Journey to Another World 5 Ch. 19 "I must say that even though you've put up quite a bit of a fuss about having your two Pokemon give birth here, you still came here after it was all said and done." Nurse Joy said as I stood in front of the desk to the Pokemon center with both Rena and Jenavee standing on either side of me, while holding their slumbering bundles in the crooks of their arms. After last nights fiasco with Jenavee and Rena's births, I was overly cautious and probably a bit overprotective of the newborns. I hardly would let anybody else get close to the two newborns as I smothered the two with as much love and affection as I could. So once we'd gotten back to camp, both Rena and Jenavee claimed that they needed to get a lot of sleep and retired with the newborns to our tent. Though upon the next day, I suggested that we'd make one last little trip to the Pokemon center to make sure that both the newborns and their mothers were okay and in perfect health. "Oh come on Nurse Joy. I thought that you'd be happy to see me again. Especially with two very special newborn baby Pokemon here for you to do a checkup on." I said as I reached over and pulled both Rena and Jenavee into my sides and gave the nurse a very cheesy smile. "Though I'd really appreciate it too if you could do a check up on the rest of my team as well. We had a few problems last night and got into a bit of a scrape with one of my other Pokemon." 'Boy was that ever an understatement.' The nurse looked at both Jenavee and Rena, then down at the babies that they still held tight to their bodies, and finally her shoulder drooped and she nodded. "Alright then." She said as she slowly raised her head and looked at me. "I'll forgive the attitude and the rudeness that you showed me the last time you were here since your going to let me do a checkup on the babies, but I want to do a full checkup on them and the mothers as well." She said in a bargaining tone. "Only after I've done that, I'll look at the rest of your Pokemon." "Thanks a lot Nurse Joy, you're the best." I said in a cheesy tone as I smiled even more at her. "Teenagers." She said as she turned away, walked out from behind her desk and shook her head. "They think they can get away with anything and expect us nurse Joy's to take all this and do it with a smile." She looked up at us and gave a slow sigh. "Alright you two. Follow me and we'll get you all set up in exam room 1." She said as she turned and waved over her shoulder for them to follow. With that the three or should I say, five of us headed off to follow the nurse. Though when she pushed to door open for both Rena and Jenavee, she placed a hand on my chest and pushed me back. "And just where do you think your going?" She asked in a rhetorical sort of way. "I was just going to..." "You should know better than this. This place is only for nurses and Pokemon and your neither. So go back to the trainers lounge and wait there. I do not want you here to disturb me while I work with your Gardevoir and Lucario while I examine them and their babies." She said in a strait, non-questioning tone which surprised me a little, but for our past history knowing one another it really wasn't all that surprising when I thought about it . With that said she walked through the door after both Rena and Jenavee, then let the door go which closed and locked with a click. 'You do not need to worry Donovin. Both Rena and I are perfectly healthy, but if this nurse tries anything funny, we are strong enough to deal with her.' Jenavee said psychically to me as I saw her wave an arm at me through the window in the door as both Rena and Jenavee sat down in some chairs in the room. I really didn't know about this, but if Jenavee was okay with it, then I guess it would be okay. 'Just make sure that you keep an eye on that nurse. If she starts reaching for any weird buttons in the wall or a syringe filled with something questionable, I want you to tell me right away, alright.' I thought out loud to her to which she gave me a positive reply. So with that settled I walked back to the waiting area and sat back down next to Rian. "Is everything going to be alright now?" He asked as he sat up and placed his arms on his knees and looked up at me. "Mostly." I simply answered as I pulled off Kit's ball and looked down at it. "Though, not all of it." Rian stood up, walked on over and reached up to place a hand on my shoulder. "Come on Donovin, cheer up." He said with a smile. "Lets go and get something to eat. Getting a bite to eat always helps me to settle down when I am trying to deal with a troubling problem that seems intent of getting me upset." I couldn't help but chuckle to myself as I slowly shook my hand, looked down at him, and nodded. "I guess your right. Both Rena and Jenavee are going to be a while with the nurse, so I might as well get something to eat while I can." With that said the two of us headed on over to the café and grabbed a booth to sit down and eat. About half way through our meal, I set down my chopsticks and took a long sigh. "What's the matter Donovin? Don't much care for your ramen?" Rian asked as he set down the sandwich that he'd been eating. "Huh?" I looked up at him and saw him nod to my bowl. I looked down at the thick brown broth and sighed again. "It's not the ramen," I said with another sigh. "I was just thinking of what I'm going to do from here." I pulled out my smaller map that I'd purchased earlier of the area and pointed down at the place that we were. "I'm just thinking of how I'm going to do all the things that I've promised to my Pokemon team." Rian laughed at that and I gave him a confused/annoyed look. "That is why I avoid promises. That way your not tied down by anything," He reached on over and took a nice long swig of his juice from his cup. "You want to know what I told my parents when they told me to come home every now and then. I said that I would do my best to but did not know when that would happen due to how busy a trainers life gets." He said with a laugh. "Never get yourself tied down to anything and enjoy the road ahead, that is my motto." 'He sounds like he wants to be a bachelor for life. I doubt that will last forever.' I thought as a smirk slowly spread across my face. He asked me what the smile was for but I simply waved it off as just a funny memory from some random movie that I'd seen. So we talked for a while as I explained the plan of my route to him and he agreed that the best way would be through the route that we were going to take as well as the fact that he was going to follow me for a while. "Though, I think this time we should try and head out before it gets to late," He pointed down at the map and pointed to the water walled area. "I have lived here in Pastoria city for a quite some time and I know that there is a certain time when the rain lets up for an hour or two, so that we can pass through route 212 without getting our cloths wet." With that knowledge I gave him a nod and finished off my ramen with a wet slurp of a really long noodle. It was a while later that both Rena and Jenavee came into the café holding their that were still wrapped up in some tiny blankets. "I am happy to inform you that both offspring are in perfect health." Nurse Joy stated as she walked around the girls and gave me a smile. "Though I do wish that I could perform some more test with those two, but your Pokemon were very admit about protecting their offspring." I could see that she was pretty upset about that little fact which could only make me smile. "I was only able to get a little bit of blood and hair samples before their offspring started to cry and they pulled them away from me." She scrunched up her nose and looked away. "I did not even get a chance to get a decent look at them to even tell their gender." She complained as both Rena and Jenavee took up seats on either side of me. " You were starting to get a little to nosy and we could not just let our little ones just lay there and cry like that." Rena said as she brought up her baby to rub noses with it which made the baby giggle playfully and pat either side of her muzzle with it's tiny paws. "Rena is right. And it is our duty as mothers to watch out for our little one's well being and...," Jenavee went on to give the nurse the rest of what being a mother was all about. 'I can't believe how quickly their personalities have changed. It's like somebody flipped a their switches on over to motherhood mode. Maybe even me to fatherhood mode as well.' I thought as I looked on over to the two of them in turn and then up to the nurse. "I do thank you Nurse Joy for doing a checkup on them. It was a bit touch and go there last night with their births, but we got through it somehow and everything turned out alright I guess." She dropped her shoulders and took a long sigh. "I guess it can not really be helped. I had hoped that I would be there for the birth but things just did not work out that way. I do hope that you do stop in sometime in the future so that I can give them a more proper checkup in the future." She bowed politely as she finished her little speech. "Until then. Make sure to take care and I hope to see you soon." With a smile she left the café to probably head back to the counter and take care of someone else's Pokemon. A little while later found all of us in a rented room there at the Pokemon center and all my Pokemon healed up after their battle with Kit. Both Rena and Jenavee were breast feeding their babies, which was a new thing that they really didn't know about, but due to their enlarged breasts, I had to tell them about breast feeding. Though Jenavee and Rena were not to really keen on the idea of their babies nursing from them, the babies took to it like,...you get the picture. "This is really weird Donovin and it feels really awkward. Are you sure that we need to do this for our babies? I never, 'nursed', from my mother when I was still a Ralts. What about you Rena?" Jenavee said as she looked over at Rena. "_ I really do not remember much before that trainer stole me away from my mother, but if Donovin says that this is the way that we need to feed our babies, I do not mind. After all ," She giggled a bit as she shifted around in her chair and peaked under the blanket that was covering up the baby out of modesty. " If feels kind of...nice in a way _." She said with a bit of pride in her voice that was slightly to hide the moan that she slowly let out after-words. Jenavee peaked under her own blanket for a moment then just shrugged her shoulders. I couldn't help but smile at the two of them as they nursed their babies as I sat down in a swivel chair at the desk. Something about the fact that I was now a father of two happy and, according to Nurse Joy, healthy babies just put a smile on my face which wasn't lost to either of them as they saw my smile and blushed themselves. "To answer your question Jenavee, yes it is very important that they be feed like this. Babies are very weak at this stage in their life and need a special thing that's in a mother milk that allows them to keep healthy. And before you ask, a mothers milk is a lot healthier than that bottled stuff that you can buy at a Poke-mart for infant Pokemon." I got up from the desk, walked over to her and gave her a slow kiss which she happily returned, and then did the same to Rena. "Though the fact that these two also have a few human traits in them also makes it more vital that they get as much help and looking after as they growing up. God only knows how things will change once they get a little older." I said as I thought back to last night. * * *

(FLASHBACK)

• * * When both the babies had quieted down after the birth, I'd finally gotten a chance to take a really good look at them. Both of which looked almost like an exact replica of Jenavee and Rena when they were in their first evolutionary forms, but there were a few subliminal hints that were off from those forms about them. I fist took a look at the Ralts that Jenavee was holding and noticed that it had the same red horns on top of it's head, green bowl shaped haircut, and seemed to be in some kind of long sleeper pajama's that all Ralts have, but that is where the resemblances to a normal Ralts ended. This little one didn't have the single fingered hand as a Ralts, but that of five fingers like a normal human, and instead of the normal red eyes it had soft blue ones that I had before my eyes turned to the nasty/scary shade of red that they were now. To say the least, I was quite shocked at how many characteristics that they had that were similar to me, and could only guess at what would it look like when it reached some of the older evolutionary stages in it's life. That's when I got a scary notion/image in my head but quickly shook it off and looked over to Rena who too was holding her baby tight to her chest as well. Looking down at this one, it too had many similarities of that of a normal Riolu. It had the same small ears, black mask, a collar around it's neck, black socks that reached up to it's thighs that matched the same ones that were on it's paws that nearly reached up to it's elbows, the three pieces of silver on it's wrists and the one in the middle of it's chest, those deep red eyes, but that too is where the similarities ended. Unlike most Riolu's that's color was a natural blue with a bit of black here and there, this little one's was a golden color that matched my natural hair color, there was a small tuff of blue/black hair just slightly behind but in-between it's ears, it's collar which was normally supposed to be gold was a light blue which matched my blue eyes, and it had the same five fingers that the Ralts had. All in all, I was quite surprised on how different that they both were from normal Ralts and Riolu's , but that mattered little to me as the love that I had for them couldn't detour me from the fact that these two little ones were my children and I'd love them with all the love that was in my heart. * * *

(BACK TO THE PRESENT)

• * * I just smiled to myself as I sat down in the chair again, and let images of me and the kids having fun in a park start to play in my mind. Both Rena and Jenavee would be sitting on a large blanket preparing some sandwiches for all of us to eat while me and the kids would be off playing somewhere. The images changed many times to us playing some catch, me pushing them on the swings, or pulling them both into a nice warm hug after they'd come down a slide to my awaiting arms. I could almost swear that in the background somewhere I could hear both their voices say, 'I love you daddy.' I slowly opened my eyes again and saw the both Rena and Jenavee had just removed the blankets covering the little ones, slightly placed them so their heads were over their shoulders and proceeded to burp them. Both little ones let out a cute little urp as the gas bubble came up and then snuggled into their mothers shoulders and started to yawn. "It looks like they're about ready for a nap. So what do you say girls, should we go on ahead and put them to bed?" I asked them as I got up out of my seat and looked down to them. "That is all well and good Donovin, but where will they sleep? As much as I would love to have them sleep right next to us, I am afraid that one of us will roll over and crush them." Jenavee said as she brought her little Ralts into her arms and cradled it gently with a slight rocking motion as it would open it's little mouth wide in a long drawn out yawn. "_ Jenavee does have a point Donovin. That bed does not look big enough for the five of us to sleep together ." To which she nodded her head to the bed. I looked on over to the bed and I could see her point. That bed didn't look big enough for five people, let alone for more than two or three. 'Dang rented room beds. They always have them one size to small.' I cursed mentally as I sat back down in the chair to think...and think...and think. "I could probably go back down to the nurse and ask her if there are any other rooms available that have more beds, but that still doesn't really solve our problem of us possibly rolling over and crushing the little ones. What we need is a cradle for them. Probably one big enough for two and that can be easily broken down so that we/I can carry it around with us." I looked down at my Poke-etch and a scowl slowly started to appear on my face. "Though the problem with that is that the Poke-mart is probably closed at this hour," I started to tap my chin with a single finger as I tried to improvise. "I guess that there is no choice but to make a bed for them ourselves out of what we've got here in the room." I said as I swept my arm across the room. "That shouldn't be to hard to do." At least in theory. About ten minutes later I had a decent makeshift bed for the two of them built out of things from the room. A single pillow was large enough for a mattress for them, a set of rolled up towels to border around the pillow so that they wouldn't fall off the pillow, and a nice/large comfy jacket from my pack as their blanket. "Not the best thing for a bed, but I think that that should suffice until we can get on over to the Poke-mart tomorrow and purchase the proper things to make a proper cradle for them." " **_Are you sure that they will be warm enough down there on the floor? Maybe we should put something warm underneath the pillow to give them a little more warmth...**" Rena said as she stood on my right looking down at the two slumbering babies. "Or maybe they will get lonely and need someone to hold onto them to..." I interrupted them both in their slight worry as I placed both my arms over their shoulders and pulled them into a tight hug. "I know that the two of you are worried about them, but you shouldn't be." I walked on over to the thermostat and turned up the heat. "That should do for keeping them warm as the heat comes out from under the floor, and...," I pulled them into another hug. "If they need us, we'll be right here in the room to wait on their beck and wail." "Wail?" Both Rena and Jenavee said in a confused tone. "It means cry or to cry out." I explained as I stripped down into my night sweatpants and motioned for them to join me as I slipped into the bed. Once both girls were nestled into either side of me I reached up and pulled the small chain that was attached to the light, bathing the room in complete darkness. "Now I recommend that the three of us get some sleep too. I imagine that for the next few days or weeks that we wont be getting much in the way of sle..." "WA...WA...WAW!" "And so begins the sleepless nights." I said aloud as both Rena and Jenavee jumped out of bed and over to their little ones.
