The Mysterious Dragonman - Prologue
#1 of The Mysterious Dragonman

And there we begin : my first serious writing project which is going to last ! Yeah, because being lazy I've usually got problems continuing to write long stories, but this one is particular.
The Mysterious Dragonman is firstly a role-play created by Rubyknight1 on DrA, which has been lasting for now nearly two years and with over 200 pages of RP. It's one of the RPs in which I'm the most involved, due to it being the first I ever joined. If you want to see the original RP it's there : http://www.dragonadoptersforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=74882.0
The main plot belongs to Rubyknight1, and all the characters to their respective owners : Solaria to Rubyknight1, Sita to Zenyatta, Calemvir to Dragonfriend101 and Lông to me.
So, I had the idea to try to rewrite the whole RP as a story, with the approval of all the characters. This prologue sets up the plot, and in fact happens right before the true beginning of the RP.

The Mysterious Dragonman Show
After a last hour of lesson that seemed like an eternity for every student in the town, the school bell rang, finally announcing the beginning of summer holidays they all were waiting. Finally, free from lessons and homework ! And plus, this evening the annual town's festival was beginning, something no one wanted to miss, children like adults. Lông headed toward his home, quickly putting his school bag in the corner it would stay for the next two months before changing his clothes. There still were some hours left before the true beginning of the festival, but there always were some shows before, and there was so much to see ! From the circus, with his animals and artists it was always funny to chat with, to the normal attractions like carousels and of course candy stores. Like always, the result was astonishing. Lông was feeling the same way he felt like when he first saw this annual festival, the same feeling to suddenly see the town transformed into a huge and magical attraction park. He suddenly spotted people were converging to a nearby tent. Hey, was there a show there ? Following the people, he widely smiled as he saw that indeed, a show was being prepared. The teenager entered the tent, and waited for it to begin. After all, he still had some time before going to the main spectacle with Mei.
Solaria wandered through the streets, enchanted by the look it suddenly took with the festival. It changed so much from it's usual appearance ! Definitively, that festival was an event no one should miss. She noticed people were converging toward a nearby tent. Curious to know what was happening, she headed there and understood it was a show. Great ! She just had to wait until it begins.
Calemvir bit his lip as he saw all the happy people around him. Not only he wasn't used to a such crowd, but on top of that he just hated this city. It only brought sadness in his life. Why did his parents decided to move there ? Their previous home was far better... But the main thing he couldn't pardon them was his dog. How dared them send him in a shelter ? And they even didn't told him they did so ! And now, what was the result ? He died. The one with which he grew up died, and his parents weren't even sad of it. The teenager shot violently in a nearby rock, swearing as it finally was heavier than he thought. After that betrayal, he just hopped his parents didn't expected to see him soon, because he didn't had the intention to go back home. Calemvir watched the people seeming to converge toward a tent. There surely was a show there, from what he got it was the annual festival of the town. But he just was feeling too sad to enjoy a show.
Sita was wandering through the festival, a wide smile on her face as she was admiring all the decorations put for the occasion. For her first year in this town this sure was a pleasant surprise ! She suddenly spotted a teenager that seemed sad. "Hey, come on, it's no time for being sad ! Just forget it for some hours !" she happily said. Calemvir groaned as only answer. Sita was going to continue to argue, but finally gave up. If he wanted to be sad then it was his problem. And seeing that people were converging toward a tent made her forget about that. Was that a show being prepared ? Oh yeah !
Calemvir didn't moved, lost in his thoughts. He wondered why this girl always tried to cheer him up during the few weeks he had been to school. And not only him, but everybody. What was her name, already ? Sita ? Yeah, that was her name. Well, now that he was thinking about it, Sita was right. A show wouldn't hurt him and maybe it would make him forget about his problems for a while. He finally headed toward the tent, nearly at the same time that the show began - so that he was on the back of the crowd that gathered there.
The show by itself was a pretty strange one, but really fascinating. The man that made the show had a disguise that made him look like he had wings and a tail like a dragon - which could be easily explained, the show being called "The Mysterious Dragonman". First it began with some classical magical tricks, with cards or elements that suddenly disappeared and reappeared for the joy of the public. Among them, Solaria and Sita couldn't help applauding loudly on the most spectacular tricks. But as the time was going by, the tricks were getting more and more fascinating. The Dragonman began to make tricks with fire appearing on his hand, or even him breathing fire - with his disguise the effect was breathtaking. One really could think he was a dragon breathing fire. Lông made a mental note to remember to give him a generous amount of money when the show would end, that particular trick really pleased him. After that, his twin tigers came on the scene. Many gasped when seeing those huge beasts suddenly coming there, there wasn't any protection of any kind against them. But the tigers obediently made their show, with a surprising grace. The tigers seemed like they chose to make their show, not like they were ordered too. This really charmed Calemvir, who only could watch, amazed, the tigers jumping through burning circles without even roast a single hair, and then purring at their master. And for the final part of the show, the Dragonman began to create, like by magic, ice patterns in the airs, only fixed at an edge to an especially made support. Calemvir wondered what trick he could use to make that one, but he was starting to lose interest in the show. The part with tigers sure was his preferred one. At least, being in the rear part of the crowd he would easily get out. Making way through the crowd with loads of "Sorry" and "Excuse me", he reached the entrance of the tent... and blinked when he saw that one of the twin tigers was blocking the way. How did he arrived here without anyone to have seen it ? Calemvir tried to get around the animal, but that one growled and moved to block him. He was voluntarily blocking him ! What could all this mean ? Meanwhile, Lông had slightly released his attention on the show. It was starting to get quite long, and he had the feeling some tricks were made twice. But why ? A small 'click' drew his attention. It was coming from just under the scene. And he smelt an odd smelling right at that moment. What was that meaning ? No one around him seemed to have noticed the little noise nor the subtle smelling that invaded the tent. He wanted to move but, horrified, he didn't managed to use his muscles. He was starting to feel weaker and weaker. People were starting to understand something odd was happening, but it was already too late. Lông didn't really have the time to wonder what would happen next before collapsing. The room quickly filled with the gas, and about ten seconds later, even Calemvir got knocked down. Only the Dragonman and his two tigers weren't affected by the gas. Like nothing happened, he took off the hat he had for the show and put it on the support he had been using for his ice tricks. A slight smile could be seen on his face.
