Chapter 5
The sun had just set on the warmest day of September yet, the 20th was by far the best all week. As the sun had finally set the cool night air began to fill the streets of Thunder Bay, a calm wind was gently blowing. Oddly enough there was silence around the square where the HVACS lab stood proudly; no cars or traffic on the normally busy roads.
The labs building operations staff had left for the night, other than several dozen staff cars in the underground parking, all seemed to be normal.
The main security cameras pivoted around, focusing on each detail of the perimeter. However, for one split second as they rotated, they faced away from the building; just missing a couple of shadows whip across the front of the building. A second later and they would've been caught on camera.
The three shadowed figures walked into a safe zone, as the cameras had been placed on a loop by the 'techy' one of the three.
A few men walked by, heading for their cars, getting ready to go home after a long crazy day at the office. After they had passed there was another dart from one side of the room to the other and the three shadows streaked across another security check point, around the corner and into the un-watched hall.
There were three of them, all wearing light bending suites; one of them about 5'8 and the others about 6'6. They stepped into a shadow of a wall, keeping their position concealed.
Moments after, they removed their helmets for a few minutes, Skye, Alex and Simon, also known as Black Team stood proud in their Spartan like mobile armors.
"This looks like the right place." Alex clicked on his wrist-top computer screen, "The building is the same as the schematics we stole."
"Good, then we at least know where certain things are." Skye pointed out.
"Yeah, but that wont help us in the blacked out areas that aren't on any schematic, they were added after the buildings completion and records were 'oddly' destroyed." Simon whispered back.
"Well, it's better then some missions we've been on, we at least know that this is our plan, our mission and we have our own details, nothing was left for anyone else to tamper with." Skye motioned to suit back up.
The three of them re-locked their helmets back into place, and took up their own flanking positions around one another, Skye drawing a small compact sniper, Alex, a semi-automatic scoped rifle, and Simon drawing a small plasma lance.
They faded into the shadows again, only re-appearing once and a while but covering vast distances between, before they arrived a their first check point; a small grate on the wall, leading 20m into the solid titanium walls and their first target, the main security room.
Alex pulled his small touch screen out; plugging a cord into the panned next to the vent, advising the system that some mandatory maintenance was being preformed on the HVAC system.
The grates locks clicked and the panel slide open, revealing a small opening that only a 13 year-old could actually fit through.
"Well we can actually thank Joey for the age he picked, we fit with some room to spare, even with our gear on." Simon grinned.
The three climbed into the duct, locking the grate back into place, and re-locking the system once more.
"Doesn't this seem kind of cheesy?" Alex's voice cracked over their internal coms.
"What the vents?" Skye replied.
"Yeah, you almost feel like an actual spy from those cheap movies we used to watch." Alex laughed.
"Well they can't do anything that we can, so I think these suits us, showing them up in real life." Simon's voice cracked as he laughed.
"That's the only real thing that bites bout being 13 eh? the whole voice cracking stuff." Skye replied.
A few more minutes of crawling and Black team was at its goal, a smaller panel leading into the security lounge; where large monitors and sensor relays were busy flashing around in different colours.
"So I'm going to assume we go with plan Delta-KO?" Simon asked.
"Yeah, the whole break in to the room without anyone hearing us, knocking them out before they can react and taking over sure does have its perks." Skye laughed.
The vent clicked as the locks disengaged, Skye attached a miniature steel cable to both ends, securing the grate to the wall and sat it aside.
There was a slight thud, and the three security executives swung around, only to be met with tightly clenched fists and a kick to the solarplex, the three men fell, knocked out.
"I like this plan more and more every minute." Alex smirked, as he removed his helmet, his shiny blonde hair falling out.
"Well we couldn't have done it without Becka." Skye smiled removing his helmet, his short, recently cut brown hair slipped out, still marked on the front bangs where his blonde highlights had been.
"Yeah I know, but still," Simon walked over to the control panel, removing his helmet, his soft, firm face reflecting against the shiny computer screens, perfectly framed against his hazel coloured hair, slightly longer then Skye's.
The three of them, then began their work, cross checking and backing up data they found on their mission, Project Chimaera.
"Got something," Skye motioned for the other two to come over.
"What'd you find?" Simon asked walking over, gasping as he read the screen in front of Skye.
"Seriously, they have some here!" he exclaimed.
"I thought for sure they would have had them somewhere more, I dunno, more secretive." Alex gaped.
"Right, Becka, copy this information, we're going in." Skye commanded.
"Aye, I'm ready when you are, and the course is plotted." Becka's voice mused through their minds.
Lost & Found
Skye, Alex and Simon ran down the narrow corridor, they're infiltration armor barely fitting against the cold titanium steel plates that lined the hallway.
"Its your next right," Becka's voice directed.
"Now a left, straight for another 100 meters." They stopped.
There was a solid lead doorway in front of them, welded shut, clearly not for someone's wandering eyes.
"It's through those doors." Becka instructed.
"Yeah but how are we going to get through there?" Alex countered.
"If we melt it the guards will defiantly see us, or smell the melting lead." Skye added.
"Then improvise." Becka challenged a sort of hint, hint reply.
"Fine, I'll vaporize the door, you guys cover my 3rd and 9th." Skye instructed.
"All right, be careful," Simon reminded him.
"As if you really need to say that," Skye grinned.
Skye stripped out of his armor, and closed his eyes. A split second later he was engulfed in a blaze of white fire, which quickly faded.
In his place, stood his white anthro-dragon form, stretching out his wings.
"It's going to get really hot in here." Skye grinned with his huge white teeth.
Alex and Simon grabbed their semi-automatic, three-round burst 'blazer', from its holder and shouldered the massive gun.
Skye breathed in, and opened his mouth, shooting a steady stream of white flames out of his mouth directly at the door.
There was an audible whine of the lead melting and the metal underneath it heaving in the immense heat.
A second later, Alex and Simon burst through the hole melted into the door and began taking out the armed guards on the other side, quickly followed by Skye, still in his dragon form.
A few minutes later, the room was cleared, a smoke floated across the floor where the 30 guards bodies now rest; the stench of sulfur and gun powder in the air.
"That's all of them, Skye reported to Becka, who verified that in her connection to the bases sensors.
"They're exactly 200 meters ahead of us behind that type-c titanium wall." She informed.
"All right guys lets move in." Skye responded.
"I'll try to override the security system, Simon walked up to a monitor on the wall.
"There are 10 of them inside, all male." Simon reported after working his way into the system
"All right, let's get them out, Alex walked over to Simon to help.
After a few curses from Simon and a few gasps out of Alex, there was a thud, as the locks began to disengage.
"That's done it, the doors opening." Simon reported.
"Good job, lets move in." Skye replied, as he re-sealed his helmet on his armor, looking a lot smaller then he had previously when he was in his dragon form.
The doors' final locks disengaged as it slowly fell into the floor, inside, the same familiar scene, ten 13 year-olds, each chained by one ankle to the wall, naked, and looking terrified.
"It's ok we're here to get you guys out of here." Said Skye over his helmets speakers as the three of them removed their armor.
The boys looked from each other to the three 13 year-old looking boys in front of them, offering them their freedom they had prayed for.
Come on, we've probably set off some alarm doing this!" Skye exclaimed as Alex, Simon and himself began cutting the boys out of their bonds, A few of them covering up their dicks, and the odd hard-on as they went.
"No worries mate, I've seen it all before." Skye and the other smiled.
"How do we know you're the good guys" one of them asked.
Well for starters, if we were coming to move you to another room with only three of us and 10 you, do you really think we would let all of you go at once?" Simon replied.
After they were all cut loose, the began standing up looking around at each other.
"Have any of you guys morphed yet, gone into another form/body not human?" Alex asked.
The boys turned to him looking at him as if he had three heads.
"Skye, we have to hurry, none have morphed yet, and that means they soon will." Alex warned.
"Ok guys come this way." Simon instructed as he lead them towards the exit and the control room where their clothes were.
"Were almost there guys, just hold on." Alex reassured the boys who were following them covering themselves up.
Once they were outside the control room Black team grabbed their weapons from their holsters and prepared to enter the room, their FoF, on their HUD read that there were 20 non-allied inside.
"Stay back here." Skye demanded to them, we're going to be right back.
Skye Alex and Simon each grabbed a pack of C-4 and stuck it to the control room door, prepping it to blow.
They stood back and pressed the ignition pad... there was a loud bang and the snap of the metal door. Quickly Skye tossed three flash bangs into the room, each went off one after the other, insuring they were all stunned.
Black team went in, and with several muffled claps, the room was cleared.
"It's ok you guys can come in now." Skye called to them.
The boys walked into the room some with shocked looks on their faces other with pure content as they saw black teams work.
"Here are your clothes, or PJ's to be precise." Becka appeared on a holo-pad in front of the boys.
The boys gasped, looking at the 10 new faces, seeing such an advanced team.
"There are a lot of AI's, you guys just don't see them running round" Becka spoke.
Anyways, my name is Becka, I'm team Blacks, AI, and this is my team, Skye, Alex, and Simon, all boys who were in the exact situation as you are now about 6 months ago.
"Skye," one of the boys spoke up, "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure, get dressed and well talk." Skye replied.
A few minutes later, the boys were dressed, or as dressed as you can get wearing only their pajamas, and were getting ready to leave the hell hole they've had to call home for the last week.
Skye stepped aside with the boy, "Yeah, what's up?"
"Were you really like us Skye, did Becka tell us the truth?" He asked.
"Yeah, we really were, and we felt the same way you guys probably feel now." Skye smiled, "What's your name?"
"My names Kurt" the boy said.
"Well as you know mines Skye." Skye smiled now lets get you out of here.
Alex and the others lead the boys to the front of the building, preparing to call in the motorcade for extraction.
Over Stayed Welcome?
Skye silently snapped his hand up in a fist, Alex and Simon instantly froze and waited for Skye to explain.
"We've got 30 hostiles approaching on our Evac. Point, we need to take them out and get the boys out of here." Skye relayed.
"Ok, plan Delta-KO again," Alex smirked.
"That one went over well the last time, lets try again," Skye smiled.
They moved into combat positions and drew their silenced snipers, "Let's get them long range 1st" Simon agreed.
A few seconds later and they opened fire, several muffled coughs short off at the approaching armed guards.
Several collapsed and others began to flee but still something didn't feel right.
"Something's not right, that's no offensive line, more like..." Skye was cut short on his mic, a loud thud and crack came across the com and out the speakers to the boys.
"Skye," Alex and Simon called back; but they received no answer.
"I'm calling in the air support," Alex stated.
"This is co-captain of Black team, ID code, Alpha Charlie 002, requesting immediate Extraction, an LZ has been cleared, Man down I repeat man down!" he cut the com.
"Skye if you can hear us were coming to get you." Alex shouted over his com.
"Negative I'm on my way back." Skye's voice groaned across the open com.
"Skye are you all right, we heard a..." Simon replied.
"Yeah, have you called an extraction?" Skye's voice strained.
"Yeah we have their en-route." Alex replied.
"Good, I'm coming up on your 6th." Skye pointed out.
"Simon acknowledged his position and sent the ok up ahead of the boys, to Alex.
Skye half walked, half limped up to Simon, and stood still a minute to regain his composure; his stealth armor was half melted on his left side and his right clearly had several punctures in it.
"Skye, what's your condition?" Alex asked, knowing the answer already.
"Green, now lets get these boys out of here." Skye replied.
"But look at you," Kurt walked up, "How can you be ok looking like that?"
"Just don't..." Skye got cut off by the drop ships engines as it slowly hovered down towards the LZ.
"Wow," A couple of the boys reacted; others just make a sort of gasp sound.
"That's our ticket out of here." Simon grinned gesturing to the ship and looking at the boys.
The ship landed a few seconds later, taking up the size of half a football field in front of them.
"Let's get in," Alex started herding the kids up the ramp into the ship.
The ship began to hover again slowly gaining height.
There was a loud crack, and then another, followed by a few crackles, Alex and Skye, who had been standing at the back of the ramp, fell forwards onto their knees.
"Skye, Alex!" Simon yelled running to them, as he closed the door, and shot a few of the snipers down.
Simon ran up to Alex and Skye, ripping off his helmet, and falling to his knees beside them.
Alex and Skye's Vitals on his HUD were going crazy, especially Skye's.
Alex looked at their backs, four stun rounds and three sniper rounds were protruding and impaled in their backs.
"Are they going to be ok?" Kurt asked.
Simon, grabbed his laptop and pressed the Suit's auto release, the armor hissed as it fell off, shattering upon contact with the ground, full of holes from shrapnel.
"I don't know," Simon replied, their tough, he replied as he removed the stun rounds with a pair of pliers.
A few seconds later, Skye and Alex twitched, and slowly got back up, kneeling.
The boys gathered around them, looking at the damage and their wounds.
"How the hell can you still be alive?" One boy asked, "Even with that armor you guys got wasted."
Skye stood up, and turned around; most of the shrapnel was stuck only on the surface of his skin, the same with Alex's.
Skye looked at his hand, it burst into white flames; he took it and whipped of Alex's back, melting the metal and evaporating it away, several smaller slugs clattered to the floor as Alex and Skye's bodies regenerated, pushing them out.
Alex did the same, except with a black flame, before they stood up, their clothes ripped and tattered, they decided to discard them and walk into the bridge in their boxers.
"How did everything go Sir?" the pilot asked.
"You know I can't tell you what happened." Skye replied, sitting down behind him in the co-captain's seat.
"How many of these places are there?" Skye asked to Simon and Alex, who had just joined him, "And how many boys have they got to?"
"I don't know." They replied, "But we'll get them all, save them one group at a time, and put an end to Joey once and for all." Simon tried to cheer him up.
The drop ship flew across the horizon and into the darkened night sky, back towards the place that they call home.
