A Necromancer's Heart:Chapter 3
Chapter 3 (Derek's P.O.V.)
I had to watch as Soul, the one I loved, was kidnapped. I had tried to get to him but the kidnappers had thrown a sac of sleeping gas in the hall. Everyone had fallen asleep. No one could help Soul. A sudden surge of rage coursed through my being. 'How dare they take Soul away from his family, from his kingdom...from me.' I thought angrily, looking around I saw the king and queen looking for their children. I decided to help finding the other five. The queen broke down in tears, her family trying to soothe her.
As my anger grew the desire to kill increased. Not wanting to be banished I left for the garden. The first place we had actually talked properly. In fact the first place I had seen him in person.
_3 years ago
It was a frosty day and Soul was sitting on the bench in the middle of the royal garden. He was drawing something. Walking closer I saw a Robin on a branch or the bush in opposite the bench. He drawing was pretty darn detailed.
"That's a really good drawing," I whispered into his ear. He leaned back against me. He asked me if I was being honest. "I wouldn't lie Prince Soul." he gave a small chuckle that sounded like a soothing melody. His laugh warmed me up.
"You don't have to call me Prince, just Soul will do," he told me with a smile. I swear if a cold hearted person saw that smile their hearts would melt and swell with happiness. Smiling back letting him get back to his drawing. He's so nice,' I thought before returning to my duties._
I wiped a tear away from the memory. How could someone, so pure Be kidnapped. What did they want from him. Money? Power? Had to be something along those lines. It's the way most people's minds work in this day and age. Well not in the city of Moon Light. Everyone here looks after each other, almost as if they are all related.
My mind kept on drawing back to the kidnappers. I knew it couldn't be anyone in the city which left the rest of the world. 'That narrows it down' I thought sarcastically. I wandered through the market place, we often walked around the city. Mainly the market though, I remember last year when we ended up sitting on top of a wall sharing a sandwich.
Walking through the guard tower door and sitting down in the first available seat, I started to let my theories travel through my mind expanding into conspiracy theories. Soon Greg, one of my guard friends walked in and spotted me.
Greg is a snow tiger with sapphire eyes and a friendly features. He is about two years older than me, he often brags about how easy it is being able to change his tasks for the day. He took the seat opposite me smiling trying to hide the worry he was feeling. We sat and chatted for a while before he asked me.
"You ok, Derek?" I hadn't realised the change in topic so stayed silent. He nudged me so I would look at him. He asked again, this time I shook my head. I asked Greg why someone would want to kidnap some as pure as Soul. I just couldn't stop thinking about it. Then again I loved him and now he was gone, suppose it's only natural to worry like hell about him. Greg tried to soothe my unease telling me if they wanted to kill him they would have done so not kidnap him. It helped, somehow just knowing he was probably still alive was enough. I wasn't going to let it slide, sooner or later he wouldn't be able to soothe my anxiety.
"Think the king will let me have sometime to get my thoughts together?" I asked Greg sarcastically. He laughed, shaking his head. I got up telling him I was going to turn in early. He nodded telling me not to worry too much about the prince. I nodded thinking about how difficult that would be.
Walking through the moon lit streets, I looked around to find sad faces at every turn. This truly was a time of sadness. I hope he is ok.
When I arrived back at my house the streets were deserted. Couldn't blame them, it had been a long day for the city. Opening the door I found mail. One was a bill the other two were letters from relatives across the sea.
My house isn't massive, but it's quaint. Outside the flowers grow healthily and there's a tree in the back yard. Inside there is a kitchen, living room, a toilet and two bedrooms.
I have been living here since i was about fifteen. I became a guard in the same year. They were always recruiting guards and soldiers, even now. But something told me they would be doubling the request. I wouldn't put it past the king and queen, cause what if these kidnappers came back for the rest of the siblings.
Shaking my head, I walked up to my room and closed the door. My room isn't big but it's okay. The bed is to the far wall on the right, the window next to it. My wardrobe is next to the bathroom door in my room. On the wall above my bed is a sketch from Soul. Feeling the sting of tears I quickly wiped my eyes before heading for a shower.
Turning on the shower and setting it to a cold temperature i slowly stepped in. I like having a cold shower because it let's me feel numb even if it is just for a few minutes. I wrapped my towel around my waist before heading over to the sink and clearing the mirror of steam. I looked dead. Not that I was, I could see now that my eyes had no life in them. They seemed empty. Quickly brushing my teeth I decided to go to bed early. I turned for the door and headed for my bed, falling asleep instantly only to be awakened by his face. Souls face. This happened every time I closed my eyes, all the time till day break. I hope we find him soon, I can't live without him.
