genetic children log 26- The rescue begins.
#23 of Genetic Children
In the silence of the outback of South Australia, slowly creeping towards the small encampment of Mimili, Korm's mind was almost blank. While driving from the bunker he had focused every ounce of his rage and hatred into the single objective of wiping out every guard, every officer, every single life in that camp.
Just as the sun was beginning to peak over the horizon painting the day ahead with glorious hues of red and orange, Korm's radio crackled quietly into life.
"Korm the computer says your there." Niel's voice came through the shortwave radio on his belt.
"Niel I really hoped you would be quiet until I asked you questions." Korm joked.
Korm turned the volume knob on his radio down further till Niel's voice was barely a whisper. He stopped just below the lip of the rise where they had assaulted the camp from the first time. He slowly checked his weapons for the fifth time since leaving, he was definitely ready to tear this place apart again.
He crept up to the lip of the hill and looked down.
The camp had been reinforced since last time and it now had a fence and a few more sentries. It also had twin .50caliber mounted machine guns and snipers on two of the roofs. Korm didn't want to risk lens flare by pulling out his sniper scope, so he backed down from the ledge and crawled back into the bushes, once there he pulled out his .338 Lapua Magnum.
His sniper rifle drifted casually over the camp prioritizing targets as he went, he knew he would be asking Niel for some more help shortly.
Korm counted fifteen sentries and two snipers all able to see and cover each other, they would have to die fast. His gun only had a 9 round magazine, this would be a busy few minutes.
He sighed and settled down to watch the patrols and see if he could spot a weakness in their paths, he was just about to shoot one of the roof sentries when he heard, with perfect clarity, the distant rumble of a car approaching the camp.
"Niel, there's a car approaching the camp do you see it?" Niel was watching the base via satellite and should have said something.
"Niel?" Korm's radio stayed silent.
He watched as the car rolled towards the camp kicking up the red dust . The red wisps chasing the car rolled around in the sky. He thought the car looked familiar, and as it stopped he knew why. Wade stepped out of the car, dressed in a black suit, he was wearing shiny black sunglasses and fancy square toed shoes.
He looked like he was going to a business conference, not a military camp. The second thing Korm noticed was that he was being followed by two men in khakis, one held a large duffel bag and the other held a chain connected to the figure that was still in the car.
Korm heard a scream, and one of the guards flew out the door, and lay motionless on the sand. He saw Wade shake his head and wave to the guards around him. Several stepped forward to help him, leaving gaps for Korm to exploit. He shifted his scope away from the car scene and took aim at one of the sentries along the left side of the building. His silenced gun spat quietly and less than a second later he saw the man fall silently as the bullet penetrated his skull. The only sound that would have been made was a slight, meaty crunch and a quiet splat as the man's brain hit the wall.
The roof sentry moved towards the sound, curious as to what his friend was doing. As he neared the edge Korm took him out, watched him pitch forward and saw him land next to his friend.
He decided that he had made enough of a hole and turned his scope back to the car. Wade and the first two guards were inside now and Korm was watching them try to drag the other person out of the car. Three men were pulling on the chain, and then it went slack. And all three fell backwards.
He saw his wife fly out of the car and proceed to literally rip one of the guards face off. Before the second one got up, she sprang forward and kicked him back down using the chain to strangle him as. The third guard had his gun out and was yelling at her to stop. She kept going, she must have know they needed her. Once the man on the ground died gurgling, she stared slowly walking towards the man holding the gun.
