#2 of Tales of Azoria

The father of young Azuri, decides to leave for his promotion from Queen Morfurn. Beckar however, is not having it and yells back at him. Would the family ever be the same after this?

In the land of dragons living their lives like any normal society would, one thing was clear to Beckar: She couldn't reason with her husband. No matter what or how she tried to do it, he was too stubborn. A little infant dragon that was only two years old was crying in the corner. Her husband Aphure was yelling at her like a wild bear, roaring and growling at her as he paced around the room. "Why can't I do the one thing important to me?!" He screamed, pushing over several of Beckar's books stacked on a table.

"Oh, and the world revolves around you, huh!?" This had become normal for the household. She knew by now that their neighbors were getting sick and tired of all the commotion. "He's two years old and you just want to walk out on us!" Beckar screamed again at him, nearly pleading for Aphure to stop and stay. Although her tone wasn't entirely lovely to hear, especially in Beckar's own ears. Though, she didn't really know how else to get through Aphure's thick head.

"I'm not walking out! I'm going to be supporting this family with royalty! Isn't that something you would want for our child!?" He pointed toward Azuri Vapor in the corner, keeping his claws up to his ears but watching the scene unfold in front of him.

"It sounds more like a YOU thing." Beckar growled, her claw poking him in the chest. "I thought since I met you that you would love to raise a child, however the only thing I see in you is a waste of space and my time trying to fight with. OUR son deserves better!" Aphure was about to speak, but he closed his mouth as he began rushing toward the front door. Without saying a word, she knew right then and there that he was leaving. "Oh, of course you would!" Beckar yelled as she watched him walk away. "Run away, just like you always do!" Aphure turned and looked back at her with an irritated look on his face.

He wanted to speak back to her, but he couldn't. It was like he had no words to describe his own emotions. It was pretty clear what he wanted to do. He shook his head and walked out of the house, unfolding his wings outwards before starting to fly off. Beckar followed him out the door, and as he flew away she looked up and watched him. "Run, coward! Don't come back, you pathetic runt!" Silence filled the house and the forest around them. She heard shuffles of movement from their neighbors, almost like they were eavesdropping moments prior and were now scurrying inside quickly before Beckar could yell at them.

She took a deep breath and counted to ten, before closing the door. It was completely quiet inside now, with only Azuri's breathing being heard from the corner. It took Beckar several moments to return to reality and stop counting. By then, she rushed over to Azuri's side and pulled him closely up to her. She tried to comfort him by brushing her claws down his back and neck, stroking his fur as he sobbed into her chest. She felt terrible yelling in front of him. She didn't want to, but it was necessary. She wish it didn't have to be this way and that Aphure didn't only care about himself.

She never once thought that Aphure would drastically change over the course of a week. All because the queen of their tribe sent a letter to him personally, requesting him to be a close bodyguard for her. Aphure only questioned himself and pondered if he could, which only led him down an obsessing path, beginning to use excuses as a way of benefiting himself. It only took Beckar two days, before she realized Aphure was losing his marbles. The dragon she thought she loved was no longer with them. Now serving with the queen willingly, sacrificing his love life, to fulfill a stupid job. "It's okay Azuri, everything is alright now." She whispered to him comfortingly and softly, still stroking his back with her claws.

He looked up into his mother's eyes with a worried expression. "Is dad gone forever?" His voice was adorable, but also very depressing to hear from a little dragonet. She shook her head down to him with a disappointed frown.

"I... I don't think he is ever coming back."
