Poem: For Dakota
#17 of 2021 Mental Health Crisis
A poem for my partner.
I love it when your smiles are real.
I love it when they're true.
I love it when they radiate,
like light shines down on you.
I loved them then; I love them now;
I love them all the same,
as long as they are genuine
and not damaged and lame.
I hope to still make you shine more
and shine amongst the stars
with camping, kids, and cons galore
unless that love is tar.
I hope it doesn't stick to you
in ways that you find crude
I know I've done a lot of things
to damper / destroy mood.
Aft'rall this time is you choose true,
you choose me once again
I promise things will not be same.
We'll sing for joy again.
