Legoshi and Jack sighed as the warm air brushed over their bare-furred chests. The two best friends were silent though, and the lack of other animals around did little to alleviate their silent blushing.

It was October 29th, midway through a very chilly autumn.

They apprehensively walked over to the waters, cheeks fiercely blushing as they secretly marveled at each other’s near nakedness, save for traditional fundoshi the pair each wore. Legoshi gulped with nervous, panting lust at seeing Jack in such revealing undergarments, and his ears boomed with blood from how little his undergarment did to hide his growing erection. His nervousness lessened, however, when Jack’s own member peeked in view, and the Labrador simply chuckled.

“You’re so handsome, Legoshi.”

“Y-You too, J-Jack…”

Towels covered their crotches as they navigated the steam-filled garden and stepped towards the nearest hot spring, placing said towels at the tiled edge of the pool, then exhaling in unison as they descended into the water. Their tail swished and wagged underwater as together, the wolf and Labrador let out relieved laughs.

“Man! That feels too good!” Jack stretched his arms and leaned his back against the spring’s edge. His fingers brushed against his gray-furred companion’s shoulders, which tensed and then relaxed just as quickly. “So, Birthday Boy, what do you think of your present?”

“It sure feels amazing, Jack…” Legoshi returned a nervous yet genuine smile, closing his tired eyes. “I can’t even remember the last time I visited one of these places.”

“Tell me about it,” Jack panted happily, giggling to himself. “I got the idea to come here after Collot mentioned bringing a girlfriend to this place. So, I thought that…well, since we’re…”

Legoshi’s smile wavered, and the wolf nodded silently. “Um, y-yeah.”

The two boys fell silent. Cherryton Academy seemed so distant and far away, but it didn’t prevent them from feeling self-conscious about admitting their relationship out loud. It had only been a week and a half since Jack confessed his feelings to his childhood best friend, and the lanky wolf awkwardly returned those same feelings. Unfortunately, the high school seniors had been too busy preparing for exams ever since to do much about exploring their newfound relationship. The closest that they’d ever gone on a date was on an impromptu search for bugs the afternoon after surviving a grueling history exam. The only time the two canines managed to be even close to intimate was when Jack snuggled up to Legoshi inside the latter’s bunk bed after falling asleep midway through a crammed study session.

Now, with exams all over, the academy distant, and none of their classmates in sight, the pair were quick to fully realize the obvious: both were completely naked and all alone inside a hot spring. Not another soul could be heard in any direction of the foggy garden.

“Be honest with me, Legoshi,” Jack asked, his ears downcast, and voice sounding uncertain. “Are you…Are you having…second thoughts? About us being an actual couple?”

“Huh?” Legoshi perked up, sounding confused. The normally stoic wolf even appeared a little hurt by the question. “Why would you think that I was having second thoughts, Jack?”

Jack felt the urge to be swallowed into the hot springs. All he could do was merely lower himself into the warm waters until his head and shoulders stayed exposed. He whimpered.

“It’s just…I feel like I’m making you uncomfortable…” he mumbled and bubbled at once. “I don’t want you to feel obligated about us being together just because you’re my best friend. I know it didn’t work out with Haru when she graduated and left for that college all the way in Zootopia, and if you think I’m taking advantage of you—”

“You’re not making me uncomfortable, Jack,” Legoshi assured him. He glanced around, then awkwardly shifted closer to stare directly at the Labrador’s eyes, a pair of fingers gently lifting his golden-furred muzzle above the steamy waters. “You’re not taking advantage of me either. I…I’ll admit that I am still…torn up about Haru, but she isn’t the reason I agreed to be with you. I did it because you’re my closest friend and you’ve always been there for me for so long. You want to make me happy, and you’ve always been there for me. This entire time, I…I’ve been scared.”

Jack whimpered, half curious and half worried about the reason why.

“I’ve been worried if you’ve been thinking that I am using you as a rebound,” Legoshi confessed. “I would never want to make you think that…”

“A rebound?” Jack asked, feeling slight relief. “Legoshi…you’re not making me think that. I’ve known you since kindergarten, and I know you would never do anything to toy with my feelings. You’re not that kind of wolf. You’re too kind for your own good.”

Legoshi’s bright smile may as well have been the crescent moon. The cool mountain air gently brushed against their muzzles and ears, as the tense pair of dripping, sweaty canines sat facing each other and waited for the other to speak next.

“Do you,” Jack whispered, looking slightly away as he finished his question, “still love her?”

Legoshi felt his tail curled tightly underneath the water. It relaxed after a moment. Poor Jack looked so worried and apprehensive, even after all the reassurances he’d given him.

“I…No, I don’t think a part of me is ever gonna stop loving her. Haru was my first girlfriend after all. She was…an important part of my life, and I can’t forget that.” Noticing Jack’s resigned expression, Legoshi’s ears went crestfallen, and the wolf lifted his golden muzzle to face him again. He smiled softly at the smaller dog. “You’re important to me too, Jack. Maybe even more important than Haru was…”

“How so?” Jack whimpered out a sigh, only to be interrupted not by words, but a kiss.

Their previous times spent kissing had been either rushed or chaste. Each one had been memorable and sweet, but never this intense before. Not as the timber wolf connected his lips with Jack’s, tasting sweet like cinnamon. The mere act of Legoshi brushing his thicker tongue against his fangs midway through the kiss suddenly led to Jack letting out a moan that grew. His member throbbed through his fundoshi underwater. It kept painfully hard, even as his wolf and he parted for air, their tongues left drooling outward.

“Because you’re not just my first boyfriend,” Legoshi explained between soft, panting breaths. “You’re still my best friend, and nothing is ever going to change that. You’re still going to be an important part of my life no matter what happens, Jack. A-And I…I…”

Despite how bold he had been earlier, Legoshi suddenly began to sound flustered. He blushed more fiercely and struggled to maintain eye contact with Jack as he finished his sentence and said, “I can show you…how much I love you too. I-If that’s all right with you?”

Jack was absolutely gobsmacked. His erection went incredibly rigid underwater, once more straining and then nearly snapping off his fundoshi before the full shaft slipped out. The Labrador let out a low moan between sharp nods directed at Legoshi. His tail practically thrashed above the waters as he knelt up straighter.

“Y-Yes!” Jack hummed excitedly. “L-Legoshi, I…I would love that so much…”

Legoshi’s smile lit up through the steam. “A-Alright!” He gulped, the apprehension returning, but not slowing him down. “That…That’s good.”

The two canines felt like time itself slowed down. They shifted closer until their stomachs barely touched, their hot breathes caressed their cold noses, and they held each other by their arms. Jack beamed bashfully up at the tall wolf, his tail wagging underwater like a yellow maelstrom. Legoshi trembled slightly, then less so as Jack touched his bare chest. They could feel the wolf’s heartbeat pounding.

“Are you sure about this, Legoshi?” Jack whispered. “This…is a huge step for us.”

Legoshi nodded. “I am. You?”

The Labrador stared up at him. “I know you, buddy. And I know myself too. I’m ready.”

One heartbeat. Two heartbeats. Three heartbeats and more. Steam billowed around them.

“Can I…kiss you?” Legoshi mumbled, asking as if he needed permission. “Again?”

Jack nodded with a widening smile. “Yes, please…”

Their muzzles reconnected. Electric pleasure danced up and down their spines and wagging tails as they struggled not to let out high-pitched moans against each other’s lips. It didn’t stop there, however. Jack was the first emboldened of the two canines to insert his tongue and eagerly slithered himself past his wolf boyfriend’s fangs. Surprised at first by the welcomed oral intrusion, Legoshi rolled his eyes back in euphoric bliss as he let the Labrador take the lead for a moment.

Jack broke the kiss for a moment. “I hope you’ll enjoy your second present, Legoshi! Hehe.”

“I better figure out what to get you in a couple months…” Legoshi mumbled.

“Don’t worry. Whatever you decide to get me, you’ll be the best present I could ever hope for!” Jack beamed, returning his soft smile directly back at him, then pulled his lover into another kiss. “I love you.”

Legoshi whispered back, “I love you too, Jack…”

They rubbed their cocks together, giggling and kissing deeper as they felt each other leak buckets already, their essences mixing in with the hot spring water.
