Ars Technica Digimonae 2: Sperchen sie Deutsch?
#2 of Ars Technica Digimonae
Ezra awoke the next morning with a moderate headache. It probably had something to do with the fact that he had only gotten about two hours of sleep. He made his way to the kitchen to get some tea. Black tea wasn\'t generally...his cup of tea, but he needed more caffeine than he could get out of his usual blend of green and white tea. He turned on the stove and rubbed his eyes sleepily. It was a good thing that it was early summer and classes were out of session where he studied at MIT.
This was too much for him to handle. Not only did Digimon just drop into his life, but he was beginning to find that Digimon attractive, something he just couldn\'t bring himself to tell her about it. She\'d probably give him another one of those \'You\'re my tamer, do whatever you wish\' speeches again, but that would be for all the wrong reasons, and--
\"Good morning, Tamer.\" he dropped the half-made cup of tea onto the ground from the shock, where it broke into a thousand pieces. This time, he only missed a single heartbeat. Still...he was probably going to die at an early age from heart complications. He turned around to see Luna sitting on the counter behind him, her hands resting on the edge and her head slightly to the side.
\"Please don\'t call me that,\" he said exasperatingly, once his body synchronized with itself enough for verbal communication.
\"But you are--\"
\"Your tamer. Yes, I know.\" he shook his head and swept the tea into a trash bag he kept recessed under a cupboard for just this purpose. \"Now that you\'re here, though....what are you planning on doing on a day to day basis? During most of the year, I\'m studying through most of the day--\"
\"If you have something that you wish me to do, I will do it.\" she answered quickly. \"Normally, I would train, but I have no training parter, so--\"
\"I\'m not doing anything right now,\" he said, looking to the left in thought. \"If you think it will help, I will be your sparring partner.\" He grinned, prompting Luna to cock her head almost a straight forty five degrees. Through middle and high school, like so many other nerds, his sole physical activity had consisted of martial arts—in his case, judo and jujitsu. He was full aware that he would be no match for the Digimon whose nearly sole activity was the eradication of other things who also devoted their existence to eradicating them. Still, it would be interesting. And it would give him something to do other than stare at the digivice and his computer.
\"Are you certain that is wise?\"
\"No, but I haven\'t had any fun for a while,\"
\"Very well,\" she said, with what looked like a mischievous smile. Before he had any time to respond, his left arm was locked behind his back, and his right was locked outwards by a purple, gauntleted arm. He hadn\'t even seen her move.
\"It\'s not fair when you can move faster than my eyes can track you,\" he complained jokingly.
\"Now you\'ll have something to work on, then,\" she replied just as jokingly, giving his wrist a small twist. Maybe she was only loose when she was in combat...a few seconds later, she let go of him and moved to the other end of the kitchen, which was about twenty feet across. \"Care to try again? I promise I\'ll move more slowly this time.\" She flashed him the same mischievous smile. God, that was hot...
Shaking off the thought, Ezra braced himself for the next attack with his own smile. he was hoping that she would do the same thing she had before; he just happened to know the perfect counter.
Luna watched, amused, as her tamer moved into a defensive stance. Mother had always told her, her brothers, and her sisters that two Digimon could not truly know each other until they had fought. She didn\'t see anything wrong with applying that to humans, as well. She knelt down quite demonstratively, completely giving away what she was going to do, and jumped at her \'opponent\', aiming to do the exact same thing she had done before—more because she was interested in his reaction than because she was worried about doing something else. She extended her arm outward to wrap around her tamer\'s defensive arm and step around it. There was some resistance in the movement, but she succeeded in the first part. Before she could bring up her arm to perform the second part of the hold, she felt something pressing against the back of her foot.
When she turned her head around to see what he was trying to do, she felt both the grip and the weight of what she was holding on to shift. he had twisted from the inside of her hold to the outside under her arm, which was now situated perfectly on his shoulder.
With a hefty pull, she was pulled across his shoulder. A half-outstretched leg pushed against her stomach caused her to flip mid-throw. She deftly extended her free hand down to land on and catch the ground. The throw ended with his hand still on her wrist, and with herself straight upside-down, balancing on her one free hand. she craned her neck out from under her position and grinned at her tamer.
\"That\'s not fair,\" he complained again.
\"I never said I was going to be fair. I said that I would move more slowly.\" she quipped, completely out of character in the same way that her sleeping position was. After realizing the opportunity he had, Ezra took as brief a survey as he could of her chest without—he hoped—her noticing him. If there was any doubt before as to whether or not she had breasts, there certainly wasn\'t any now. They weren\'t particularly large, but that was what Ezra preferred, so that didn\'t pose a problem.
Hypotheses had been floating around for some time as to that kind of bit about Digimon...anatomy, if it could be called that. The photos of Rika Nonaka\'s Renamon didn\'t bear many distinguishing differences from Luna, with the obvious exception of Luna\'s high height and light blue eye color. They both had the same tufts of fur over their chest, with similar porportions, so it drew that they both had similar...anatomies. What really bothered Ezra was why. At the moment, the going hypotheses was that, as a corollary of their evolutionary nature, they had developed a form of sexual reproduction, and perhaps the more \'mammalian\' Digimon exhibited mammary glands as anti-virus subroutines to \'clean\' food for their young. What the bio-emergance process would do to their...reproduction methods couldn\'t really even be speculated upon, as there was really no available data. But, at the moment, none of this was really going through Ezra\'s mind at the moment. He was too busy wondering what it would be like to have sex with Luna. He had always scoffed at the idea (which certainly existed), though never openly. But the thought of letting go of the Renamon\'s wrist, dropping her to the ground, and fucking her in every available orifice not only did not seem deranged, it was something that he would do in less than a second, given the chance.
\"So, do you want to try again, or are you trying to see how long I can balance here like this?\"
\"I imagine that an enemy would have let go of your wrist by now and done something else by now,\" he answered, reluctantly called back to reality.
\"Very well, then. Release me.\" he did. Nothing happened. Absolutely nothing. Not the slightest shudder or shift, not even a twitch. While he waited for her to do something else, he felt his eyes drawn downward from eye level—which consisted of her well-muscled, though spectacularly graceful, yellow thighs. He mentally cursed the small tuft of white fur that stood between his eyes and where her pussy—would?—be. At the moment, he really didn\'t want anything more than to either bury his face there and find it that way, or putting his hands around that voluptuous waist, push her to the ground, and find it in a more forceful fashion. He could see it now, her fur matted with sweat and juices as both of them (or at least Ezra) experienced true carnal pleasure for the first time.
\"What are you thinking about?\" came the inquisitive, ever-calm voice of the creature of his fantasies, from behind him and to the right.
\"Hm, what?\" he shook himself from his wishful thinking. At least this time, she was behind him—although he wasn\'t quite sure how she had gotten there—and he was wearing his blue robe that hid his throbbing erection quite skillfully. \"I was thinking about bio-emergance, actually...\" he half-lied. The subject had been brought up in the IRC channel that he and six of his other friends hosted and used for their discussions on their favorite subjects.
\"I have no answers for you there,\" she answered. \"As a tamer, you must know more about it than I do.\"
\"But you experienced it.\"
\"I don\'t recall the experience. I remember waking up in the plains where I was sleeping, and the next thing I remember after that was the inside of your room.\" For this discussion, Luna took the same seat she had taken before: sitting on the counter\'s edge with her arms holding her there.
\"What about others?\"
\"I have never known anyone who came here and went back. My clan has legends and prophecies about it, but as far as I know, none of them actually describe the process.\"
\"Really?\" Ezra widened his eyes in surprise. He had never heard anything about Digimon having culture or other characteristics of an advanced society. Of course, only a very small percentage of the digital world had ever been explored—it was entirely possible that individual groups and groups of species could develop a complex society. \"Such as what?\"
\"I\'m not a shaman,\" she offered. \"But there\'s one that when humans set foot in the Plains Kitsune, that it will be the beginning of the end for the Plains.\"
\"That sounds ominous,\" Ezra said, slightly unsettled.
\"The shamans generally are.\"
Ezra finally managed to get his tea, which he sipped lightly as he looked out the city, realizing for the first time that he was quite lucky to have a Digimon that was at least vaguely humanoid and that was quite capable of stealth.
\"Not yet, no. i was going to start the decoding process last night, but I...\" What could he say? That he had been jerking off thinking about her? \"Got tired before I could really get anything done.\"
\"Decoding complete,\" the voice of his computer echoed through the house at full volume. Raising an eyebrow, he stood up and moved back to his combination computer room/bed room. The digivice had been connected to his serial port, and apparently, it had been set to begin decoding Luna\'s data.
\"Did you do that?\" he asked her. He hadn\'t heard her follow him, but he was sure that he had.
\"I did not.\" her voice responded. Ezra picked up the digivice and looked at it\'s screen, which displayed a message about it\'s firmware being copied over to his terminal.
\"Parsing decoded data structure based on previous configuration.\"
\"Uh...okay,\" he said, watching the detailed output of a program he didn\'t even know existed. That was weird on so many levels. For one thing, how did it know how to interface with his speech software—he had written that himself. Sure, it had been based on some existing open source software, but at least 80% of it—including the external interfacing code—was his own, and he had never shared it with anyone.
\"Is something wrong.\"
\"Well, no,\" he answered. \"I would have gotten around to doing this eventually, it\'s just very strange that--\"
\"Structural analysis complete.\" An interface—also completely unexplained—showed up to display structures, classes, types, everything that he would have done himself. After a few minutes of looking through the terminal output of the process—which was sketchy at best—he gave up trying to come up with an explanation for what had happened. It wasn\'t as if it really mattered, ultimately. It was just...odd, like so many other things that had happened lately.
\"At least it saves me the work, I suppose...anyway, what else do you know about bio-emergance?\"
\"Um...\" she hesitated momentarily. Not something Ezra would have expected from her when they first met. Maybe his first impression of her had simply been wrong after all. \"The first of us who bio-emerged, according to mythic history, encountered a great demon. He was defeated, but only when Renamon sacrificed himself in his final attack. His sacrifice, also according to legend, made the process much more difficult, so it could be accomplished only by the chosen and the powerful, who could handle the dangers of the real world,\" she said, setting herself up on his unmade bed. That act made a few thousand thoughts go through his mind—most of which he never would have considered until two days ago. At the moment, he didn\'t really want her to do anything more than grab him and drag him into his bed with her. But, barring some miracle, that wasn\'t happening anytime soon. Unless...
\"Luna, ever since I met you, there\'s something I\'ve wanted to...do...\" he said boldly, only to be interrupted by his partner in conversation.
\"What is it? You\'ve already scanned my data.\"
\"Well, ever since I met you, I...\" he fumbled. Expressing himself had seemed like a good idea when he had started, but he had never been very good at it, and it was begenning to not seem like a good idea any longer.
\"I just wanted to say; I\'ve never known anyone l-like you before, and well, since you\'re the first, I haven\'t really had the chance to--\"
DING! A sound he was far more used to, the sound of a doorbell, interrupted his conversation this time. He was almost thankful for it, too.
\"I have to, uh...\" he gestured out towards the residential front entrance. \"Get...door. He tied his robe around himself tightly, trying to make himself look as professional as one could while wearing a robe. He quickly made him downstairs, wondering who it could be; he wasn\'t expecting anybody.
He opened the door, and standing in the doorway was a young man, roughly Ezra\'s own age, carrying a large bundle of all kinds of hand-made technical equipment. Some of them had easily discernable functions: scanners, multi-purpose laptops, high-resolution photography...other items he had absolutely no idea what they were for.
\"Can I help you?\" Ezra asked?
\"Vere ist it? he asked, speaking with a heavy German accent.
\"Where is what?\"
\"The Digimon. Don\'t tell me that you didn\'t know, vat vith it emerging nearly on top of your house und all.\"
\"The dig--\" era\'s eyes widened. It had never occurred to him that someone might have been monitoring that sort of thing, although he didn\'t know how. He took a brief glance behind him to ensure that Luna wasn\'t standing behind him in plain sight. \"Are you DDTC?\" he asked incredulously, turning rapidly around to look out the door behind his guest. He had never known government types of any agency work alone like that.
\"Me, DDTC? Heawens, no. It\'s me, Gustaf.\"
\"Gustaf...Gustaf...\" Ezra racked his mind until something came to it. \"Gustaf von Brauch? ViruStick?\" he asked again, using his IRC alias, which Ezra was far more familiar wiith.
\"The same.\"
\"Sehr guten,\" Ezra said, speaking fluent German. \"Willkommen, mein Freund.\"
\"Sperchen sie deutsches?\" he responded. \"You never told me you spoke German.\"
\"And French and Russian. Comrade.\" he grinned. \"Tea?\"
\"Ja, sure. Vite, if you haf it.\"
\"I do. Make yourself at home, mein fruend. I\'ll be back in a minute.\" he moved as fast as he could to the kitchen. That was certainly not something he had thought of—unfortunately for him, that stack was becoming increasingly large. What was he going to tell Gustaf. He was as close a friend as Ezra had, even if they only vaguely knew each other\'s first names. But, on the other hand, he wasn\'t quite sure how he would react to being told that the Digimon was meant for Ezra.
\"Who is he?\" Luna\'s calm voice asked from his right—she was in the same place she had been in the morning.
\"He\'s a friend. You don\'t have to worry,\" he said, pouring some water into the final unbroken tea cup. \"Not that you have much to worry from humans, for the most part...\" He hunted around for the tray a few moments before finding it, putting the pot of water on the tray, and turning around.
\"Wait a few minutes, Luna, then make an entrance.\" he smiled. \"I want to show ViruStick how lucky I am.\"
\"I\'d be happy to,\" Luna answered, jumping down from the counter without making a sound that her tamer could hear. \"But I think you\'re enjoying yourself just a little too much at your friend\'s expense.\"
\"Oh, it\'s alright,\" he answered her. \"He\'ll laugh about it later.\" At this rate, she was never going to understand humans. She waited until he closed the door behind him, then stood outside of it, observing their conversation just out of the sight of his companion.
\"Here you are,\" her tamer said, setting down the tray. \"Tell me, how did you manage to pin down the point of bio-emergance so precisely as my house?\"
\"Vell, it vasn\'t really difficult...public access to veather sattellites make it easy to cross-reference general stream concentration against thermographics.\"
\"Thermographics? How does infrared--\"
\"Signature of the digital field,\" Gustaf remarked offhanded.
\"I didn\'t know that...\"
\"It\'s new.\"
\"How new?\'
\"About two days ago, actually. This was the first time I vas able to test the theory. Had you been online, you probably would haf been notified.\"
\"Yes, well, I was very busy.\" her tamer said defensively.
\"Again...bringing me back to vhy I came. Vat where you doing at around two-thirty?\"
\"I was in bed, where any sane person belongs at two AM.\"
\"Look, Ezra...I understand if you vant to keep it to yourself that it bioemerged near your home, but at ze very least, I vould like to know vat you saw. None of the high-resolution spy satellites we haf access to were over the area.\"
\"It wouldn\'t have helped. It happened inside.\"
\"I thought you vere sleeping?\"
\"I was. I woke up to be witness a robbery.\"
\"Ah, zat\'s never a good thing.\"
\"No, it wasn\'t. fortunately, that was when the bioemergance occurred.\"
\"So you did see it. And it vas here,\" her tamer\'s guest began to take out some of the stuff he had brought with him, arraying it on the small table in the living room they were sitting at.
\"Yes, and she saved my life.\"
\"You\'re a wery lucky man, Ezra...ven vere you planning on telling the rest of us about this?\"
\"I hadn\'t thought about it, really. I would have gotten around to it eventually.\"
\"Ever the selfish one, DarKnight...listen, vould you mind if I stayed here for a few days to collect data? I\'d give you the equipment to do it, but some of this equipment is wery new und untested, and I\'m not sure how it vill perform.\"
\"Of course,\" Luna could easily see that her tamer was failing miserably at trying to display a splitting grin across his face. He was enjoying this far too much. \"But, before you do anything else, there\'s someone that I would like you to meet.\"
When Gustaf turned around to unzip another one of the bags he had carried with him, Luna opened the door and walked silently behind over behind her tamer, well enough that neither one of them knew that she was there. By now, though, she suspected that Ezra had grown accustomed enough to her to expect that she would be there.
Gustaf turned back around, looked directly at her, dropped everything that was in his hands, slipped on something, and fell down. When he recovered, his were almost as wide as Ezra\'s had been when he first saw her.
\"It ist...R-R-Renamon...\" he said, fumbling around in his pile of stuff for something.
\"Gustaf, meet Luna.\"
\"L-luna? Vhy did you name it?\" he asked, evidently finding what he was looking for and pointing it in her direction.
\"Because she\'s unique.\"
\"Unique? Unique how? More...importantly...vy is it here?\" he raised an eyebrow at whatever he was getting on his instrument and tapped the side of it\'s screen, mumbling something even she couldn\'t make out.
\"She\'s...here. And she\'s here, because...well...I don\'t know. But, she is.\" Her tamer placed the digivice onto the table.
\"A d-arc!\" Gustaf said, picking it up by cupping it between his two hands, as if it was some kind of religious icon. \"Then this means zat...you...\"
\"Yes.\"
\"An exqvuisite specimen...would you mind if I scanned it\'s baseline code?\" Luna twitched. He was talking about her...a specimen...like she was some kind of project. Was that what Ezra had been like before she came to the real world? And if it was, what had changed it? She looked to Ezra, and he looked almost as uncomfortable with the statement as he had.
\"I...I already have,\" he said, almost sounding ashamed of himself. \"And decoded and parsed it.\"
\"In two days? How did you manage that?\'
\"The digi-vice\'s firmware.\"
\"Ah...Ja, that vould make sense. It knows how to encode from digital to organic, it vould only make sense it vould have the capability to do the reverse...\"
Gustaf spent the next few minutes in silence, doing something with what appeared to be a malfunctioning scanner of some sorts.
\"Vell...it looks like a Renamon, Ja, but zere is a fairly hefty wariance, even from this passive standpoint...\" Did everyone have to know that she was corrupted? She had wanted to come to this world to escape that, not to make it more obvious.
\"Yes. I am partially corrupted,\" she said, looking away.
\"Ah. I\'m sorry,\" he answered, not sounding genuinely sorry at all. \"If you vould like, Ezra, vith some vork, we could probably restore her higher-lewel code to vhat it should be. She vould have to be re-encoded of course, and re-incorporated into the net\'s stream, ja, but--\"
\"That\'s enough!\" Her tamer stood up and pounded his fist into the table. \"She is not data, some program, to be scanned, manipulated, decompiled, rewritten, recompiled, and compared with some programmatic ideal that you have in your head! She is a living, breathing, sentient organism comprised of the same elements we are.\" As he spoke, he had grabbed her arm, and was pulling her against him. \"She is my...partner, my companion, and I, I...\" the hand that was holding her arm began to shake. Another one grabbed her leg, bent her torso downwards below her tamer\'s head, and before she had time to anticipate what he was going to do, he bent his neck over and kissed her full-on. At first, she gave a little resistance to his actions, but she soon stopped.
Her eyes, which had started off wide from surprise, closed to enjoy the sensation—and partially to not show her mind the fact that he was human. When his tongue touched hers, she almost fainted, but she managed to bring herself back by reminding herself that this might be the first and only time this happened. She met his tongue with hers and gave a small moan, wrapping her arm around his neck to pull him closer to him.
Luna had never done this with anyone before, so it was an entirely new experience to her. This wasn\'t exactly what she had pictured, standing bent over with her human tamer\'s tounge in her mouth, but...somehow...it felt right.
It seemed to last forever, but when it ended and he pulled away, for the first time in her life, she lost her balance and almost fell. She recovered, however, and got back to her normal height.
\"And I love her...\" he concluded.
\"You...you vhat?\"
They continued their conversation in a slightly less heated tone, but Luna, who was at the point where she was almost gasping for breath, wasn\'t paying attention to it. This was too much. She had been in the real world a grand total of three days, and she had kissed a human. What did that mean? She was sure that the shamans of her clan would have something to say about the matter...or maybe they wouldn\'t. Not that she really cared what they thought anyway—for the most part, they had never been kind to her all her life—her corruption had her labeled as a bad omen. One of the reasons she had wanted to come to the real world was to get away from all that. At one point, she had thought Ezra was going to be like all the rest...but...now...was it different?
\"Vell...I suppose. I never really thought of zem in that light. But...vhat about the DDTC? If I vas able to find you here, I\'m sure they vill.\"
\"I never thought about it until you arrived...I don\'t know, Gustaf. What do you think?\"
\"What is the DDTC?\" Luna asked, now that she was back to her senses.
\"The Department of Digimon Tracking and Control. It\'s a shadow government group dedicated to controlling Digimon who bio-emerge.\"
\"Ja, obviously not people you want to get involved vith, Luna.\"
\"What do they want with me?\" she asked.
\"They\'re just ignorant, and don\'t understand that most Digimon aren\'t actively involved in the overthrow of humanity as the dominant race on the planet.\"
\"You sound like you have had this conversation before.\"
\"I have...just...never with a Digimon.\"
Luna turned her head to the side and smiled.
\"Well...Gustaf. I still haven\'t decided on what I\'m going to do in the long run. I value your opinion, so if you\'d still like to stay here for a few days...\"
\"Ja. ja, of course. I vould never do anything to miss a chance like this...it ist the oppurtunity of a lifetime, ja?\"
\"I...I guess so.\"
\"I\'ll go unpack, zen. Vhere do you vant me to sleep?\"
\"Um,\" her tamer answered. \"You can take the room upstairs. Luna will sleep in my room.\"
\"Er, Ja, alvight...\"
Her eyes widened again, and to prevent the loss of her balance, she grasped the wrist of her tamer\'s hand with a very intense grip.
\"T-t-amer...\"
\"Ezra,\" he emphasized. She nodded.
\"Ezra...what...why?\" she stammered.
\"I...I love you, Luna. At least...I think I do, it\'s something I\'m particularly well-versed in. I was trying to tell you earlier, but I couldn\'t find the words. And I suppose I still wasn\'t one hundred percent sure. I guess it took someone like Gustaf to really throw it into perspective for me.\" His own hand moved on top of hers where she had grabbed him. \"I hope you\'re not mad at me. I know none of this makes any sense, but...\"
\"I am not mad, Ezra. I am just...surprised, that is all.\"
\"Thank you,\" he said, giving her another small kiss on the side of her face. She stood firm and erect, not really knowing how to react.
Ezra\'s heart, eventually, stopped racing. She hadn\'t killed him yet. Evidently, his first impression of her being an emotionless, single-track mind Digimon had been wrong after all.
\"Ezra, can I ask you something?\"
\"Always.\"
\"Does this mean you aren\'t going to read my code?\" Ezra gave a small twitch. That was the question, wasn\'t it? Her code was still quite useful—the thought of actually reducing her to that was what had set him off, but he didn\'t really know what he was going to do with it.
\"I...I\'d like to. In a demented sort of way, it would...let me know you. But I prefer the real thing. Is there something you\'d prefer I didn\'t know?\" he said, placing his hand on her waist. He could feel a small spasm from his touch, but she didn\'t move.
\"It\'s not that I don\'t want you to know, it\'s...\" after meeting his gaze for a few moments, she looked away. \"It\'s about my corruption...but, you already made it clear that\'s not an issue,\" she said, a small smile appearing on her face. \"Feel free. Consider it a thank-you gift,\" she said. He closed his eyes to savor the moment, and when he did, he felt Luna\'s wet nose press against his cheek, and her lips against his. It was a brief kiss, but to him, it didn\'t mean any less than the one before it. \"For being able to see beyond it.\"
\"You have no idea how much this means to me, Luna.\"
\"I\'m going to go explore the city,\" Luna said. \"I\'ll leave you and Gustaf alone to do...whatever it is it that you do.\"
When Ezra opened his eyes, she was gone. Probably to think about what he had just done. He sat down, sighed heavily, and downed three more cups of tea in rapid succession. When he finished that, he began examining the equipment that Gustaf had brought with him.
\"I see you found my scanner.\"
\"Yes...how...um, how does it work?\"
\"It\'s a passive scan.\"
\"Visual?\"
\"Ja.\"
\"You were able to determine her degree of corruption based solely on visual examination?\"
\"It\'s wery precise.\"
\"Apparently.\"
They sat in silence for a few moments, Ezra staring at the scanner, wondering how it could possibly be that precise, and Gustaf looking at where the Renamon had been standing.
\"Vhat was it like?\"
\"What was what like?\"
\"Vhen you got the d-arc.\"
\"Surprise, at first...disbelief.\"
\"You haf no idea just how lucky you are, Ezra...\"
\"Don\'t misunderstand me, my friend, I do, there\'s just...more to this than I thought there would be. And it raises lots of questions.\"
\"Like vhat?\"
\"Well, I don\'t know what I\'m going to do in the long term. I had always assumed I would pursue knowledge of Digimon for my entire life. However...now that I have one here...indentured to me, I believe is the word she used...I don\'t know what to do with that pursuit any longer.\"
\"An oppurtunity vill reveal itself, Ezra. It alvays does.\"
\"Yes, well...unfortunately, I don\'t share your optimistic appraisal of the situation.\"
\"I don\'t see vhat else you could do in the meantime, anyvay.\"
\"I suppose...\" he said. He found himself saying and thinking that a great deal—something he generally tried to avoid.
\"Vell, I must be off. Some of ze equipment that I brought with me could be modified to create a local passive scanner for detecting bio-emergances. I\'d prefer to know if anything emerges and decides it vants to hunt Renamon.\"
\"Good idea,\" Ezra said. He went off to get dressed, and then to begin the arduous task of sifting through Luna\'s data. It was about time that he discover the nature of corruption that Luna was speaking of. Maybe it was something that could be used...
