Prologue:
So yes, the brown and tan wolf found his way into the life he had not once thought he would enter. As he lay with his roommates he thinks back on all the times he could have shifted rails and ventured down this path, but the fear of God and most fearful, his folks, kept him on the path of 'righteousness.' So long was he on this path that he had begun to believe it. Not that he had a choice. If he wanted to be loved by his family, and never let them down, he would do anything to please them even if it meant living a life that was not his; growing into the alpha he was never to become.
That last semester was a whirlwind for the lupine. Whether it was being caught literally with his pants down enjoying himself whilst inhaling the musky scents of his puma roommate's underwear, or when he fell asleep between the two of them, finally feeling like he belonged somewhere, to someone(s). It was very tough the rest of the remaining three weeks they had to be together. They spent every last moment together, the three of them...basking in each other's affection. They never did anything beyond massaging each other and the occasional pawing. One, none of them wanted to make any moves that they would live to regret. They tried hard to not get terribly attached to one another, even if they spent the last 2 ½ years of their college life living together as roommates. This was different, waaaay different. They knew their time was short, so they made the best of it while not crossing any lines.
Nighteyes occasionally had nightmares where he would find himself in the corner of a crowded room, being interrogated by his mother, father, brothers, friends, pastors of his church. Being told he was a sinner and an insult to God himself. He felt the proverbial welts of the Bibles being whacked against his pelt, the wetness of being spat upon, the ringing in his ears of the endless threats of being tossed into the eternal fire of damnation. The scary part, if there was never any bit of it, was that he was enjoying it. Something to this torture he set up for himself was arousing for the poor wolf. Never the less, he would wake up each time sweating cold bullets, shivering into the loving embrace of the Husky that was Dan. The big guy was so gentle...holding him as if he were made of glass. The three of them spent every night embracing each other, and falling asleep into their respectable shoulder or back.
Unfortunately, their fairy tale had to come to an end and reality comes to sweep them all away. Graduation came and went, and the three of them found each other standing in their common room, in the longest hug they've given each other those three weeks. Mike was actually crying, which shocked Nighteyes. The puma was always hard as a rock, especially when it came to his emotions. The poor feline's grandmother died the previous year and never once did the canine and lupine see an ounce of emotion on his face. The only way they knew he was mourning would be when he would go into his room at the time and crank his music up to deafening levels, which obviously was to cover up for the roaring sobs.
The three stood them in each other's arms not saying a word. To say anything at this point would shatter their world and make the awful truth real. There was no way they would ever be able to see each other again, and that was the worst feeling Nighteyes had ever felt. Against all his ability, he formed a deep bond between Mike and Dan that would never be broken, and they to him. Instead of speaking, they stood together until the lock on their door sounded the entrance of their RA to collect their keys. As of waking up from a deep sleep they came to their senses and handed them to her. She was a sweet lemur who had taken a liking to the shy wolf. Not in the way one would think, she always had a sneaking suspicion about him, but never broached the subject.
She smiled at the three and hugged them one by one. Strangely this was done all in silence as well. As they turned to take one last look at the dwelling they called home that semester, they each took out their cell phones and made sure they had all their numbers and promised for the millionth time that they would all keep in touch. Walking down to the van where his parents were waiting patiently, he wondered if the things he dreamt about, the beatings, the ridicule...would happen for real.
It was the most unsettling two hours ever riding in the back seat as they all headed for home.......

"They're gone...they really are gone.." the heart stricken wolf sighed as he lay upon his old bed, in a room much too small for one his age and size. For the most part his room was relatively untouched, though he could see that his mother had made his room somewhat of a storage area, and had rushed to empty it out and return things to their original state. The poster of the jackal that played Aragorn in the remake of "The Lord of the Rings" stared down at him from the wall across his bed. He couldn't push away the amusing thought of just how he thought himself straight, or else he would have gotten a poster of the vixen actress who played Arwen.
Now faced with the ever growing pressure of having to find a job, he found himself in a sudden blank. The last semester of college was supposed to have been spent beginning the grueling search for a career. The internships he had done throughout his time at school helped him gain some experience on the job, but never for the interview process as he never had to for the two jobs he held. This was beginning to cause an acidic pit in his stomach as those two companies had to regretfully turn down the possibility of returning as a full fledge employee due to financial cut backs. So with this in the back of his mind, the sadness he was feeling as he left the school, and his loving roommates, for good had all but evaporated. Somehow he managed to fall asleep, and in his dreams he spent the whole time with his departed duo, thus bringing him much needed calm and relaxation. Tears streamed down his face as he slept.
The next morning wasn't filled with much excitement. It was Sunday so it had meant going to church, though he wasn't filled with dread as this meant he also got to play his french horn in the church orchestra, all of whom were delighted he had returned. Apparently everyone underestimated the power of the horn and missed him. The sermon though, he did feel a little on edge about. The topic being that of Sodom and Gomorrah, and how homosexuals were looked upon by God as a disgrace. For obvious reasons, the wolf's stomach stirred and churned as a sea of acid stormed within the pit of him. Afterwards, he and his family went out for their typical brunch at IHOP and the wolf spoke very little unless directly spoken to. His brother, an overweight black furred wolf by the name of Maurice broke his silence spell.
"Nighteyes, aren't you glad to be back at home?" His brother asked with a hint of sarcasm. The two of them always squabbled and argued when he was living at home prior to college. Nighteyes took all he had not to snarl at him, and thusly bit his tongue.
"Of course, Maury, why wouldn't I be glad to be home?" Nighteyes began with a rose eyebrow. His brother never liked being called Maury, but withstood it for the sake of their folks who sat there with utensils frozen in air before their maws, juice from the egg yoke dripping onto their plates. "I mean...come on, who doesn't like to mooch of mom and dad. Free lodging, maid service, food......" He continued, "...and diapers." He finished just loud enough for his brother to hear, which caused the heckles on the black wolf's neck to raise even if he didn't show it in his face. His parents could all but turn their heads at the curious onlookers.
"Oh ya? well....err, um...who was it you were speaking too last night?" Maurice asked in an intriguing manner as he knew he would strike a nerve. Their rooms were right next to each other and the walls did little to hide what was to be hidden from the other's keen ears.
"What are you blabbering on about?" Their mother finally chimed in. She could see the daggers and lazers striking from their icey glares, and she knew she had to intervene less they brought the house down on each other. They have never ever gotten into a physical fight, though now that they two of them were nearing adulthood, and their testosterone levels at their highest, she knew it was only a matter of time before the last straw fell and shattered the little that was restraining him.
"I don't know mom, you know how Maury likes his feet.." Nighteyes referred to his brothers knack of shoving his feet in his mouth. "..he's lived at home so long he would never know how to survive on his own." This remark nearly sent Maurice through the roof. Nighteyes was always the independent one in the family, taking care of his own self, while his slightly younger brother was the pup of the pack, always being attended to...never having to do anything for himself, except wiping his own tail...which of course Nighteyes had no doubt in his mind mom still did for him.
"You tailhole!" yelled his brother but the two of them were pulled from their impeding war when their father laughed. The old wolf never could take their fights seriously. It was humorous as he himself knew they spoiled their youngest, and knew well enough to cut him off cold turkey. The damage was already done. "You two are always at it aren't you. You'd think that 4 years apart would soften you two, but I can see otherwise. Not even 24 hours together and you two are ready to rip each other's necks clean out."
The comment seemed to bring the two brothers back to reality, though the comment about who he was speaking to the other night never left him. 'I must of spoken their names loudly in my sleep...and by the moist patch in the bulge of my boxers, it must have been a really good dream..' The tan wolf thought to himself as he half worried his brother may have put two and two together.
"Now, will you two just play pretend and get along with each other before the entire establishment starts paying for tickets to see the big fight?" The smirk on his father's face made his mother shake her head. She could never see his humor. Nighteyes decided to follow his dad's lead and try to make peace
"Listen bro, I'm sorry. I know my nickname for you and the comments about mooching off mom and dad gets you steamed, but please, I've only been home for such a short time, how about giving me a break for a change." Nighteyes half pleaded, knowing well that his brother saw through the fake sincerity in hopes of a faux civilizedness. In other words, saving this discussion for later.
"Sure thing Nighty, how bout a truce?" And with that Maurice held out his paw for him to shake, if brutally firm.
"Now that's more like it. Let us try to enjoy the rest of this homecoming and then later we can catch the Fur England Patriots pre-season game on the box." His dad concluded their little chat and the rest of them finished their meals with Nighteyes talking about his final project and what he planned to do about the great job hunt to come.
In the back of his mind however, Nighteyes knew that there was going to be more where that came from in terms of his brother. Little did he know that what was to come would test and stretch the very fabric of his being.............
To be continued.........................................................................................................................
Now then, I am sure many of your have wondered just where the hell I've been and why I haven't updated this story in so long. Well, my life took for a busy twist and have been working my tail off at work, not to mention dealing with the fact that now everybody in my family knows of me being gay. If you could imagine, it is quite a mental load. My fox and I have since celebrated our one year anniversary and it was not an easy year for that lol.
Anyways, I have decided to take to a different storyline with this tale. I knew I shot myself in the footpaw when I placed this story in the timeline I had done. I never thought to think ahead. So I went with the next best thing and take this tale beyond the school and take you all on a trip on a fictionalized version of my life post graduation hehe. Of course nothing written above is anywhere close to what happened, but I figured that after reading enough stories and connecting them to my life, that I could take this tale into this direction.
Cheers furs! Wish me luck on my next part, and in hopes I could finish it in your life times :) Tata!
