Guardian Wars: Unexpected
#1 of Guardian Wars
He should have seen it coming.
Though, it all happened so fast he could never register the moment the energy blast had hit him. The impact was hard enough to throw him back a few feet from where he was standing but he never should have stood there like an idiot. He should have dodged the energy blast and ran back down the alley way. Back to where he came from and forget about how this all happened so fast in a span of 24 hours.
But he was already in too deep. There was no way he could turn back now and forget about this night like as if it was a dream, he was involved now.
The energy blast came at him too fast to even notice where it came from, but his peripheral vision had noticed it was a blue bolt. As if lightning had been shot directly horizontal at him, like as if it had been fired from a gun.
But he knew it wasn't a gun.
It was... a Force! Something from a science fiction movie, but those weren't real-he knew that-but what he got himself into was real. This wasn't a science fiction movie; this wasn't something you would read from a book. This was real and dangerous. His ears perked down from the fear in his gut, his yellow eyes searching around the dark and damp alleyway for any sign of his attacker.
That is, until he heard a shuffling from behind him.
Gasping in a quick second, Cedrick Coleman spun around on the balls of his feet to only be greeted by a wide grinning lizard, his eyes looking into Jarred's and making him step a few feet back. His eyes were glowing a light, powdery blue color that seemed to make his eyes look like neon lights in the dark, having Cedrick's spine shiver from the cold gleam he was receiving. Cedrick hadn't been able to focus on his surroundings; he was only worried about the Lizard wearing a long dark cloak with baggy hood around his neck standing in front of him.
His hands were sparking with blue misting electricity that looked like it was much untamed, as if when the Lizard clenched or moved his hand it would either get brighter and stronger or brighter and violent.
This made Cedrick remember the impact he'd just received and then looked at those hands. He must have shot an electric bold at him. Not like a gun but very close to one.
"So you're the final contestant in this battle." His voice was as if he was hissing with amusement, it made Cedrick terrified with fear and wants his legs to actually cooperate in wanting to run. "Yet, you're all alone... I wonder where your Guardian is."
Guardian...? What was he talking about? Cedrick wanted to ask what the man was talking about, but he wasn't able to find the words quickly enough.
"You do know what a Guardian is... Right?" It was as if the man read his mind and knew instantly what was going through Cedrick's head. Cedrick wondered if he should think or not, he was too scared by now.
Cedrick never answered but the Lizard with the glowing blue mist around his hands took the silence as his answer.
"Well," His voice was disappointing but yet he still made it sound amused, "That doesn't matter right now. I might as well get rid of you before you actually become a threat in this tournament... No hard feelings, kid." He raised his right hand and turned his body sideways, focusing his core body energy into his hand to make the blue mist solidify into a thick deep blue gel, his hand now disappearing from Cedrick sight.
Cedrick's heart beat increased as he watched the man in front of him become smug, as if he was already comfortable with killing someone. Cedrick's legs were now numb with fear; he couldn't find the power to move them...
He now came to the realization that this may be the last breath he may take...
"RUN!"
A figure fell from the top of Cedrick's eye and landed in front of the Lizard, grabbing his hand down to the ground with him and bringing a dark green energy blast upward with his other hand, smacking the smug lizard dead center in the stomach and forcing him up into the air about twenty feet. Where did he come from? Looking up, Cedrick must have guessed he jumped down from the rooftops. But the distance he fell from must have been at least thirty-five metres, how could he survive that jump and land perfectly?
The dark figure immediately stood up into a fighting position, his claws now tensing with a glowing green mist, ready for the Lizard if he made a next move. But the Lizard's reflexes were faster than he thought as his body twisted in mid-air to turn around with flames of blue soaring down his core body and into his hand, throwing large untamed fire toward the figure standing below him. Everything around Cedrick glowed blue as the two sets of flames drew toward them. Cedrick wondered if this was when he would take his last breath...
But sure enough, the figure standing in front of Cedrick countered back. Lifting both his hands in front of his chest and crossing them into an 'X', the figure erupted a large explosion which sent a wave of bright green light in all directions, the sound of the walls in the alleyway crumpling from the impact and forcing Cedrick to shut his eyes.
Then the blue flames hit.
Opening his eyes again, Cedrick found himself inside a translucent green bubble that shielded him and the figure from the blue flames. The force of the flames though caught a few things on fire outside the green bubble but nothing too serious for fire trucks to get involved, though Cedrick could already hear sirens in the background. Which meant someone alerted the police. Cedrick was guessing they had at least five minutes before the first wave of police arrive to the scene of explosions.
"Listen," The figure turned and Cedrick could make out the figure. It was a broad chested Dragon, wearing only ripped pants that waved in inside the shield bubble. His scales were red from the arms and back, but an oval patch of yellow on his chest and stomach and continued down past the pant line. His face was of all but serious but his eyes were glowing a bright green, the same as the mist around his claws, "I don't have much time to explain, but you need to get out of here now!" He took a few large steps toward Cedrick and within milliseconds he was standing in front of him, both of his hands on his shoulders, "I'll hold him off as long as I can till you're far from here. I'll meet you when I shake him."
Another energy blast roared outside the bubble and shook the ground long enough for the shield around them to crack in all directions with a white color, shattering into glass pieces and falling down on them. But it did not cut them as it fell on them; it only dissolved as if it wasn't there.
"Excuse me," The Lizard's amused voice came after, sending sharp spikes of fear through his back again. "I found him first!" He stood a few feet back now with both feet finally on the ground, but Cedrick felt as though he wasn't finished sending those large fire balls at them.
Cedrick hadn't realized when his senses finally came back to him that his body was being held in large arms. Opening his eyes, Cedrick found himself in the arms of the Dragon, his scales were cold but that wasn't his main concern right now. "Okay," The Dragon said, releasing Cedrick and turning him around to face the Lizard and his smug grin. "Now, when I count to three, you run..." The Dragon's claws were now glowing green again, which meant he was preparing himself for the battle.
"One..."
The Lizard had done the same thing and squeezed his hands into fists, producing a bright blue mist that looked like untamed fire again. He, too, was getting ready for the battle.
"Two..."
Cedrick noticed that the Lizard was already beginning to lean forward to sprint towards the Dragon.
"Three!"
Cedrick turned and ran, finally finding the energy in his legs to run at full sprint. All that he heard was the soft explosion behind him and the loud roaring of police sirens heading toward them.
