The Hunt
The morning sun shined brightly throughout the forest canopy as Zeng rose from his hammock with a long yawn and stretch before getting dressed and heading to the dining room to join his mothers for breakfast.
"Morning Zeng."
"Morning mom."
Elicia handed Zeng a full plate of eggs bacon and ham that were quickly scarfed down before he grabbed his spear and pole and headed out the door waving goodbye to his two mothers.
"I'll be back around noon."
"Be careful sweetie!"
Sharon was the more protective one of the couple since she found Zeng as a baby and had grown real close since but she knew she couldn't baby him forever as he faded from sight under the foliage. The jungle was eerily quiet minus the birds and insects.
Zeng kept a sharp eye out for any signs of nearby dragons as he stalked a magnificent boar with tusks long and sharp enough to gorge a tree, after taking a deep breath Zeng leapt out of the bushes allowing the boar to see him. as the beast snapped its jaws Zeng readied his spear and bared his teeth ready to face the boar.
"YAAAAAAA!!!!!!"
His yell echoed through the whole jungle scaring the birds from their nests as the boar charged in only to be impaled by the spear as Zengs eyes narrowed seeing the beasts jaws nearly chomp his face off before the boar fell dead. The meat was soon put on a spit after Zeng carefully skinned the beast knowing his room could use some decoration when suddenly he heard an earth shaking roar before a violent wind put out his campfire as he ducked for cover.
A large earth dragon appeared out of the canopy completely destroying Zengs camp and stealing his meal. The beast was as brown as the soil beneath it and its wings were designed for long glides from cliffs and the scales were as hard as rocks except for the underbelly and the smell of its breath was horrid.
"Great....."
Zeng carefully recovered his spear and attempted to sneak away until he stepped on a hidden twig that snapped underneath his weight, giving him away as the dragon dropped the remaining meat from its mouth looking at Zeng with great hunger.
"Why me?"
The dragon gave one quick growl as it chased Zeng under the canopy with its body bringing down every tree in its path, though it didn't look like it this dragon was made for full on ground combat. As Zeng looked back the dragon shot off a fireball as Zeng jumped out of the way allowing the dragon move right on top of him.
"Grr! this is NOT my day-WHOA!!!"
The beast attempted to crush Zeng with its claws while he rolled out of the way before he finally got underneath the dragons belly impaling it right in the heart making it roar with pain as it fell on its side and before he knew it Zeng removed his bloodied spear as he stood on top of the dragon to see his fellow tribesman and his mothers standing before him.
"*pants heavily*.....YA YA!! YA YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!"
His battle cry was joined by the others and while the cheering continued Elicia spotted Sharon swelling up in tears as she stared at Zeng raising his spear in triumph.
"Oh you okay Sharon?"
"It seems only yesterday I was....changing his diapers-WAAHAAA!!!
"Oh come here."
Elicia also stared at her little cub with a proud face as he nodded back at her before they headed back to the village for a celebration knowing the dragon would be a great help in the village.
