A Trial by Three
A very old story of mine, I'm not all that fond of it to be honest but I thought I'd upload it somewhere.
"Ow, ow, ow," I complained limping over to the bleachers with the rest of the track team, long bushy black tail trailing lazily behind me. I had pulled a hamstring during the long jump. My first event I'd like to point out! Needless to say my next two were less than impressive, being a fox can sometimes be a huge pain when you're not screwing around. I thought almost surely that I've got a load of dirt in my fur achingly as I sat on the bleachers. Having gone past the other runners who weren't out on the track doing their events, when I noticed Jakob walking my way. To be honest he intimidates me just a bit. Tall and skinny, light yellow black spotted fur. He's a nice cheetah but still...
"Hey Shawn," he said cheerfully as he sat down on the row of bleachers behind me, checking his gym bag for his sunglasses.
"Hey Jakob," I replied with disinterest still in too much pain to really care about much of anything right now...well almost anything. My mood simply couldn't help but be brightened, my tail swishing back and fourth as my eyes fell upon a certain dark grey wolf across the field. I tell you, a lot can happen in three years. Back at one of my old schools he was slim and his fur been so long an unruly I had almost never been able to look him in the eyes. Now? He had put on some muscle-I mean a freaking Adonis build! His fur was now well managed, and smooth, perfectly taken care of. I didn't even recognize him to first day of school. He was currently wearing a pair of cream khaki pants and a plain white t-shirt. Shame he couldn't make the track team try-outs.
From what I heard he's been feeling sick so he couldn't make it but today he decided to tag along with us to one of our meets. Now no surprise considering that we're such good friends but me and Jakob have similar taste in men because we both happen to like Jason. Jakob's bi, I'm gay. Jason though....well we both think that he's straight but at times we simply can't tell. Like when we were stretching earlier today before the meet and my little accident. As usual Jakob was leading the team excercise and out of nowhere Jason walks over and pats Jakob's stomach and walked away, laughing tongue lolling out in a stupid little grin. In all honestly that's him on average.
*Bang*
I hate that starting gun so freaking much, its killer on the ears especially for canids like me and Jason but thankfully this was the last event. I'd be out of here soon and won't have to hear that sound until the next meet. The last event was a relay, one I was supposed to be in but due to my injury I had switch out with Aaron a semi cute panther, not like it matters. He's faster than I am. The relay could have gone better. We came in last but it wasn't really that much of a surprise to me. Seeing as one of them pulled off a win that was quite unexpected and even as the fourth number he was tired to say the least.
Glad it was over, I stood, grabbing my bags and slowly stepping off the bleachers and back onto the field to leave. That was before I saw Jason's striped dress shirt at the top of the bleachers. I sighed looking and finding him still across the field. I achingly made my way up the bleachers retrieving his shirt, inhaling his lupine scent before heading back down, just as Jason walked my way, looking for said shirt. I held it up, calling his name. "Jason," He didn't notice me as expected so I called again. Still nothing, for a fox I've always been rather unnoticeable. This time I raised my voice a little. "Jason!"
"Yeah?" He said tilting his muzzle in my direction though already half-way up the bleachers. I held up his shirt and he came over to take it. "Thanks dude," he said with a grin as he took the shirt. I only nodded, walking away as he turned to speak to Jakob. Off thing here-most people right now would probably be jealous at the sight of one they like with another even if only in a friend form. Me however? What I see are possibilities for an interesting little game and some useful data for my research. You see, I have a bit of a bad habit. I like to do research, to simply observe when one thinks no one is watching. A little creepy some might say but it's so fun to hear what people do and talk about when they think no one is paying any attention.
As I recall earlier in class, Jason said that he might be going to the beach and Jakob might be going with him. Interesting. I met up with my mom and step-dad across the field and we went to drive home. My mind was consumed throughout the drive with countless possibilities.
I flopped down onto my bed, placing the heated pad on the back of my leg to ease the pain away even though I was literally drying sweat into my fur. I would definitely reek in the morning, hell I reek now. My cell vibrated next to me. I groaned lazily as I reached to the side of my bed, taking it into my paw and flipped the phone open glancing at it from the corner of my eye.
"Hey, you feeling any better?" it was a text from Jakob.
"A little, I guess but today was tough" I replied.
"Yeah I'm on my bed and I still feel tired" came his response.
"Same here...so you and Jason going to the beach this weekend?"
His next message took a moment to arrive "idk, I hope he calls me so I can find out if he's interested."
"He will, you lucky bastard! Well when you guys go I want all the details, daily reports if need be."
"Lol will do."
The night went on and we talked about random things, mostly Jason but we got into our sexual experiences at some point, seeing as we ourselves had fooled around before. Surprisingly enough it wasn't as awkward as I thought, from then it went with me contemplating how we could get the two together.
"I just hope he remembers to call me."
"Jakob, I will make sure he remembers to call you."
"Thx for having my back.
"No problem."
With that our texting for the night pretty much ended I flipped through my cell's contact list and found Jason's number. I'll text him in the morning to remind him. I'd do it now but I'm way too tired. I tossed my cell to the chair at my bedside. I laid my head down and fell asleep.
Morning came along sooner than I expected. Waking with a stir of pain in the back of my leg. I glanced at the cable box and saw the time was 10:13. I must have been hurting to have slept this late. Weakly I got up. Looking over I saw my phone on the chair where I'd tossed it last night. "I suppose I'll go ahead and text Jason" I murmured, reaching over to my phone flipping my cell open and found his number.
"So you remember to call Jakob for your beach trip?"
It took about ten minutes but eventually he replied. "Oh I almost forgot. I'm gonna call him now!"
Well that was just about what I had expected. Though I knew he was a smart guy, he was often quite oblivious. It's always the hot, pretty ones that are a tad slow. I pondered walking into the bathroom across the hall. I glanced into the mirror with tired blue eyes as usual. Displeased with what I saw, despite what some people would tell me, I constantly feel like shit considering my looks on a regular basis. My pointed ears twitched, I glanced back at my room lazily hearing my cell go off. I would have ignored it but it was the ring tone for a call not a text.
I stepped out of the bathroom and went off to my phone and flipped it open holding it to my ear.
"Hello?" I spoke fighting back a yawn.
"HE CALLED!" A familiar voice yelled as I automatically pulled the phone away from my ear. "He said that he would've forgotten if you hadn't texted him."
"Yes, well, glad to be of service." I said plopping back down on my bed, burying my muzzle in a pillow.
"Thanks...and I asked if it was okay if you came too."
"Excuse me?" I asked, lifting my head. "I don't recall that being part of the plan."
"I know...but you could help a lot more by being there rather than just over the phone." He did make a good point.
"Jakob, what do you want me to do? Help you strip him naked? But if you were aiming for a threesome, I'm definitely there." I simply couldn't resist and we both shared a laugh at the comment.
"Haha, so anyway can you go?" he asked curiously.
I pulled the phone away from my ear and stepped off my bed and out of my room. I glanced down the stairs. "Well, mother's leaving town today so I'm sure she won't mind which basically is a yes." I said sauntering back to my room.
"Great! We'll be there in like...an hour." With that he hung up before I had the chance to respond.
Now, I didn't think they would be leaving so early...oh well. I guess I should go ahead and pack, should probably shower too. As I recall when Jason first asked Jakob he said they were going to stay for about two days...a weekend trip apparently. Well this is sure to be interesting.
*Ding dong*
"They're early," I muttered to myself as I grabbed my blue and white striped hoodie, swinging it over my shoulders and taking my sling bag heading towards the door. Placing my bag down, I pulled out my key, unlocked the door and opened it. "Hey, Jakob."
"Hey Shawn, ready to go?" He sounded excited, spotted tail wagging behind him seconding that thought.
"Yeah let's go," I replied lowly, turning to pick up my bad and stepping outside the door, locking it behind me, a cool breeze swimming through my still damp fur. Jason was sitting in his car, waiting for us, I'd tell you what of car kind but I'm terrible with cars. The trunk was open. Two other bags were inside so I tossed mine in, closing the trunk, careful not to slam it.
Jakob got in the front seat as expected so I got in the back of the car. Jason turned to me, bright smile on his adorable muzzle as usual. "Watsup Shawn! Ready to go?"
I chuckled before answering back. "Yeah let's get going." That said, we were off. He backed out of my driveway and we began our trip.
The drive was nice, only about an hour drive. We stopped out once at a McDonald's to eat and use the bathroom. The trip was fun we all chatted about completely random things, just enjoying ourselves really. We parked in a mildly uncrowded parking lot. Ahead of us was the sandy shore of Kettle beach teaming with spring breakers stepping out of the car I inhaled the scent of the salty sea water that lingered lightly in the air. Jason and Jakob stepped out of the car each taking a deep breath also relishing the scent of the ocean.
"So where's your beach house Jason?" I asked curiously as we all proceeded to get out bags out of the car's trunk.
Holding his bag over his shoulder with ease he motioned over to a line of houses overlooking the beach shore. "It's the third house down." He started walking on and I began after him unable to keep my attention off his tail, wagging enthusiastically as I watched. I had somehow failed to notice Jason's guitar, it had been sitting in the very back of the trunk. Yes he plays guitar, sings, dances, does martial arts too such a talented little wolf he is. It's a little wonder why I fell for him. Glancing out of the corner of my eye I saw Jakob walking by Jason's side, his feline eyes constantly sneaking peeks at the hunky wolf. I couldn't help but grin he and I are quite alike indeed.
I knew for a fact that there are plenty of people back at the school that like him and yet somehow he's still single. A wonder in my eyes.
We began up a small flight of stairs stepping onto the wooden porch of a medium sized one story house. Jason pulled a silver key out of his pocket, inserting it into the lock and opening the door before stepping in. Jakob and I followed stepping inside; apparently it hadn't been used in awhile by the faint smell of dust lingering in the air. Jason closed the door behind us and we all began to look around. I had to admit I was impressed. It was a nice place, the first thing I came to was a living room. A small round mahogany table in the corner of the room, a light hazel sofa matching the color of the building itself. A TV, I'd say about 25 inches stood on a stand across from the sofa and a rug with a red and yellow flower pattern.
"Nice place," I said turning around only to find that neither of the two were there. I heard footsteps in the distance. Dropping my bag on the ground I followed the sounds after going through a short hallway. I came into a small back room. It had a screen door outside and there was a back porch overlooking the shore and sparkling ocean waters. Jason and Jakob were standing there, paws resting upon the railing surrounding the porch. I smiled, looking at the scene. "And yet somehow they are not together" I muttered to myself aloud. This might be a lot easier than I had originally thought. Shame I kind of like a challenge.
I went past the screen door, stepping out and joining the two as a soft gust began to blow. Jakob looked to Jason as did I. Even as he looked out onto the ocean we gazed at him as the soft breeze swam through his short smooth fur. "So..." I began, breaking the silence as the two only now took notice of me. "What's first on our agenda for this little trip?"
Jason titled his head as if he were pondering. It appeared as if he was about to speak but Jakob beat him to it. "Why don't we go out on the beach?" he asked excitedly and Jason nodded his head, tail wagging in agreement. Like I didn't see that one coming. We all headed back into the home. I got my swimming trunks from my bag as did they. Jason said there were two bathrooms. One by the living room before the kitchen and one right before the back porch. I shrugged, telling them that they could go ahead and change ahead of me. I could wait. Plus I could use this.
Jason went to the bathroom in the back so Jakob went to the one past the living room in which I was currently sitting. Before he could get past me I called him over to me. "Okay, look I'm going to take my time changing. While I do so, you two are going to go for a swim. Afterwards you'll eat." his short ears fell uncertain as looked at me, no doubt questioning what I was thinking. "Don't worry, I'll explain later."
"Alright, if you say so," he said turning his back.
"Not yet" I quickly grabbed his tail before he could walk away. He growled at me briefly, I ignored it and motioned for him to sit down. He did.
"Yeah?"
"This advice should help you more than anything so do listen." I said looking at him intently. "When you touch make him yearn for more, when you speak let your voice make him shiver with anticipation." I sighed. "When your eyes meet make your intentions clear. Then lean in and kiss him." Jakob was silent. He looked at me as if I had sprouted a second head. I shrugged leaning back in the sofa. "Hurry up and change before Jason comes out."
He nodded and went to change though appearing somewhat hesitant. I laid my head back on the sofa as he left the room. How I get myself into situations like this I will never know but at least things don't get boring too often. I closed my eyes relaxing but it was short lived. "Shawn?" I cursed mentally as my eyes cracked open. I suddenly wished they were stapled shut. There was Jason, standing only in a pair of bright red swim trunks, shirtless, holding a white towel over his shoulder.
His chest so tones, muscle incredibly visible even under his fur looking as if they had been chiseled at the hands of a Michelangelo himself. That teasing line of white fur going down his midriff hidden below at the waistline of those damn swimming trunks. It's so true what they say. Looking to his strong runners legs I couldn't help but think all the good ones are either taken or well in my case, straight. "Y-yeah?" I muttered weakly in response. My own words now sounded like mush to me.
"You can go change now dude," he said, motioning towards the hallway.
"Of course," I said, getting up from the sofa and walking past him as fast as I could before he noticed that my sheath had started to swell more than it already had. Moving down the small hallway, reaching the end I noticed the bathroom to my left. I went in. Sighing as I sat down on the toilet seat, how in the hell had I forgotten before today I had yet to see him shirtless, just shoot me. After changing I tossed my bag onto a bed in one of the guest bedrooms. I then went to the back porch. Looking out I could see them, Jakob was wearing a pair of blue swim trunks, showing off his slim form, cheetahs always seemed to burn fat as fast as they run. Lucky little bastards.
Surprisingly there weren't too many people out on the beach, I did however see a red headed tiger on the other side of the beach with a white lion. With so few around it had been pretty easy for me to spot the Jakob and Jason. As expected they were swimming, not far out from the shore. I'd join them but that wasn't in the plan. Plus I can't swim. I shrugged walking through the house stepping out the front door after grabbing the blue towel I'd brought with me. Stepping out onto the beach I was immediately greeted with the feel of warm sand and the sounds of boisterous spring breakers. Looking about I saw the breach umbrella with a large "J" on it. Jason's no doubt, seeing as both his and Jakob's towels were sitting under it.
I went over to it lying out on my own towel under the shade of the umbrella, gazing out onto the glistening ocean waters. What my eyes fell upon should have surprised me more but for some reason it just didn't. There they were, Jason and Jakob having a water fight, splashing each other and laughing wholeheartedly. I'm sure to them it seemed like nothing more than a bit of harmless fun but to me too looked like something out of a cheesy romance novel. Not that it matters that much though it did go a little overboard when Jason grabbed Jakob around the waist pulled them both under water.
They came up shortly, Jason still holding onto Jakob before letting go after what must have seemed like an eternity to the taller cat. They were heading back to the shore and I couldn't help but notice Jakob walked a little strangely. Their fur was soaking wet and there was no way a towel would be able to dry them completely, not that they seemed to really care too much. "Yo Shawn! You should jump in the water it feels great!" Jason said flopping down onto his towel, face first.
"Maybe later," I replied calmly, turning my attention to Jakob. Leaning closer to him uttering below a whisper. "You're hard aren't you?" He nodded, the water had helped mask the smell but this close the scent of his arousal was easy to pick up, without another word I scanned the breach. I spotted a decent looking food stand. Plan formed, I smiled saying loudly, "You two must be hungry after that, why don't you go get something from that stand?" Hopefully Jakob wouldn't let Jason go with him to get the food, cause I'm sure he needs a little time to cool down.
"I'll go" Jakob said quickly beginning to go over to the stand, awkwardly hiding the bulge in his shorts.
"I'll come too," Jason said, standing from his towel.
"N-no that's okay I got it. I know what you want anyway." Jason nodded. "Oh Shawn, want anything?"
"No I'm fine." With that he was off, but Jason hadn't returned to his towel yet, he was looking after Jakob, smiling as per usual. But there was something different. It wasn't the usual happy just to be alive smile, it seemed genuinely happy but somewhat longing.
"My, my." I said sitting up. It appears as if Jakob's feelings weren't as unrequited as I had thought. "You...like him don't you?"
"W-what?" I might have been a little too blunt with my question. "Well of course I do, we've been friends forever!"
I chuckled he still wasn't looking at me, his eyes were still following Jakob ordering at the stand. "Oh you know perfectly well what I mean."
"... I know..." he said rather hesitantly. "I know what you mean but come on Shawn, he's a guy."
"As if that matters....if you want him take him," I said firmly.
"I don't like him!" he said, now turning to face me as if to make his point.
"Don't lie to me" I said calmly standing to my feet crossing my arms across my chest brushing a bit of sand from my chest fur. "Or more precisely, don't lie to yourself." He was silent so I continued. "What does it matter that he's a guy if you want him don't deny it. Besides, it's not like the idea of it disgusts you," I honestly couldn't believe how smoothly this was going.
"How would know whether I'm-"
"Because you know about me." It was a fact and I was sure he knew that I liked him so he obviously wasn't a homophobe.
"H-how did you know?" he asked taking a small step back, his tail falling still.
"You're pretty good at acting but I can see through it, when you talk to me directly your speech slows like you're watching your words, and you don't look me in the eyes." He looked away, point proven. He knew there was no point in continuing to argue with me. I grinned wickedly. "Now, back on topic. Try him." He looked at me. "I don't care if you're just experimenting but I can't see you as the type to use someone and then cast them aside."
"I don't know." His eyes were downcast, tail hanging limply between his legs looking at the sand shuffling softly feeling the sand need through his paws, apparently truly confused about this.
"If you do this, I'm sure you two will have a great relationship"
"Why are you doing this if you like me?" he stepped in on that last part. "Why are you trying to get me and him together?"
That was good question, one that I'd rather not answer. "Because Jakob cares for you, unbeknownst to himself he might even love you but me?" I uncrossed my arms and stepped closer to him, placing a paw on his hard wet chest. He tensed but made no move to push me away. "All I really want is to taste this delicious body of yours..." it was a blatant lie but he didn't need to know that. I turned my back to him as I noticed Jakob coming back. I briefly let my tail brush against his leg as I said "besides, I believe it is a lot better for you to listen to your heart rather than your sheath but the choice is yours."
"Hey guys I'm back" Jakob said carrying two hot dogs one in each paw. "Here you go Jason," he said holding up a hot dog with chili and onions.
"Oh dude my favorite." He exclaimed happily, taking the hot dog from the tall cheetah. And immediately took a bite of it. I do wonder how he managed to overlook that little talk so fast. The sun was slowly setting, casting golden rays across the beach.
Now that I think about it, we got left about twelve or something and apparently the day had gone by faster than I thought. Daylight savings time, never have I come across anything that infuriates me more. Sitting back down on my towel, I laid onto my back, glancing over I could see Jakob and Jason had also sat down.
"Jason, you've got some chili on your lip," Jakob said pointing to the wolf's bottom lip.
"W-what? Where?" he replied licking at his lip, missing the drop of chili each and every time he tried to lick it off, it made an amusing sight.
"Hold on and I'll get it." Jakob said, reaching out, wiping a single soft pad along Jason's bottom lip, getting the chili and licking it off his paw. "Got it."
"T-thanks," Jason said calmly. I had noticed if just for the span of a second that he had twitched when Jakob had touched him. I have to admit that was one hell of a move. I must give Jakob credit for that one, very nicely done. After that, they sat finishing off their hot dogs in silence for the most part. Jason stood. "It's starting to get dark. We should go back in."
We all stood each taking up our own towels. Jason moved to grab the umbrella slinging it over his shoulder as we began our way. I then tugged at the hem of Jakob's trunks, grabbing his attention. He lowered himself so I could speak without Jason hearing and whispered. "Your best chance is now. I'm gonna hang out on the beach. He's basically yours so go for it."
"I don't know...what if he-"
"Let me put it this way," I said putting my muzzle to his black tipped ear. "Either you take him tonight....or I do." He said nothing more. Jason had gotten a little ahead of us while we were talking. "Hurry after him" I said eagerly giving him a push.
I halted in the sand, watching them as they stepped up to the house. Jakob looked back at me for a short moment before entering the house. I breathed a heavy sigh. Since when did I become such a good person? I began to walk away but suddenly stopped. Then turned as something pulled at me and I began to walk towards the house as if being pulled by some invisible force. Which I'm fairly certain was my damn curiosity getting the better of me. Reaching the house I found the door was still cracked open. I stepped inside, dropping my towel to the side.
"You really...like me?" I heard Jason's voice echo. I tiptoed my way to a wall right before reaching the living room where the voice had originated.
"Well...yeah." Jakob replied timidly.
"I-I never knew...well honestly I kinda suspected it..."
"Jason....do you like me?"
There was long silence. I could only imagine the tense air about the two before I heard. "I don't...really know....you're my friend....I already like you but I don't know if I like you...like that."
Alright this was getting a little too interesting for me to pass up, so I looked past the corner of the wall, peeking into the room with a single eye, ears tilting forward. Jakob and Jason were sitting on the sofa when the spotted cat leaned over, partially atop a startled Jason. He held Jason's chin ruff in the pads of his paw, their muzzles but inches from one another foreheads touching as he asked sheepishly, "Can I....help you find out?"
Even from where I was I could clearly make out the faint blush that crept its way onto Jason's face. He reached up with a single paw, taking hold of Jakob's shoulder. He looked away from the other boy. I forced my back against the wall, grabbing and holding my tail against my chest. He'd looked in my direction. Had I not moved he would have seen me. "Yes..." Jason said softly. With a smirk I noticed the scent of arousal emanating from them both. "But...this isn't cause you're a guy, its cause you're you." Cheesy but this I had to see. I peeked again. The two were gazing into each other's eyes. I would guess at a loss for words.
Apparently however no words were necessary as Jakob leaned forward and Jason's quivering lips meet Jakob's short muzzle. Jason at first seemed timid and unsure but slowly however he relaxed, returning the others kiss with new found enthusiasm. Jakob seemed pleased with this as his paws fell onto the wolf's torso, claws gliding through the delicate fur. Jason moaned into the kiss, arching into the touch. I think I was drooling by the time Jakob began to kiss and nip at Jason's neck as his paws inched lower towards their destination. I turned away. Cursing myself, I silently moved away and stepped outside of the door, closing it quietly.
As I stood there outside the door and the sounds of the low groans and stifled moans met my fallen ears, I smiled however weakly. Ignoring the tears my eyes shed, dark spots matted below them, I walked away.
