Internal Auditor 6

"What do you think about boss?" Large paw rummaged through the piles of peanut strewn across the table.

"What about him?" His voice was deep and bass-like, fairly suitable for the hardcore demeanour of a strong rhino. Sitting right across was another thick-clad mammal that matched identically with him, munching along with the peanuts in his mouth.

"Don't you think this job is a little too much?"

The other blinked briefly before laughing aloud. "You're kidding me, right? Seriously? Please say you are cause in all my years of working with you, as my twin brother, I've never heard those words before."

"You do now." He frowned away.

"Got cold feet now?" The other continued munching. "We've signed a contract, brother. You and I know that we can't pull back now. Rules are rules."

"And rules are meant to be broken... depending on the situation."

"Blake Wendell Laison."

Both rhinos stopped at those words. His brother usually calls him by name in full whenever he was angry or irked at his behaviour. Apparently, this was one of those moments. Blake sighed over at his twin brother, shaking his head while looking away, munching along deeply. Although he knew the consequences of their work but he was beginning to feel slightly guilty. His honed and adept skills of being a bodyguard has improved tremendously whenever he worked for illegal parties and their payment something that one should laughed about. For one assignment, about millions could have been in their bank accounts and that was a million each. It may not be the best work around but it was something to keep them living.

"Black..."

"Don't you 'Black' at me, brother," the other stood and walked towards him. "This one could actually afford our lifestyle for about years to come and I don't want you screwing this up because of some 'conscience'."

Black snorted aloud with both arms crossed against his massive chest. He stood at least six feet tall and in comparison to others, they were the largest. Both men wore black as per stated in their requirements and they lived in accordance to their employment. As of now, they were accommodated with a large suite with plenty of luxurious equipments at their disposal. Two large beds separated among each other for space while a large kitchen area for any cooking or dining. The hall filled with games galore, ranging from all types of gaming consoles. At the end corner was the training room where both men tried to keep their physique and strength up as well. They knew that this was temporary but was part of their deal.

Blake looked up and sighed once more. "I'm not trying to screw this up but don't you think we should have stopped at the last assignment? You agreed to stop working like this, no?"

"Brother, look," Black lowered and faced him. "I did agree to stop working like this after the last assignment but you have to admit, this wolf is paying us triple the amount that we usually get. This is quite a deal if you ask me."

"I know but I can't bear to do this anymore. The past few were horrendous. It still gave me nightmares!"

Black quickly hugged his brother, easing his tension. "Shh. Quiet. Don't think about that event. That was horrible. I try to forget that part too. It's not easy but try not to think about it. Always remember that it wasn't your fault. Accidents happen."

"But..."

"Shush. Enough." They pulled apart. "Blake, you're my only brother that I have and my only living family. I want you to be happy."

Blake smirked and pushed him off. "You're acting like you're my dad."

The fallen rhino laughed heartedly. "Of course I can be dad! I'm older, no?"

"Pfft! By a few minutes!"

"Yeah? So? I'm still older than you," his large arms quickly caught hold of Blake's neck and nudged his head. "Furthermore, I feel obliged to be responsible for you."

Blake laughed while grasping upon those large biceps, trying to free himself from the playful assault of brotherly love. "Ack! Okay! I give! You win! Lemme go!"

"Not till you say who's stronger."

"Me!"

"You're going down, brother of mine." Black strangled as he pinned him down.

"Okay! You! Need to breath!"

The stronger rhino relented to release as he continued to prove his strength but his brother put on quite a fight, trying to bring himself up. In the end, they were caught in a wrangle but happy with each other's comfort. Difficult times may lie ahead for these two brothers but whatever lies, they knew that the time to retire is soon to come

Blinding light pierced through the room and the sun was right about up, signaling the start of the day. The windows did a poor job of covering those rays and frankly enough; it was disturbing Smith from his deep slumbers. He moaned and tried to cover his eyes; clearly not eager to get up. The lazy feline continued to stir and turn around but came to an abrupt halt when he felt a body behind his back. His eyes shot open and blinked several times, trying to recollect memories from yesterday night. Whatever it was, it was a little hazy and seemed that his brain decided to continue on sleeping.

Last night... this is my office...

Eyes darted forward and scrutinized along the four walls. It is my office. What happened last night? Did I get drunk?

Smith blinked once more but his brain continued to play dead on his account. Frustrated as he was for the morning, he grunted slightly and grinded his back against whatever he had behind. Soft, fluffy... wait... are those muscles? Paws traveled back and the first contact was a pair of butt cheeks. Fingers carefully poked and massaged against them and before he knew, a small groan came along.

Somebody is behind me... sounds like a male and... wait... Speedy?

His paws went lower and grab hold a long tail that matched similarly to his. Yep, definitely a tiger and it was Speedy. Smith's heart leaped with glee at that thought. Finally, he actually slept with another male; about time too. He was getting bored of waking up alone with an alarm clock beeping around every morning, just him and that infernal device. This was a nice change.

Turning over to face his beloved tiger, Smith smiled when Speedy peeked through, pretending to be asleep. "You're bad at pretending."

Speedy closed both eyes shut and started snoring aloud. His massive arms wrapped around him and pulled both of them close together, Smith purring at such affection. The tiger looked back at him and fumed. Apparently, he likes to play coy under his nose.

"Get up, it's morning."

"Awwww...." Speedy cooed. "I don't wannaaaa..."

"Dude, you're acting like a child."

The said tiger blinked and licked on his nose. "Older than you, that's for sure."

"Then act your bloody age." Smith pinched his nose.

Speedy inhaled through his nose and tried to shake that paw away. "Me need breathe!"

"And you two need to dress up and get ready for work before Alice and Chamil comes in." A heavy voice broke through and they quickly turned to the source. Largo was standing by the door with arms akimbo; he smirked at those two naked felines. "For the record, I'm okay with relationships of whatsoever or if you fuck in front of me but if you fucked up work, I'll fuck you."

Speedy laughed aloud. "Better listen to him, hun. You don't want to mess with a big bull."

"Pfft. I've taken a bull before. In fact, just last week." Smith said while stretching up, keeping those muscles alive for the day.

"No, you seriously don't want to mess with Largo. Come, get up. There's a shower room around here, right?"

"Yep."

Largo shook his head and closed the door when he left. It was about one hour before the company started trading for the day and he wanted to keep himself fresh. Last night was definitely a huge knockout for the bull but he hoped that today would be better. However, finding two butt-naked felines on the office couch wasn't part of what he defined as a good day. Largo wasn't bias against fucking a male since he had participated in such carnal acts but all in all, he preferred females more than the males. It was rare for him to turn head over heels for a piece of muscled hunk but when one does so, the bull goes all out for it.

Largo placed his briefcase lightly on the table before opening it up, carefully watching as the two stripped felines got something decent to dress up on and shower in between. These two males aren't bad either. He had known Speedy for quite a while now since they were in the same audit team three years ago and both knew how they fared in terms of masculinity. The tiger had some really nice ass and tail and those sinewy muscles were of his taste. Large and prime, just the way he liked it. Then, Smith came along. Although the feline wasn't as large as Speedy was, all in all, he was a well rounded stud.

The bull heard a click and the door swung open as a raccoon burst in, slamming the door behind. "I just come in here for one minute and I've got water splashed on my suit. What kind of behaviour is that! Argh!!"

The three males were shock at Chamil's outburst but kept quiet. "Can't these people do anything right for once? Geez! I'm gonna break this case and make sure that I stripped this company off from its profits!" She finally turned, finely greeted with two naked males, cocks still hanging loose.

"Hello... Hello..." She grinned. "What have we here?"

"Ack! Chamil! It's not what you think!" Speedy quickly dressed up.

Largo silently sighed at the raccoon's behaviour. "Smith, Speedy. Go shower, change and get back here in half an hour. If you're not here within that period, consider yourself late at clocking in and there will be a bunch load of work for you by then. Get to it."

"But!"

"Now!!" He bellowed.

In no time, two stripped felines were properly dressed for work and the team was ready for another day's labour. Throughout their audit procedure, Smith kept smiling and blushing towards Speedy. He wasn't able to keep his glee about what happened last night and he was not ashamed of it, at all. Instead, the tiger kept lashing his tail about whenever he sat near Speedy, coiling around each other, making him purr in between breaths. Legs were brushed and intimately played with, all under the table of work but that didn't last long enough when Largo requested for him to redo the inventory calculation. Apparently, he was careless and made some amateur mistakes.

"You're clearly not focusing on your work." Largo snorted.

"Sorry..." Smith gingerly caught hold of his calculator and started working those numbers back again.

And yet, that didn't stop him from playing around with Speedy. They laughed and talked like old friends during breaks. This definitely caught the attention of the other two females but the bull had warned them to keep it all quiet. They have a case at hand and whatever happens is secondary. Primary target: get to the bottom of this with proper evidence. Eventually, more things began to surface from the company's report.

Alice, the lovely and elegant pony, managed to pin down evidence on improper handling of inventories and Chamil, the boisterous raccoon, uncovered a revelation that Smith had never thought of before. Apparently, Repo Roof, the company they are working on, had another subsidiary involved in daily dealings. However, the tiger didn't know about this turn of events due to the subsidiary being claimed as a Special Purpose Entity.

"Special Purpose Entity or also known as SPE, is a company where they are not required to be consolidated into the company's yearend financial report. Thus, the reason for such low inventory count but higher cost," Chamil read out the terms.

"So... basically Repo Roof, this company, had opened a SPE in order to reduce the cost of inventories and yet, maintenance cost increases?" Smith inquired.

"Practically, yes."

"From the report that I've obtained, the company has low inventory turnovers and yet, gained so much profit. Isn't that something?" The tiger closed the report book slowly.

"W-ell... from the reports, it seemed so." Chamil pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Vessel."

The rest turned, facing Largo. "Repo Roof is using Pero Roof, the SPE, as a vessel to pack whatever unnecessary cost into that subsidiary. That subsidiary do not requires consolidation unless needed to under the law but as we can see here, Repo Roof is misusing this SPE as a vessel."

Smith fumed. "It's not possible. I have thoroughly checked through every invoices and Purchase Order that this company has dealt with and I've never seen any... Pero Roof."

"Look for yourself." Largo threw a stack of invoices towards him.

The tiger flipped into its content and found several dealing cases between this company and another called 'Pero Roof'. From what he understood, Pero Roof was this company's unlisted subsidiary and lay as low as possible from the eyes of investors. At each signed dealings, he found that most were approved, generally, by Mr. Shaun, himself! That wolf had no right to perform such duties even though, him, being the CEO of this company. He should have been there when this happened but he wasn't.

"Where did you get this?" Smith leafed through the pages.

"In the trash can, where else," the bull casually spoke. "You'd think that these bastards would want to leave such information lying around? I'm surprised that they threw this out into the usual paper dumpster."

"Wait... you scavenged through the dumpster?"

Both girls giggled and laughed at the tiger.

"What? Something I said?"

"Smith, once you've been in this line of work long enough, you'd want to get things done fast and most corporate like this throws information like that into waste. We have our ways of getting things done and we have our leads and - "

A knock came from the door. "Mr. Smith, may I talk to you for a second?"

Everyone was rooted to the ground and none spoke a word. Speedy looked at Largo and the rest before nodding at the tiger, giving a thumbs up.

"Um... Yes, s-sure." Smith stammered and got to his feet, pacing towards the door.

"I know that the audit team is in there. So, could we talk outside?" The voice was distinctive enough and he knew who it was. It was Shaun and he wanted to talk to him, outside, without any backup.

"Can't we talk inside?"

"It's rather important that we discuss this in private."

Speedy gently placed a paw on to the tiger's shoulder, whispering softly. "Go but be careful. Keep your guard up. I'll follow you from behind with Largo, don't worry."

Smith looked up and smiled back, nodding with approval. Within seconds, he was out and was immediately greeted by the wolf. Smith had to ground the urge to scowl and claw at his face with his perfectly sharp claws but what stopped him was two large men right at the back. Two large muscled rhinos, standing at least a head taller than both of them, arms crossed with an intimidating look.

Nothing much could be said about them. Wore black with sunglasses on, their suits perfectly matched with each other's large bulk and frame but what truly stands out were how flat they looked. Not a single smile or grin came from them. They were intimidating, yes but looked a little lifeless deep inside. Their eyes fixed upon the tiger, lips sealed tight, preparing to receive orders from the wolf.

Shaun felt the need to explain but gathered that things would be better of unknown. He led the tiger into another room, passed through one or two employees but never making eye contact. Soon, a large door opened up and it was the board room. At this hour, perfectly empty and ready to be used at any time of the day.

Smith half expected for those two rhinos to barge right in too but they were ordered to stand guard. The door closed with a click and the two males stood in silence. The wolf had his paws into his pocket, staring absentmindedly towards the window. Smith knew his philosophy, his understanding and his wants, his ultimate motive towards the business world. That staggering thought kept haunting over his dreams but he knew that this would end soon.

The canine paced around the room as he looked outside, never once did he made eye contact. His paws gently scraped through the window and sighed heavily. This wasn't going to be good. "I presume that things are going smoothly with them?"

Smith hesitated briefly. "I-It's going... well..."

His voice dropped to a silence, waiting for a reply from the wolf but none came. Rather, they were kept quiet for at least a minute.

"I do not like your tone, Mr. Smith." The wolf sneered.

"What is there to like? I have pushed all responsibility towards my side to let you free. Would you think that I'll be happy about this? I don't think so." Smith lied confidently. He knew that part of it were true but mostly lies.

Eventually, another round of silence and it was starting to irritate the tiger. His claws were punched on to the nearest wooden table as he tried to stay calm and collected. He didn't like this one bit. Despite his efforts to make it seemed like a lie, he swear to god that it would work. With the wolf's back facing towards him, there was no telling what his expression was. Would he smirk at that comment or probably shrug it off? Perhaps he knew that he was lying but cared not to show. Or maybe, he was just cynical. Whatever the consequences, he hoped and prayed that he bought it.

"You speak the truth, Mr. Smith."

Look at me son of a bitch!

As if on cue, he did. Shaun leaned on to the window and looked at the tiger with earnest. He had that smug little grin of his back again. Oh, he hated that smug. It always showed that he was either one step ahead of him or just playing tricks with his actions. That sarcastic smirk could have killed the Cheshire cat hands down but rather than speaking in riddles, Shaun spoke in business.

"I do trust you, Smithy, I really do."

What a load of bull. You never trusted me.

"In fact, so much so that I trust that you would not go against me." Shaun leaned forward, leering deeply into the tiger. "I do trust that."

_And I trust that you will fall._Smith clenched both fist into a ball of fiery anger.

"If I did, a bullet would have landed into my brain."

"Oh! Very good Mr. Smith! You learn fast! Accolades to you!" He clapped.

Do not patronize me... bastard!

"Cut the crap, Shaun. If you're done, I have work to do." Smith growled in anger and headed towards the door.

"Smith." The wolf snapped.

He stopped.

"Do not go against me, I repeat again, do not go against me. You have no idea who you're dealing with."

Another dose of anger and resentment shot through his veins and it took most of his willpower to not pounce and beat the crap out of him. He knew that that wasn't going to work since two meatheads were standing guard right outside the door. If anything, he'll probably get beaten down within a few seconds and he wasn't up for a rough fight with two large rhinos. Hard it may be to take in those words but he swallowed them up. His pride may be at stake but his life was far more important. "I bid you good day, Shaun."

"...Good day to you too... Mr. Smith..."

The door opened and was immediately greeted by two muscle bound guards. "I would like to pass through, if I may."

Both grunted and made way for him, allowing the lithe tiger, in comparison, to pass through with ease. They turned back and looked forward as they eyed at the tiger. Blake, the younger of the rhino, stared at the feline with great earnest. This may be his job but he never really liked the corporate world one bit. The rhino sighed softly, followed by a snare from Black.

Don't even think about it! Black shot an eyeful at his brother.

What! I'm not! Blake shook away.

Don't lie to me, I know you are.

Blake frowned and snarled away. Stop it.

You stop.

Shut up!

Shut up! The other glared.

It may seem awkward but both brothers were still commutable through glances and gestures. However, Shaun stood between the two before they could finish up and chuffed softly. They waited for their next order but it did not come. Rather, the wolf strolled away to the pantry, adjusting his suit once more and left two stranded rhinos to figure out their next task. With that, Blake had made up his mind.

The door opened up and closed with a soft click, Smith leaned back and sighed softly, clearly disappointed with the outcome. Peering upwards, he saw the audit team, standing and awaiting for his explanation of what happened. They froze, waited for a word but not a sound. The tiger rubbed the back of his head before shrugging it off. With clear vindication, he ushered them to continue with their advances. It doesn't really matter if he was to die from his work but he had had enough of that bastard. In fact, he had had enough of him pushing him around like a nobody.

The image of the very first night when he encountered the wolf crossed through his mind, sneering at that thought. He couldn't believe that he actually allowed for him to blow him off. It was totally absurd! Heck, even the thought was ridiculous. How could he even let him do that... After what he had done? He should have taken that sorry ass of his and pummeled him to the ground, making him cry and beg for mercy.

Smith growled and pinched the bridge of his nose. Why did it have to happen in the first place...

Speedy came over and pulled the tiger to a corner, giving him a hard head rub in the process. "Come here you little thing."

"Hey hey hey, I'm not a thing." Smith chuckled.

"To me, you are a little thing," he kissed on his forehead. "We won' t press on the matters between you and Shaun. You just do what you have to do and we'll do the rest, okay?"

Smith smiled at him, happy that he was taken care off. Looking over to the side, Largo, Chamil and Alice gave thumbs up. All wasn't lost after all. He had others to depend on rather than doing this all by himself. Granted, it wasn't the best way to deal with it since he would still have his license revoked from such activities but the motivation of others pushed him for the better and a tiger to hug him throughout his journey, it was all worth it.

"Thanks guys, you're the best. Actually, you are the best around."

"Ohhhhhh!!! Don't flatter us like that, you're just as good as you are." The raccoon came over and hugged tightly.

"Yeah, you just needed some guidance, that's all." Largo smiled.

"And of course, professionalism." The other female said.

The tiger nodded. "Yeah, thanks."

In their agreement, they have decided to take a break from it all and perhaps prepare for lunch. That was when the door swung open abruptly with a bang as two large males came in. The crash was loud enough to have Smith jumped right out of his skin but that was slowly flared into anger and despise, teeth seething through lips, fist balled up, ready for battle; Speedy was about to do the same as well.

Shaun's bodyguards approached forth and blocked the entrance completely, their bodies and frame nearly twice the size of Speedy. Muscles bulged through their darkened suits as they stood proudly with chest puffed up high. If they weren't so intimidating, Smith would have drooled over them from then on but what he had between them wasn't something that he would cherish for life. They worked for Shaun as his bodyguard and this, indirectly, made them enemies. It doesn't matter what their roles are but they were standing between him and the wolf, which was enough to spark some act of bitterness.

Both females in the room backed off quickly and scrambled behind Largo, shielding themselves if they were to engage into brutal assault. Meanwhile, the bull guarded them keenly. "Get out! You're not welcome here!"

One of them snorted and cracked their knuckles. "We're not here for you."

Smith growled and snarled aloud. "You want me, right? Huh! Come get it! I've got enough for both of you!" Claws now at the ready.

"Mmm... feisty..." One concurred.

"Like his father, no?" The other laughed.

"Definitely like his father. Brave, strong, vigilant, always standing up for what's right." The first nodded.

"He's like a splitting image of his..." The second trailed off.

"Hush. That's in the past, now is the present."

"Would you please make sense in what you're talking, dammit!" Smith roared.

"Smith! Hold your ground!" Speedy hissed and stood in between him and the two rhinos, turning to glare at them. "Explain yourself or so help me, I will tear your balls off. I can and I will."

Both paused for a moment and stifled a guffaw at those words. This was definitely amusing to them. Speedy was far too agitated for their insolent behaviour and threw a book at them. It may not be the best way to stop two large rhinos but enough to stop them from laughing. "I don't care what you two want but as long as you're in my territory, I will not let you harm my team."

The first smirked. "I'm not about to harm them. No, I'm not. We just want to ask Smith a simple question."

The stripped feline blinked and unsheathed his claws. "Explain."

"We will but first, let me introduce ourselves," his calloused paw reached over to offer a shake. "I'm Black Wendell Laison and this is my twin brother, Blake Wendell Laison."

Speedy was too cautious to accept their greetings. At this time and moment, he couldn't just cave in and agree to their sudden friendship. They worked for Shaun, which was enough of a thought to be careful. Black's paw stayed in mid-air as he waited for a friendly hand shake but it didn't come along.

The rhino slowly pulled and smiled back at him. It didn't come to a surprise to him since all of them were cautious about their arrival. Albeit, it was a rough entrance but they just had to barge in. They didn't know how long they had before Shaun called them off for another assignment but they just had to explain themselves. Largo backed off with the girls and ordered to sit within a distance. He was just as ready and alert as the two tigers were but from the expression of those two thugs, they seemed sincere enough.

Eventually, after a round of short agreement, they settled. Smith weren't exactly sure what they meant by 'splitting image of his father' but it was definitely news to him. He knew a few things about his own father but not for long. All he remembered was coming back from school one day and from then on, never seeing his father ever again. News about his father's death came through his company secretary and truth be told, being a young innocent feline as he was, it was hard to live by his own. Mum died from cancer when he was still a cub and death of his only parents took toil over him. Fortunately enough, his father made a will concerning his passing and gave most of his properties to him, financially aided at a young age. Since then on, Smith followed his father's footsteps, venturing out into the business world.

Now, came to the story of how these two knew his father. It was years since that incident and now, after countless nights of tears, these two bodyguards were about to tell him about his father? He wasn't sure if this was a trick or just pure coincidence.

Black was the first to explain and things didn't turn as he thought it was.

"If I may confirm, Mr. Smith, your name would be Copsen Smith, no?"

The tiger nodded affirmatively. "Yes... it is..."

"I knew he had a son but what are the odds of seeing him here, after all these years." Black continued.

"Yeah..." Blake interjected. "But there's nothing like the present, right?"

"How do you know my father?" Smith snapped.

Blake laughed at him. "Quite the man, isn't he?"

Sighing quietly, he didn't have much patience for this. They were running out of time as it is and couldn't to afford much delays. After much confirmation, Black, the eldest of the twin continued on.

"We worked against your father for three years. So much so that he threatened to destroy us along with it. We weren't involved into business dealings but because we were working for the 'bad guys', ultimately, we deserve it. However, both my brother and I were ruthless against these threats, took no heed against them. By the end of the third year, things went haywire. Your father had influential friends all over and being the professional man of his work ethics, he never left any rock unturned. He uncovered everything; the frauds, scandals, laundering, black market, piracy... everything was taken into account."

Black looked away. "...which turned into a war..." The man stopped completely.

By now, Blake decided to continue with their tale.

"The... war or rather fight was a massacre. Many were injured and death took place underneath the safety of business. The black market, a place where illegal dealings took place, was the scene of the crime. Reports of death toll were at a minimal in the news but we knew the truth. Guns went amuck and bodies scattered around the building; it was horrible. As we cling on to that fact, we are haunted by the image of men crying for help while killing each other. Our boss, the man who hired us, gave direct instructions to protect him but alas... we couldn't."

"I do not see how this is related to my father." Smith said.

"You could say... your father saved us."

His words stopped in mid-air and the tiger took that in. "He what?"

This time, Black nodded in response. "Your father, Jeremy Smith, saved our hides. Before the fight took place, we stumbled upon each other in an alleyway. He actually warned us, warned about the dealings and future events that might have took place. We took no heed to his words but as the days come and go, that man kept reminding and telling us stuff that we shouldn't even know. Oh, you should have seen him, bombarding us with information that could be useful to our boss but we knew better. We are just hired guards, not spies to leak information. That was our job and we kept it to ourselves."

"Eventually, both of us were convinced, at one point or the other, that we should be working for somebody else. We knew that our jobs were to guard the man that paid our salary but we aren't as heartless as we are. True, we may look like thugs but we have our own dignity to hold up."

Largo stepped in with arms akimbo. "What dignity do you hold up for, huh? You knew that you were working for the bad guys and yet, you accepted the job offer?"

The two rhinos looked down and nodded in shame. "Yes... we took them because we were desperate. You have no idea how undignified it was to steal from someone else. We couldn't find work because we were considered street rats by others and being in the small town, words spread fast. Eventually, we had to move away with no money at hand. It was the first job that came into our mind and we accepted, no matter how ridiculous it sounded."

As soon as he stopped, his voice trailed off into a deafening silence. Smith hesitated and shifted in his seat. He has yet to know how these men were related to his father and what they wanted from him. His father saved them but that was just it, that didn't prove anything about how he died. Unless...

"Please... tell me..." he choked. "Did... my father died in the fight?" Smith held on to Speedy's paw and gripped tightly. He knew that this was things of the past but knowing the death of his father was something different altogether.

Black closed both eyes and slowly, nodded in answer.

"Fuck..." Smith cursed and tried to suppress his tears.

Years after years of being alone and in the dark, finally, the truth has been revealed. Nights after nights of being alone and caring for himself, without any help, was trying for a young cub like him. Granted, when news came, he was a teenager about the age of 15 but that didn't make things easier. Instead, it made it harder. Now, no news has become news to him. "Why... Why does it have to end that way..."

"Because he took a bullet for us."

Short, precise and powerful.

"He... took a bullet... for you...?"

Blake winced. "Yes, Mr. Smith. We, Blake and Black Wendell Laison, survived because your dad died for us. We... owe him his life."

His paws gripped harder, tighter, emotions were beginning to rise up as his words came through. Mixed emotions boiled down within the depth of his heart and subdue the thought of clawing the men that were responsible for the death of his only bloodline. He looked away, trying to keep himself from attacking, gripped stiffer against Speedy's calloused paws.

"I'm sorry..." Blake said.

"Get out..." Smith hissed through clenched teeth.

"I..."

"Get out!" His voice louder than before.

"Mr. Smith, I'm very sorry for our actions but please, there's more to this and - "

A large paw slapped upon the rhino's shoulder and he turned. There stood an angry bull with teeth bore for all to see. It seems that Largo had turned hostile and his belligerence wasn't going to go unnoticed. "You heard the man, now get your sorry ass out of his room or I will clobber you two. I'll punch you so hard your ancestors could have felt the pain."

Black growled but stopped when Blake pulled him off. "But!"

"Move it, brother. I think this is enough for one day." Blake got up and dragged his twin brother along. "I'm sorry to intrude. It won't happen again." The door opened up and they left without another word.

Smith was lost; he didn't know what else to do. Word about his father's death was overwhelming and the man died from protecting others. Hell... he protected two men who were supposed to be bodyguards. They should be the one standing in line to take the bullet! Not the other way around! Just because they worked for the opposition doesn't mean that they can't turn back at the final moment.
