Another writing prompt complete, and this one is another "How to Seer" post! Writing prompts are offered as part of the furry writing group in which I take part on Telegram.

(Interested in joining us? PM me for an invite!)

The focus of this prompt is to do a short story of "about 1000 words" with the prompt: Choose a song and write a story using at least 3 lines from the story as narrative or dialogue. A 'song based prompt' shows up in our writing group on a yearly basis, and I am astounded to see that the last time I updated How to Seer was with the exact same prompt in Part 24... wow.

The song I used was from the 80s, and the name of the song was one of the lines I took from it!

Thanks for reading!

How to Seer, Part 25 copyright comidacomida 2025 Since becoming a Seer I've learned that there's a certain symetry to life; things happen in cycles, and the moments of deja vu a lot of people experience isn't the half of it. On the greater scale, even if grand occurrences and history-creating events are presented differently or happen in different parts of the world, they repeat... most people are just too focused on the small scale to realize it. In other cases, it's almost as if reality had a sense of humor and constantly decided to remind people that the best laid plans are often the ones that go most awry. Most times when this happens we have to roll with the punches and suck it up. Other times, rarer ones, whether through dumb luck or the helpful intervention of others, we manage to salvage a win. That was what happened the second time I found the opportunity to get intimate with Mitch. During our first coupling the Dragon spirit had interrupted us due to injuries he'd sustained when he was attacked by Nephandi but, that night, nothing stopped me from enjoying everything Mitch offered me, and gave my Raven Spirit the time to accept everything I had to give. He was smaller than I was in every way, lighter, and delicate; his feathers tickled in such wonderful ways and the sounds that came from him as we both worked closer to the plateau of release was magical. By the time I reached my release he was gripping me so tightly that he would have bruised me if he'd had a physical form. I had fallen to the mattress, Mitch cuddled up beside me, wrapping a wing around me like a blanket as he nuzzled my neck with his beat. "There is something amazing about the feeling of belonging, Billy... Thank you." Settling into what I knew would be the most wonderful sleep of my life, I'd just opened my mouth to respond when a loud, grating voice hailed from the parking lot downstairs. "Human-Seer, I is being here to be seeing you again!" Despite my angst at the obvious necessity to leave bed after what I'd hoped would be settling in for the night, Mitch was surprisingly calm about it. "Would you like me to come with you, Billy?" Letting out a sigh, I sat up, rubbing my face in annoyance. "Why do you think I'd bother answering? You remember what happened last time we got involved with him." Mitch sat up, slipping his beak under my chin so he could slide his head there, embracing me. "I know who you are and how you are, Billy. I get a notion from the look in your eyes that you're not going to just ignore him... and that's okay." I leaned down to kiss Mitch on his feathery cowl. "I'll be back soon." Once I'd gotten dressed I left my room then traveled down the hall. When I got to the living room I saw that most of my Nexus of Spirits were lingering by the window overlooking the parking lot. Mishupishu was the first to look back toward me. "He is not injured this time, William. You can ignore him." Yon was similarly unimpressed with the visitor; he continued staring out the window even as he spoke over his shoulder to me. "Billy-kun, you do not have to come running every time a Spirit visits. Ignore him and he will go away." Talapus was a little more pragmatic, glancing over his shoulder to me as he lingered by the window. "I AM a little curious if he plans to come running every time he needs help with something. There is something almost thrilling about being with a Human who has a dragon wrapped around his little finger." Link and Herne were the two spirits not lingering by the window; the former was puttering around in the kitchen while the latter was reclining on the sofa, his antlered head on an arm rest. The Bat had nothing to add to the conversation but the Elk, not even bothering to glance toward the window, focused instead on me. "Uilliam, do not be dissuaded. You did not leave me to become feral. If you wish to help him then listen to your heart." Yon's tail flicked. "Listening to his heart is what led him to having six Spirits in his Nexus. Are you suggesting he should lose all his spirit energy by inviting a seventh?" Link seemed much more optimistic about the prospect. "I bet he could do it. Billy has enough power that he could be the center point for a Nexus of at least a DOZEN!" Mishupishu snorted, his voice coming out with the hint of a growl. "While William is one of the most powerful shamans I have ever met, this is not a matter of what he CAN do-- such a thing should not be expected of him." Rather than leaving my Spirits to argue over what I should or shouldn't do, I made my way to the door. "I'll be right back. Since I know you'll all be watching anyway I'm sure you'll step in if there's a problem... but I don't expect one, so don't get needlessly aggressive... alright?" I got a chorus of affirmative responses and, with that, I exited my apartment, went down the stairs, and stepped into the street light closest to the stairs. The Dragon caught sight of me immediately, raising his large head as he turned to face me. "Ah. Human-Seer. I is being pleased to be seeing you." I spread my arms in a non-verbal gesture of presenting myself before adding. "Well, here I am. You called for me." The Dragon bobbed his head up and down in a nod. "Yes-yes. I is being here because I was doing remembering... when we was first meeting you did said to I you is not liking people dying... you did said I was not to be doing ending of people when they are being dying." I didn't need the reminder. "Right. I didn't forget, and I know that you weren't what killed them... but it doesn't mean I felt any better with you doing it." My visitor cocked his scaled head to the side. "Humans are being fragile... easy to die... but not always. Humans are being alive, and alive things are wanting to be staying alive most times." I fought to keep a scowl off my face. "And you came here just to tell me that?" His head swayed from side to side. "No, Human-Seer. I is being here to being telling you that some Humans who are being chasing the dragon's tail do not always having to be eaten by I. Humans are being fragile, but humans are wanting to be staying alive... bodies are wanting to be staying alive. Human-Seer can being helping if you is being fast enough." I almost jumped when I heard Herne's voice behind me. "A dragon spirit has come to you for aid? Truly you are a powerful Druid, Uilliam." Rather than take my eyes off of the Dragon, I spoke back to him. "I thought everyone was going to wait in the apartment for me." Herne's tone suggested no apology. "I was curious as to what being would come to visit my Druid at such an hour. The last thing I expected was a Dragon... they are exceedingly rare spirits... and this one seems to know you." The Dragon continued speaking to me without acknowledging the Elk. "Human-Seer... I is being here to to be speak telling you: a Human man is being dying. You is not liking people dying, and this one you can do being helping if you are being fast enough." Despite being behind me, I could almost feel Herne's eyebrow raise. "Truly, around you nothing is what it seems, Uilliam. I am... enraptured." It would be a lie to say that I didn't know what compelled me to follow the Dragon; I wanted to help. Staring at the Dragon, I made my request clear, realizing it was going to provide him some spirit energy, but, at that moment, I didn't care. "Show me."
