As a note i re-uploaded this chapter. I thought i could put more in so i did... Anyway it's just something i feel that made it a bit better as the first upload was a tad rushed. I promise i will never do it again.

Still here's my new story, i wanted it to be quiet dark so that's what you'll be reading. Anyway these first few sections are a bit of a prolouge but still i feel they are necessary. Feel free to comment/Flame if you want.

*Enjoy * Just as a notice, this was written a while ago when I was considerably worse at writing.

There was a deathly silence in the cave were two young dragons sat, nothing was stirring and the whole world seemed to have stopped working. The only noise was the soft pitter patter of rain falling outside and the small fire which crackled gently beside the pair. Cynder stared out into the bleak and miserable world with a look of sadness, this was the world they had saved, scars of past battle's with her dark armies still showed clearly and it constantly reminded her of her dark past.

Spyro was contemplating many things in his head, but the main one was the black dragoness sitting next to him. He longed to hold her close and kiss her, he was desperate to show his true feelings for her but he knew he never could. Cynder had never showed any sign of attraction to him and no matter he tried he simply could work up the courage to talk to her about it, they had spent three years together and Spyro could feel his heart bursting with emotion for the black dragoness. The dark one had been defeated and he should be rejoicing the peace, yet the constant upset in his own heart kept most feelings of joy at bay. The happiest he felt was when he was with Cynder and yet his fear of losing her and not being able to tell her his feelings slowly destroyed him from within.

As the rain fell Spyro thought to himself, what if Cynder did like him? What if such torment which he caused himself was a illusion and really he should be brave? In his life he had always been afraid, but always he had fought through it. The only reason why he was here now was because he had dared to leave the safety of his home. His head ached as he thought of so many different ways that his life could have turned out.

"Cynder...?"

He asked quietly to no reply

He looked at the black dragoness and could see her look of concern on her beautiful face.

"Hey... what's wrong Cynder? you look really down" He said tenderly but Cynder kept facing out towards the bleak dusk. She replied in a upset voice but her face conveyed no emotion.

"It's nothing Spyro... thank you for asking but there is nothing you can help me with"

Spyro let his head drop a little. Everytime he had asked her why she was sad she had been so dismissive, there was another ache from his chest. He got to his feet slowly and laid a paw on her shoulder.

"Come on Cynder... it's getting cold, let's move away from the rain."

Without saying a word she got up and made her way towards the purple dragon, he smiled gently at her but she didn't return it, she just sat down and stared at the wall. A look of pure emotionless hurt Spyro more than any sort of expression, she was so distant, but Spyro tried. Spyro made his way next to her and sat, slowly wrapping a wing around her.

"Cynder... please tell me what's wrong. I hate to see you upset, come on, I'm sure we can work it out"

He tried comforting her and Cynder relaxed a little into his embrace. She spoke in a hushed voice and Spyro listened intently.

"It's my past..."

Spyro kept hugging her and whispered.

"What about it... please tell me Cynder... it hurts me to see you like this."

Cynder sighed gently and spyro saw a glisten in her eyes.

"All around me I see scars of my past, in the hillside and even in you... those marks on your legs will never go and it makes me feel like scum to know that I did this to you"

Cynder slowly reached out to touch the line of dead scales, her face sunk and she withdrew into herself.

"Cynder... they are just tiny marks, I hardly notice them. You shouldn't let little things like that get you down."

Cynder looked at him with an exasperated look and spoke in a strained voice.

"But it's not just the little things! Look around you! The valley still has marks from past battles with MY armies!"

Spyro could see her look of disgust and upset, but Cynder pushed him away and got to her feet. She became louder and louder untill the cave echoed with her voice of hurt.

"Then there's the people of warfang! if I go back they will only hate me! They expect a hero, they expect you! Not the former terror of the skies! This world does not want me here! I am just evil to them"

Spyro just sat and watched, not knowing what to do, as she paced towards the exit. Her eye's shone brightly in the light of the fire and she stared yet again out at the valley before them. Spyro desperately said.

"Cynder! how can you think that? You saved the world and you aren't the terror of the skies! You are a kind and sensitive dragoness, no-one who ever think you were evil in a million years."

But Cynder was too upset to listen, she turned back to him and her eyes were streaming tears.

"Maybe not you but how do you know about others? How do you know how they will react? They guardians barely excepted me when you saved me! I didn't save the world! You did! I just pathetically tried to help and did nothing!"

Spyro was shocked by the words coming from her mouth, who could she think that? Why would she think it? Cynder stopped abrupbtly and she sat down. She stared at the ground and spoke.

"I'm sorry for flipping out... it's just no-one cares about me, no-one ever has, and no-one ever will."

Spyro sat down directly opposite her and he gently tilted her head upwards so it faced him. Spyro wasn't going to be afraid anymore, he knew what he had to tell her and he hoped it would save her.

"Cynder I care! I care about you all the time! When you ran away at the temple, I was hurt so badly! When your own darkness possessed you I lost all hope in life. You are the only thing that keeps me going... I love you Cynder... With all my heart I love you"

He pulled her in and they kissed, they kissed and Spyro tried desperately to express his emotion through the contact. Yet when they finally broke apart Cynder's eyes watered even more and she whispered to him.

"Spyro I love you too... I'm so sorry..."

Spyro wondered what she meant but them there was a crack as Cynder's tail swung round and smacked Spyro on the back of the head, he collapsed and his eyes rolled in his head, the last word he uttered before he blacked out was.

"Cynder..."

Cynder stared at the dragon in front of her and she cried deeply. She slowly got up and moved the unconscious body next to the fire to keep it warm. She whispered into his ear gently and fat tears fell repeatedly on his face.

"Spyro I love you more than you could possibly know, and that is why I must do this. This place is not for me and I cannot stay with you. I have caused too much hurt and too much suffering to be accepted and I will not torment others with my presence."

She glanced out at the rain and she stammered slightly as another wave of emotion hit her.

"I have to go... do not come and look for my, by the time you wake I will be long gone, you will be wasting your time. Maybe some far off land will accept me, maybe not. Either please don't think I hate you, I care so much about you that it is killing me to tell you this. I love you Spyro"

She planted a small kiss on his lips and she walked to the cave entrance, She was leaving everything she cared about behind. But she knew that she was helping him, she knew that they were never meant to be. She knew that she would never love anyone else and it was her destiny to be alone... Her actions were catching up on her and she knew what she must do.

She looked at the purple dragon one final time and whispered.

"I will never forget you, goodbye"

She turned her back and took off into the miserable sky, her final sobs echoing muffled the slowly falling rain.

***************

Spyro woke to the sound of birds singing, he jumped to his feet and looked desperately around the cave. But the only thing that greeted him was the morning sun and the grey rock of the cave. His heart crumpled in his chest, she was gone... Cynder was gone...

"no..." he whispered and he stumbled outside, he opened his mouth and screamed to the sky.

"NOOO!!! CYNDER!!"

His knees gave away and his face hit the mud beneath him. He taste the mud but it didn't register in his head, he was to anguished by the loss of his love. He called out desperately again, his eyes shut.

"Cynder!! Please answer me! Please still be here!"

But no answer came and when Spyro open his eyes the smiling face of Cynder didn't greet him, the purple dragon's soul was crushed and he wept. He had told her the he loved and she said she loved him back! This wasn't fair! Why would this happen? After all he had done, after he nearly sacrificed himself for the world, after he had spent three years fighting for good! Why did he deserve to lose all that were close to him.

"Why?... WHY!!! WHY DO THIS TO ME!..."

He screamed into the sky and he kept crying.

"Why did you go?"

His voice grew less and less untill nothing more came out. The world shone but in his mind the fields of green had turned to grey and he felt no warmth from the sun. He desperately tried to get up and take off in search of her but instead his wings could barely take his weight and he crashed down to earth.

As he crashed he saw a rock slash his leg, but he felt no pain. Blood began to pour out of the wound but all it did was remind him and Cynder's tears last night. He looked in the direction of the great dragon city and he punched the ground.

"IT YOUR FAULT!! YOU FUCKIN' UNGREATFUL SCUMBAGS!"

He yelled towards the city but the only reply came from a new voice in his head, the voice was a mixture of all his darkest feelings and it spoke in a brutally harsh voice.

"No! it's your fault! She left because of you! It's you! IT'S YOU! You are pathetic! First you lose Ignitus then you lose Cynder! You aren't a hero! You are a weakling, a small weak brat! It's your fault she left! It's your fault she left!"

Spyro recoiled and fell backwards as the voice screamed at him. Again and again the voice yelled it's message and soon Spyro started to mumble it.

"it's my fault she left, It's my fault she left" He curled up and shook violently as he repeated it.

His darkness seeped into his soul but Spyro no longer fought it, his scales didn't change but he let the pain and anger surge through him, corrupting his core with darkness. An hour passed and he just lay there, the taint in his heart growing untill nothing more of his original self showed.

He shuddered as if cold and he felt his heart turn to stone. His face became emotionless and he got to his feet, he started to walk in the direction of Warfang, his voice box closed down and no more noise came from his mouth. He had no heart anymore and the world had punished him for an unknown crime, birds song turned to screeches and his mind shut down expect for his most basic functions.

The purple corpse once so full of life walked towards the distant outline of the city in silence as the world died around him.
