"Take your time and relax," says Ray in a low tone, "You've earned it after all that's happened."
I look around, seeing that the walls are painted in a dark purple paint and the floor was completely wooden. I strolled forward, with Ray introducing me into the living room. It was fairly simple with a couch which looked very comfortable and looked like it could hold up to three people. "Liking it?" says Ray. "Oh, I sure I am!" I take a seat on the couch, having a moment to myself as I relish in this relaxing moment.
The noise of the people in the city outside were all gone, as I sat here in front of a burning ember fire - heating up my heart, just like Ray does. Just one burning question though... "So...Tell me about this planet." Ray seems like he was expecting that, but something else seemed off with him as I asked that question. "What's up?" I say. His eyes avert back to me, their sadness of them gone in a flash of a second. "I'll need to explain..."

He was quite surprised when I mentioned that us humans back on Earth are curious about other life out there. Although Esix has far more technological advances than we've ever seen; that much is obvious.
"It all started with the discovery of Aurite," Ray told me. It was a rock which miners found while searching for materials in the ground to expand their country. "We then learned that it had a magical form, and was within our hearts. It made up our soul and existence," he continued. It was explained to me that the nature of souls in Esix is that they do not die. They are everlasting. When the physical embodiment of a soul, known as an person - on Earth, but on Esix the people here are anthropomorphic which are commonly known as Fumans.
The terms were familiar to me, as I explained to Ray: "Hah! That's pretty cool. Back on Earth we thought of a anthropomorphic character as a furry. Sadly, they weren't actually real. But here they are." Ray regarded me with a smile, "Yeah, I think its basically because of the slight chance in evolution here we, the fumans, are slightly different to you." He was surprised that Esix had so much in common with Earth. I wanted to explain to him so much more, but he had to go. "I'll be right back, Harry. I've just forgotten a few things I need to pick up at the market." With that, he walked out of the living room and I heard the front door shut in a couple of seconds - the closure of it made me seem like I was well and truly alone with nobody but Ray to depend on. But I had to take advantage of that, I as stood back up and decided to search around his cottage for purely being bored and nothing else to do.

Getting up out of that comfortable couch was hard, but what else was there to do? There were no televisions or any forms of entertainment nearby and I assume Ray just keeps himself occupied with his research up in his lab. I crept up the stairs, and the occasional creak from the stairs which directed me into a room that was composed of only one double bed and an end table next to it. Looking to my left, I saw a chest of drawers which seemed to be overflowing from paper... Wonder what that is? I walked over to the bed, and had a feel of the sheets. Hmm, just felt like the one I slept in last night. I guess Ray does live in a life of luxury, he probably does get paid a decent amount - even that might be an understatement considering how much responsibility he has on his paws.
I reached my hand over to the end table, and noticed that there was a notebook on it. Taking the notebook, I opened it and was welcomed to the title of: "LAB EXPERIMENTS." Well that doesn't sound dark or dramatic at all. I turned the page but it was jammed. Eugh, the pages aren't turning. I should've known. It seemed like the whole book was giving off a magical aura in my hands and I think it would be best if I return it to back where it belongs. I could hear Ray's tender footsteps outside, edging closer to the entrance of the cottage. Knowing this, I shot back downstairs attempting to be as quiet as I could, although the creaking of the steps disproved that.
Just when I was back in the couch, the door opened and Ray fumbled there, carrying quite a few bags. He gave me a expectant look that I instantly reconiged and I offered help to unpack the bags with him.
Minuets later, we were sat back in the sofa, chatting about nothing in particular while eating a healthy meal of salad. Sensing the conversation was about to get dry and the silence settling in, I asked Ray another question (I'm sure he likes it): "So, what... How and why am I here?"
Ray placed his plate on the coffee table in front of us. "Well, you know _how _you get here... Kind of already, do you?" He asked. "Err.. Well I can't remember. Refresh my memory."
"Well you got here because of a strong binding of Aura inside you. That power made you teleport across the Void, the division between worlds, and you ended up here. But you weren't expecting this, correct? That's because..." He stopped suddenly, his words trailing off. I wanted to know more, there must be something bugging him today though. He seemed off earlier. "And...?" I said annoyingly.
"Well, through the order of Auri, the king, I brought you here. We... We, the fumans, want to test on your kind, for science." He explained rather reluctantly.
"There's nothing wrong with that. Besides you're just going by the order of the king, what responsibility do you have?", I said, trying to cheer him up.
"Responsibility is everything. I am responsible for what's happened, the king... He just uses me as a means to get more power. I mustn't repeat it." I was confused. "What? Ray, you're making no sense." Ray let back a choke of tears, "I must go for now. I'm feeling... A little drowsy. Its midday, so there's some time left to explore the town if you like. Ask around for stuff. Get to know people better... I'm... I'm going upstairs for a nap. See you later." Ray suddenly turned round and headed up the stairs, while I was left there in shock. What did I do wrong? There _is _something up with Ray? Whatever it is, I'm sure he's not ready to tell me yet, judging by the reluctancy. Instead, I should ask around town. See what people know. Maybe then they'll be some answers as to what is going to happen to me.
