Broken Pieces

Epilogue One: Alan

By Roofles

One Year Later…

Standing there, Alan looked out over the sea. He closed his eyes, breathing it all in as he held tight onto them, those memories.

“Don’t worry,” the nutty brown furred wolf had said petting the side of Alan’s face. “Once I talk to the Alpha? Then we’ll be free. We’ll be together, forever. I promise, Alan… forever.”

The wind picked up and the smell of salt water filled Alan’s lungs as he stood there over twenty years later from that moment, that promise that had never been kept. There he stood overlooked the ocean waves crashing down below as he clutched tightly to that memory.

“The sky was so blue that day,” Alan would remember. His eyes remained closed, soaking in the warm sunlight above. Opening his arms, he let the breeze wash over him. It carried with a scent, a smell… a musk that he recognized, and the human opened his eyes, turning around to see the one standing there.

“Alan…” There he stood. Over twenty years later since that day they parted, PB. His Peanut Butter. His childhood friend and his high school love.

“You’ll be the jam between my peanut butter.” The wolf had once laughed. So many, many years ago as he held the human close. Nuzzling him, rubbing his muzzle all over him and with it his scent. His musk. Sharing it with him. Covering him in it. It smelled like peanut butter… “You hold me together.”

Alan never thought such silly words could hold so much weight to them.

“You are the jam that holds my bread slices together.” PB had held Alan’s face, looking deep into his eyes. “Without you…” He never finished and only now did Alan understand why.

Growing up, Alan always thought that PB had been his rock. The thing that kept him grounded in life. Helped push him forward to succeed, to live, to plan for and hope for a future… but it wasn’t like that, “Was it?” No, for life could be so cruel that only years later does one get to realize the truth that was always there staring them in the face.

Staring them in the face with warm nutty brown fur and creamy brown eyes. The truth, standing there before him…

“You were never my rock… I was yours…” Alan knew then, in his heart, what those words before meant. “I was your jam that held you together. Without me, you would break apart. Into pieces.” And he looked down at his tightly clenched hand.

It shook. The memories fighting against him.

“We have a want to remember the good over the bad, a possible coping mechanism maybe… or a means of survival? I’m not sure, not anymore. Wanting to remember the good and forget the bad, or, rather… to ignore it.” Alan stared down at his hands.

These memories felt so heavy in his hand. They were once so warm and comforting, not they only weighed him down.

“Others treat me like broken shards of glass. Afraid to touch me or risk getting cut,” the brown wolf took a step closer and Barrett, standing there on Alan’s side, moved to intercept his approach. “Barrett…”

The two wolves growled at each other.

“It’s alright,” Alan told Barrett. Touching the wolf’s arm. Barrett glared at PB. His fur stood up and a low rumble filled his chest. “Barrett,” his name made the wolf’s ears perk, and he looked at the human. “It’s okay. I know you frisked him from head to toe already,” Alan chuckled. “You’ll be right here the entire time. I promise,” and Alan was the one to keep his promises. “Alright? You aren’t leaving my side again…”

“Yes, Alpha-mate.” Barrett nodded towards him, glancing over at PB. Refusing to take his eyes off the other wolf until Alan reached up. Barret flinched at his touch, at how those fingers pet over the side of his face and drew Barrett closer to give him a kiss to his whiskered muzzle, a nuzzle and a forehead bump before letting him go.

“Thank you, Barrett.” Alan whispered the words. Even if the others there could hear, they were words only for him and Barrett’s tail twitched but never wagged.

For after that day, his mistake, Barrett did not let his guard down around others outside those within the inner circle. And, even then, Barrett was still on guard. Only the nights that it was him and Alan alone, could the wolf finally relax.

“Yes… Alan.” Barrett bumped his forehead against the human before standing upright. Fixing his suit and tie, Barret shot PB another warning look. Daring the wolf to try something.

Everyone there knew that if PB so much as stuck a toe out of line, Barrett would throw him over this cliffside.

“See. Even he does.” PB chuckled lightly and shook his head. He had grown this past year. His body had filled out more and didn’t look like rags of pelts of fur hanging off boney limps. PB wasn’t malnourished anymore.

PB had gained weight and that was just the start. His fur was coming in better, and it looked softer, more luscious than it had ever before as if he’d finally begun to use product with it. The ratty parts were gone, and the missing clumps of fur had regrown. He looked happier than Alan had seen him in years.

If tired…

PB looked so tired as he looked out over the sea and the two stood above it. Watching the sun set in the distance, listening to the sound of the crashing waves below. It was a beautiful if lonely sight. Seeing the sun set beyond the horizon by itself.

For, though neither said a word, they both knew this was it.

The final time they would ever speak to one another. Maybe they would text or share short phone calls in the years to come. It would be empty air between them when or if they did. Both knew that those would be done out of courtesy for the other, rather than a want or need to do so.

For both of them, Alan and PB, needed to move on from the past that had kept them from their future.

One already had as PB glanced down at it. The dark metal steel ring around Alan’s finger was black as night and stood out on his pale fingers.

“Can’t believe he finally proposed?” PB said, ear flicked as he looked away from the wedding band. “Never thought he’d have the balls to do so…”

“You know how he has.” Alan chuckled softly, giving PB a brief look. “You finally got prosthetics…” Alan reached up as if to touch one of the fake points that PB had attached to the ears he had lost. Alan’s fingers hesitated and he never did.

Alan never did touch those prosthetics that PB, for reasons a human could never understand, had refused to get until now. Until after he was forced to go to rehab and endure months of detox. Going through numerous rehabilitation programs to get over the addiction he’d suffered from. Months of vomiting in a dirty toilet, only to be splashed awake with cold water the next morning and dragged to counseling.

Reese had made sure of that. Paying for it all with strict supervision that PB would get “better.”

Nearby, Gristle stood there watching the two.

Ordered by his new Alpha to keep an eye on PB and to, “this time,” not let him fall off the wagon or, rather, relapse. Or else. There would be no third chances after this. This was it. This was as far as Reese kindness and mercy would give them. For both of them. Reese had made that clear after beating it into both of them one year prior.

After Reese found out what Gristle had tried to do, it was another bloodbath. Reese letting loose in front of them all. A reminder to everyone there that there was one rule in this pack. Above everything else. Reese had thought he had made that very clear after Pike… after the wolf, egged on by others, tried to get Alan to leave…

You do not touch the Alpha-mate. Or else the Alpha will bury you.

“Right now,” Reese had snarled into Gristle’s face. His fingers curling around his uncle’s neck. Pulling him up close so he could smell what Reese had for breakfast that morning. “Right now? It is not my kindness or mercy that spares you, Uncle. It is because my mate has asked of me, not to.” Reese threw Gristle down in front of PB. “Alan,” Reese adjusted his suit, wiping the blood off the front. He’d need to take it to the cleaners after cleaning up this mess. “Alan has asked me to show some… leniency for those under the effect of Primal. I care not if you were drugged or high or drunk… touch my mate, and you will pay.”

No one there, all the wolves gathered, outside Barrett who had taken Alan out that evening, were there to witness the showcase. Reese looked so much like his father in that moment. Standing there in front of them, above them. Looking down on everyone else as he kept this pack together.

“It is thanks to my mate’s… benevolence, that I spare you today.” Reese crouched down in front of Gristle as the older wolf forced his aching body to sit up. Tilting his head, Reese looked at him. “And, of course, to you. Uncle. For helping me back then, like you’ve helped so many others.” Reese eyes moved from one wolf to the next.

PB flinched back as those icy blues turned on him. The wolf lowered his head in front of his new Alpha.

“Not that I’ll ever understand the length you went to for… them.” Reese stood back up. With a lift of his right hand, another wolf stepped up. “Jojo. Make sure to secure a safehouse for Gristle and PB. Keep tabs on them. Twenty-four seven. For their safety,” Reese snorted, turning away. “I have a wedding to plan for. I don’t have time to deal with these rats.”

“Heh,” Gristle coughed as he was forced to his feet by two wolves. “You sound just like your father.”

“My father was an idiot, a fool and held lofty, speciest ideals for this pack, at best…” Reese stripped the gloves off his hand and tossed them aside where another wolf collected them to be disposed of. To remove the evidence of anything that happened here this morning. Reese rolled one sleeve down, then the other. “Father ruled by fear. I have not. Eventually, you overcome your fear and you will bite the one that feeds you…” Reese turned to look at his uncle. “I have a future planned out for all of us. If you wish to follow? So be it? If not… well, you, uncle, don’t have much of a choice. Father never had a line that he wouldn’t cross. I do, so, unless you want to keep your tongue, you will hold it in that short snout of yours, for your own good. And clean up,” Reese snarled. “You look… terrible. I refuse to let my future husband see my family looking like this.”

With that, Reese left them behind as the other wolves did as they were ordered. Stripping the two down, hosing them off and cleaning them up. Making sure that a certain someone, a line drawn in the ground, was never crossed. All so that they could be left in the dark about what Reese did behind closed doors.

For they all knew that Reese would lead them, The Elysium Pack, to a brighter future… So long as there remained one person by his side, keeping Reese in check.

“Wolf Street has really grown over the past year.” PB brought up, talking about things without daring to touch on anything too sensitive. Barrett would report back whatever he said or did today to Reese.

Alan groaned, shaking his head. “I hate that name! I can’t believe everyone calls it that. It’s not even pack territory. Or clever! It’s Wolf Street… but it’s more than one street now!” Alan laughed then, smiling about it with a shake of his head. “It’s ridiculous, really…”

“You seem happy.” PB’s faux ear twitched and his fake tail lifted up. All the things he hadn’t been able to show, the bright happy expressions he’d kept locked away inside… finally seemed to be breaking through. Alan smiled at that but didn’t comment on them.

It was still a sensitive subject. One neither of the two wanted to talk about any more than they already had. They had talked about that enough for two lifetimes.

“I have my blue days still,” Alan shrugged. Barrett shifted at his side, and Alan reached over to reassure the wolf. “It’s fine, really. We all have our good days… and bad ones.” Alan grew silent then, looking out over the sea. “We finally got to see the sea, huh, PB? It feels like ages since we last talked about seeing it.”

“I’ve seen the sea before.” PB snorted, shaking his head. “Alan, I’m older than you are. I’m almost forty now!”

“Forty,” Alan gave a sad smile at that. “Where does the time go…? I still remember…” But Alan couldn’t finish that sentence. Not wanting to remember the bright-eyed puppy dog he had befriended in kindergarten. A puppy dog that had grown up into a wolf and changed his life forever. “We finally got to see the sea together.” Alan said instead, looking over at PB with a sad smile.

“Huh, I guess you are right. We never did get to see the sea back then.” PB scratched his chin with a fake claw before glancing back.

There, on the cliffside, was a lighthouse. It had been decorated from head to toe for the wedding. Tables were still strewn about the yard. The chairs and tables still being cleaned up as drinks were served and the buffet was torn into and apart, leaving little left for the seagulls to pick at.

Rows of flowers were lined up on either side of a red carpet that had been rolled out for the two to walk down. The entire event had been “invite only” and wolves were stationed around the area keeping an eye on things, even now.

Otherwise, it was a nice event.

The dog’s from the old dog house had been invited to join them, included in the celebrations. As well as several others Alan had never met before showing up. There was Jasper from the cabin Reese owned and then, of course, there from the lighthouse such as Tanner and Ralph who had finally moved in with his boyfriend. A hilarious sight still for the human as Tanner chased after Ralph half the wedding even before he began to drink.

Then there were those from down south, in Texas. Redd the Mexican wolf and the golden jackal dubbed “Jack.” They kept to themselves, off to the side and everyone knew not to bother them. There were plenty of groups like that. All divided from each other, separated by invisible barriers, and yet brought here together to celebrate this union.

Dogs, wolves, jackals, and more… canines brought together with three humans tossed into the mix this day. Togo had to leave early to take Charles home. Alan was still glad they were able to show up. He planned to do a lot more with the dogs now that several of whom were going to move back into the outskirts of Wolf Street.

Muffin was the first to move back. Showing up with a black eye, neither of the two asked about it as Alan led him inside to get treated. He, like so many others, would have rent free homes until they could get back on their feet. Reese providing them with a safe place to stay to recover.

“We all fall down sometimes. We just need a helpful hand to get us back on our feet.” Reese had said, mimicking Alan’s words back to the dogs. Their jaws had dropped at the sentimental remark, several still unable to see Reese past the Alpha he had become.

“Free food and board. Stop bitching.” Clem had thankfully been there to smack some sense into their heads and lead them to their new homes.

Alan’s new-found family were growing once more, and it was nice. Where others might leave, there were still those who could fill the void left behind. New friends, old acquaintances… left kept moving and changing, no matter how much you stood still.

Alan had felt touched by it and made sure at least to talk to everyone once while they were here for the wedding… that was why he was here now, looking over the ocean. Standing next to the person he hadn’t been able to exchange two words with all evening.

PB had been separated from the event. It seemed fitting in a way. PB had always been there, on the outside looking in. It had been Alan first that had talked to him. Alan had always been the one to break through those walls. To offer him the olive branch he so desperately needed.

PB’s entire life had felt like a battle and all he wanted, or needed, was someone to tell him it was okay to stop.

The brown furred wolf continued to look forward. Towards the horizon, wondering what laid beyond.

“What’s your plan going from here…? Are you, uh, going to track Danny down?” Alan asked, wondering if PB would ever look for that human… where he didn’t look for Alan.

PB’s ear twitched and he looked over at him, as if understanding why Alan asked such a thing.

“No.” PB said with a soft smile. “Therapy does wonders for a man. Sometimes…” He chuckled, shaking his head. “They helped me realize that ever since the start, Danny was never but a replacement for… you.” PB shuddered after saying the word as if this was the most challenging thing in the world to admit. “Sorry,” he said in no more than a whisper that was carried away by the wind.

“For?” Alan asked. There was a lot of things he was sorry for as well. It was good to clarify what exactly it was about.

“For… not finding you sooner.” PB said but Alan snorted.

“PB. You didn’t find me,” Alan rolled his eyes at that unable to let such a lie go. “Hell, I searched for you! But never found you… it was Reese who found you. Not me. You didn’t find me, he found you… for me.”

“Yes,” PB grumbled then with a frown. “He is very good at finding people who try to run.”

“Why do you think I never tried to run from him?” Alan teased and PB let out a soft whine, looking away. “PB…”

“No, no you’re right. I didn’t want to believe it. I still don’t! But, seeing you there… seeing the way he looks at you during the ceremony? I… Heh, I never stood a chance, did I? Not in the end. Not even if everything had worked out,” PB sighed looking up towards the heavens above. “Even if everything had fallen into place… I could never look at you the way Reese does.”

“Oh… kay?” Alan was a bit confused, and the wolf tilted his head towards him. PB snorted and his faux tail wagged.

“You know us wolves have our own myths right? Stories and legends of old? There was one that always stood out to me.” PB reminisced. “Wolves mate for life.”

“Is that the myth?” Alan had to tease him for that, as if PB was waiting to tell Alan that wasn’t true. He didn’t need to; Alan already knew that PB had moved on from him… in that way. Maybe not his dependence on the human but the love aspect PB had.

Maybe a long time ago… if he ever truly did love Alan instead of just using the human as an excuse, a crutch, a means to get away from his pack…

“Not that, dork.” PB snorted and he smiled then. His voice sounded so much better. He looked so much better. All Alan had to do was… give him space. To keep his distance and the wolf could begin to heal it seemed. “Wolves mate for life and if their mate dies? The other wolf, their partner? Will follow after them soon… because… because that wolf?” PB cursed, tearing up a bit. “Fuck why is this so hard to explain? Because that wolf would never want to live a single day without their mate… and would chase them into the grave and beyond…”

PB looked up past Alan’s shoulder and Alan turned to see Reese standing there several feet away. As he used to. Standing there as a dark shadow, waiting for Alan who had come to see PB back then... Reese looked so nice in the white tuxedo he had somehow managed not to get his black fur all over. Alan could only wonder how that was possible as he turned to move towards Reese as if being silently called by him.

Alan stopped, looking at PB.

“Go.” PB said. “I need to go take my meds anyways.” The wolf shrugged. “You know how it is. Getting old sucks.”

“It does.” Alan agreed. He hesitated, looked at Reese once more before turned and gave PB a strong hug.

PB was taken by surprise, and he lifted his arms up, not wanting the others to think he was trying anything. Reese gave a single nod and PB returned the hug.

“Don’t be a stranger,” Alan said but knew that PB would always be one to him.

“I won’t,” PB lied. Wanting their ending to go on a happy note. Even if it was a lie.

“Take care,” Alan pulled away, wiping his face off and letting out a shaky breath. “Fuck. This day has got me all emotional.”

Alan took a step back. Then another, before turning. A strong breeze blew and Alan covered his face and, in doing so, felt his hand relax. His fingers opened and everything he was carrying was swept away by that wind.

Carried away with it, over the cliffside, towards the shores below and across the ocean. Beyond the horizon. His hopes and dreams of a future that could never be. Of a wolf Alan had once loved and now… a burden that lifted off him, feeling lighter than air as he walked to join Reese.

“Of course,” PB smiled as the human gave him one last wave and ran towards Reese. The wolf was already opening his jacket, using it as a wind breaker for the human who teased him about it.

Not once did Alan look back after that. After meeting up with his wolf, after Barrett followed after them, not once did Alan look back at the nutty brown furred wolf standing there watching him go. Again. Watching as Reese and his crew moving back to finish up the night leaving PB standing there by the cliffside.

All alone.

“Heh, seems fitting, if cruel… So very, very cruel.” PB said as he looked down at his hand as if expecting someone to take it. To help him. To be his crutch again…

“Well, never thought that’d happen.” Gristle limped over to join PB. He was always an older wolf, but he looked as if he’d aged ten years in the past one. His gray fur was beginning to turn white, and his eyes had lost all their luster.

PB took hold of Gristle hands, despite his bitching, and helped him back towards the car. He was now the one to take care of his uncle, who had always taken care of him.

“Yeah… Me either.” PB stopped though as he looked back at the way they had gone.

On the breeze, he could smell a familiar scent. But, just like back then, PB did not chase after it. Standing there as the scent blew past him with another, flowing together on the wind.

“I could never be that for you Alan… if you died? I’d still go on living. But Reese? Reese couldn’t imagine going a single day without you in it…” PB felt the tears burn in his eyes as he let out a shaky breath. “I’m sorry, Alan… for all my lies and empty promises. I’m sorry for… everything.”

PB finally managed to say, shaking as he did so. Unable to tell the human but hoping, somehow, that his voice might find him. Not that Alan needed to hear those words.

The human that had once been his, didn’t need to hear those words any longer.

“PB!” That voice calling for him. “Peanut Butter!” His voice. “Hey, we’ll be friends forever right?”

“Forever and ever… I promise.” PB had lied.

“Really?” Alan had said lying there out in the field, their field.

“Yeah.” PB lied and lied and lied. Over and over again… Telling himself that it was true. That he could make those words true if he believed in them hard enough, if he said them enough, if only PB had just…

But PB never had. The wolf never had that look that Reese had looking at the human. A look filled with so much trust, so much care that even if Alan was made of broken glass the wolf would reach out to touch him. Even if he got cut, even if he got burned… Reese would prefer that pain over ever letting him go.

“Fuck,” PB sighed, shaking his head. “I hate weddings… Gets me way too emotional.” And he packed up his things as Gristle bitched from the front seat. “Yes, uncle. Yes, yes. I understand. Yes, we’ll stop for something sweet to drink. Promise.”

And this time, PB could keep a promise as he pulled out of the area and headed back towards the small beach town they lived at. Close enough for Reese to keep an eye on him, but far enough that PB would never be tempted to go see Alan.

Or his pups.

PB struggled to take care of himself, let alone another life. At least with Gristle? The old wolf already had one foot in the grave, and he chuckled at that, rolling down the window and let the ocean breeze caring the scent away so that he wouldn’t have to smell it any longer.

He felt the wind kiss his cheeks, run through his fur like fingers and let it all go.

“Alan.” PB said as he closed his eyes, driving down the road.

No matter how many years would pass by and no matter how hard PB tried… the wolf would never be able to forget the human. Or his scent. For every time the breeze blew, he would sniff at it. Waiting to smell him once more on it…

“Goodbye…”

Back at the wedding party, as Alan refused to be called a bride and called everything instead wedding, the wolves were cleaning up the mess. Tables were turned over, chairs knocked down as several got into a fight over another member. Trying to impress them as Alan rolled his eyes on the sidelines.

Weddings had a funny way of bringing things out within people. Wolves that hadn’t had the courage before, now were overflowing with it as the fists flew in the air.

“Drunk?” Alan asked and Barrett glanced over.

“No, just idiots.” The wolf said guiding the human back inside the building. It was getting late, and it was best if the Alpha-mate wasn’t out at night outside pack territory.

“Did you drink?” Alan asked Barrett, talking to the wolf as he held Reese’s hand. On his finger wasn’t a black band matching Alan’s, but a golden one. A gold one that could be seen even through his dark obsidian fur.

“No,” Barrett shook his head as his ears remained perked and alert.

“Just in case?” Alan teased.

“Just in case, Alpha-mate.” Barrett nodded with a knowing smirk.

“You need to learn to relax!” Alan nudged his side and didn’t even budge the large wolf. Even though Reese was there, by his side, the human didn’t talk to him. To anyone else, it might’ve looked as if he were ignoring Reese.

But that was far from the truth.

For no one knew the mysterious wolf better than Alan did, who could talk and laugh with the others, keeping Reese nearby. The wolf would add a grunt or a remark here or there but spoke little during the large celebration. Reese didn’t enjoy the crowd and kept to the side, out of the way and let Alan deal with those attending today.

It was exhausting but Alan didn’t complain as he held Reese hand or stayed close enough to feel the wolf’s fur against his arm. Reese would lean closer, sniffing at his hair before pulling back without a word. Some might’ve given the wolf looks, as if afraid he was about to take a bite out of the human.

Alan would just laugh, waving it off and letting Reese do as he pleased.

For no one knew just how much Reese cared and loved him but the human in question who never questioned Reese’s feelings for him. Even if Alan struggled at time or had his off days, Reese never once doubted him. Alan would make sure to return that favor, that trust, for the wolf.

“Alan!” A voice called out and the three stopped in front of the lighthouse door, about to head inside. Alan turned to see the only other human at the party now that Charles was gone.

A strange sight, really. For a human wedding? For Alan to only have one other human there to attend it to the end. He didn’t have family anymore. They were long gone, and Alan had never bothered trying to contact his families family.

For all he needed was his new one.

“Logan!” Alan greeted him with a big hug. “There you are. I didn’t see you during the wedding! Damn, you look fine in that outfit. Can I pick a groomsman suit, or can I pick a groomsman suit?” Alan teased.

“Almost missed you!” Logan laughed as he brushed his long hair out of his face. Even Reese averted his eyes from the gruesome scar on the human’s face. “Sorry, sorry. Got caught up in something else. You know how it is.”

“Heh, yeah I do.” Alan smiled though at the human. Not looking at Logan any different after what had happened to him. Alan had been concerned and cried seeing the bandages over his face but, now, a year later? Logan didn’t want to talk about it and Alan understood.

He’d always be here for Logan if he ever needed a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen but wouldn’t bring up the sore topic anymore than it had. It was the first time Alan had ever seen Logan cry.

Waking up with bandages over his face, Logan had asked for a single person that no one seemed to know who they were and broke down on the spot. Alan comforted him, shooing everyone else out of the room. Barrett stayed but Domino couldn’t handle it, leaving the room to give them all space…

“Just wanted to wish you a congratulatory hug, handshake and whatever else you do at one of these things!” Logan laughed, grinning from ear to ear. His hair hid his scars well and Alan reached a hand up, brushing a strand of it out of his eye and behind his head. “Thanks. Hard to see.”

“Should get a haircut.” Alan said and even Barrett shifted at that.

“I should,” Logan just smiled though with a full body shrug. “It cost so much these days! I thought coffee was expensive! Haircuts? Another story.”

“Try a fur cut.” Alan agreed with a laugh, “that’s why I give Reese his,” and the two stood there in silence for a brief passing moment as they let it all sink in. “Are you doing okay…?” Alan asked in a low voice that only the wolves around them could hear outside Logan.

“It’s your wedding day. The bride does not worry about others.” Logan reminded him.

“I am not a bride,” Alan glared at the man. “Don’t make me get Reese to beat you up.”

“I’d do it. Happily.” Reese added in with a toothy, fanged smile. Always there, as Alan’s shadow.

“Oh, shut up both of you.” Logan just said, yet still took a small step back. “I’m fine, Alan.” He gave the human a wink, shooting finger guns at Barrett and then just… gave Reese a single nod. “I’m heading out. Wanted to say my goodbyes before you got plowed into the bed and double knotted like a pig roast.”

“L-Logan!” Alan blushed brightly and Reese was the one to snort with laughter.

“He isn’t wrong,” Reese added in. “It is said the best time to try for pups is during the honeymoon phase.”

“We already have pups!” Alan reminded the wolf as he bickered with Reese one-sidedly, the wolf just listening intently as he went on.

While they didn’t like to talk about it openly, the two had adopted PB’s pups as their own. They were busy with Salt and Pepper in the play pen area that they set up. A massive open space for all the pups to run around in and have those watching throw toes for them to chase and wrestle over.

Talking to Salt and Pepper had been awkward and the trio had roughly agreed to pretend that night at The Menagerie never happened. Salt and Pepper would continue to be innocent, naïve wolves and Alan would teach them how to keep up the appearance for the future. Helping them blend into society, as he helped Reese do the same.

“Okay, okay. Sorry for bringing it! Even though I’m not wrong.” Logan turned to go.

“Make sure to say goodbye to Domino.” Reese said without even looking at Logan. The human froze for a split second at that, feeling a shiver run down his spine. Reese had said it so casually in front of Alan the other human would’ve never guessed Reese had meant it as a warning. That if Logan didn’t say goodbye to him, the two of them were going to have words about it after.

“Right, right.” Logan nodded before jogging off to find the wolf.

“Send me a postcard when you get there!” Alan called after Logan with a laugh, waving as he watched him go. Only turning towards Reese after Logan vanished into the crowd, wondering if he’d ever see that man again…

“Shall we?” Reese said but it was Barrett who opened the door for them. “The entire place is securely locked down and no one is allowed inside for the night. It is our new home away from home.”

“You bought me a lighthouse?” Alan nudged Reese’s side with a playful laugh. “What next, a yacht?”

“If you like.” Reese just smiled, tail wagging once as he let Alan go first.

“What about the others living here?” Alan asked, worried they were just kicked out.

“Who?” Reese said but had to force a smile on his face to let Alan know he was just teasing. “They of course can continue to live here rent free. Just that when we come to visit, they need to understand and respect our privacy during our stay.”

“Well, aren’t you the kindest,” Alan pushed his side with a laugh as the door shut behind them. “Uh, Barrett?” He asked the wolf standing there nearby. “Why are you on this side of the door?” He eyed Reese nervously.

Things had been going so smooth in The Pack since they returned last year. Everyone was getting along, the dogs were moving back in, everyone agreed to refuse to talk about that night one year ago… Alan was waiting for the other shoe to drop, and worried Barrett had overstepped their boundaries.

“I am to follow the Alpha-mate,” Barrett nodded to him, refusing to look at either of them as he stood there with a bowed head.

“Ignore him.” Reese said as he took Alan’s hand in his own and guided him down the tight shotgun style hallway and towards the back room. “Think of him as nothing more than your shadow from now on.”

“Reese…” Alan gave him a look.

“It’s an agreement we settled on,” Reese glanced back at Barrett before looking at Alan. “From now on, no matter what you do or where you go..? Barrett will be with you. If I am there and especially when I’m not. He is to never leave your side again…”

“I doubt I have a say in this.” Reese just gave him a look. “Okay, well then… What does Barrett have to say about this?” Alan asked as he looked at the other wolf, waiting for Barrett to butt in and say something on his behalf. Barrett didn’t. He just followed at a respectful distance behind the two.

“There are certain things, Alan… that I can never give you…” Reese paused in the dining room, looking towards the spiral staircase nearby before back at Alan as he held his hands. The wolf’s ears folded back and then lifted up before splaying out. Worry written over his face as a thousand and one thoughts lurked behind those icy blue eyes. “I’ve learned… that. I am not… normal.” Reese struggled with the words. “There is something… wrong, with me.”

“Reese.” Alan reached up to touch his face with one hand. Reese refused to let go of the other hand as Alan pet over him.

“I have also seen others hurt you and how they have messed up, losing you in the process…” Reese took a heavy breath, thinking of PB. Learning from PB. Using PB to know what to do, what not to do and now, without PB? Reese needed to do this alone... Something he doubted he could do. The only fear he had was the thought of losing Alan. “I can’t. Do those things. Normal things. With you. Without knowing…”

“Reese, what are you getting at?” Alan asked, worried. It was Barrett who stepped in to translate for him.

“Reese will be acting as Alpha from now on. He will be busy with certain things and needs someone he can… trust, to fill in while he is not around. Or, even when he is.” Barrett explained, glancing at Reese. “I agreed to stay with you. It is a full-time position that I hold it in the utmost regard.”

“Alan,” Reese pulled a small box from within his suit and handed it to the human. Alan took it, looking down at it, then up at him. “What I’m asking is if my second, my shadow can become your shadow from now on. To always be there for you, even when I cannot.” Reese nosed down at the box and Alan opened it.

The human just stared at the silver band inside.

“Uh… Please translate for me.” Alan said, looking at Barrett for support.

“It is a wedding band, Alan.” Barrett said without humor. “It is to go with your two. A matching third, to fill in when Reese’s is not there…”

“Yes, but this is our wedding night…” Alan swallowed nervously, looking at Reese who was just watching him carefully.

“Alpha… Reese,” Barrett said instead. “Understands that things are difficult for a human within a wolf pack. He thought it best if you have someone here, from now on, to help you.”

“No, no. I got that. I meant… Reese means to invite you to join us in the wedding bed?” Alan said the words aloud as his brain was refusing to comprehend it all. “This is so freaking weird, right?”

“Whatever you want to be normal, is.” Barrett said as he knelt down on one knee. “I am here for you from now on. At the Alpha’s orders. I am his… I am Reese’s gift to you,” Barrett said referring to himself as an object. A tool for the Alpha to use.

As he was trained for, born as, and a product of the old wolf pack to be.

“What do you want, Barrett?” Alan asked him as Reese hovered over one shoulder. “Ignore him. Tell me what you want…”

“A tool is only kept if it’s useful, Alan…” Barrett bowed his head, ears folding back against his skull. The wolf didn’t whine, he didn’t look upset. He just knelt there, waiting for Alan’s judgement on him. His future and waited for the Alpha-mate’s word to know if it was okay if… he could stay, in more ways than one.

“Barrett...” Alan took a slow breath. “This is some wolf thing, right? That’s why you are here to translate as I’m just some dumb human.” He laughed but the other two didn’t join him. “Barrett…”

“I have grown in this pack since birth, Alan... I have seen it all. Even when a stupid wolf tried to sneak a human into the house,” Barrett snorted with a shake of his head. “I left shortly after to be part of a new… pack. But it was never home. No matter my biological relations to them… You, and my brother, gave me a place to call home again. After Lilith…” Barrett stopped himself, unable to talk about his deceased sister.

“Barrett,” Alan said his name and the wolf looked up at him with pained eyes, holding back the whine threatening to rip out of his chest. For if Barrett whined, he was taught that he’d be punished for showing such weakness. “Please tell me, what you want. Not what Reese or I or… anyone else wants… what do you want from this? From me? From… this pack.”

“I… I…. Please do not kick me out.” Barrett whined then, a horrible sound as if he was afraid to make such a noise. “I will do whatever you ask of me. Whatever you wish. Just, please, do not tell me to go. I cannot be alone again. I cannot… I will be a useful tool. I will protect you and guard you and… I will be useful. I will be useful… I will be useful…”

“Barrett. Even if you don’t or, uh, we don’t do this. You will always be part of our pack… our family.” Alan corrected as the wolf just looked at him. “This doesn’t change anything.”

“It changes everything. For me.” Barrett said. “Let me be Reese’s voice, when he cannot find the words to say them. Let me do the things, Reese does not know how to do. He already knows we’ve been together…” Barrett’s ears folded back as he lowered his head. “And said that I may stay with you, in that way, when he is not around.”

Alan blushed at the words, glancing at Reese who was just watching Barrett the entire time. Mouthing the words, he wasn’t able to say.

“That would mean you would always be the third wheel… you realize that?” Alan swallowed uncomfortably, looking between the two.

“I know.” Barrett took a breath. “And I am happy, to be part of it.” He glanced at Reese then, hesitantly, he added on. “If something happens to Reese… for whatever reason. Accidental or otherwise… I will be there for you.”

Alan looked at Reese who was now staring at him.

“Reese…” Alan said his name.

“Alan,” Reese took a breath. “I…” But he couldn’t find the words, so Barrett spoke up.

“I cannot live without you,” Barrett said, and Alan continued to look at Reese as Barrett translated. “If you were to die, I would soon follow after.” Barrett didn’t add on the chaos and destruction Reese would sow before chasing after him. Burn the entire city to the ground before following after Alan into that early grave. “But if something happens to me, I do not want you to be alone. I know you would never forget me,”

“Reese…” Alan jaw clenched, tearing up. “I don’t want to even think of a day without you in it.”

“I know but I know you. You would continue to live on. Like after PB, you chose to continue to live. I fear that if something happens to me, you would be alone. I am older than you and… This way, my shadow, a part of me, my brother would be there for you. Always…”

Alan looked over at Barrett.

“And you are okay with this fucked up arrangement?” Alan wiped his face off. “Fuck. Was not expecting this on my damn wedding night.”

“It needs to be said.” Barrett glanced at Reese before looking at Alan. “I am a poor substitute for Reese. I could never be Alpha but if something happens to him… to my older brother, I will take on the mantle of Alpha and continue to lead so that you will have a safe place to stay. Salt and Pepper already know about our… arrangement, maybe not the specific details but… they understand. We all do.”

“Barrett. What if you find someone though? Someone to love or…” Alan looked at Reese. “Find your Reese?”

Barrett smiled softly before lowering his muzzle down. “What if I said I already have… would that make it easier?” It was impossible to tell if he were lying or not.

“You…” Alan wasn’t sure what to say to that and left the word hanging in the air.

“If you will have me, Alan. I will be forever by your side.” Barrett solemnly swore. “When I almost died last year? The first person I thought of when I woke up was you. I had too… I needed to find you. To make sure you were okay… I understand why Reese… is with you. Is all I’m trying to say.” He bowed his head. “You can pretend I am not even hear. Ignore me if you choose. Just…” Don’t kick me out.

“Barrett…” Alan looked at Reese for a long moment. “You realize what this all means?”

“Yes.” Reese was able to say, and Alan had to laugh at that.

“I’m marrying an idiot.” Alan kissed Reese on the side of his muzzle before pulling out the silver ring and looking it over. “Black, silver and gold… huh?”

“If you do not like it…” Reese stopped there.

“We can go to any store and buy new ones.” Barrett finished for him.

“Right…” Alan shook his head. “This is so fucking weird and kind of crazy on so many levels. You do realize no one will ever understand this?”

“As long as you do, I will.” Barrett said and motioned with his muzzle at Reese.

“Okay, but let’s not tell anyone about it still.” Alan said as he took Barrett hand and slipped the silver ring on his finger. His hands were large, his knuckles gnarled from the countless times he fought and his paw pads rough and coarse… “It’s a perfect fit.” Alan frowned at the wolf.

Barrett grinned. “Why, it is, isn’t it? Meant to be, huh?” He wagged his tail.

“Shut up.” Alan laughed and hugged Barrett tightly before getting another hug from Reese from behind. He noticed how Reese only hugged Alan, practically ignoring or forgetting Barrett was even there. Treating him like an object, a toy or even possibly a pet… “Is this, uh, common wolf practice?”

“It happens more than you think.” Barrett shrugged after the trio let go of each other and stood back up. “The den mother is never meant to be left alone, for fear of something happening to her and the pups. A brother, an uncle, will be there for her and her… needs.” He added on, even wiggling his eyebrow, and making Alan laugh.

“First I’m a bride now I’m a den mother.” Alan rolled his eyes as Reese headed up the spiral stairs first. With his bulk and size, he needed all the room he could get as the two waited.

“You do have the hips of one.” Barrett teased and Alan elbowed his side.

“Just because you’re part of this, doesn’t mean I’ll let you get away with those kind of snarky remarks.” Alan shot him a look. Barrett just grinned.

“I’m looking forward to our life together then.” Barrett nosed down at him, sniffing at Alan’s hair. “I see you didn’t use deodorant again, sir…”

“Reese doesn’t like it when I do. If I can get away with it,” Alan shrugged and when he did so, Barrett’s nose dipped down under one arm to sniff. “H-hey!”

“I’m just doing as I’m ordered,” Barrett looked up at him. “I am Reese’s and yours shadow. I am to fulfill whatever is missing in this relationship…”

“I thought that was, like, words. Not… this.” Alan blushed as Barrett nosed down further before Alan grabbed hold of the top of his muzzle.

“I will fulfill all the needs that is required of me… sir.” Barrett smirked and his tail wagged once. “Now then,” he stood up before Alan could say a word and easily broke free of Alan’s hold. “Alpha is waiting for you…”

“Right,” Alan turned and was stopped as Barrett stepped in from behind.

“Oh, you misunderstand…” Barrett growled softly against his ear, placing his hands on Alan’s shoulders. “He is waiting for you, but you are far too dressed to head up there like that.” And Barrett skillfully undid the vest of Alan’s suit and pulled it and his coat off with one smooth clean motion, setting them neatly on a hook on the nearby wall.

“Barrett,” Alan blushed as he turned around as the wolf lifted up his shirt the next second.

“Yes?” The wolf leaned in closer, sniffing under his chin. “The Alpha wants to make sure you smell… ready.” The two heard a creak from the wood above as Reese paced. “He is ever so impatient when it comes to being with you…” And Barrett tucked his fingers into the front of Alan’s pants and undid them just as quickly as he had the vest.

Before Alan knew it, Barrett lifted him up off his feet and pulled the pants off with the motion. He set them on the side table before carrying Alan up bridal style upstairs. The human only had his underwear and socks left on.

“I thought the groom was supposed to carry me.” Alan blushed hotly, covering his face.

“Does that make you a bride?” Barrett smiled and Alan blushed even hotter. Barrett bent down to sniff at him. “Ah, a much better scent to have going to your mate’s bedroom. Flustered, hot and bothered… just the way Reese likes you.”

“Like you know what Reese like.” Alan poked Barrett’s chest.

“I know what I need to know,” Barrett growled against the side of his face, nuzzling his muzzle against Alan’s cheek. “Need to know to make you… happy.”

Alan didn’t have a response to that as Barrett climbed up the rest of the stairs and entered the room.

The lights were dimmed and there was a massive bed pushed to one side. It didn’t have a baseboard, just a large mattress that had been laid out over the wood looking like a dog bed covered in sheets. It had black velvet sheets and numerous pillows tucked around the edges. Lights had been strung up overhead, looking like stars as Barrett gently set Alan down in the bed and stepped aside.

“Barrett,” Alan said but felt a hot breath on his back the next second. “Reese.” Alan corrected as he looked back at the wolf. On all fours, Reese walked into the bed behind him, having stood off to the side waiting for his mate to arrive.

The bed sunk in from every one of the obsidian black furred wolf’s steps and his large, fanged snout pushed roughly against Alan’s face, sniffing over him possessively. The wolf growled low, lustful as he rubbed the human’s face with his own. Sharing his scent with his mate.

“Reese… you didn’t take Primal did you?” Alan worried for a second.

“No,” Barrett said somewhere to the side. “I want to be with you unconstrained, even by drugs.” Alan looked towards where the voice was, but a hand caught his chin. “Look at me,” Barrett continued to interpret, and Alan looked at Reese. “There you are. You are so beautiful to me. I don’t want you looking at anyone else but me.”

“Who else could I ever look at?” Alan bumped his nose against the wolf who growled in reply. “The only thing I have left in this world… no. That’s not right,” Alan glanced over at Barrett before correcting himself. “The only thing I need in this world, is you Reese. My entire life, I spent it waiting for you… even if I didn’t realize back then that you were the one I was waiting for. I was. My body knew. I knew what I needed was you, what I was looking for… what I was waiting those twenty years for, was you.”

Tilting his head to one side, Alan held the wolf’s large snout with both hands and guided their lips together. It was a tender, warm kiss as the two kissed deeply. What started sweet and loving, turned heated quickly as Reese slid his thick, wide, and grooved canine tongue deep into Alan’s mouth.

It filled the human’s mouth and Alan gagged slightly, tasting everything Reese had eaten in the past hour as the wolf shared it with him. Thick strands of drool coated Alan’s face as the human closed his eyes and the wolf’s jaws opened wide. Teeth brushed his skin but never broke it as Reese clamped down over Alan’s face, giving him a true wolf’s kiss.

With one hand, Reese guided Alan onto his back. The other was busy rubbing and petting over his chest. Down to his stomach and back up again. Rubbing Alan all over as he touched the human beneath him. Alan was nearly lost underneath Reese’s large body as the wolf scooted closer, further over him and hid him underneath his body.

There was a click to the side and soon enough, music started up. Soft instrumental music without vocals as Alan pulled back, gasping for breath.

“I want to hear the sounds you make,” Barrett said to the side as Alan looked at Reese. “The music is for your pleasure. I remember when you liked to play this while gardening in the back yard.”

Alan had to wonder if Reese wrote these things down for Barrett to read from as he pet over the wolf’s face.

“Reese,” Alan said his name, looking deep into those icy blue eyes. “I love you.”

“I-,” Barrett began but Alan cut in.

“Wait, Barrett. This is something I want… I need to hear from Reese.” Alan looked over at the wolf and gave him a smile. He patted the side next to the bed and Barrett hesitated before coming closer. “Reese,” Alan said his wolf’s name. “Please. With your own words. Tell me what you always wanted to say.”

Reese glanced at Barrett. A mixture of fear and anger at the other wolf but Alan caught his chin, turning it to face back towards him.

“If you need Barrett here… he can hear the words as well.” Alan ran his fingers through Reese’s furry face, down to his thick mane of fur around his neck and took hold of it. Pulling Reese closer. He knew it didn’t hurt the wolf, only encouraged him on. “Tell me and you can do whatever you want to me.”

“Heh,” Reese let out a hot gust of air over Alan’s face.

“Like I couldn’t do that already?” Barrett finished the sentence for him.

“I love you…” Reese stopped there, the words hanging in the air before someone else finished the thought for him.

“More than life.” Barrett said. “More than this pack. More than my family. I love you more than the stars above or this scumhole of a planet we’re all forced to pretend to get along on. You give me a reason to live, to get up every morning and…”

“You make me…” Reese growled low. “Want to be.” He closed his eyes, letting out a breath. “Want to be a better person…”

“Reese…” Alan smiled at him with such love in his eyes that even Barrett blushed looking at the two. “I do.” He said it again. Reese looked at him. “I do,” he touched the ring on his hand. “I do. Forever, with you…”

“Forever.” Reese smiled at the word, his tail wagging once. “I never thought of forever. Until I met you.” Reese said the words that Barrett didn’t need to translate for him. “Not until you…” Reese reached down to take hold of the hand with the ring on it. He rubbed at it with two fingers, staring at it. “You…”

“Make me want to have puppies.” Barrett jumped in as need be.

Alan snorted, about to stop Barrett from translating for Reese but the other wolf went on.

“I never wanted pups before I met you. I feared what they would be like. What they would become… like me. With you? I feel as if we did have another… me, you would take care of and love them so much that they wouldn’t turn out as…” Barrett frowned unsure if he wanted to call his Alpha that.

“Broken. As me.” Reese just finished for him as he looked at his mate. “Barrett,” he growled the other wolf’s name out.

“Yes?” Barrett sat up straight and stiff. Waiting to be told to step out of the room for them to finish.

“Strip.” Reese didn’t even look at him. “Alan is uncomfortable with you clothed.”

“He is?” Barrett wasn’t expecting that, glancing over at the human.

“Not sure how this, uh, all works but…” Alan looked at Reese and then touched Barrett’s hand. “I think I get where Reese is coming from this. If you are okay with it, of course.” Alan gave Barrett a nod. “You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do with me, Barrett…”

“Of course, Alpha-mate.” Barrett gave a short bow of a nod before undoing his outfit. He stood up, undressing just as quickly before neatly folding the clothes and setting them safely to the side. He walked back over, crouching down and looked at Alan. “I never got the pleasure of you sniffing me.” He said.

Reese continued to watch Alan.

“Reese…?” Alan asked.

“Go ahead. Think of him as nothing more than a rather large toy…” Reese gave him permission, growling as he did so. “I like it when you ask my permission. Even if…”

“You know I would give you the world on the silver platter, if you asked.” Barrett smiled as he finished that. “He isn’t the only one…” Alan looked up at him before down at the hanging orbs swaying back and forth between the wolf’s muscular thighs. “Reese gave me permission as well…” Barrett added in as if that’d help Alan’s decision. “Not that I could compare. Treat me as you would an adult toy. It might make it easier for you.”

It was hard to tell if those were Reese’s words or his.

Alan took a second before leaning forward. He had to get on all fours, lifting his butt up in the air to bending down and smell at the heady scent of Barrett’s crotch. The fur was thick around the plump full sheath and a hot red tip poked from it. It was Barrett’s hanging orbs that had caught the human’s attention and, blushing, Alan leaned down lower to sniff at them.

The human might’ve gotten one sniff before he felt a strong hand grasp hold of his thigh, a clawed fingered thumb pulling his ass cheeks roughly apart, and a hot, saliva coated tongue licking over his tail hole. Alan jumped slightly, letting out a noise he quickly tried to cover with a hand as Barrett chuckled above.

“Don’t stop,” Barrett said, and Alan knew it was Reese’s command, so he did. He nosed closer to the wolf who moved his sack to the side so Alan could put his nose there between it and his thigh. Barrett let go of his sack and watched as the wrecking balls slapped against Alan’s cheek with an audible noise.

They were hot, sweaty, and musky from the long day. Standing around all day, following Alan around… Barrett must’ve been thinking about this all day after discussing it with Reese from how worked up he was getting. Toes curling and splaying out, Barrett rested back, stretching one leg out, and watched Alan as Reese continued to lick and tease the human’s tail hole with his tongue.

The tongue was thick and rough as it licked and slurped and lubed up his hole with sticky, tart drool as the wolf behind him growled low and deep. Reaching between Alan’s legs, Reese took hold of his stiff length and made the human wince when a claw brushed over his sack.

“Careful,” Barrett reminded Reese who growled low at him. “Human’s are soft creatures. Got to treat them carefully…”

“How would you know?” Alan wanted to say but felt Barrett squeeze his thighs around his face to silence him.

“They are soft creatures. Got to treat them carefully, like lambs. Tender and sweet to the taste but one must be careful when doing so.” Barret spoke to Reese as if voicing the other wolf’s thoughts aloud for him. “Lick and pet, stroke, and rub. Never claw or bite.” Reese growled again. “I know you know that! Alpha-mate should know how you feel about it.”

The two argued as Alan was stuck in the middle of them.

“I am not good at this,” Reese snarled low enough that Alan couldn’t understand the wolfish speech. “I am not used to… pleasuring others.”

“Then let me,” Barrett said as he looked into Reese’s eyes. “Let me take the front. You focus on the back,” and Reese snorted at that, a wicked smile spreading over his face as the wolf eased back onto his rear end.

Slipping two hands underneath Alan’s arms, Reese hoisted the human up easily and set Alan on his lap. Alan still had his underwear on as the wolf grinded up against him, letting the human slip easily down his front and onto his lap. Balanced and supported by Reese’s full sheath and thick meaty thighs as the wolf reached down to hold Alan’s legs open; letting them rest on top of his own.

“Alan,” Barrett said as Reese nuzzled the side of the human’s face. “You feel so good against me. I don’t want a sliver of light between us this night.” Barrett felt his dick twitched from the words, from the smell his Alpha was emitting and from the look on Reese’s face.

A look of pure adoration for his mate.

“Barrett will help,” the wolf said as he moved in closer, between their spread legs. Barrett reached a hand forward and carefully rubbed up Alan’s legs. “Sock,” Barrett said before realizing Reese was talking to him.

On command, Barrett moving over to bite the tip of Alan’s sweaty, used sock with his teeth and pull it slowly off his foot. Taking it, he handed it over to the Alpha. Reese just gave him a look before looking back at Alan.

“Yes, Alpha…” Barrett scooted closer before placing it on Reese’s face before getting the other sock. This one, Reese decided to chew on and suckle. Tasting Alan’s sweat and musk on it as his fangs tore the sock into shreds; Barrett nearly losing a finger as Reese’s teeth clamped down on the fabric with a low, hungry growl.

“Barrett,” Alan said his name and the wolf looked at him. “Could you,” Alan blushed not wanting to order him around as Reese was.

“Tell me,” Barrett said but Alan got the distinct impression he was voicing Reese’s thoughts aloud.

“Could you take my underwear off?” The human blushed. “Reese is, uh, refusing to let go.” The human looked down at his thighs that Reese was gripping tightly. The wolf holding Alan as he rocked up against him, slow and steady and Alan felt the tip of Reese’s wolfhood push against the fabric against his rear.

“Yes, Alpha-mate.” Barrett scooted closer and reached over, before hesitating. Looking up at Alan, Barrett scooted closer before bending down. His nostrils flared and he sniffed the human several times, nuzzling and bumping his snout against Alan’s bulge that twitched at the attention it was getting. His leg bumped into Reese’s and the other wolf growled low in warning, “yes, Alpha. I’ll try not to touch you.” Barrett said as he undid Alan’s underwear and carefully pulled it off for him.

Barrett drooled at the sight, nosing forward to sniff and lick teasingly over the human’s groin. The human jumped slightly at the feel and got another pleased growl from behind him.

Alan almost regretted it as the second the fabric was free, he felt Reese’s hot slick length rub up between his cheeks, covering it with sticky musky fluid. Reese didn’t stop. Humping up against him, rubbing his growing length against Alan’s body and even lifting the human up to push it between his legs.

Reese didn’t mind Barrett was there, he barely even acknowledged the other wolf as he slid his length upwards underneath Alan’s, to rub it along with his mate. The slick member coating Alan’s length underside with Reese’s enthusiasm. Reese placing his dick underneath Alan’s and supporting his, just as the wolf was supporting Alan’s weight easily.

Alan reached down to stroke the two of them off together. The human had to use both hands to hold both his and Reese’s fat length. It was hot and steamy, the air smelling of the wolf’s muskiness as Reese humped up into those hands eagerly. It was warm to the touch and reacted every time Alan got a good grip on it, making the wolf squirm and growl above him with immense pleasure that Reese would squeeze and hug Alan closer, nuzzling his full body against the human’s own.

Alan had to bend forward to reach down and feel the swelling knot near the base. Rubbing his fingers over it, he felt Reese twitch and growl in pleasure from his teasing fingers. Alan shuddered at the feel of it, the size of Reese’s knot. He was always nervous about taking it.

“Are you alright, Alan?” Barrett spoke up and Alan jumped, forgetting the wolf was even there.

“I, uh, just… Alpha, I mean Reese is very large. I always forget how… endowed he is.” Alan blushed. “I usually end up using toys before he mounts me. Get my body used to the size before taking him. Otherwise…” The human couldn’t finish it.

“Understood,” Barrett said, but Reese was the one lifting him off his lap the next second. Setting the human down between them before twirling his finger around. “Turn around for me, love.” Alan did. “Now, sniff.” Reese ordered through Barrett for Alan to do so.

Gladly, Alan moved in to sniff at the lounging Alpha wolf’s package on display. Reese continued to idly stroke himself, getting off on watching his mate sniff over his sweaty, musky sack and sheath. The heat and smell of it alone washed over Alan’s face, making the human sweat. Reese licked his lips slowly, as he watched Alan licked up his length and taste the musky pre dribbling from the tip of it. It bobbed and bounce from Alan’s licking and the end squirted another dose that made the shaft glisten in the lights above. Alan fondled Reese’s sack, moving a hand inwards to feel the raw sexual heat of his groin, lower against the wolf taint and feel the sweaty fur between his thighs...

Before he could do anything else, Alan felt a pair of hands grab his ass again.

“B-Barrett!” Alan jumped and Reese chuckled.

“Ignore him,” Barrett said. “Focus only on me, Alan.” The human looked at Reese as he felt the other wolf’s snout spread his cheeks open. Alan gasped loudly, clenching his hands and toes as a hot tongue lapped over his hole.

“It has been a while,” Reese spoke in a low growl. “I should’ve brought some toys with us during our trip… well, that is why I have this one.” Reese flicked his snout at Barrett while still only looking at Alan. “A personal toy, only for your use from now on Alan. With my permission,” Reese growled lustfully, clearly getting off on the idea of Alan begging him even for that.

“S-some toy, does h-he vibrate also?” Alan gasped, groaning low as Barrett continued to eat him out. The human unable to made another snide remark as Barrett’s tongue slipped inside him.

The wolf was not shy, and Alan felt that long, grooved hot tongue of his drool down to lick and tease his sack before slurping back up and slapping against his tail hole. Alan yipped at the feel of it and Reese murred low and deep from the sound the human had made, watching him. Enjoying him as if this were a parlor for someone to strip for you in and Alan was his sexy dancer.

Never once did Reese look at Barrett, only watching the look of pleasure and ecstasy wash over Alan’s face from what he couldn’t give him.

Reese enjoying the show while he lifted up a foot and pressed it against Alan’s face. Rubbing his paw padded toes and feet over the human’s body, stepping on him indirectly as Barrett climbed up over Alan, positioning himself above the human, and mounted him.

Alan entire body stiffened as he felt it. Felt the tip of Barrett’s red hot cock press against his warm tail hole and felt it spread as the wolf above him growled out, pushing several thick inches into the human. It was so warm and slick, and Alan couldn’t help the moan that escaped him. Right into Reese’s paw padded foot over his face.

It was hot and musky like Reese was. They smelled. All of Reese’s toes smelled of him and Alan couldn’t think of anyone else, even as Barrett slid further inside of him. The smell of Reese’s body was overpowering, and Alan was lost in it.

Thinking of him. Of his wolf. Of the night they met. How dark it was, the kiss they shared and of the feel of holding his hand… of his Reese as the wolf continued to pet over his face with that paw. Coating it in his smell.

Alan was panting, groaning and his lips opened to make another sound before Reese stuck a toe in it. With a low, pleased growl Reese watched Alan suck and lick and taste his paws even more. Neither of the two addressed the third member as Barrett began humping Alan with quick, short thrusts.

“Ah,” Alan made a noise and Reese removed his paw. Wanting to see the look on the human’s face as a thick line of pre was coaxed out of his length, drooling down as Barrett reached a hand around to stroke him off. Using Alan’s pre to lube up his paw padded hand before rubbing it over Alan’s length several times. Stroking him off in matching tandem with the wolf on top of him.

Reese took hold of Alan’s chin with a hand, guiding the human’s lips upwards as he kissed him there, between his legs, on their shared dog bed as Barrett rutted into the human’s body from behind.

Barret was as thick as Alan remembered him being. His length was red and hot to the touch, warming his insides. Alan was so tight at first but the warmth of Barrett’s length and the fluid leaking out of him, into Alan, lubed up the human’s insides quickly. Easing the passage for more of his body to enter. Helping the transition as Barrett held Alan’s thighs and began humping into his rear faster now, letting Alan’s slick member go.

“Ah, fuck. Holy hell, Reese!” Alan panted and begged and huffed and groaned as his wolf kissed him deeply, never letting Alan look back at the other man behind him.

“Focus only, huff, on me.” Barrett growled out. “On Reese. On Alpha!” Barrett added on as he pressed into Alan’s warm body. The human was such a tight fit, but Barrett loved that. It had been ages since he last touched himself, waiting for these brief fleeting moments he got a taste what Reese could have whenever he wanted. “I’m gonna… Alan…” Barrett gritted his teeth.

“Don’t knot. Only lube him, for me.” Reese warned and the command seemed to push Barrett over the edge as the other wolf came inside Alan.

Barrett pulled Alan closer, slamming his hips into him before stopping right where his knot met and spread those thick cheeks of the human. Barrett growled out, being teased like this, but also loved it. Loved being ordered and commanded and used as a service top for Alan as his length pumped and spurted inside the human’s body. Feeling his knot bulge and swell as it rested against the human’s tight hole. Trying to force it in only after it was impossible to do so. Feeling as Alan squirmed at his attempts with amused pleasure.

Hefty, thick wolf cream oozed from Alan’s tail hole as Barrett was rudely shoved off him by one of Reese’s paws. The other wolf laid on his back, panting loudly with his tongue out as Reese scooped up his mate into his arms and brought Alan back to his chest.

“Reese,” Alan was flushed in the face, his body was still sore from being topped by one wolf but knew it would be nothing compared to what Reese planned to do to him. “It’s… nice of you to bring lube,” the human licked his dry lips, panting hotly against the wolf’s body.

He could smell Reese. Barrett had just been inside him, but all Alan could think of was Reese. That smell of him, it was all the memories he wanted to remember as he clung to Reese’s body. The wolf that had been his rock in all this.

Reese refused to ease up as he lowered Alan back down on his groin, facing towards him this time. His hands ran up and down the human’s bare-naked sides, nails trailing in their wake. Scratching the human’s skin. Never once did Reese draw blood as he tipped Alan’s head up, kissing him deeply before reaching down and spreading his ass with his clawed fingers.

Reese’s length pressed against his used, wet, sticky hole and the wolf growled low and deep from the feel of it against his sensitive tip. The sensation of it as the tip slipped easily inside, spreading his hole for his head to enter. He felt Alan squeeze in resistance and growled low and deep against the side of the human’s face.

“Alan,” Reese growled and left it at that as Barrett continued to recover behind them.

Reese didn’t need words right now as he let his actions speak for him. Once he got the angle down, it was only a matter of time as the wolf slipped another two inches inside the human. Reese could feel his hot insides squeezing around his girth and murred deeper at that. Loving the way Alan fit around his body, how even after using his “toy” Alan was still so tight for him. The human was the perfect fit as Reese lifted Alan up before bringing him back down, humping up with the same motion.

Alan was easily supported by Reese’s strong thighs and found them to be the perfect landing as Reese lifted him up and brought him back down, practically bouncing off those thick furry thighs as Reese took him. The wolf’s length grew, slipping further inside him and filling him in ways no other man had ever been able to do so before.

Alan moaned. He cried out and let his sounds fill the voice he lacked, that Reese had taken from him. Instead replacing it with overwhelming pleasure as their bodies became one.

The noises of that alone told Reese just how much Alan was enjoying himself as he slowed his pace, letting Alan feel his knot even before pressing it against his tail hole. The “lube” was enough for Reese to shift and twist Alan onto his knot like a reverse cork and the human was puddy in his hands as he did so.

The way Reese’s length rub and coated his insides with that warm slickness, how Reese always knew where to find and press against his prostate… it was all Alan needed. He wanted to reach down, to finish off with a few good strokes but Reese stopped him. Grabbing his arm with his mouth, the wolf pulled the hand away as he growled playfully at the human.

“Tease me no more, Reese.” Alan laughed though and it was like music to Reese’s ears as the human lifted up onto his knees so he could kiss the wolf on the lips. “Oh, Reese.”

Reese growled in reply.

“I love you,” Alan told him, and the wolf sniffed at his hair, rubbing a hand down his back before lowering Alan back down carefully over his length. Alan felt his knot and knew what Reese wanted to do even without words.

He was not expecting to be flipped onto his back, legs lifted up into the air and for the wolf to mount him on all fours as Reese did. With his weight and gravity assistance, it was no issue for Reese to “pop” his knot right into Alan’s body. Forcing it in and then out, then in again. Faster and faster several times as Reese howled out before pressing his entire lower body down and slide his entire length into Alan’s body. He felt the human twitching, felt his walls spasm and the wolf murred out, tilting his head ever upwards as his back curved in an arc from the tie. The human cried out as it entered, a mixture of pain and pleasure that was soon all pleasure as the knot engorged inside him. Locking them together this night, and in a way, their life together.

It filled him in more ways than one and Alan gasped out as he felt Reese’s heartbeat beating inside him as the wolf took him.

With one of Reese’s hands over his face, Alan panted around the wolf’s fingers as Reese loomed over his body. Hiding the twinkling lights above with his body, shrouding Alan in darkness as the wolf lowered himself over the human’s body. Resting partially on his head and shoulder, Reese wrapped an arm around Alan as he continued to press deeper and deeper inside him. Feeling him in every way possible this night.

Reese liked the way there was resistance when he tried to pull it out. He hadn’t even came yet and the wolf was on top of the moon, wanting to howl from the way this made him feel.

“Oh, Reese.” Alan moaned his name as the wolf’s dick twitched inside his body. “I want to feel you come for me,” he asked, and the wolf gave a low growl.

Instead of increasing his speed or the force he was using, Reese easily lifted up off the ground with one arm. Tied as they were, when Reese moved, Alan was going to followed as Reese stood up. The wolf faced them towards Barrett who had been keeping himself preoccupied.

With one leg up in the air, Barrett was currently licking himself.

“Barrett!” Alan blushed for the wolf who was licking at his tail hole now with that long tongue that had been inside the human’s body.

“Is it time?” Barrett asked, looking at Reese. A single growl was all he got. “Yes, Alpha.” And Barrett moved over towards them, getting up in the bed with the two and turning around.

On all fours, Barrett lowered his upper torso down against the bedding and lifted his rear up into the air. Using a hand, he moved his long tail out of the way and showed his drool covered, dark pucker of a tail hole to Alan who was just gawking at it.

“Uh…” Was all Alan could get out.

“I want to feel you come as I do, Alan” Barrett said, and it took Alan a second to realizing the wolf was translating for his growling mate knotted in his ass. “I want to feel your pleasure with mine.” Barrett wiggled his rear end side to side. “I am not a bottom, but I know you enjoy doing so. Use your new toy to pleasure yourself with me.”

“You want me to… Oh…” Alan covered his mouth with a hand. He didn’t need to move forward as Barrett scooted back and pressed his extremely warm tail hole against Alan’s groin. Alan could feel the raw heat radiating off Barrett’s ass and the wolf just looked back over one shoulder at him, pleased.

“Use me, Alan.” Barrett panted heavily, tongue curling in his maw. “Please your mate.” And, once more, Alan couldn’t tell if Barrett was talking about himself or Reese. Reese seemed to naturally think it was about him and neither of the two were stupid enough to question that as Alan reached forward.

Barrett’s dark brown, almost black fur was thick and plush. There was so much of it as Alan took hold. It was warm and soft and, for a second, Alan was thinking of another brown furred wolf in his life as he touched it. It felt so similar...

The human bent over him, using a hand to position and guide himself against Barrett’s tail hole. An awkward thing to do with Reese knotted in his ass like this. The larger wolf barely moved to help him and seemed to find great amusement watching his mate struggling, tied as they were, to get into position. Alan felt Reese’s dick twitch again and took a moment to adjust as the wolf shifted behind him.

“You know exactly what you are doing,” Alan said, and Reese just huffed a breath without needing a word.

Holding onto Barrett with a hand, Alan pressed his engorged cock head against the tight, hot, drool slathered ring. It gave a second of resistance before Barrett groaned out and his body relaxed, his tail hole easing up and Alan slipped inside the warmth of Barrett’s body. It surrounded Alan’s head and the human shuddered, almost coming on the spot from the feel.

Barrett was so warm; Alan was afraid he’d melt.

He always wondered if Barrett’s body ran warmer than other wolves. Now he was feeling it first hand and loved the sensation as he began pressing forward. Barrett shifted and Alan felt when he did. He felt when Reese did behind him, the three of them together as they slowly, carefully found a pace to hump into one another.

Reese’s powerful thrusts helped Alan plug Barrett’s tight hole. Pushing the smaller male against the larger one beneath him. Assisting Alan in a way, but they all knew that wasn’t Reese’s goal. Sliding all the way down to the hilt, Alan felt the wolf squeeze around his length, that warmth wrapping around him and the heat and musk of Barrett’s sack tickling Alan’s own.

Then Barrett began rocking his hips and those wrecking balls slapped softly against Alan’s nuts, making the human wince slightly before feeling that tingling sensation crawl up and through his body. His ass clenched around Reese and the other wolf murred deeply from the feel of it.

“Holy,” Alan took a slow long breath and as he did, he could smell Barrett’s musk. It was so familiar… almost like… then there was Reese. Reese’s musk overpowered all others, and it brought Alan back to the steamy moment the three of them were sharing together.

Even if Reese didn’t see Barrett as a person, Alan did. He could never not think of Barrett as someone special, not after this past year. He pet over the wolf’s side, sliding deep inside him. Feeling when Barrett pushed back against the human topping him and the two took that moment to share with one another, unspoken words, that they would be there for each other through this all.

To survive The Pack, this life and even to keep Reese in check as the wolf above Alan began to pick up speed.

“Harder,” Barrett moaned. “Come for your Alpha,” he huffed and panted. “Fill,” me, “and let us feel pleasure,” together, “Alan.”

That time Alan knew Barrett was speaking to him as he did.

The warmth of the wolf’s body, the comfort he found within Barrett not just as a friend and a lover, but someone who understood where he was coming from dealing with This Pack, with everything; a person who he could talk to and just… it was all Alan had needed and wanted from them, him…

Him…

Alan couldn’t help the thought that came as he did. The thought of a smiling nutty brown furred wolf, one last time. Waving at him before walking away. Maybe the last lingering memory that his heart refused to let go of until now… until he let himself go.

The hot tears ran down his face as Alan came.

Crying out, Alan came. His sack tightening, his body tense, the heat, and smell of his sweaty skin increased as he cried out as he came hard enough that even Barrett was surprised by the amount.

Alan felt Barrett’s hand brush his own, and the human took it. Holding it tightly as Barrett push back against him. The wolf refusing to let Alan’s hand go, holding onto it and giving the human the support he needed as Alan gasped out. Gasped breathlessly as everything emptied into the wolf that could help him carry the burden with him.

Then there was Reese.

Feeling his mate’s orgasm, the feel of his prostate spasming against his rigid shaft was all Reese had needed, and been holding back for, to explode inside of Alan’s body. Filling him with his warmth and heat and pleasure that pumped out of his body and sack to fill the human up to the point Alan was sure his lower stomach sagged from the weight of the hefty load Reese had deposited in him.

It didn’t stop there. Reese wrapped an arm around the two, not even caring Barrett was part of the mix, as he slammed his hips into Alan’s rear end several times. Forcibly pumping out the last drops of his seed into the human as he roared out.

“Reese,” Alan said his name. “Barrett,” he whispered down to the wolf below him as Reese let out a massive howl of pure pleasure and satisfaction. It shook the room they were in and the rafters of the bunkhouse of the lighthouse.

Alan thought of his mate, his friend and…

And finally, one other wolf that, in that moment, he couldn’t even recall the name of as Alan was roughly pulled back, out of Barrett, and into Reese’s waiting arms.

The largest wolf Alan had ever met, curled up around him like a puppy dog with it’s master. Holding him close, protecting him even now as Reese let Alan listen to the music and sound of his thundering heartbeat as the two stayed knotted to their mate all night long.

Reese kept Barrett away at first with a foot. Pushing him aside like used dirty laundry you might use to wipe up the mess you had just made together. Over time, he relaxed, and Alan was able to coax Barrett back up into the bed. Holding him against his chest as Reese was doing with Alan. Keeping the wolf close to them, letting him share their blanket and be a strange part…

Of their PB and J sandwich…

“Forever.”

The End (Part One)
