School Crush : Chapter 3
#3 of School Crush
I stood there, breath-taken by his simple question. I was completely clueless as to how to respond to his question. 'What should I say?' I thought to myself, as I stood in Jack's presence, rendered speechless by his question.
"Well," I began, still trying to conjure my words before saying them, "I will most likely be going home to an empty house and spending the night alone, I suppose."
Jack looked at me with a very cute, caring glimmer in his eyes. "Well, do you want to go do something? I mean, it is almost 12:00 o'clock, so you can close, right?"
"Well ya, but it is 12:00 o'clock, I really should be getting home..."
Jacks ears lowered; his cute smile turned into a blank expression. His once swaying tail had become lifeless. "Oh..." he started. I could tell I had hurt his feeling a bit. "Well, how are you getting home?"
I thought to myself for a moment, "I guess I'll have to walk. I'm sure my mom is either working or fast asleep."
"Well, can I at least give you a ride home, to thank you for the hot chocolate?"
I smiled at the cute german shepherd, "That sounds really nice." I looked up to the clock hanging adjacent from my counter. It was 11:56 on December 11th, 2011. "Well, do you mind waiting a few minutes while I hurry and close up shop?"
"I can help you if you want, so we can get out of here faster," Jack said, making me smile. He was really friendly to me. I guess he really didn't fall into the usual jock stereotype that all the other football players managed to earn themselves.
I looked at him with a cute little grin on my face, holding back a super happy expression. "Of course you can, though there isn't much to be done... It was dead in here for an hour before you came in, you made the night a lot more pleasant," I said, before looking down in a bit of nervousness, wondering what the hell caused me to say that.
"Well, while you close up shop, I'll be waiting out front in my car. Try to hurry though, I don't have a lot of gas as it is."
"Okay, I'll make it quick, I promise."
The hunky dog resumed smiling at me, before turning around and facing the door, flicking his tail in the process. I watched him as he walked toward the exit; his tail now had that lively sway in it that I had become accustomed to seeing. His ears were again perked up in their usual erect position. 'God... it's as if he was carved by the angels,' I thought to myself as he exited the cafe.
I snapped out of my fantasies, and began to swiftly perform the last minute preparations required for closing down the shop. I took a journey through the "Employees Only" door to the back room, where a small fuse box was mounted on the wall in the corner of the room. I quickly walked over to it, maneuvering through the few storage shelves that held bags of coffee, cake mixes, and spare parts for the cappuccino machine. Once I arrived at the box, I opened it. It made a very spooky creep when I did so, just as it always had. There were two rows fuses in this box, totalling up to 14. I quickly went through them, turning off most, but leaving the lights for the back and main room and the security system on. All the others however, I shut off, just as I had been instructed.
I exited the room and quickly grabbed my things from behind the counter, then resuming to walk toward the door that lead to Jack. I could see his car through the large panes of glass at the front of the shop, and smiled. After throwing on my coat, and putting on my black and white scarf, I strolled to the door of the coffee shop, flicking the last set of lights off as I did so. The only light remaining on now was the ceiling light that was hung over the counter.
As I opened the door, a chill went down my spine. My coat offered little resistance to the icy winds that blew through my exposed fur and cooled my skin. I quickly dug out my keys from my coat pocket, and with little effort, locked the door to the coffee shop, before quickly turning around to see if Jack was still there. Of course, he was. In front of me was a very sleek, dark blue 1969 Camaro SS. My jaw dropped at how spectacular this car looked. The lights from the lamp posts that lined the streets made the car shine, even though the lighting was poor. It had two medium sized white stripes that went up the hood of the car all the way to the tail. The car, however, wasn't on, so I could not hear the engine purr, as it stood idle, ready to tear up some pavement.
I approached the passenger side of the car, and opened the door. Jack was sitting in the drivers seat. He then turned his head and looked at me, his facing sporting a cute smile as he did so. I slowly slid into the passenger seat of the car. It was still cold in the car, but I was in a nice car, with a nice guy. 'How much more perfect can this night get?' I thought to myself.
"How do you like the ride?" Jack asked. I'm sure that he could tell I was in love with it. "Ya, bought it from my uncle, and fixed it up myself. Runs like a dream now."
Thoughts of Jack working on a car began to litter my mind. His super sexy shirtless body bent over, checking out under the hood of the car. His tail wagging excitedly as he installed a new pair of spark plugs or something like that. I didn't really care, my imagination just made him look damn good. I'm sure he would look even better in person. After a few seconds of naughty thinking ran through my mind, I snapped out of it, and looked back to Jack.
"This car is amazing!" I said very enthusiastically.
He covered his mouth with his paw, as he chuckled to himself a little. "Haha, yeah, I get that a lot," he said. "Well... shall we?"
I nodded my head. "I live on the corner of Vinewood, and 6th." I explained to him.
"Ahh, yes, I know exactly where that is," he said.
I watched him as his paw reached past the steering wheel, and took a hold of the key already in his ignition. I watched as he gave the key a slight twist, and fed the car a bit of gas with his foot. The car turned over once or twice before firing up. The roar of the engine broke the silence in the seemingly dead town, rumbling as we sat in front of my work. Jack put the car into reverse and slowly backed out of the diagonal parking spots that lined both sides of the main road, making sure there was no traffic, although there was rarely any traffic at 12:00.
My house was only a mile and a half from my work, and really wouldn't have been that bad of a walk home. I've made the walk through the cold several times this year, though I must say I did prefer to drive with a very cute hunk; this is much more preferable to walking alone. 'I hope mom isn't home... I really don't feel like being around anyone else but Jack right now,' I thought to myself as the car came to a stop.
Jack put the car into first gear, and accelerated the car, and quickly went into second gear. The car made a very manly noise as it drove down the street, although we were only going 28 MPH; the speed limit was only 25 MPH. For a moment or two, I watched Jack as he drove his prized car. Even though he had it for a while, you could still tell that he got a rush just from starting the beast.
The ride home from the shop was quiet for the most part. It was, after all, a quick drive. We made intermittent small talk, but nothing of significance. I really did enjoy his company. It felt so nice to just talk to someone, as apposed to most days, where I sat alone in my room, listening to music, or writing a small poem. His voice was surprisingly calm when he talked to me, not very loud, boisterous, or anything that one might expect from such a burly guy. I could hear the compassion in his voice as he soothed me with his words.
After 6-7 minutes, Jack and I arrived at my house. All of the lights in my house were off, and my mothers car was no where to be found. 'Ahh, a peaceful night to myself,' I thought as I looked outside. Snow was falling lightly as I peered out of the window of Jacks car. I really didn't want to leave, but I wasn't sure if us hanging out was such a good idea. After all... we had just met that day, and I didn't want to rush things. I could only be around my crush for so long without completely coming out with my feelings for him. God, it was hard to do, but to the best of my ability I kept on the same "straight guy" mask that I had put on every day for so very long.
"Well... here we are," Jack said, with a somewhat saddened sigh. "Are you sure you don't want to do anything?"
'Oh my God... he really wants to hang out with me,' I thought to myself. 'Maybe I should let him come in, and we can watch a movie.' I really wanted that to happen at the time... but I just needed to be alone, time to think about all of this. Time to think about what to do with this "friendship" and if I should tell him about me.
"I'm sorry Jack, but it is really late, and I need some sleep," I began to explain, "but... maybe we can hang out tomorrow?"
Jack's soft smile was no longer present; his ears had returned to that saddening flop, and his tail was no longer thumping to the beat of the soft rock that was playing in his car. "I'm busy tomorrow..."
"Oh... Well... What about next Friday?"
The black dog looked over to me, sighing as he began to talk, "Yeah... that would be cool. Maybe catch a movie or somethin'?"
I look into Jack's eyes. His dark-brown eyes seemed to be a portal into his soul as I looked deeply into his eyes for a moment. His eyes glistened as pale light of the moon reflected off of his beautiful brown eyes. 'He's absolutely perfect' I thought to myself. I gave Jack a reassuring smile; "Don't worry--I'll make sure I don't have to work, so that we can have a good Friday night."
His saddened frown slowly crept into a half smile, and his ears twitched a bit. "Thanks Sky... Well, I need your number so I can text you. You know... if I need help with... uhh... homework... or somethin'."
I smiled, and told him my number before opening the door of his car. I peered one last time into his deep eyes, before modifying my eyes' trajectory such that they went all the way down to his legs, and back up. He looked so adorable, I really wish I had the damn nerve to ask him out... "I had a lot of fun tonight Jack, you really made my night. Good night... drive safe, okay?"
He looked up at me, as I stood outside of the car, talking through the rolled down window of his car. "I'll drive safe don't worry. I had a great night as well... Good night Skylar..." he said in a husked tone.
I turned away from the car, now facing my house, beginning to walk toward the dark house. My tail swayed happily side to side as I carried a large smile on my face. My paws had dug into my pockets, one trying to get my keys out, and the other trying to stay warm as I quickly walk to my front door, stepping up the steps of my porch as I did so. I hurried up and got the right key out, and then jamming it into the door, twisting it, unlocking the door. I turn back one last time to see Jack still in front of my house. I gave him one last wave, saying goodbye, and then entered my home. I could hear his car roar, as it sped off down the street, before slowly turning into silence.
My house was dark, quiet, and empty. I was the only life in this darkened abyss that I so happily called a home. I reached my paw to the wall, and flipped on the light switch, before closing the front door and hanging my coat up on the silver coat rack in the corner of the foyer. After turning on the lights and looking around, I noticed that the furniture in our living room was rearranged, and there was something new--a Christmas tree, which itself very present in the corner of our somewhat small living room. It was not lit up, and had no ornaments on it, but it was a good sign that Christmas was near. My tail began to wag a little as I approached the rather tall tree.
I stood there for a minute or two, admiring the tree. It was the same tree we have had for years, but it was nice to see the old friend again. I looked over to the couch and noticed a few large boxes adorned with large, black labels saying "ORNAMENTS". In them, I knew there were elegant gold and silver balls, with fabulous designs covering them. These would be hung after my mother and I strung our tree with a thousand or so white lights. White had always been my favorite color [a]for a Christmas tree, though the trees that had every color on the spectrum were nice to see.
I let out a loud yawn, and covered my muzzle with my paw before finishing said yawn and closing my mouth. I slowly began the journey to my room, where I was bound to pass out. I was extraordinarily tired this night, though the reason eluded me. As I walked down the hallway to my room, I got a chill; it was rather cool in my house tonight. Once I arrived in my room, I slowly began to strip down to my black boxers. The cloths just seem to flow off me, as if they wanted to come off. My white fur nicely contrasted the black boxers, a prospect that made me smile. I scratched a random itch that made itself present on my arm.
I slowly walked to my bed and made an epic leap into it. I landed in my neatly made bed, ruffling the blankets, making them look a bit messy. I slowly crawled under the blankets, completely concealing myself with the thick black comforter. I curled up into a ball, feeling the chill begin to fade as my fur mixed with itself and my blanket, warming both. I slowly began to close my eyes, as I could feel myself get warm and relaxed. I let out a deep sigh, as I drifted into a land of wondrous dreams and deep emotion.
*****************************
A week has now passed since the night that Jack and I had our friendly encounter. Jack and I have seen each other every day at school, and I have tutored him on a daily basis. During the week, Jack pitched a few ideas for movies that we would go see, and we decided that we would go see "Immortals"--an action packed Greek mythology movie. It is now 5 P.M. on Friday night, and I have just began to get ready for our "date" together.
*****************************
As I exited the shower, I watched the steam roll by me, making for an epic entrance into the bathroom. I stepped out of the shower, and stood at the sink, looking into the mirror. My white fur was still full of water, and I watched as the small beads trickled down. I grabbed my phone to see if I had any missed alerts. I had one... from Jack!
"Hi Skylar! Hope you didn't forget about us hanging out today. I called the movies and Immortals starts at 7:30, so I'll be at your place around 7. C'ya then!"
I smiled to myself. 'How could I forget about a "date" with the hottest fur in the damn school?' I chuckled a bit before responding to the text.
"Oh my god! I totally FORGOT! hehe, jk jk. See you at 7 :)"
I exited the texting screen, and entered my music library on my phone. I scrolled through the hundreds of songs in my archives until I found a good song that I wanted to hear. I turned on "This Could be Anywhere in the World - Alexisonfire" and I started to dry myself off as I listened to the cool drum intro. My fur seemed a bit more fluffy than usual, so I took a brush of mine out of the drawer under the sink and began to run the widely spaced bristles through my fur, causing my fur to flatten after a few minutes of grooming.
After my fur was smooth and flat, I took my small stick of "Old Spice" deodorant and began to apply it to my under arms. Once done with that, I walked from the bathroom to my room, naked. The house was empty as usual, though mom wasn't at work, she was out with her friends for the night. I thought it was nice that she got to get out of the house and actually enjoy herself for once.
My room was probably the coldest room in my house, and I liked it that way. It was nice to have a cool retreat to go to when I was stressed, though I wasn't today, It was just cold, and It made my teeth chatter a bit. Once in my room, I began to put on the clothes I had picked out prior to my shower. I decided that I would wear a pair of blue jeans, a black and sky blue stripped Aeropostale shirt, and a matching pair of black and sky blue Nikes, from Journeys. I put on my entire outfit, including socks of course, and stood in front of the tall mirror that was off in the corner of my room. I looked at myself and decided that I looked good enough--cute, but not gay.
I made a reappearance in the bathroom one last time, to fix my hair and brush my teeth. I reached up into the Cabinet directly next to my sink, and fished out a small jar of "Fur Texturizer," needing to stand on my tippy toes in order to reach it. Once down, I got a rather small glob of it onto one of my fingers, and began to spread it evenly in my paws. I then applied it to my head fur, making sure that it was coated evenly and not in thick patches. Once all of my hair was covered with the thin layer of texturizer, I ran my paws through my hair, spiking it straight up, before coming from the back with my other paw, flattening it a bit, but still leaving it nice and spiky.
Once my hair was styled to my liking and my paws were washed clean of the sticky hair gel, I pulled open the medicine cabinet, which housed a lot of different medicines and vitamins, and my tooth brush. I retrieved my toothbrush, took the toothpaste in my other paw, put an average amount on it, and began to brush my teeth. I made sure that my tongue was clean, as well as the roof of my maw, scrubbing my teeth vigorously, although they were already sparkling white.
After all of my grooming was completed, I looked down to my phone to see what time it was. It was 6:30. 'Dammit! Why can't it be 7 already!' I thought to myself. 'I really want to see that super cute dog pull up in his manly car, and sweep my off my feet.' I knew the whole sweep off my feet thing wouldn't happen, but a guy can dream can't he?
I left the bathroom, and entered the living room. Our living room looked so festive as I entered. The tree was now decorated with a thousand or so white lights, with pristine gold and silver balls hanging from the branches. Some of the less metallic balls had elegant swirl designs on them in accenting colors. They tree illuminated the room. It was the only source of light in my living room, but I could see everything perfectly.
The tree was settled in the corner of the room, in between a chair that was against one wall and our graceful brick fireplace that was on the other wall. The room was cozy, and the couch faced the TV, just as in any normal house. There was a small black coffee table in front of the white leather couch. Two chairs were also found in the living room, both were a dark, rich blue that pulled some color into the bland room. I loved my living room.
I walked over to the blue chair positioned next to the Christmas tree, and plopped down into it, the large windows in the living room to my back as I looked around the room. The white light from the tree radiated around the room, projecting a faint glow on the walls. The fireplace next to the tree was empty and clean. It hadn't been used in years, even though it functioned properly. It was far enough from the tree to prevent a fire hazard, yet close enough to allow close proximity to both the tree and fireplace.
It seemed as if time had stopped. I looked down to my phone, hoping that it was 7 o'clock, but it was only 6:45.... This waiting was torture for me. I stood up from my chair, and bent my back, in an attempt to crack it, giving me something to do while I desperately wait for my knight in shinning armor arrive. I was successful in cracking my back, letting out a loud sigh as I stood back up straight. 'Maybe I should eat something before Jack gets here, so he doesn't think I'm hungry all the time, even though I kind of am.'
I slowly walked to my kitchen, trying to use up as much time as possible. I really didn't know what to do. I opened my fridge, and looked through the shelves of newly stocked food. I spotted a nice, ripe apple that had my name written all over it. I quickly grabbed the apple and walked it over to the sink, washing it off with water, just to make sure it was nice and clean.
Once the beautiful red apple was nice and shinny, I gazed at it with a fiery look in my eye. I took a large bite into the apple, my fangs piercing the crisp skin of delicious apple. Now, with a large chunk of apple in my maw, I began to chew thoroughly. The juices of the apple covering my taste buds, and the chunks of apple gradually shrinking before becoming small enough to actually swallow. As I finish the first bite of the delicious apple, I heard a very distinct noise.
I began to hear the faint roar of Jacks car come down my street, getting louder by the second. I smiled to myself, quickly threw away the perfectly good apple, and hurried through the washing of my paws. The rumble of Jacks distinct car became louder and louder as I sped up washing my paws free of the apple's juices.
Once my task was complete, I ran to the front door, grabbing my keys off of the counter in the process. I quickly slid on my coat and put on my pair of matching black gloves. Then, I wrapped my black and white scarf ever so perfectly around my neck and slid my keys into my coat pocket. As I was doing so, I checked to make sure I had my phone--which was already hidden away in my pant pocket--and my wallet--which was in the other pocket of my coat.
I heard the sound of a car horn, and looked through the decorated glass in the center of my wooden front door, seeing the sleek muscle car waiting for me--the engine rumbling as exhaust fumes blew out of the back. I put on a bright smile as I walked outside, locking the door behind me before closing it. Thus began my "date" with my school crush.
