The Wolf and Demon
The great wolf cuts his cry,
turning to look the demon in the eye,
"I know not what you want,
why you try me so.
All that I want is to forget it all.
The pain, the love, your lovely call,
but demon, you will not let me be."
He turned to resume his lonely stand,
the pain plain for all to see,
but only the demon present.
"Why won't you just let me be...?
Why can't I just forget?
Demon as you may be,
You were my life, my love,
the one who ever cared..."
The wolf turned back,
his greatness gone,
lost in his pain.
"I can't go on,
I can't go back,
I can only wallow
in my grief.
Why can't you let me be..."
He looked down,
a single drop falling,
"A promise is a promise,
and that goes both ways,
I told you I was not,
and I will not go,
The pain is hard,
but even more without you.
Though I wish you would leave me be..."
I will never leave the one I love.
