(Edit) Yeah I realize they have only known each other for a short time but I feel like Craig is perfectly capable of evaluating people before he lets them into his life.

"Craig?"
I asked as I pulled over, curious as to what this problem could be. I pulled off onto the shoulder of the street as I tucked the phone in between my cheek and shoulder so I could get my car and everything noisy adjusted.
"Heh yeah it's me. So I was calling to ask if you could do me a huge favor."
He tried to say casually but I picked up on the nervousness in his normally calm voice.
"Sure, what is that?"
I inquired coolly as I rested my head on my paw. 'Why would Craig be nervous? I mean he's only known me for a little while but it's not like I'm intimidating or anything like that' I thought to myself as I sat inside my now almost silent car, listening to the cars pass by softly. He chuckled a bit.
"Well I'm kind of stuck at work; I went start my car and the piece won't do anything but sputter and since I live by myself nobody else can get me. I can walk to meet you somewhere or try to call someone else if you don't want to...."
Trey trailed off as I could hear him shuffle his feet against the dirt. I looked at the time and saw it was only 9:30 so I figured he couldn't be far and sounded like he really needed the help.
"No, just stay in your car and I can be there soon."
I said firmly and clicked on my GPS to get ready to type in the address.
"Okay, where exactly are you bud?"
I heard some papers rustle over the phone as I he mumbled to himself before letting out a sigh of relief.
"It's 1463 East Vine. Sorry I just started so I had to get the address off one of my checks heh"
He chuckled nervously as I smiled, thinking of how cute he must look. He probably looked like a little puppy dog who lost his mother, those big green eyes pleading with me. How could I say no?
"Hey, so I can be there in fifteen minutes if that. I'll see you soon."
He was talking a mile a minute before I even finished.
"Oh my god bro, thank you so much! I thought I was fucked and had to get a cab or tow" He exclaimed. "I owe you hardcore!"
I laughed and shook my head "No repayment needed man, I'll see you soon"
I pulled the phone out from its area between my head and shoulder and set it in the cubby below the stereo and popped the clutch as I shifted into first and started towards the location. It was a pretty quiet drive since I was listening to the prompts from the GPS. Looking around I noticed I was heading into the industrial area of town, it was kind of eerie at night with all the concrete buildings with windows, some broken, reflecting the moonlight every direction. I shook the feeling as I neared the spot.
"Turn right in 500 feet"
"Hey hey, shut the hell up Karen!"
I jokingly yelled as I neared the parking lot where he was, and yes I do name my electronics just so I can scream at them when they irritate me. I looked around and finally saw him next to a white car in the back of the lot. As I pulled closer with my lights shining on it, my jaw dropped when I realized what Trey was driving. It was a pristine 86' Corolla AE86! I slammed on the brakes and yanked the E-Brake up as I quickly got out of my car to better examine it.
"Is that your car?!" I questioned, my tail wagging quickly against my car as I looked over at it as I tried to hide my excitement.
"Yeah, this is it"
He answered softly as he walked over to my car, rubbing the back of his head nervously and looking at the ground. Once he got to the door he finally looked up and gave a weak smile.
"Thanks again, I really appreciate it. Although I really would have liked to meet you so you wouldn't have to see what I drive...."
He trailed off and looked down again. I couldn't help but scoff at his reaction; he was actually ashamed to drive that car!
"What do you mean? This is in amazing shape and it's all original I can tell by just looking at it! It's a really nice change from seeing all the little asswipes that run around with fart cans and spray painted steelies."
I mused and shot him a small smile, trying to brighten his mood a little. He looked up and smiled back, tail wagging slowly behind him. God he looked so cute like that.
"You really mean that? Well thank you."
I smiled more as I started my car. "Hey it's the least I can do; besides if you wanted I really would like to help you fix what is making it not want to start." I looked over at him and grinned, trying to gage if he would actually like to work on his car with me. He blushed and nodded sheepishly.
"Yeah! I mean only if you wanted to Craig, fuel systems are kind of a bitch to work on and I don't even know how hard it would be to convert it to fuel injection or at the least rebuild the carb."
It just gets better! He's humble and he is polite but he also knows what he is doing for the most part and he's just a piece of eye candy I thought as I nodded and smiled.
"It would be my pleasure! Is it safe to leave here? And how do I get to your house from here? I'm not familiar with the industrial area at all..."
"Oh I don't live down here! I actually live a few miles east from this area; it's just the only place I could find a job, its shitty just packing things all day for shipping but at least its money.
"Yeah" I murmured as I pulled back onto the street. "Okay where to Magellan?"
He chuckled and shook his head, looking straight forward and pointing the same way "That way! Land away!!" He shouted and I couldn't help but start laughing before he cut me short.
"Hey got any music we can put on?"
I nodded and with a grin pointed to my iPhone connected to the stereo. "Find anything you'd like on there"
"Okay!"
He began thumbing through the contents until I looked over to see what was taking so long. Trey had a big grin on his face and his green eyes were sparkling as he looked over at me, his tail thumping quickly against the seat.
"This is my absolute favorite album! And this is my favorite song! I can't believe you like them too!"
He squealed like a teenage girl meeting 'The Beebs'. As soon as he clicked on the song I couldn't believe my ears, it was 'Lauren's Song' from the 'Hell Is What You Make It' album. I was in awe; he was perfect in every way and it just kept getting better and better.
"Hey me too! This is their best song they made for sure!! I hope you don't mind if I sing"
He shook his head and gave me that heart melting smile again. "Not at all! I sing too when I'm listening to them heh"
And with that we both started softly singing, getting louder as the chorus came closer. I was in heaven; here I was, plain old Craig Thompson next to the most gorgeous shepherd I've ever met and to top it off he was singing in the most beautiful voice practically right to me. It's amazing I didn't drive right off the road with how much as I started at him. He was perfect and I hoped maybe just maybe he felt the same way about me....
***************************************************************************
'Every shooting star reminds me of when Hollywood lost the brightest. That shine, that spark; the sun set too soon that night....'
I looked over at him and turned back to staring out the window instead of him.
'He's amazing! His voice is angelic and he's so sweet. And I think he was looking at me, I wonder what he's thinking.' I thought to myself as I noticed the street signs.
"Hey take a right up here" I pointed and he gave me a big grin.
"Okay!" He downshifted and slammed on the gas as we slid around the corner, both of us laughing like pups that had found a chew toy.
"Damn you're a good driver man!" I exclaimed as we slowed back down and crept through my street, if you could call his loud car creeping. "Where did you learn that?"
He chuckled and gave a smug grin. "Oh that? I was just born naturally talented at everything, didn't you know?"
I playfully punched him in the arm and giggled. "Not so good at dodging punches though are you?!" I smiled and looked back out his windshield as we pulled in front of my complex.
"Well this is it, home sweet hole" I spoke softly as I we stepped out. I saw Craig's expression change as he looked closer at the premises.
"That....that is your place?" He stammered as I nodded.
"Yeah, that's it" I said solemnly as I started walking towards the building with the boarded up window and drunk passed out on the steps. I carefully tiptoed around the big Saint Bernard in tattered clothes as I fumbled with my keys in the lock. Before I was able to unlock the door I felt a paw on my arm, I turned to look into his icy blue eyes as he shook his head.
"Go ahead and open it, I'll follow"
I cocked my head and finally opened the door after it felt like I had been staring at his eyes for hours when it really was only a few seconds. Inside the lobby it was a little better but there were strange stains on the burgundy carpet and a draft from the window that really wasn't anymore.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I twisted my foot paw into the ground, fiddling with my zipper.
"We're packing you a bag. You can't stay here especially without a car. How are you going to get anywhere and if anything happened you wouldn't be able to leave. So you're gonna stay the night at my place, besides I can drive you around to class or work until your car is fixed it's not like you don't like my car" He stuck his tongue out as he finished.
I nodded, he was right I really couldn't go anywhere with no car since the buses don't even come down this part of town, we slowly started to ascend the stairs up to my apartment on the second floor, 213. I had my key ready as we neared the door so we could get in quickly to avoid the strange smells in the hallway. I opened the door for him, speaking softly as it swung open.
"It's nothing special but its home. Make yourself feel comfortable, I'm gonna pack a few things and I'll be done soon."
**************************************************************************************
When he opened the door, I was pleasantly surprised. For being such a dive he had really nice possessions inside.
"Make yourself feel comfortable"
I nodded and walked around as he packed his things. He has a good sized LCD TV, probably at least 32 inches, and Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3 connected to it, a Harmon Kardon home theater system, and a huge collection of DVD's beside that.
"He's got a good taste in movies too" I mumbled as I turned around and realized I needed to use the bathroom. I started walking towards his bedroom and gently tapped on the door.
"Hey Trey, where's the bathroom?"
He opened the door and I had to clamp my muzzle shut to it didn't drop and I didn't drool. He was dressed only in a pair of tighter basketball shorts with a toothbrush in his muzzle. He was very fit; he had very large yet toned pecs with black nipples jutting out from his caramel fur that went down in a trail over his clearly defined abs before disappearing into his waistband. Below the shorts was a similar sight, clearly defined but toned legs. As he started brushing his teeth he pointed with his other paw to a door on his right and got to see both of his beefy arms flex every which way, I was in heaven.
I nodded and walked into the bathroom, it was small but still perfectly functional. It had dark wood cabinets that were only veneer as you could see pieces peeling and chipping away, that was covered by off white tile on the counter top the went along the wall until it filled the walls around the bathtub/shower. The walls were white at some point but from the use of many tenants had become a yellowish tint but surprisingly still hadn't peeled away and the floor was a dark colored tile with discolored grout. You could tell Trey tried to compensate since he had light green towels with green, brown and black stripped rugs covering a lot of the floor.
I used the toilet and flushed, washing my paws before I opened the door. I brought my paws to my nose and smelled the soap and smiled a bit. Still to this day I have no idea how cucumber melon soap can smell so fantastic. When I opened the door Trey was dressed unfortunately, my to my chagrin.
"Ready?
I asked as we walked into his front room and he nodded as he mumbled.
"Yeah"
He locked the door and we descended the stairs and headed towards my car.
********************************************************************
I heard the small chirp as Craig unlocked the door, opening my door and tossing my bag in the back. We sat down and he started the car and soon we were easing past my house and back onto the main streets.
"Trey, I couldn't help but notice you don't have many well any pictures of your family, why is that?"
I splayed my ears and looked back out the window as soon as I heard those words come out of his muzzle. I hated when people brought up my past, it was hard enough to live it I didn't want to relieve it again and again.
"I-I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked..." He spoke quickly as I watched his grip on the wheel tighten.
"No, it's okay. I mean you're the first person I've ever actually really asked for help so you have a right to know about my past but it's a long story."
Craig continued watching the road as he spoke softly "I like long stories....."
