++STORY++

Terryn was birthed by a shaman, a seer of the tribe he was born into. She knew that the child would be special, and powerful, but that he would possibly be evil as well, though she kept this to herself.

The boy was naturally bright, and was incredibly observant, as well as quiet most of the time. When he was just old enough to be fed meat, he showed signs that he could see spirits and future events, as could his mother. This sign was one of ill fortune for the child, and so the tribe decided that he be raised apart from his mother, by the tribe's circle of druids. In this, like all other things, he showed incredible talent, but his talents as a seer never diminished and grew stronger. Once he was old enough to know that he wasn't supposed to see spirits, he began to act as though he couldn't, convincing the tribe easily, to their relief.

When the boy was ten years old, his tribe was attacked by kobolds, and his mother was slain by the magic of a kobold sorcerer. Terryn witnessed this act and reacted with violence, casting magic that manipulated the branches of a small weeping widow tree to grab the kobold. Everyone saw as the invader's spirit was pulled, violently, out of it's body and into the tree, as though the sappling ate it somehow. After this, the tree itself shuddered and uprooted itself and, simply, acted individually. Through forcing the plant to devour the creature's soul, he had created an intelligent plant!

The village cut down the animated tree with extreme prejudice and burned the entire thing along with the body of the dead kobold. His tribe turned blame at the boy, then, cursing and accusing him as being responsible for the entire event. He would have been likewise attacked and burned if it wasn't for the druids who had raised him from a toddler. They held the tribe at bay and allowed him to escape, leaving him with only two words ringing in his head that night, "Banished," and "Alone."

The circle of druids tried their best to keep in contact with Terryn, but he was too distraught and angry to listen to them, and soon they could no longer find the now orphaned child. The adolescent was angry and alone, but finally free, an orphan alone in an ancient forest, followed by the spirits of his ancestors. Now that he could finally communicate with these spirits without ridicule, he found his mother's. Her soul was almost constantly crying for him, unable to pass on, and he couldn't stand it.

One night, he desperately tried to direct her spirit into a huge tree so that she could live again. The soul screamed in agony every second, but the boy did not relent. Rather than the tree, though, her spirit fused with a vine on the tree, which then became animated. The animated vine, his mother, died just hours after this as it was unable to house the soul for long. The vine's dying forced the spirit, through a second death, to cross over.

Terryn has learned to live with his loneliness since then, though he has experimented and developed his unique brand of druidic/shamanistic magic.

He has learned how to form blood crystals to permanently house the spirits that he drains from his weak-minded or weakened victims. These crystals are adapted to "live" within vines that wrap around and infect bodies. These bodies can be alive, or dead, but they must be devoid of a mind or spirit. These puppets follow Terryn's every command, though he has only made a few. The puppets, if live bodies, eventually rot and become zombies, and then skeletons under his control. The vines with the blood-cystals remain wrapped around the puppets throughout. This is just one of Terryn's powers, an example of his dangerously walking the line between good and evil.
