As Steve watched his eyes began to water, 'no you can't start crying not know.' But the more Steve watched the more he did want to start crying. He felt like a log hollow and stiff, there was nothing that he could do, and just the thought of who might be in the body bags made him want to vomit. As the emotions began to build he felt a sudden pinch at his side. Looking down he began to become even more frightened. 'NO, no, no not now.' He thought desperately he had let his emotions get the better of him and know he was morphing. He turned around about to run into the woods his whole hand had turned into a large fingered paw with long sharp black as night nails, each nail about two inches long.

Just as he was about to reach to wood's he heard a man yell. Turning he saw a sight that made his blood run cold with terror. One of the police officers had seen him and was now running up to him, but that was not what made him freeze. 'Why me, why me' is all he could think as he stared at the roof of his house. On all fours was a large gray haired wolf with silver claws dripping with blood. The wolf looked at him smiled then jumped off the roof and ran off.

When Steve had snapped out of what he could only describe as a trance, he looked down and saw what made him happy, but at the same time rather nervous. His hand was back to normal, that was the part that made him happy but what freaked him out is that well his hand was NORMAL!!! 'What happened' he thought 'I have never changed back after I have started changing what is going.....' His thoughts were Brocken into when he heard "ahem" looking up Steve saw the police man that had been walking toward him. "Yes officer" Steve said in a polite but bewildered voice. "Is this your house young man" the cop asked, and suddenly everything that had happened came back to him all at once.

"Young man I will ask you again is that your house." The officer repeated, "Ye yes" I said a little shakily. "Then I will need you to come down to the police department to answer a few questions." He replied all I could do was nod my head and follow him to the car.

...

It was a long drive but finally we arrived at the police department. The cop helped me out of the car and escorted me inside. When we were all settled in the chief of police office the man left. For a while I was all alone, I used this time to think of what had just happened. 'I went home and found the police dragging to body's out of my house and had my little brother on a gurney bleeding from his neck.' Steve shuddered at this thought and still couldn't bring himself to think who was in those body bags, though he had the feeling he would find out soon enough. 'Then I saw that thing.' It looked like a werewolf but a few things stopped him from continuing that thought. For one there very few werewolf's alive even though the population has been thriving. The only other Werewolf near here was his mentor and his mentor had brown hair and gold claws, so that definitely made him not a suspect. Another was the Werewolf Council had forbidden any werewolf to change his form in the day unless he had no choice. The reason for this was so that no one could see us. The head of the council a man who was nearly two million years old his name being Lord Gale havingbered had made this decree, and said "If any werewolf does not wish to die than you must abide by the Blood Wolf Law's." The fact that he was nearly two million made Steve think they were all lyres. But he had heard rumors that once you reached the age of 25 or 30 you stopped aging and lived forever.

After what felt like an eternity the head of police walked in. "Hello Mister....." he paused a moment to look at the papers that were in his hand. "Oh hear it is Mr. Vansant, My name is Allan Royes, but please feel free to call me chief." As Steve studied the man he noticed that the Chief didn't appear very pleased at his being hear. "What happened to my family?!" I blurted out just wanting to cut right to the chase. Immediately the chief's attitude changed to a mixture of what look like pity and confusion. "Look Mr. Vansant I don't know how to break this to you so I will just come out with it." Steve practically wanted to rip the papers out of the man's hand just to find out what happened but he made himself relax. No point in going wolf in the middle of a police station right? Then the man continued, "You family meaning both of your parents are dead, there body's were mutilated by some animal. Whatever it was also cut your younger brother's throat open and ripped of his left leg. He has slipped into a comma and the doctors fear he may die from loss of blood." Steve just sat there staring at the man 'my parents are dead! And my brother might as well be dead.' He thought.

As time went on the Chief finally got up and said, "If you would like, I can have my deputy take you back to your house so you can see what happened for yourself." 'Yes' Steve thought 'I can get the scent of whoever did this and track them down.' The thought made his wolf form begin to push at the barrier that kept it inside. Quickly he pushed it back down not wanting lose his temper. "Yes I would like that" he said. "Then come with me" was all the chief said and brought Steve back out into the department. As Steve was walking out he noticed a girl standing about five yards away staring at him. Steve thought she looked familiar but he just couldn't place her. When he breathed in through his nose he caught a whiff of a sweet earthy sent. Like pine needles or something. He would have liked to go up to talk to her, but the deputy put him in the car and started to drive off. When they passed the girl Steve realized that she was actually very beautiful. She had long brown hair and hazel brown eyes, but the part that got most of his attention was the smile she gave him as they drove by. Blushing he quickly turned away, and began to wonder who she was, and when he could see her again. Those thoughts didn't last for long though because they were starting near his house, and he could already smell the blood. 'If I can smell that from here what will I find when I get there?'

As they pulled up in front of the house Steve got out and began to walk slowly toward the front door, or what was left of it at least. When Steve stepped over the remains of the door the sight that greeted him was one he was never likely to forget.
