Um... Unamed story Teaser chapter 1 :3
Dear Journal, No that's stupid...
Well, I was told I should keep a journal or a log to keep myself sane, but after what's happened I don't know if I ever was. The series of events that led me to meet many friends, enemies, and most importantly, my mate, was... well, just hear it and find out. First off, there IS life on other planets. We are not alone. There is other sentient life, blah de blah de blah. I would have preferred just looking up and wondering... Instead, it all started one humid summer day. "Baal, get your lazy ass up and come over here!" Screeches up to the trees, where I was taking my nap. "Nnngh, go away Nissa, I'm trying to sleep." I grumbled, rolling over. "If you don't get your red scaly butt out here right now, by Salthasar I'll..." I moan as Nissa goes on another one of her long rants. She's been my friend since we were hatchlings. Oh... right... You're probably not my species... Well, let me clear that up then. I'm a Sarswillian, born on the planet Sarswat. I've been told that we look like the creatures called lizards on the planet Earth, but we stand tall, like a human. I'm 5'10" red scaled with black teardrop shapes over my milky white eyes, and black stripes randomly cover my torso and tail... I'm spindly, not muscular, but not bony either. Anyway, back to the story.
"Fine, fine, I'll get down if you just stop raving already." I tease her as I hop down. I walk over to the 6' lizard. Gods do I miss her. I miss her dazzling sea blue scales, her brilliant purple eyes, her frills that go down her neck, the way she painted each nail a different color... *sigh*
Anyway, as Nissa led me to the village, she was prattling on and on about how, "You should be more assertive," and, "How you can't spend your whole life sleeping," and, "How will you support your family if you can't even do the simple tasks asked of you," and blah blah blah. She led me to the Keeper's hut and we entered, making sure to bow to him and his guards.
"There you two are! I had though you went off for some more... private time." He smirks, a twinkle in his coal black eyes. His deep voice vibrated the fixtures on the wall as he let out a rumbling chuckle, his jungle green chest bouncing in rhythm. Nissa and I exchange a quick glance, then blush deeply. He certainly knew our buttons, that man.
"Well if you're done fooling around in the forest, I've got a job for you two. As you know, when you turn 19 you're assigned duties to serve our clan. Baal, with your recent 19th birthday, you are now obligated to do the roles assigned to you. I'm assigning you to be Nissa's charge until you show that you are able to complete these on your own." He smirks at that last sentence. "Nissa, I assume you'll keep him on his feet?" "Yes, Keeper, I shall." She replied, bowing again. She certainly loved the formality of it all.
"Good, your first assignment is to calm down a farmer on the hill range." He leans forward, resting his elbows on his knees, suddenly all business, "He's spooked about some thing he saw flying in the sky. Normally, we'd let the fool cower in his hut, but this happens to be one of your families' friend and our only sesriska farmer. (For you humans, it looks sort of like a radish, except orange and tastes very sweet.) Please talk some sense into him and get him back to farming. His name is Siluss, I think you know where he lives." He leans back, suddenly all smiles again, "And if not, I'm sure you two wouldn't mind 'getting lost' on the way."
I flush again, looking down at my feet as we bow and walk out. "Can you believe him? Where does he get off embarrassing us like that?" I fume, kicking a pebble. Nissa stopped suddenly and turned to face me, "How dare you insult the Keeper like that! Don't you know that he... blah blah blah... for out... blah blah" You get the picture. So as we meander through the forest to the farmer's quarter, I hold my hand out to stop Nissa's blathering. She started to get angry again, but stopped as she heard it too. Screams were coming from the direction of the farms along with flickering lights that could only be fire. We took a quick look at each other, nodded, then rushed forward as fast as we could... The images I saw have stayed with me since.
