Thunder In Paradise (Chapter 1)
The tires start to roll against the dry, sanded ground of the Arizona desert. "Wait wait wait!" Thunder screamed after her mother, running to the truck. Thunder was a normal, 15 year old black wolf, on her way to her first day of freshman year at her new school. Trevor G. Brown High was the biggest school she had ever attended, and she was nervous. "Now hun," her mother, Maria, spoke,"don't be too nervous, a lot of kids will be, just try to make some friends, alright?" Thunder mumbled under her breathe. She wasn't too happy about moving away from her home town up to Phoenix to live with her Grandfather. Thunder and her family has had it rough for a few months, being without their own home. They have moved from a few friend's houses to up with their Grandfather, which he took them in. Thunder was upset about leaving her friends she has known since she was born and going to a different school.
The small red truck pulls into the school parking lot, Thunder's younger sister, Haley, already out and anxious to start this new school. Thunder sighs and gathers her things from the floor, opening the door. "Try to have fun, okay?" her mother says worriedly. Thunder mumbles again, throwing her backpack over one shoulder and walking down the sidewalk to the front doors. The door swings open, it hitting her square in the nose and her falling back in reaction. "Oh my god, I am so sorry!" A young male snow leopard yelps, scrambling to Thunder's side. "Oh, no, it's fine, jus-" She looks at her paw from holding her nose, blood spotted over her yellow paw pad. "Ohh god, I'm sorry, I'll get you to the nurse." The boy grabs Thunder by the shoulder and arm, carefully helping her up. She grunts as she gets up, being a little light headed and follows the boy towards the office, him still holding her by the arm. "Oh, I'm Viktor, by the way." He smiles a dazling smile to Thunder as they start to walk up the ramp to the office door. "Oh, nice to meet you, I'm Thunder." She smiles back shyly, following Viktor through the door.
"Oh my goodness, already blood on the first day!" The nurse recalled, looking closely at Thunder's nose and mouth. "Are you okay deary? I'll get you some asbrin and a paper towel." Thunder nods willingly, looking back at Viktor, him standing by her side. "I'm really sorry I hit you with that door, I-" "It's cool, really, just some blood is all. Good impression for the first day, right?" Thunder chuckles, joined by Viktor. The nurse comes back with a small cup with two tablets in it and a soft, white paper towel. Viktor takes Thunder over to the fountain, taking the cup and filling it with water. Thunder takes the asbrin and water quickly, applying the paper towel to her nose. Viktor opens the door for her and leads her down to the classes again. "Vik! Hey man, where have ya been I've be- oh hello." A dark brown pitbull runs up to Thunder and Viktor, about the same age as them, "Hey Henry, sorry, I had to go and get Thunder fixed up, hit her in the nose with the door." Viktor made a wincing sort of face and looks back at her, his arm around her shoulders. "Why hello Thunder, I see Vik is already gettin comfy with you." Henry laughs, playfully punching Viktor in the shoulder. "Oh shut up, man. Oh, where are the girls? We in class already?" Thunder looks at him, "We have the same classes?" "You're in nineth, right?" She nods in response. "Then yep, you're gonna be stuck with us all year." He grins his amazing grin again, moving then towards a group of loud girls and a few guys, Henry along with them. "Hey guys, this is Thunder." They all look suddenly silent then the talking roars again, a few girls coming to meet the new member. "Hi! I'm Sandra." A small, smiley fox recalls to Thunder, her smiling politely back in response. "Hey! I'm Destiny." A cheerful purple and black wolf hugs Thunder tightly in greeting. Then a quiet, purple tiger approaches Thunder and shakes her paw,"Hey, I'm Leo." From akwardness Thunder replies,"Hi, I'm Thunder." Finally, seeming to be the last one to meet, a towering gray coyote steps up to Thunder, offering a paw,"I'm Spencer." he says dully. "Thunder." She takes his paw quickly and gives a quick smile to him. Everyone talks and gets to know Thunder more then there is a sudden grip around Thunder's neck, her yipping. "Fresh meeeat!" a fit lion claims from behind Thunder, keeping his arms in a soft grasp around her neck. "Hey, take it easyy maan!" Sandra calls out to the lion, him letting go of the grasp and moving to see her face. "Heh, it's not like I as gonna kill her or something! Geesh, calm your tails. Hey, I'm Bryan." The lion moves his paw up to move his sunglasses to his forehead, pinning his bangs back and flashing a white smile. "H-hi, I'm Thunder." Thunder smiles back shyly, feeling warmth on her cheeks and neck. Bryan chuckles, greeting the others. Loudly the school bell rings, telling the studentsto go to class. The group moves on to their first class, Thunder following, already enjoying her first day.
The cafeteria is roaring, students in line for food and others at their tables with their friends. Thunder grabs a tray and steps in line, sliding down and selecting her food for the day. Viktor squeezes in line behind Thunder and taps her shoulder, trying to speak clearly over the sound of kids,"Hey." Thunder turns to see him and smiles,"Hey." "How is the school treating ya?" "Eh, alright, this food looks a bi-" Shes cut off by Bryan running over towards the two, waving,"Hey, what's up?" He pants, smiling and cutting into line with them in front of Viktor. "Oh, just gettin lunch. Where do you guys sit anyways?" "Oh, juuust over there." Bryan turns towards the tables and points over a few tables to where Destiny and Sandra are already settled. "Oh, okay," Thunder says after spottin them,"Can I sit with you?" Bryan busts out laughing cheerfully as they get out of line and wraps his arm around her shoulders,"What kind of a question is that? If you weren't gonna ask, I was gonna ask myself!" He smiles down at her and she smiles back, Viktor slowly walking behind them. "Heeey!" Sandra calls out to them as the approach. Viktor pulls out a chair next to Thunder as Bryan pulls her chair out for her and he is bumped over softly by Bryan's hip. Bryan takes the seat next to Thunder and Viktor moves to the one next to him, starting to eat queitly. Small talk start amongst the kids then turns to normal conversations, Thunder smiling and eating, responding every once in a while, getting to know her new friends.
The last bell rings throughout the empty hallways soon enough to be filled with students eager to finally go home. Thunder and her friends get out of their last class, walking down the hall to their lockers, getting there stuff packed. "So.. do you.. walk home?" Viktor asks her, giving a smile. "Oh yeah! We walk home, we all live in the same neighbor hood." Bryan says from the other side of Viktor. Thunder tilts her hea slightly,"Oh? Which street?" "Roma," Sandra smiles,"Me and Destiny live across the street from the boys." "Wow, really? I live on that road. I think our neighbors are.. the Federov's?" Thunder makes a face, trying to think of the exact name. Viktor slighty pushes his face into his locker before Destiny squeals,"Daw! You live next to Viktor! We've been waiting for someone to take that place. It's pretty." Thunder closes her locker and smiles over at Vik, trying to see his face. Bryan closes his locker also, moving around Viktor to Thunder,"And I live on the left side of you. Ya know, after the other house." He smiles, putting his shades back down over his eyes and starting to walk out of the halls with the girls. Thunder starts to follw then stops, looking back and waiting for Viktor. Viktor smiles and closes his locker, walking along with Thunder behind the others.
They all walk off of campus down the sidewalk and a few blocks down from the school. Bryan groans and stops and bends down to tie his shoe quickly as the group keeps moving. Thunder looks over toViktor and elbows him lightly, smiling when he looks. He smiles back and almost trips over as Bryan runs between him and Thunder, draping his arms over their shoulders cheerfully. Thunder laughs and talks with Sandra over to the side. "Hey bud, what's up?" Bryan smiles over at Viktor, messing up his head fur. Viktor shakes it back in place, making a face. The kids finally reach their neighborhood on Roma, all the houses a dark red shade with darker red frames. The lights are dim as the sun goes down,"Wellp, we'll see you guys tomorrow. Night Thunder." Destiny smiles at Thunder and the boys, walking with Sandra across the street. Thunder hugs Viktor goodnight and he smiles, turning back towards his house next door. Bryan wraps an arm around her neck again,"Well newbie, I'll see you tomorrow." He smiles and pushes his sunglasses back up again,"I'll be up and comin to get ya in the morning, so be ready." He laughs and hugs her, walking down to his house while whistling.
Thunder smiles back at him ten over at Viktors house, followed by the girl's houses. Then she runs up her front stairs, going inside her new house. "Thunder! Is that you?" Her mother walks out of the livingroom, smiling at the smile on her daughter's face,"You had fuuun today didn't you?" She said, pulling her paws on her hips. "It was.. okay." Thunder grinned and walked upstairs to her room, dropping her bag and pouncing onto her bed. "What a daay." She laughs out loud, standing back up and stretching. Thunder turns to look out of her bedroom window and sees her neighbor through her window, suddenly freezing. The gray feline has his back turned towards the window, peeling off his shirt and revealing his muscled back. Thunder's eyes widen slightly more, laying her ears back on her head. The cat slowly turns to the window, struggling out of his pants and he freezes also. Thunder realizes its Viktor and they both stare at eachother, startled. "Thunder!" Haley swoops into her room suddenly, Thunder falling to the floor and Viktor moving to his tiptoes to try to see her. She hops back up to her feet quickly, running to the window and closing the curtains harshly, panting. "Juuust wanted to say dinner is ready." "Okay." She replies breathlessly, sliding down to the floor and thinking about what she just saw, a smile slowly growing on her face as she gets up to go get dinner.
