Okay, this is my first story here, sooo it's not going to be perfect!! :) I accept any comments, and help me do better by suggesting things please!!! :D Also, I'm NOT that good at writing at all, so it's not good, hopefully I can get better buuut anyways, here goes ^^

Chapter 1

She kissed him, and he kissed back, which was showing they loved each other, right? Elizabeth put her hand on Jakob's chest to try to tease him, to make him want her, it wasn't working.

He broke the kiss. "Stop." He threw her hand off of him and moved away from her. "Just stop Liz, okay?"

"Why? Are we going out or not?" She said and folded her arms.

"Ugh...yeah...yeah we are, but why do you do that? I hate it." He sighed, a bit confused on what to think. He did love her, why wouldn't he like it when she did that? Wasn't he supposed to?

"Fine, I'll stop. Although I don't know why you wouldn't, every guy I've dated loved it." She looked at him honestly. "Well, Jakey, I gotta go, or my parents are going to be pissed." She sighed, clearly upset to be leaving her boyfriend.

"Okay, see ya Lizzy. I'll text you, okay?" He said it so quietly it was almost a whisper. "I love you."

"Bye Jake. Just don't text me late at night, I hate it when you do that." She wore a fake and weak smile on her face.

"Yeah, bye." After she left, closing his door quietly, he went to his bed and laid on it, his arms behind his head. He stared at the ceiling quite confused, why hadn't she said "I love you" back? Even though she never said it before, and most girls he dated didn't say it to him, it felt weird every time. Something was missing, but what was it?

He heard a knock on his bedroom door that woke him up. He looked dazily at the door to see who it was, the short fur on his head ruffled a bit and only one of his ears up and alert.

It was his mother, she came in and closed the door without a sound and came and pulled a chair from under his desk to the side of his bed. She sat down and looked at him worriedly. "Sweetie? Are you alright?" She said, her voice gentle and sweet.

"Yes mom."He buried his face in his white pillow and groaned, annoyed that she woke him up to ask something so stupid.

"Are you sure, Jakob? Something tells me that you're having trouble with Elizabeth," she looked around his room, not very familiar with it since she was hardly ever in it.

Jakob took his face out of the pillow and looked at her, one of his ears to the side and one up still, his eyes big. "Why would you say that? It's fine mom, don't worry about it."

"I can see it in you Jake, you don't really love her." She turned her head to the side and gave a worried look.

"Of course I do Mom! Why would I go out with her if I wasn't" Anger was growing within him now for her doubting his love, or was that denial?

"The way you look at her, the way she looks at you... Jake... you don't." She looked at the ground now, in deep thought.

"No... why would you say that? How would you know?" He asked. He was used to his mother knowing things, all mothers did, but this surprised him.

"Yes Jakob, you don't. Don't you know that's why you didn't like it when she put her hand on your chest? She told me all about it. Jakob, you ... you're different." She looked at him again, her hazel eyes honest and full of ... dissapointment? Or was that worry?

"What? What are you talking about Mom!?" He asked, eyes wide with denial.

"You'll find out Jake. Just ... be careful out there okay? And ... I'm always here to talk to if you want sweetie," she got up and headed for the door. She started to close it behind here, and stopped at the last second and opened it up and poked her head back at Jakob. "I love you Jake, don't forget that."

"Shut the door mom," he said coldly and looked away. What does she mean? What does she know about me I don't? I know myself better than her... He looked at the ceiling again. I do love Elizabeth, otherwise I wouldn't do what I do for her... but...what do I do for her really? All I do is say "I love you''...Bah, what am i thinking? Of course I love her, I do a lot for her. He dozed off again, but what she said still bothered him-"you're different."

"KATE! Wait for meeee!" Jakob yelled through the hallway, trying to catch up to his best friend-Kate Ladern. She swerved and noticed him, smiling.

"Oh, hey Jake." She waited for him to catch up and then they started walking together. "What'd you want?"

"Well ... nothing really ... I just wanted to walk to class with you, since we both have History next." He smiled back at her, still lightly panting from having to catch up to her.

"Oh, okay then. Hey, do you happen to have a sharpie on ya?" She asked with an eyebrow raised pointing at my books and school stuff.

"Oh... yeah, I think so, let me check," he shuffled through his binder and found a blue sharpie and handed it to her. She took it, un-capped it, and wrote something in the palm of her hand with it.

"Hey, what're you writing Katie?" He looked over to try and see.

"Oh," she quickly hid her hand, "nothing Jake, why? Oh yeah, and he's staring at you again ..." She looked over his shoulder and then started writing again. He looked and not to his surprise was Justin looking at him from behind. Justin quickly glanced away once he saw Jakob noticed him.

"Ugh, what a weirdo, huh? Oh, look, there's Andy!" He said to her, although she wasn't really paying attention since she was still writing on her hand with his sharpie. Jakob poked him in the back gently and couldn't help that his tail lightly started to wag as Andy turned around.

"Oh, what do you want?" He asked, obviously interrupted from talking to his jocky friends.

"Well, I just wanted to say hi, so, hi!" He said energetically, waving a little too frantically with his paw.

"Oh, hi, now leave me alone, okay?" Andy was a senior and probably had more important things to do than to talk to someone like Jakob. Well, he said hi that time! I wonder why I got that weird feeling... He held his stuff with one hand and used the other to clench his stomach.

"Hey, Katie, are you done yet? We're almost to history, it's just up ahead," he looked at her annoyed, and her thin, feline tail wrapped around her leg cutely.

"Yep, here ya go," she handed it back. "Who were you just talking to? And do you have a stomach ache or something?" She looked at him curiously, her cat ears alert and waiting for an answer.

"I was talking to Andy, and no, it just felt weird talking to him, you ever get that feeling?" He looked at her to see if she had, still clenching his stomach through his gray sweater.

"Hm... I'm not sure, well, here we are Jake, get ready for one of the most boring lectures of all time," she stated and they both walked into their history class and took their seats.

"Yes! I get to go home! Not.." Jakob was getting his stuff packed away and talking to Kate, who was waiting by his locker.

"Come on! You're so slow! Can't you go faster? We have almost the same classes and I got done packing like, 10 minutes ago! Ok, not that long, but still, HURRY UP!" She said, starting to tap her foot as she stood there with one of her hands on her hip.

"Hey, I actually have to study for that test tomorrow, my grades aren't that great, you know I barely passed algebra last year? We have a test tomorrow for geometry, I NEED to stu-Ow!" He was interupted by someone bumping into his back. He swerved around to find out who it was and sighed.

"Chris! Why'd you do that?" He asked, clearly annoyed.

"Oh, sorry Jake, didn't see ya there," he turned and poked his head to the side of Jakob to see Kate. "Hey Kate." He waved, then turned his attention back on Jakob.

She waved looking like "Why is this guy talking to me?" and returned to tapping her foot anxiously.

"Just, watch where you're going, Christopher, okay?" Jakob stated and returned to packing his back-pack.

He finished and shut his locker, which revealed Chris still standing there. Just for an instant Jakob truly noticed how innocent Chris' deep green eyes were.

"Hey, sorry I was waiting for you to finish. Anyways, since my parents can't pick me up today and I know you two walk home together, I was wondering if I could come. So, can I?" He asked them, his eyes full of innocence.

"Uh," Jakob looked at Kate who shrugged. "If you really want to, I guess so."

"Really? That's awesome! Well, let's go!" He said, very energetically.

Jakob placed his backpack on the couch and sat down next to it. He grabbed the remote an turned on the T.V.. Not to his surprise, nothing was on. He grabbed his backpack and went upstairs to his room, he had to do something to keep him occupied, he didn't want to think about the little thing that happened, because he knew what it meant. Maybe I was just imagining it? It wasn't really a big deal anyways, I need to stop worrying about it.

He started on his homework when he got a call on his cellphone. "Hello?"

"Uh, hey Jake, this is Chris!"

Oh no, hang up right now! "Uh, I have to go, can't really talk now. Bye"

"WAIT! Wait, wait! I just wanted to say ... I wanted to say that I'm sorry for what I did. It was rather, uh, risky for me to do that and I shouldn't have. Sorry Jake, I won't do it again. Bye, see you tomorrow?" He asked, his voice hopeful.

"Uh, yeah, I have to go to school don't I?"

"Haha, yeah, you're right. See you then."

"Yeah, bye." He hung up, panting lightly. Why did that make me so nervous? It's just Chris... It rang again.

"Hello?"

"Hey Jakob, there's something I need to tell you." Elizabeth!

"LIZ!!! I'm so glad to see yo-"

"Stop talking, I said I have to tell you something," her voice was cold.

"Uh, ok, what's up?" Jakob became uneasy from the tone of her voice and immediately broke out in a cold sweat.

"I know that I was the one who asked you out, and that you've been really kind to me, but..." she trailed off.

"What? You're breaking up with me!?" His voice became high and terrified, he didn't want to lose her, he loved her.

"Um... this is hard for me to do, but yeah Jake, sorry, but I don't think we're right for each other...good night," she then hung up and Jakob was left feeling rather alone.

What did I do wrong? I was trying so hard to make her happy...gosh...what did I do? He laid on his bed and stuffed his face into his pillow, blaming himself, he was upset, and confused. What do I do now? He asked himself, and dozed off once again.
