Wolf Heat: WELCOME HOME
#6 of Wolf Heat
Ok I'll keep it short. Chapter six follows directly on chapter five, if you haven't read it then go back and do so because otherwise you won't understand (you should have read all the earlier chapters to truly understand). And again the ***marks means that there will be a scene change to another character point of view...Enjoy the story.
WELCOME HOME
Ventus had left the valley, walked through the plain and into the forest surrounding it all. By nightfall he put down his heavy burden, the wolf female that he had rescued earlier. She was still unconscious and Ventus took the opportunity to look at her closely. She had black fur covering her back down to her shoulders, and light brown fur covered the rest, her tail was also light brown and as Ventus watched it started to move. She must be waking up.
***
The wolf female felt drowsy, like after a long sleep. Her entire body ached and she squirmed in pain. As she slowly opened her eyes she saw a wolf lying in front of her, his head resting against on his paws. At first she was confused, she couldn't figure out why things weren't as usual, her mind was fogged. Then she remembered the bear that had raped her, at first her heart started beating faster as panic was forming.
'Relax, you're save now.' The wolf said calmly.
And as she manages to get her head up so she could look around she could see that the bear was nowhere to be found. But that it self didn't mean the wolf was friendly.
'How did I get here? Who are you?' She said, not trying to hide the fact that she suspected him.
'Well I carried you here. I'm Ventus.' The wolf said.
She asked him what had happened to the bear.
'He's dead. And you who are you?' Ventus asked.
She still didn't know if she could trust him, but she was impressed that he had been able to kill a bear. She started looking at him more closely. He had grey fur covering his back reaching almost down to the belly. His belly fur was white, but muddy as after a long journey. He was not very big, but still muscular in the athletic way. He seemed very confident lying there, and apparently according to himself, he had saved her.
'I'm Tenacis...Thank you for rescuing me but I have to go back.' She told Ventus as she tried to get up, but a sharp pain in her legs made her fall back.
'You should rest; you might have sprained your legs. Why would you want to go back to that place again? I was stuck there for over a day and it's a hellhole.' Ventus asked giving her a questioning look. She started at him eyes wide open. Did he just say he survived a day there?!
***
Ventus looked questioning on the wolf female that had introduced herself as Tenacis; she in her turn was staring at him in disbelieve. He decided to remain quiet until he got his answer.
After a moment she snapped out of it and got a serious look on her face.
'Listen you were inside the forest in the valley for over a day, right? You must have felt your sixth sense improving. Well in my pack the alpha leaders must go through a test consisting on that you risk your life in that forest for a day to gain full access to the sixth sense. I was selected by the current alpha pair as a possible future alpha female. 'She explained.
Ventus couldn't see why anyone willingly would spend a day in that honey dripping hell. But at lest it explained why she was there.
'I see. But it doesn't feel like I have full control over the sixth sense...' He said.
Tenacis just snorted.
'The test only grants access. Control takes training and experience.' She said as if explaining it to a stupid, annoying pup.
Ventus did feel a bit stupid, so he decided to subtly change the subject.
'Well you're not doing any tests in your shape. Tell me where your pack is and I give you a ride.' He said. And as she started protesting he wedges his snout in under her body and threw her up on his back.
Tenacis blushed as she felt his warm body underneath her; she could feel his motion, and his muscles moving underneath his skin and his soft fur. She still did not understand why he was doing this, rescuer or not, there was a good chance that her pack would rip him apart for intruding. She told him that and saw him glance back at her.
'Well when I have already gone through the trouble of rescued you it would be a shame to leave you to die.' He answered as if it was nothing more to it.
Tenacis came to the conclusion that he was probably an idiot, but still kind of cute.
'What were you doing there anyway?' She asked him.
'Nothing. I just past by while traveling and got curious that's all. How dangerous is that place anyway?' Ventus asked. He knew from own experience that it was deadly, but wanted to see what more she could tell him.
'Y-you were curious?! Uhhh, a bear came there to take suicide! We think it was created in some sort of on earthquake, the valley has cliffs sticking out of the ground and deep holes that has become pools of honey, tripping into those and you'll drown. And you know dam well about the bees and the honey! It's a death trap!' Tenacis yelled as if shocked by an impractically stupid question.
'Hehe, relax. I'm just making small talk. I guess you're as stupid as the bear.' Ventus said.
Tenacis frowned.
'What do you mean?' She asked.
'You both searched up that death trap.' Ventus teased her. He smirked as he looked back to see her stunned face before she remembered to try and retaliate.
Ventus was hungry, but he couldn't leave her alone long enough to find a prey. He knew that so he kept walking, ignoring the pleads from his stomach.
After covering about one mile Ventus stopped to rest.
'Is your territory far from here?' He asked as he lowered her to the ground.
'We should be about half way there.' She answered looking up at him from the ground.
'Good. We'll sleep here' Ventus decided and lay down to sleep.
However the young wolf found that he couldn't sleep. Tenacis noticed that and asked him if he was having seconded thoughts about rescuing her.
'No, I was just thinking... What if your pack won't bother to take care of you until you've healed? What if you won't be able to hunt again? Will they kill you?' Ventus asked. It was however not the entire truth; a lot of thought was going through his mind. Why did he do this? Why was so much happening in his life right now? Why did he think of things that before never crossed his mind?
He remembered losing all thought and almost his sanity when he was in the valley, he remembered feeling very lonely, like if he was cut of from the world. But then something made him feel less lonely, feeling that something connected him to the world. But he couldn't remember what. The memories from the time he spent trapped in the valley were either blurred or had faded away, like the memories from a hellish nightmare.
'Don't worry about that. Think more on your own safety. My pack would never hurt a sister or brother, but the same can't be said for outsiders.' She told him, not doubting her own answer for a second.
After some time they both finally manage to go to sleep. But it wasn't a long rest. When the first rays of sun hit the ground the duo resumed their journey.
They traveled until they were met by numerous cliffs, some small some reaching several meters in the air, looking out over the forest. The ground was also cracked at some places, but it was old cracks, that had vegetation growing out of them.
Ventus was just about to ask Tenacis if they had reached her territory, when he felt a hostile energy moving towards him. Ventus managed to dodge the attacker that was a young male wolf.
Baring his teeth Ventus noticed that he was surrounded. From behind the cliffs and out of the bushes wolves appeared.
'Who are you and what have you done to Tenacis?!' The young wolf that had launched at them snarled. He was grey and light brown speckled and slightly smaller then Ventus.
All the wolves snarled threatening at Ventus, until Tenacis looked up from his back.
'Ohh, give it a break Silex, I got hurt and he helped me home that's all!' She yelled at the small wolf.
'I also saved your life, but that's not so important, right?' Ventus said his voice full of sarcasm as he lowered her to the ground, getting her off his back.
At the very moment when Tenacis slipped of Ventus back and he concentrated on the wolf named Silex in front of him, giving him a stare saying that he won't tolerate another attack, another wolf tackled him from behind. Ventus hit the ground and the wolves were over him in the blink of an eye.
Silex turned to the wolf that tackled Ventus; it was another small male wolf looking a bit like himself but all grey.
'Thanks Calculi.' He said smirking at the wolf named Calculi that smirked right back.
Ventus was on his back and felt fangs digging into his legs, his sides and one wolf bite on to his throat, effectively they kept him pinned to the ground.
Ventus knew when he was beaten; there was nothing he could do to get out of this one. He was at their mercy. Whimpering, his tail stuffed between his legs and his ears pinned down. Ventus knew being submissive might be his only chance of survival, and it still was a very small chance.
Ventus tried to look over at Tenacis, but he couldn't see her behind the wolves pinning him down. He had known rescuing her had more trouble to come.
To be continuing...
Ok this chapter may or may not explain some odd things from the last one. I just had that scene when they were talking in my mind and couldn't get it out, so I had to set up for that scene. That's why the bear (see last chapter) came to the valley to commit suicide and not just for the honey, that and the fact that I needed a rezone for the bear to rape her, and thus leading to the meeting of Ventus and Tenacis.
Aren't you excided, what will happen to poor Ventus, what a cliffhanger. There will be a short chapter named Welcome home pt.2, it's NOT just a way for me to make easy planning short chapter to give me some easy work during stressing times.
Then I'll see if I can see what happens to Luna and the rest of Terras pack...I just don't have anything particular for them yet... Anyhow rate this and please leave a comment about what you think or what you would like to see in the future (seriously I'm open for ideas, my story is in progress and easily adaptable, so I want to know what you like). Finally, please forgive my recent clumsy writing and laziness.
