When Len woke up, he had no idea where he was. After looking around, he realizes he's in the hospital. Then, he remembered what happened the day before. He gasps, "Meiest!" He sits up in a flash but quickly groans in pain and grabs his side in pain as he realizes his mistake. "I guess that fall must have hurt my sides." At that moment, the doctor walked in. "Well Len, it looks like you're okay. You managed to escape without much harm. A few bruises here and there but you should be able to go home today." "Hey, you know the guy who fell with me?" asked Len, getting worried. "You mean Meiest Lencher?" "Yea!" "He's fine, but we're going to keep him overnight just to be sure. Oh, and your clothes are right over there." said the doctor, pointing to a chair in the corner of the room. "You're free to leave whenever you want." "Thanks." replied Len as the doctor turned to leave the room. "Wait, what room is Meiest in?" "Two doors down the hall, to your left. Don't stay too long, he's still sleeping." "Thanks again." "You're welcome." said the doctor as he left the room.

Len quickly leapt out of the hospital bed, groaning in pain once again as he did so. He hastily walked down the hall to Meiest's room and sat down next to his bed. Just as the doctor had said, Meiest was sleeping peacefully. "He looks even cuter when he's sleeping." thought Len to himself. Len sat in silence, staring at the rhythmic rise and fall of Meiest's chest as he slept. But suddenly, Meiest's arms and legs started to twitch and he began to toss and turn. Len knew Meiest must be having a bad dream. Before he knew what he was doing, Len bent down and kissed Meiest right on the lips. Meiest's body immediately ceased moving, and for a brief moment, Len could've sworn he saw Meiest's eyes flick open slightly. Len quickly dismissed the thought and solemnly walked back to his room to gather his clothes, not noticing as Meiest sat up and touched his hand to his lips in disbelief.

Len had gathered his clothes and backpack from his room and used his cell phone, which, thankfully, survived the fall, to call his parents to tell them to pick him up from the hospital. His parents had arrived a few short minutes later. They were glad to know he was alright, since he hadn't been there when they got home the day before. They immediately panicked and called the police, who told them he had been in the hospital. Len's father, Roger Zanester, immediately drove Len's mother, Marcy Zanester, to the hospital with him as soon as they got the call from Len.

Mr. Zanester looked a lot like his son; he had silver hair that matched his fur, which was matted from him nervously twisting it. He had piercing blue eyes, but unlike Len's, his had a serious and business-like look to them. Mrs. Zanester on the other hand, had eyes that shimmered like the sunrise; she also had long silver hair. Her fur was also becoming matted from crying when she found out Len was in the hospital.

Len was in the waiting room having a pleasant conversation with one of the receptionists when his parents arrived. His mother cam bursting through the front doors, which barely managed to open themselves in time for her to get through, and she picked her son up and hugged him so tightly he thought he was going to die. "Oh my god Len, are you ok!?" "I'm fine mom, but could you not hug me so tightly? My sides still hurt from the fall." "Sorry, I'm just so happy you're ok!" "Well I might not be for much longer if you keep hugging me so tightly!" Len took in a large breath as his mother released him. "Come on honey, let's go home." Len's mom beckoned to him from the front doors of the hospital. Len stared off in the general direction of Meiest's room, longing to be with him again. He snapped out of his daze and reluctantly followed his mother to the car where his dad was waiting. Len and his family began driving back to their house. Len's parents were quietly talking, but Len took no notice of them, he was too busy thinking about Meiest. When they got home, Len told his parents he was still kind of tired and was going to go to bed. "Is he ok? He's never willingly gone to bed early before." said his mother as he left the room. Len lie in his bed for hours thinking of Meiest, until he finally fell asleep. When he woke up, he decided to visit Meiest in the hospital. His parents were still sleeping and he didn't want to wake them up so he snuck out the front door and started walking to the hospital.

While he was asleep in the hospital, Meiest had begun to have nightmares. He kept dreaming he was at school talking to Len and in the middle of the conversation Len would scream that he hated him and run away. He had no idea why Len was mad at him or what he could've possibly done to make him mad. He tried to run after Len to apologize to him, but the faster he ran and the louder he shouted the farther away Len got. Meiest kept having that same dream over and over again, but in the last dream he had, he was crying. Meiest didn't know why he was crying, he just, was. Then, Len came up to him, and asked him what was wrong. Meiest just raised his head to look at him and said, "I don't know," between sobs. Len walked closer to Meiest, and kissed him. Suddenly, the dream went away, and Meiest woke up, someone's lips pressed to his own. He eased one eye open so that he could just barely see under his eyelashes. He was shocked when he saw who it was. It was Len! Len had just kissed him! Len started to walk out of the room and Meiest wanted to stop him, but he couldn't. He tried to call after him, but the sharp pain in his side and his shock stopped him. After Meiest realized Len was gone and he wasn't coming back, he fell asleep thinking of Len. When he woke up the next day, he was able to move around without the pain in his side hindering him. A few moments after he woke up, he decided to grab his clothes and get dressed.

Len got to the hospital a few minutes after he had snuck out. Len made his way to Meiest's room and began to walk in the door. Len tried to suppress a giggle as he saw Meiest bending over to get his clothes that had fallen on the floor. Meiest immediately turned around and saw Len standing at the door with his hand over his mouth and he was doubled over, quietly laughing. Meiest, still in his hospital gown, immediately turned red with embarrassment. "Uhh, h-how long have you been standing there?" Len giggles. "Long enough," he said with a wink. Meiest blushes even more. "Aww, you look so cute when you're embarrassed," teased Len, causing Meiest's face to turn even redder. "Uh, Len?" "Yes?" "Did you, umm... kiss me yesterday?" Len immediately stopped giggling. "What?! How did you find out?!" "I felt it when you kissed me and I saw you as you were leaving the room." "But you were asleep!" "The key word being 'were'; I woke up when you kissed me but was too shocked to do anything. And when I tried to get your attention when I saw you walk away and realized it was you, I couldn't speak." "Oh..." The two were silent for a moment. "Why did you kiss me Len?" "Well I... it looked like you were having a nightmare so... I guess I did it to calm you down." "Do you... love me Len?" "I... think I do..." "I think I love you too Len." "You do?" "Yea, I really do." Len sat down on the bed while Meiest finished getting dressed. "You know what Meiest, I'm not sure we can call that 'our' first kiss since you were only conscious at the very end." Len let out a giggle. "I guess you're right," replied Meiest with a small smile crossing his face. As Meiest leaned over to kiss Len, the doctor walked in. The two turned away from each other, blushing with embarrassment. "Uh, Meiest, I just came to tell you you're free to go home." "Oh, uh, thanks." The doctor walked out of the room, looking a little uncomfortable.

"Well, I guess I should head home now Len." "Yea, I guess so." "Oh, wait! I forgot my key at home before I left for school and none of my family will be home today!" "Oh, well, I guess you can stay at my house for tonight." "Really?" "Sure. I'm sure my parents will understand when they get home. They've probably already left for work by now." "Thanks Len!" "Come on, I'll walk you over there." The two walk out of the hospital and head towards Len's house. As they reach the house, Meiest realizes something. "Wait, your house is right across the street from mine!" "Oh, really? What a coincidence." They went into Len's house and put Meiest's stuff in Len's room. "So, what do you want to do?" "Hmm, let's play the Wii first." "Ha-ha, alright." Len handed Meiest a controller with a mischievous grin on his face. Meiest wasn't sure why Len was smiling, but he didn't like it. 10 minutes later, he found out why. "Geez, you totally kicked my butt. "Len just giggled and gave him an innocent smile.

Meiest and Len were having so much fun playing the Wii that they had lost track of time and didn't even notice as Len's parents walked through the door. "Len, who's this," asked his father. "Oh, hi guys. This is Meiest; he's my friend from school." He said "friend" awkwardly, still not used to saying the word often. "His family isn't gonna be home today and he forgot his key to his house. Is it okay if he stays here for tonight?" "Well, I guess its okay." "Thanks mom!" "Well, we're gonna go to bed, we had a busy day at work. We expect you to be in bed by eleven." "Okay mom," replied Len, clearly annoyed. "Oh, and make sure Meiest has somewhere to sleep too." With that, his parents shut the door. "They can be so annoying sometimes, but at least they let you stay." "Yea, what parents aren't annoying sometimes though?" Len giggles. "Beats me. Anyways, let's find you a place to sleep tonight." Meiest follows Len to his room and watches as he searches through his closet. "Aha, here's the air mattress. Aww man, there's a hole in it! Well that idea's out. The only other thing I can think of is the couch, and I'm not about to make you sleep there." "Oh it's fine, I don't mind sleeping on the couch." "No, you're not sleeping on the couch, you can sleep in my bed, and I'll sleep on the couch." "No, you should sleep in your bed. "Ok, I have an idea, the bed's big enough, we can both sleep in it, and then no one has to sleep on the couch." "Doesn't that seem a little awkward? I mean, we've only known each other for two day." "It's been a productive two days," replied Len with a smile. "Besides, it's not like we're gonna do anything, I just don't want you to sleep on the couch." "Well, ok, if you say so." "Now, why don't we go back to me kicking your butt on the Wii," Len said with a giggle. "Hey, I beat you too!" "Ha-ha, yea, like once." "Oh come on, let's just play." Meiest and Len spend the rest of the time playing on the Wii until Len's mom yells at them to go to bed. The two reluctantly went to Len's room and got into his bed. "Night Meiest," said Len, leaning into Meiest's chest. "Night Len," said Meiest as he wrapped his arms around Len. They both soon fell asleep, comforted by each other's presence.

Len awoke from his nightmare in shock. Then he realized Meiest was still cuddling him and he relaxed. Meiest awoke a few minutes later. "Morning Hun," said Meiest as he stretched. Len giggled. "Since when do you call me 'Hun'?" "I don't know, it just seemed appropriate at the time." "You know, I never did get that first kiss," said Len with a wink. Meiest laughed. "Let's fix that shall we?" Just as Meiest was about to kiss Len, Len's dad opens the door. "Come on guys, time to get u-" He froze. Meiest and Len looked away, blushing. Len's father closed the door and walked away. "Len, get your stuff." "What f-" "Just do it. Trust me, this won't end well." Len and Meiest gathered their stuff and started to head for the front door, but Len's dad caught them before they could reach it. He just stood there and stared at Len for a few seconds. "Get out." "But dad-" "I said get out! I'm not about to have some faggot living in my house!" Len was crying into Meiest's chest as he hugged him. "How could you be so cruel to your own son?! Come on Len, let's get out of here." Meiest immediately led Len, still crying heavily, out of the front door and across the street to his house. Luckily his sister was home and she has left the door unlocked. "Allisa, I'm home." "Well if it isn't the boy who can never remember his key." "Oh shut up." "And who is this?" "Oh, this is Len; he's my friend from school. His dad just kicked him out of his house. Think he could stay here?" "I have no problem with it. So why did he get kicked out?" "For being gay." "That's horrible! He didn't hurt you did he?!" "No, he's fine, he's just having a hard time coping right now." "I see, well maybe you should take him to your room and try to calm him down some." "Ok." Meiest led Len to his room and sat next to him on his bed. "It's okay Len, you're always welcome at my house." "T-thanks Meiest," he said, continuing to cry. Len laid his head on Meiest's lap and Meiest continued to comfort him, rubbing his head and back until he fell asleep. Meiest put Len's head on the bed and went back to Allisa. "Ok, he's asleep." "Good, now how are we gonna explain this to mom?" "We could say he stopped believing in their religion." "It'll have to do for now." "I guess we'll see how she reacts when she gets home." Meiest went back to his room and cuddled Len once again as he fell asleep
