Note: Two things:

  1. Telepathic messages are in star quotes (*phrase*)

  2. When I say Lacyus or Mattheiu, it's the same character, just different forms (Lacyus dragon, Mattheiu Human

Marissa sighed. Math twelve was anything but interesting.

'How could La-I mean Mattheiu find this interesting.'

She began to nod off, still tired from her soccer game the night before. Unlike what she suspected, she fit in perfectly. Because of her dragon-speed reflexes, she was a perfect goalie. Nothing had gotten past her yet.

As her eyes closed, a cold knife wedged itself into the back of her mind. She winced as a sudden headache developed

*Stay awake!* Mattheiu snapped telepathically. *You're gonna get in trouble again!*

*Right, sorry.*

Despite being annoyed at Mattheiu's method of waking her up, she knew he had her best interests at heart. In fact, that was the only thing she found kind on Earth. The human world was cold and unforgiving. Mattheiu had pointed out that humans were greedy and irrational creatures, using every advantage to stab someone in the back. For example, Rodney tried to jump her in revenge for her not going out with him. Only a quick intervention from Mattheiu had helped her survive with all her bones intact.

*What time does meal period begin?* She asked Matt

*11:25 and it's lunch time, not meal period here.*

*Right.*

That was the only part of human society that she had still not mastered: the language. It was chock full of slang and profanity. Add to it the bunches of names that had no link to an object and it was harder to understand than any other language she heard of.

The bell rang for lunch period and Marissa was more than happy to get out of her Math class. She stopped by her locker to get her lunch and drop off her books. She took her purse and checked it's contents, making sure no one had went through it.

Any average person would have thought she was a murderer. Several shuriken were tied off to the side. She had sharpened them to a razor edge, then dipped them in matte black paint to kill the shine. The same was done to her kunai throwing knives. For very feeble creatures, humans, especially the Japanese, made very high quality weapons. Satisfied that everything was there, she grabbed her lunch bag and ran off to meet Mattheiu.

Hannah was jealous.

The new girl, Marissa had hooked up with Mattheiu incredibly easily. She found him cute, and wanted to ask him out one day. Except Marissa beat her to the punch. The two seemed inseparable. Still, she had a hope that Mattheiu would dump Marissa and she would get a second chance.

Hannah had made the decision to tail the two while they walked home to see what Mattheiu saw in Marissa. The two were talking in another language, one she had never heard before. Mattheiu said something and the two laughed. Marissa pulled him in and kissed him on the cheek.

The two continued down the road until they took an unexpected turn down a road leading into the nearby forest.

'Something's wrong.' Hannah reasoned. 'When I went over to Matt's for that project, we went straight, not down this road.'

She tailed them for five minutes. Finally they stopped. Hannah barely had time to dash behind a parked car. Peeking out, she saw Mattheiu make a jesture towards the forest. Marissa dashed into the bushes. Mattheiu, after taking one last look, followed suit. Hannah waited a moment before dumping her backpack and following.

The two had apparently followed a trail into the woods. Hannah came up to a clearing when she heard talking.

"So, explain this theory of yours." It was Mattheiu.

"It's simple. I'll try a transformation into dragon form while holding your hands and putting a little more mana into it. Hopefully, it will activate your dragon DNA and change you into your dragon form." Marissa was explaining something.

Hannah sneaked forward and planted herself in a ditch. This had gotten her attention.

"Hmm. Sounds possible. Let's give it a try." Mattheiu extended his hands to Marissa.

She took them and they both closed their eyes. Hannah was beginning to think they were both weird mystic fanatics. Suddenly the wind began to pick up. Soon it was howling through the trees. There was a flash of light, followed by a large shock wave that knocked Hannah onto her ass. She quickly got back up.

Mattheiu was on his back. However, there was a creature standing over him. Humanoid in shape, it had light blue scales lashed with purple marks. It's head was elongated as well as it's neck; it arched over in an elegant curve. Two wings extended from it's back. The tips of it's fingers had sharp looking claws on it. Hannah reasoned that it was female from it's breasts on the creature's chest. Mattheiu spoke.

"Dragon?"

The creature looked down and sadness filled it's eyes. "Sorry."

"Wings?"

"Sorry."

"Tail?"

"Sorry."

"Scales?"

"I'm so sorry."

The creature seemed genuinely remorseful for no apparent reason. Mattheiu sat up, looking at his hands. His eyes took on the same defeated look.

"It's not your fault Sunset." Mattheiu said, trying to comfort the creature.

"I should have been able to change you though." It sat down, close to crying. "I'm just too weak."

"You're not weak."

"But I-" It stopped suddenly, sniffing the air.

Mattheiu stared at it. "What's wrong?"

"I can smell some lotion."

Hannah realized she put some lotion on her face that morning. She scrambled to her feet as she heard Mattheiu yell something. Hannah ran for her life. Suddenly she couldn't move. It felt like something had locked her arms and legs in position. The force turned her around and she found Mattheiu staring at her. His right arm was extended with his palm pointed towards her. Behind him was the creature.

"Forget everything you have seen here. Run home." He ordered.

Hannah nodded. Mattheiu lowered his right hand and she dropped out of the air. Hannah got up and ran for her life. She jumped out of the forest, grabbed her bag and ran down the road.

Whatever Marissa was, it wasn't human.

***

Mattheiu sighed. Using telekinesis was the only way he could restrain Hannah without hurting her. The problem was that, if someone believed Hannah, they would have everyone from geneticists to religious fanatics breathing down their neck. Turning he searched for a good profanity in Aryian. Sunset suddenly seized him by his shoulders. She was grinning from ear to ear.

"Your magic! It's back!"

It dawned on Mattheiu that he had used telekinesis without thinking. He tried to speak, but could find no words. Sunset grabbed him and hugged him tightly.

"Here." She whispered. "Let me try again."

The air around them began to crackle as Sunset began to feed her mana to Mattheiu. Shivers ran up his spine and he began to sweat as his body temperature began to skyrocket. There was a flash of light and Mattheiu blanked out.

***

Mattheiu awoke on his back. to find Sunset sitting beside him. She was smiling, but said nothing. He smiled back, sitting up.

"What?" Mattheiu asked. "Why are you so happy?"

She stood up. "Look between your legs."

He did. A slender black tail rested there. Mattheiu willed it to move and it did, flicking from side to side. He lifted his hands to look them. They were covered in black scales.

"I'm-"

He jumped to his feet, and hugged Sunset, tears rolling down the side of his face.

"Thank you!" He whimpered. "Thank you so much."

Sunset let her neck go limp and her head rested on his his back.

"You're not a full dragon Lacyus. You have no wings."

"Who cares! I'm still a dragon!"

Suddenly, Sunset's legs buckled. Lacyus caught her, easing her to the ground. He almost panicked.

"Sunset! What's wrong?!?!"

Her eyes were half open. "I'm sorry. I put most of my energy into transforming you." She said, weakly. "I'm going to pa...." Her eyes closed and she went totally limp.

"Sunset??? Sunset!!!!"

Lacyus got up and ran over to where they stashed their backpacks. He rifled through Sunset's until he found her cell phone. He quickly dialed Sarah's number.

There was a click on the line. "Hello?"

"Sarah! I need a pick up right now!"

"What's wrong?" Sarah sounded worried.

"Sunset's unconsious! She tried to transform me into my dragon form, but she used up all of her energy in it!"

"I'll be right there."

Lacyus picked up both backpacks, then ran over and gingerly picked up Sunset. He carried her to the edge of the road and laid her in a ditch to avoid being seen. Suddenly, Lacyus's body began to glow. When the glow subsided, his human body was left. There was no trace of his dragon transformation left on him.

"DAMMIT!" He punched the ground.

There was a moan from Sunset.

Mattheiu spun around and saw Sunset's eyes open just a sliver. She managed a weak smile.

"Don't worry about me." Sunset whispered before passing out again.

"Sunset!!!" Mattheiu called.

Down the road, Mattheiu heard a car. It stopped in front of him. Sarah stepped out helped Mattheiu haul Sunset into the back seat, where he sat with her, stroking her head affectionately

Hannah laid down on her bed, pulling her blankets over her. She had finished her homework. Still, questions whirled in her mind.

What was Marissa? How did Mattheiu manage to stop her by just holding out his hand?

She decided to ask Mattheiu tomorrow. Closing her eyes she quickly fell asleep.

***

In her dream, Hannah, now less than a year old, was sitting naked in a tub of warm, soapy water in what appeared to be a medieval bathroom. But she wasn't human. She had become the creature she saw in the forest. Her mind identified what she was as a dragon. Deep, navy blue scales covered her from head to toe. She had small wings and claws tipped her fingers. She realized that she only stood about two feet tall.

Suddenly, something splashed her from behind. There was some giggling and Hannah turned to face whoever splashed her. Another little dragoness sat in the tub. She was covered in beige-orange scales, the exact same color as a sunset. Her mind and instincts said 'sister.' Hannah's sister splashed her again, giggling.

Hannah laughed too, splashing her. Even though her rational human mind realized she didn't have a sister, Hannah felt like she knew her from somewhere. And she was just so damn happy seeing her. The two played in the water for a long time, water and suds flying everywhere. Finally, a door opened and a fully grown dragoness came in.

Standing over seven feet tall, she had pearly white scales with dark navy blue marks all over her body. She looked very fit and trim. Hannah's mind said 'mom.'

Hannah's dragoness mother took a brush and scrubbed her down. She liked the feel of touching her scales. It felt like she was home again. Her mother then moved on to her sister. Mother then lifted them both out of the tub, wrapping them in towels. Sister playfully batted at her head with the edge of a towel.

Mother then lifted them both up and brought them to her room. There she took off her top and bra to expose two large breasts with hard nipples. Before Hannah could stop herself, her dragoness instincts forced her head forward to start sucking on a nipple. She saw Sister do the same. Hannah closed her eyes, savoring the sweet milk that filled her mouth.

As soon as her stomach was full, she felt very sleepy. Her mother said something nice as Hannah curled up in her arms and fell asleep.

***

Sunset, in her dream, finished sucking on her mom's nipple. Across from her, her sister, Nephilla, a dark navy blue dragoness, was already asleep. Her stomach full, she became drowsy. She fought back the edges of sleep and tried to talk to her. Sunset never wanted this moment to end. In reality, it had been over fifteen years since she had seen her mother.

Her mom shushed her and began to softly sing a lullaby, rocking both of them in her arms. Sunset felt her eyelid begin to droop. A warm sense of being home washed over her as she yawned and rearranged herself in her mother's arms. The combination of the singing and rocking had Sunset ready to pass out. She reached out with her head and sucked a few last drops from her mother's breast before she fell asleep.

Reunion

Marissa knew she was somewhere, but couldn't tell. The world just seemed to spin around her. She opened her eyes, only to see nothing. Just an enveloping darkness. 'Shit. Something's blinded me.' There was something else missing, something...
