"Jamie, what are you doing?" Oliver asked, looking over his shoulder. "Can you see where Jean is on that?"

"What's he doing?" he heard Oliver ask Jes behind him. He started opening his mouth to answer, but then checked himself. He didn't really care what they said anymore. He didn't care about anything anymore.

Jean was thrown, rather harshly, into an extremely small cell that she could barely fit her body into. She had only been here once before in her life when she had failed a test in training and was forced to live here while a number of viruses were being tortured for information about a small community they had been living in. It hadn't occurred to her at the time, but now that she was looking back on it, they were probably just trying to survive as a group rather than individuals.

"I hope they don't do anything stupid..." Jean sighed, looking down at her feet, which were starting to become smeared by the black soot on the ground--probably the clothing remains of someone who had been blasted into oblivion right where she was standing. The door wouldn't have held her if she could use any of her abilities, but with her hands and feet bound, there was little she could do other than rail against the door with her body, probably damaging herself in the process. Even then, what could she do? There were guards within the dungeons, and even if she did manage to somehow neutralize them, she had no idea where to go--the dungeon could only be navigated by those who had spent years learning its configuration and committing it to memory.

But ... someone wanted her now, and she wanted to be with that someone. Jean sighed and curled up on the small, hay-covered bench that was the only piece of furniture in the cell. Part of her was willing to give up her memories with Jamie, tell the Council that she had been corrupted by Jes or Lex and beg for mercy and her old position back.

Angie was still a little dumbstruck by what the Digimon who had taken Jean had said about her. They said that she was carrying a child...Lex's child. That meant that she was going to be a mother.........and Lex was going to be a father; he'd probably be really happy about that when he had a little bit of time to think about it.

"Hi, Angie," he said, giving what was obviously a fake giggle and supporting her back and stomach with his arms. She rested her head against his and started stroking the top of it soothingly.

"Did you hear what they said? I'm pregnant," she stared wistfully into his eyes, wondering what it would be like to have an egg of her own and to hold it, cuddle it, share it with her mate, watch it grow and develop...

They weren't the dark, somewhat--although she'd never tell Lex--scary red that they usually were, they were a warm pink, but then they changed back "But I'm worried for Jean...I can't let them do what they're going to do to her..."

It looks like Jamie and Oliver have worked out a way to get there." Jamie seemed to have made a shimmering, swirling purple portal to the Digital World. Lex's hand started moving in small circles on her abdomen, half-arousing her and half-making her think of having children again.

"This place is all about Vaccines, right? So I'll be alright."

"I told you, you can't stop me from following you. So don't worry about it."

Angie watched Lex's expression as he talked. He was such a good person...he cared about other people more than he cared about himself, he was loving, affectionate, nice, loyal; he was really everything that a woman could ever want. And that tongue of his was absolutely incredible...she was lucky to have snatched him up when she did before someone else realized how nice and loving he was despite his type.

After all, he had been able to deal with the WarGreymon that Jes had been fighting...

"That was fast," she giggled a little once she got put down.

It was a beautiful world...this was the kind of place that she always dreamed of finding a mate and settling down on. The whole place was made of thousands of white clouds that you could stand on. She could fly anywhere...smiling happily, she spread her wings and started flying around. Lex watched her for a few seconds, giggled, then stuck his head through the portal and said something to Jamie and Oliver, who took a little longer than Lex to get here, but still seemed like they had some kind of help.

that Jes was standing on, who promptly leapt onto her mate and started clawing angrily at him. He quickly teleported away from her, reappearing clinging to her back.

Descending down to where they were talking, Angie watched Jamie tapping at the buttons on his Digivice until he finally found something that seemed to satisfy him, and he started walking in the direction directly opposite to the portal that they had entered through.

"Jes, Angie...don't get too close, this might be dangerous..." he kept tapping away at the buttons and the screen of the Digivice. Angie had no idea what he was doing, but he seemed very intent on it, whatever it was. Suddenly, Jes twitched and looked angrily in Jamie's direction.

"Is that chaos!?!"

Angie squeaked in alarm, looking at Lex for some guidance. Surprisingly enough, Lex looked almost as shocked and alarmed as she was.

layer," Lex said with a little more anger than was usually in his voice.

"Good...then they won't be doing this again in the future."

Angie didn't know what to say...she couldn't blame him for snapping a little bit, but now that he was talking about destroying an entire layer just to get revenge....

"It's a city! There are hundreds of Digimon that live there that have nothing to do with this!"

Tragic how that works out, isn't it?"

Angie hoped they weren't going to fight, both of them seemed very unhappy. "Would she want you to kill an entire city and hopet that you manage to get her out somehow?"

"But I don't care about any of that anymore."

"As much as I like the view from here, how to we get over there?"

Angie had never seen him this hostile. She sighed and tried to placate him by stroking his head.

"I'm not going to help anyone kill hundreds of people."

"I can do it myself." With that, him and his little disc of chaos started floating in the direction of the only other feature of the layer that wasn't a cloud--a massive island floating in the middle of the layer on which stood an impressive, medieval looking castle.

Lex watched Jamie as he started flying toward the Citadel on the small converted bit of chaos that he had somehow managed to summon by decompiling one of Jes' abilities and recompiling it onto his own presence in the Digital World. That human had no idea what he was dealing with; if he messed up, there was going to be much more at stake here than his own life.

He couldn't blame him...he would probably do the same thing in his position if someone had taken Angie away from him like that. "I can't let him go alone, Angie...besides, we still have to get Jean..."

As far as he knew, there was only one way in, and that was the main gate; apparently, it was somehow made sentient and questioned the people who went through it on their reasons for being at the Citadel. Lex was curious to see what his response was going to be--'I'm here to rescue someone that you guys took away from me' just didn't seem like it was going to work, unless it just recorded what people said and let everyone pass anyway.

"Who are you, and what is your business here?" Despite the seriousness of the situation, Lex couldn't help but giggle at Jamie's face when he heard the door talk; apparently that didn't happen very often in the Real World. He didn't even answer the first time it said anything, he just stood there dumbfounded, looking like a complete idiot until it repeated itself in a more adamant tone.

Who are you, and what are you doing here?"

"And who are they?" the door asked, presumably asking about the two viruses that were accompanying him.

"Those are my friends, Angie, Lex and Jes."

"Very well," the door replied. Lex's mouth almost opened in surprise, but he was relieved. He didn't want Angie to have to see him die...to be honest, he didn't really have much of an interest in dying.

Jes wasn't drawing as much attention since she was in her child form and being carried around by Oliver--she looked harmless enough when she was curled up in his arms like that, so he didn't think that she was in much danger. Instead, they were all staring in his direction...

But me..." he tried to hide himself by flipping his hood up and hunching his head down.

Lex smiled, despite the fact that he could feel tears welling behind his eyes. She was always so happy...it was nice for him to be around someone that was always happy. It made him feel better. He hoped that nothing was going to happen to her while she was here...

"What's underneath us?"

Lots of scrolls and books with Digimon who do nothing but write in them for their entire lives."

in here before, Jamie...I've just watched it for a day or two..."

What else is down there?"

Holding his hands tightly, she knelt down to his level. "I don't want you to get hurt."

"They're going to kill her. They're going to kill her because she couldn't bring herself to kill me. It's my fault, really..."

"No, it's not...it's their fault for thinking all viruses are evil. You're not..."

He closed his eyes for a few seconds, picturing when he would feel comfortable enough to tell Angie all of his life story, and all of the terrible things that he had done. He knew what he thought she would do...she would be patient and listen through all of it, holding and kissing him when he got to parts he still had trouble with, and in the end she would still want to be with him, and she would wrap her soft wings around him and be there for him whenever he needed her...but there was still that small chance that she would be so terrified and afraid of him after hearing that story that she wouldn't want to be with him any longer and she would just leave, flying out of his life for good.

"Why can't we just be left alone?" Lex wondered out loud, clinging tightly to Angie, now crying very loudly.

"It isn't fair..."

"I can't fight all these Digimon...I'm useless, Angie..." he started crying even harder than before.

Lex didn't know how to handle someone being so nice to him...he broke down and leaned completely on Angie, giving her the most passionate, loving kiss that he could imagine. After a minute or so of that, while Oliver and Jamie were arguing over by the corner of a building, Angie finally removed her head from his hood, which fell off his head in the process. He didn't bother to put it back up.

She was so good to him. "Sometimes...it just feels like there's no point..."

She kissed him again for a split second, then slid her head next to his ear.

"Mmm..." Angie slipped her tongue into Lex's muzzle for a moment, then suddenly stopped kissing him. "What?"

Lex nodded a little, feeling ashamed of himself, then reached his hand behind him to put his hood back up over his head. At least they hadn't attacked them...he didn't know if there was a way to get Angie to safety without sacrificing himself if they decided to turn on her for being with him.

Lex tried his best to look like an unoffending Digimon, tilting his head to one side and trying to look cute. "But he's also the most caring, affectionate person that I've ever met in my life. He has more love than I knew someone could have. I do my best to love him back, but I don't know if I can undo the damage that Digimon like you have done to his emotions." she bent over and kissed the top of his head. "Do you have a problem with him being her?" At this point, she was almost growling at them.

The group kind of dispersed after a few murmurings in between them.

"Angie...?"

I think Oliver's starting to get Jamie upset."

If she really thought those things about him, then he didn't have anything to worry about...ever...

Jean coughed up a little blood; the Council had done more damage to her than she had thought. She had managed to get her bonded wrists from behind her to in front of her to remain a little bit more comfortable, but she was going to have to try to fit her feet in between them so she could make it look like she hadn't gotten out.

Will you be calling any witnesses to give testimony on your behalf?" She wasn't expecting anyone to ask questions like that through the small slit in the doorway, so she answered without thinking.

If she gave them too much information, they might have been able to actually find Lex, Jes, Jamie and Oliver, and she certainly didn't want that. Lex and Jes would probably be killed after her judgment was rendered, and she was going to die regardless of what they said, so it was useless to do anything anyway...

"I will accept the Council's judgment."

She felt herself drawn to her feet by the powers and abilities, whether she wanted to or not. She only had a few more hours...minutes, maybe, to survive. "Follow me." The door opened. The Digimon that had been speaking to her was a tall, white-robed Digimon wearing a bleach-white mask. Second only to the members of the Councils in their knowledge of the complicated systems of laws that governed the Citadel. They were the Adjudicators, and they were among the most powerful, most knowledgeable Digimon in the Citadel.

She sighed and closed her eyes, watching the ground and trying to make sense out of the pattern that was etched into the stone. That was when she sensed it first: two viruses within the walls of the Citadel itself. Normally, that wasn't so unusual, but these ones...these felt just like Jes and Angie.

"Jamie!" she yelled his name as she finally caught sight of him. She leapt at him, hoping that he would catch her, which he of course did. "Jamie, what are you doing here?!?!" she yelled at him angrily, nuzzling him crazily, trying to maximize body contact with him.

"Aren't you guarded or something...?"

"Can you--" She felt the bonds behind her back snap, then saw Lex giggle--apparently, he was more powerful than the Artificers that had made the bonds.

Jamie almost growled in anger, pressed a few buttons on his Digivice, and did something that she had never seen before--she saw a long, thin line of pinkish, multi-colored stuff go through the air streaking towards the group of Interdictors and the Adjudicator. It ended in a massive explosion that almost blinded Jean. When she opened her eyes, Jamie had moved in front of her. In the Digital World, he moved pretty quickly for a human...

none of you are going anywhere." The voice of the Adjudicator came through the pinkish fog that was still lingering over the area affected by whosever attack that was.

"That Chaos should have killed you..."

It was how the floating island that it sits on was separated from the layer above us, actually." Jean didn't know about that--she didn't know about anything that was going on. Was that Chaos that Jamie had just used...how did he do that? He was human...maybe that was it...

It doesn't matter, I guess. I'm still leaving, and I'm taking Jean with me."
