When a Dragon Died
Death...
Every living thing on earth had three steps of life: the birth, the life, and the death. Death was considered as the ultimate conclusion of one's story, even animals and those seemingly unlimited life forces. Some said it was a choice, some said it was a nightmare, some said...it was the point of no return. No living things, not even dragons, would be immortal. No one...could cheat death.
Richard saw it in front of his eyes. His mount...no, his friend, the half-machine electric golden dragon he became so close to, was killed by the one he supposed to kill. From his unusually long-ranged vision, Richard saw his friend's back cracked because of the impact from the cloud-hidden dragon that quickly run away. The dragon roared while he fell to the ground, followed by Seraphor's roar, his scream, and the Order's arrival...too late to save him.
Richard ran with speed exceeding humans because of his mutated dragon feet. He reached Ray that was close to death, with his half-machine started to blink uncontrollably.
"Ray! Hey, you won! You won from the dragon! You, and Seraphor, together! Hey, speak to me! You are not going to die, right?! Hey!"
Raithorakh, couldn't speak because his half metal body was shutting down, only made a weak half-smile when blood started to pour out from his maw. Richard started to shed tears, but remained smiling, until the golden dragon saw Engrak, Richard's yellow blade. He stared at it for a long time, and Engrak produced yellow light for a brief moment before it died out, unknown to Richard. Then, when the machineries died out, Raithorakh's head fell and hit the ground, lifeless.
Richard fell to his side, watched by many dragons alike. He couldn't concentrate on them. He was too devastated by the loss, and couldn't hear any other wails, but he still could hear Avila's faint cry near him. The world seemed silent when a dragon died, and every kind of sound was like the illusion created by the death to give a striking sensation for loss.
Richard was too devastated by his dragon best friend's loss and he failed to realize the dragon's body was crackling with electricity. He went back to reality when one jolt hit him, sending a sudden shock to his body.
"What in the..." was the thing he managed to say before he blacked out right after a blinding light engulfed his vision. That light was the last thing he saw before he left the world.
