One must never forget the past...if you forget the past, you'll forget something of great importance, you'll lose yourself, and you will be caught by surprise if something, anything, happens...so are the words of Nyudo Gilgamesh Nattak, the Rambling Madman, Stalker In The Streets, He Who Festers...And it is true, we must not forget....we must not forget what happened ten long years ago...she was on her way home from school, and he was waiting...he had been waiting in the exact same place for three long days. He didn't eat, didn't sleep...this man, this....boy...he is patience incarnate!

‾ Excerpt from an old police file on Gilgamesh Nattak.

Ten years...ten long years...why did he wait? She was anxious. What would happen if he came back? What would happen to her? She could still hear his cruel voice saying the accursed words..."If you say anything about this to anyone...I swear, I'll come after you and kill you!" She began to shake, sitting there in that corner...everything seemed cold and empty...She had been patient, she had been waiting for him. Until a few days ago, she was ready for the second encounter, but now...She felt sick and began running towards the bathroom. When she got there, she threw up. Tears ran freely from her sorrowful eyes. She couldn't do this anymore...she wouldn't survive another encounter with him..

She had already told Doctor Kadow of the incident, and she knew fully well what was going to happen next...She couldn't stand it anymore...she wanted to get away from it all. She threw up again, her entire body wrecked in painful muscle cramps and different levels of pain due to the anxiousness in the very depths of her soul. How could she get away? A fairly stupid question...she couldn't...Or...maybe?

Her parents weren't home. They were visiting her old aunt somewhere near Idaho. She crawled out of the bathroom, trying to stand up with no real success...wanted to reach the kitchen and get hold of a knife, thereby ending it...she was still crying, making it hard to see anything before her.

Everything was shrouded by a thin layer of...fog...If her parents had seen her now, they would probably have thought she was drugged or drunk. She shook her head, trying to clear her eyes from the tears, kept walking towards the kitchen. She could already see the knives, hanging in a fine row along the wall. The sight made her shiver. Oh, how she wanted to get away from it all...She could hear her father's voice in her head, loud and booming, but still comforting and calm, telling her not to do it, think reasonably...she could also hear her mother, far, far away, cooing and crying to her.

She grabbed hold of the sharpest knife she could get hold of, watching the finely honed edge with sad, empty eyes. She placed it at her wrist, watching the edge rest against her tender, soft skin. Soon, it would slice through, dig into her flesh and take her flesh...she was wandering in a valley of shadows, and she did not want to do that anymore...she wanted to escape, get away from the cold, cruel voice gnawing at her sanity with each passing second. She could remember all the fine times she had shared with her family, from Halloween to Christmas...all the laughter, the joy...and in the end, she realized that everyone was laughing except from herself...

Her breath was heavy and warm, her heart was pumping. She was so scared...so alone...why wouldn't anyone help her? No matter how many times she cried out for help, no one answered her call. Not even Doctor Kadow. She realized it now, she was alone. There was no turning back, she had to do it. Or, she thought she had to. She got uncertain. What if this wasn't the right thing to do? What if she had misunderstood the entire thing? No. No, she couldn't think that way. With one last, heavy gasp, she allowed the knife to dig deep into her wrist.

She quickly withdrew from the knife, dropping the bloodied piece of steel to the ground, eyes wide with fear. A hollow clang rang in her ears, her wrist was shivering. Thin lines of blood ran from the open wound, dripping to the floor with little splashes. She slumped slowly to the ground, the dizziness overcoming her body, forcing her to lie down. She didn't care where she was going, she didn't care about anything. Not anymore...this was it, this was the end...she knew it, she could feel it...Her eyes began to slip...she felt groggy, then dizzy, then...sleepy...

But this...this wasn't her time...

She woke up in a dark, cold room. Dirty water was dripping from the ceiling, messing up her fur real bad. She closed her eyes, her hands rubbing her naked tummy in an attempt to warm herself. It was so cold, nearly freezing...So, this was death...The ultimate loneliness. Everything that she once loved was taken away from her, and she stood there with empty, open arms. Now, she wanted to live.

She needed someone...anyone....next to her, someone to keep her warm. All she asked for was a little love. But who could possibly love a demon? She didn't understand. What had she done to deserve this? She wasn't cruel, she wasn't evil...she was an ordinary girl, a completely ordinary girl who kept her room tidy and did her homework as soon as he came home from school...She buried her vulpine face in her hands, trying to gather up a few thoughts, she tried to think, memorize...remember...

All of a sudden, she felt something push against her throat, something cold and evil...She didn't dare to turn around and face whatever it was. She stayed put, eyes wide with surprise and dread, her body stiff and tense. Why was this so familiar? This wasn't death...this was a nightmare! A nightmare from ages past, when she first met....him...

"I thought I told you not to tell anyone..." Nyudo said, pushing his long, curved dagger against her throat with a wicked grin at his face, forcing the demoness to tighten even more.

"I never told anyone of you, Nyudo...I swear! Please, dear you, let me go! Free me from this nightmare!" she responded, voice filled with her most intense fears and dread.

"Oh no, I'm not going to let you go that easily this time, you dumb bitch! You're a poor liar...I know what you told Kadow...about me being an asshole...about that time ten years ago...Heh, you can't get away...you never can...we cannot forget our past...if we do, we'll forget ourselves, and, in the end, everything!"

She could feel the demon pushing his body against her, his bristling muscles, his warm body...But his touch was somehow...gentle...and loving! His arms wrapped around her, his head resting on her shoulder. Had he changed? No, some thins never change, and Nyudo couldn't be an exception. Or could he? He gave her a soft lick, his black, forked tongue sliding across her cheekbone, sending shivers down her finely honed back. He was only playing with her...

"I never meant to hurt you...back then, I was lusting for you...I remember my first day at school, when I first saw you. You were standing there, surrounded by your friends, clutching your schoolbooks tight to your chest...You looked incredibly cute, and...I snapped...couldn't control myself anymore...it became too much, and I..."

The demon ceased talking. He didn't really need to say more either, she knew what it felt to love someone without them noticing. But still, what Nyudo did was unforgivable...even by demonic standards. But now, he had changed entirely. His voice had changed, his body had changed...he spun her around, allowing her to gaze into his eyes. So gentle...

He bent forward, his eyes closing, his muzzle meeting hers. She was filled with an intense feeling of warmth and love...his amazing strength...he held her with one strong arm, the other resting at her shoulder to make sure she wouldn't fall. She softened, the tension in her body vanishing. He wiped away her tears still running from her once-so-troubled eyes, smiling weakly to show her that he really didn't mean her no harm. She tried to kiss him back, but...everything blackened....and vanished...

She woke up at the local hospital, her mother sitting next to her, holding her hand in a gentle grip. Her father was also there, his face buried in his large hands. He shook his head a few times before he realized that she was awake, running over to her to give her a gentle, yet tight hug. They sat there for what seemed like a lifetime, talking....She told them what happened, they listened...both to her, and the gentle music playing in the background..."My Immortal" by Evanescence. An elderly doctor came into the room, leading the young demoness' parents out in the main corridor to give them a short briefing of what was to happen...

Right before she fell asleep that night, she could hear a distant voice, calm and gentle, filled with love and mercy....It was him, talking to her from a faraway place...The voice died away, and she fell asleep...drifted away to dreamland...and so, all was calm once again....
