Too Afraid
Too Afraid
Slowly floating through a sea of silence
My soul shivers in icy winds.
My thoughts sail an endless cruise
Body slammed through waves of violence.
Light shines on the bluish tints
Of aching flesh, badly bruised.
Shattered bones are healing brittle.
Seeping wounds are dripping red
Through fingers clenching fists.
Striking those frail and little.
And smashing their tiny heads
Spraying the walls with crimson mist.
Always just as cuts have healed,
Here's another hidden slash
Covered by the sticky sleeve.
The man once was your shield
But now your meat he will gash.
Afraid to speak, afraid to leave.
Stand and open the brightest door
And run into the day so free.
The world will heal you,
He'll hurt you no more.
Through closed windows you can see.
Leaving, the last thing you will do.
Too afraid to be alone,
This living hell, your tomb, your home.
