Silnis

*****

It felt good to clear things up with Luke, now that we were friends. I wasn't expecting things to go all that smoothly with Luke, but I guess things just worked out for us. I can at least stop trying to avoid him and act like my normal self at school now. It was about time I threw away the act anyways, it never was the type of character I liked playing.

Markus drove us back to his home after our walk and I was so nervous of meeting his parents, a bit of excitement mixed in too. What would they be like? Would they think I was good enough for Markus? What if they didn't approve of me? All these questions were running through my head when I felt Markus' arm around me, pulling me in closer to him as he drove with his free hand.

"Hey, are you nervous?" he asked me, giving him a nod.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to meet your parents, but what if they don't like me? What if they think that I'm not right for you?" I questioned, uttering a small whimper.

"Don't be nervous darling, besides, if I know my parents I'll say they will love you!" Markus reassured, kissing me on my head. I felt a little better after what Markus said, some confidence coming back to me. If Markus thinks that they'll like me than I'll take his word for it.

We pulled up to a good-sized brown house with the most incredible lawn I've ever seen. The grass was neatly trimmed and was the perfect shade of green, the kind of grass I wished my house had. There wasn't a single weed in their lawn as I gawked at how amazing it looked.

"Your neighbors must be jealous of your lawn! I mean look at it, it's...perfect!" I acknowledged, bending down to get a better look at it.

"Yeah, some of them are, though they don't like to admit it, but aren't you here to meet my parents and not my yard?" Markus questioned, chuckling as I moved my hands gently over the top of the blades of grass.

"Sorry, it's just that I can't my yard to look anything like this," I gestured to the green grass, imagining our lawn being like that.

"I'll come over to your house whenever I'm free and help you with your yard, but come on, let's go inside and see if my parents are up yet," Markus said, leading me up to the front door and opening it with his keys.

"Mom, Dad, I brought someone home!" he shouted, shutting the door behind him.

"Who is it?" I heard his mom shout back down.

"My boyfriend, Silnis!" he shouted back, hearing a scream before she came running downstairs wearing a bath robe. She saw me and ran towards me, tackling me in a death hug.

"Oh, it's so good to meet you! I'm Maria, Markus' mother, but you can just call me Mrs. Jenson if you want. Oh my god you look so cute, wearing matching clothes. You know Markus can never wear anything nice, he just throws on anything he finds and-,"

"Mom, I think you need to calm down a little bit," Markus suggested.

"Sorry, it's just that Markus never brings home any of his friends so I never get to meet any of them, but you're his boyfriend, that's even better!" she apologized, giggling like my mom. I can see now how they were such great friends in middle school, even now.

"So you're just going to introduce your boyfriend to your mother and not me?" Markus' dad accused, standing at the top of the stairs wearing a white tank top and black boxers.

"Oh, Silnis, this is my dad, William. You can just call him Mr. Jenson if you want," Markus introduced, his father coming down and reaching out a hand to me.

"Pleased to meet you all, I'm Silnis Hearthglen, Markus' boyfriend," I greeted, shaking his hand as I felt the strength from his grip.

"You're a gentle one aren't you?" I heard him say, releasing his grip on my hand.

"Not when's he angry, he's a monster," Markus joked, making his parents chuckle.

"I heard from Markus that you have a beautiful singing voice, can you give us a little demonstration?" Markus' mom asked.

"I'm sorry, but I only sing when I have some music to sing to," I explained, seeing some disappointment in her eyes, "but you both are welcome to come to the end of the year party that's coming up soon. I'll be one of the performers and you'll be expecting to see me a lot,"

"So you're one of the best performers?" she asked, giving her a nod.

"It's settled then, we're definitely going," Markus' dad agreed, giving me a smile.

"You guys are going to absolutely love him! He's so talented!" Markus showered me with compliments, making me blush.

"No one's perfect Markus, not even me," I expressed, trying to make myself sound normal.

"But to me your perfect," he said, grabbing and pulling me in for a kiss as he pressed his lips against mine. I turned deep red as I saw his parents watching us kiss, pushing myself away from him as I heard both of them chuckle.

"I think you two were made for each other!" his mom said, getting a nod from his dad.

"That's what I think to myself too," Markus said placing a kiss on my head as he drew me in closer to him.

"How about your mom and I get changed first and then we can talk more about you two, okay?" Markus' dad suggested.

"Okay, we'll get settled in while you two get ready," Markus agreed, taking me to the living room as we seated ourselves in a leather loveseat. "So, what do you think of them? Are they great or what!?"

"They're wonderful and all, but I can see now how our holidays are going to be spent together now that I see how much our families are into us," I pointed out.

"You're probably right, but if I spend my holidays with you then nothing can be more perfect," Markus said, nuzzling me as I snuggled in closer to him. Life couldn't get any better than this, but there's a bad for every good now is there?
