What is it to Love?
A poem wrought out of pent up emotion and longing.
Loves now past flash through my mind
People now gone to my heart I bind
Friends and family, strangers and foes
To all of them a simple question I pose
There's so many words we use every day
Each one unique in its own special way
But certain words we hold for a specific few
Those words would be the words "I love you"
Now listen to me close, my dear
Yes, quiet now, lend me your ear
I say these words quite often to you
But they mean something more, it's true
What is it to love? This is my thought
What is this strange emotion we've wrought?
The bond between two people; two lovers
Is something that overpowers all others
So to you, my sweet, I'll tell you this
Don't worry, it's not something you'll miss
I love you more than anything else in this world
Even more of myself with you I've unfurled
I've never seen myself this clearly
Even when I'm sore and weary
Just a word from you and you'll see a smile
Even if I was gloomy for a while
You are my star, my shining light
Laying in your arms makes everything right
Each night spent with you is sheer bliss
And believe me, my love, there's no lie in this!
