Can I Tell You Something?
This is a free verse poem that I made kinda spontaneously. I've never done a lot of poetry but I just jotted this down. This is kind of a personal thing that has been going on with me lately and I wanted to get some of those feelings into writing. The person's name is fictional, but does represent someone in my life. I hope you enjoy, feedback is always appreciated.
CAN I TELL YOU SOMETHING?
Can I tell you something?
Something I've never told anyone
Not a soul
I'm not sure how to say it
This isn't easy
Just hear me through
I need to get something off my chest
Yeah, everything's alright
It's just...
I'm afraid
Of you and everyone else if I said anything
I've been meaning to say something
I'm terrified
Nick,
I'm gay
Yeah I'm serious
I've known for a while now
No, I don't have a boyfriend
Not yet
I hope to
Yeah, there is someone I'd like to be with
But, I'm hesitant to tell him
He's got a girlfriend
Maybe I should tell him
Yeah, it's someone you know
No, not him
Nor him
It's not him either
Fine, I'll tell you
