As time goes on the enemies and bosses grow harder and harder to beat, which is to be kinda expected when you are some form of a magic user. However it was not until Lucas discovered that his weapon could fire a magic energy beam along with the others on pure chance while just fighting magic monsters. It was then realized that "hey things are going to get harder" from now on.
