#1 of Creative Writing

I am taking a Creative Writing class currently, and this is the first writing prompt that we were given. It is supposed to be about a subject in which we analyze it and write descriptive imagery that pertains to the five senses. My paper was one of the few that earned top marks and will be used as an example for the other Creative Writing class. So here it is!

Subject Analysis Using Imagery:

My Friend Eating Lunch

The shades of hair on his head that cascade down his back in interwoven strands are an equal mixture of lighter and slightly darker hues of blonde. Many loose strands of hair hang down around his face and nearly invisible shadows surround his face as he looks down, chewing the crusty-looking fries that smell of grease and sweat.

The black hoodie holds few shadows, but has many creases and folds that cross over and intersect endlessly. His dark navy-blue jeans have the same quality, and shadows lie underneath the smaller folds on his jeans.

He laughs, and the sound is a constantly resounding pitch that rings pleasantly in your ears.

He leans back against the faded blue wall of the school hallway, with his legs lying beneath him, tucked in close to him. His skin is a bit pale, but is a little flushed in places such as the hands and face.

The end strands of his hair lie in a tangled mess, clumped together and all facing in a hundred different directions.
