"No!!" I shouted, slamming the stall door open and charging at Markus. Both of them looked my way with shocked expressions. I tackled myself into Markus, sending us both sprawling on the floor. I was on top of him, throwing punches at him. He wasn't going to take Silnis from me!

"Luke Johnson, stop this right now!!" Silnis demanded. I stopped immediately when I heard him, looking up at him. He pushed me off and helped Markus up, glaring at me. "What do think you're doing?!"

"He's was going to steal you from me!" I accused, pointing at Markus.

"What are you talking about?! We're just friends! Can't I have friends without you trying to kill them!" he defended. I saw a smile flash across Markus face when Silnis said they were friends.

"If you're just friends then what was with all the kissing and hugging?!" I asked.

"So you're saying friends can't kiss and hug each other?! And what were you doing hiding in the stalls? I seriously can't have any privacy with you around," Silnis asked, letting go of Markus and coming towards me.

"I don't want you to be friends with him! I know he likes you and is trying to steal you from me!" I accused again. Silnis then did something I never thought I see him do to me; he slapped me across the face. I was in complete shock. Silnis...had hit me.

"Get your mind straight Luke! I'm not with you anymore! We stopped dating ever since you cheated on me! Why can't you understand that I just don't love you anymore!?" Silnis yelled at me. Those words hit my heart right to the point where it hurt. I looked at those beautiful silver eyes of his, those eyes I used to stare into back when we were together. They were so full of love back then, but now it was empty and devoid of anything for me. But...I refuse to give up on him! I may have done a stupid thing in the past, but I can always change! I pulled away my shirt collar to show a sparkling gold necklace with a ruby pendant attached to it. Silnis twitched when he saw the necklace, recognizing it as the one I bought for him.

"I still love you Silnis. Please forgive me for what I did before. I was stupid back then, but I promise I'll be a better mate for you!" I said, seeing Silnis tense up as I said this. "Please...forgive me,"

"I'm sorry Luke...but I can't," he said, turning to leave, leaving me standing there with a somber look on my face. I watched as Markus gave me one last glance before heading after Silnis. I looked down at the ruby pendant that glimmered in the fluorescent light of the bathroom, hearing Silnis' words repeat themselves in my head. Some part of me wished that Silnis would've said yes, but the other part knew better that he would've said no. But that was all right, I could wait for him because I had the rest of my life to wait. I will never give up on him, never.

I'm sorry Luke, but I can't forgive you now. Maybe someday in the future, but who knows when that'll happen. I don't understand why he wore my necklace, that beautiful piece of jewelry that once belonged to me. I remembered when he first gave it to me for Christmas in a small red box with a green ribbon. I literally jumped in joy when I unwrapped, tackling Luke in a tight hug. It was the best thing anyone had ever gotten me and I treasured it until that fateful night.

"Couldn't you just forgive him Silnis?" Markus asked me, walking besides me.

"That's easier said than done. I'm still holding a grudge against him from before," I said, my eyes to the ground.

"You're stubborn," Markus said, lightly punching my arm.

"Get used to it," I told him.

"You want to go somewhere?" he asked me.

"Like where?" I asked, not really caring.

"How about the park?" he suggested.

"Sure, why not," I agreed, the both of us taking a right corner. Minutes later, we arrived at the park, it being completely empty. I walked over to a bench facing the lake, taking a seat as I felt the gentle spring breeze blow through my fur. I also felt an arm go around me and saw that Markus was sitting next to me, a small grin on his face. He suddenly me drew me closer to him until my head was resting on his chest.

"Cheer up, at least you got me," Markus said, smiling.

"Last I checked we were just friends," I reminded him, pushing myself away. He gave me a puppy look with an added whimper, playing around with me. "You can beg and whimper all you want but that's not going to work on me,"

"Come on, can't I just at least hold you close to me?" he asked, disappointed.

"When I'm ready," I told him, looking out at the gray lake.

"When is that going to be?" he asked, scooting closer to me.

"When I start to warm up to you," I said, seeing a flock of geese fly by.

"So were just friends?" he asked. I nodded my head, looking back at him.

"Just friends," I answered, giving him a small smile. Suddenly, I felt a drop of rain on my head and finally noticed that the sky was dark gray.

"Hey did you feel that? It felt like...rain," Markus said, seeing me tense up a bit. "We gotta get you home...now!" He grabbed my hand and pulled me with him as he made a mad dash for my house. It soon started raining and we were soaked, Markus picking up his pace. My house was only four more blocks from here. I hope we could make it before any...BANG!! I screamed and yanked my hand away from Markus', covering my ears.

"Silnis, get up! We're almost there! You can do it come on!" Markus encouraged, trying to get me off the ground.

"I can't...I can't...BANG!" I screamed again and ran off in the opposite direction, Markus crying out for me to stop. I need a loud place! Anything that can drown out the horrible sound of thunder!

"Silnis, wait!!" I shouted, chasing after him. He didn't hear me as fear took over him, sending him on a frantic search for a hiding place. Damn, if only I had known it was going to rain today!! There was another bang of thunder and Silnis screamed again, turning a sharp left corner and into a theater. He was too fast for me as I entered the movie theater, looking around for Silnis. I caught sight of a silver tail entering one of the movie rooms and went inside, searching for Silnis in the dark room.

"Silnis...where are you!" I whispered loudly, catching the sound of crying and sniffling nearby. Following it, I found Silnis curled up in one of the rows of seats.

"Markus...is that you?" he asked, looking up at me.

"Yes, it's me. Everything's going to be alright, okay?" I reassured, pulling him to me. He was so weak and fragile like this, like a little pup. All I could do was hold him...for now.

The theater was the only place I knew that had sound-proof walls, and it was the closest. I ran into one of the rooms and curled up in one of the rows of seats, still shaken from the thunder. It was times like this that all I did was cry until my eyes were dry.

"Silnis...where are you?" I heard someone whisper loudly. A dark figure walked up the stairs and into my row, crouching down to my level.

"Markus...is that you?" I asked, still crying.

"Yes, it's me. Everything's going to be alright, okay?" he reassured me, pulling me into him. I stopped crying instantly and snuggled in closer to him, wanting some kind of protection. At this point I didn't care if Markus was holding me. All that mattered was that I was safe and that someone was protecting me. At home, whenever it was thundering, my mom would tell my brother to give me his Ipod so that I could drown out the thunder with music. But, my brother would occasionally forget to charge it so my mom would resort to turning on the TV and radio just loud enough to the point where the thunder wasn't audible. Now, in Markus' arms, I felt safe and warm. A sensation I hadn't felt in such a long time. It was like being trapped in the desert and finding water to drink after days of traveling. You would never think water tasted that good, but it was after days of not having it. These feelings that I've kept locked up for so long were starting to come out again, giving me a taste of what it they were like.

"Silnis...," Markus said.

"What...?" I asked, looking up at him. Suddenly, his lips were pressed up against mine in a passionate kiss. My eyes were wide with shock. I would've slapped Markus away and starting yelling at him...but this felt...nice. It's been so long since someone kissed me and I actually...enjoyed it. I wrapped my arms around his head, pulling him tighter into the kiss as our tongues rolled around each other's mouths. He broke the kiss, staring into my eyes as I did at his. I felt his hand softly caress my cheek, making me smile.

"I love you," he confessed.

"I know...," I said, looking down at the floor.

"Do you love me?" he asked. Do I love him? I honestly didn't know. It's been so long since I had a taste of love so I had forgotten that feeling of when you were in love.

"I...don't know Markus," I told him, seeing the disappointment in his eyes, "but all I can say is that I like you," I thought he would be upset at this and walk away, but he softly kissed the top of my head, giving me that smile of his.

"That's good enough for me," he said, pulling me in for another hug. "I'll love you no matter what," This moved my heart as I so desperately wanted to tell him that I loved him too, but I knew that it would be a lie to say that. I needed to confess to him when the time was right, when love came back to me. For now, my frozen heart was starting to thaw out slowly. The ice of my past was melting away with the warmth of Markus' love. Like I said before, I just needed someone to give me a part of their flame to reignite mine.
