Chapter Eight

"Prophet of Fools"

By

Furry Sith Lord

Hueman led the way as Dr. Avram held a leash attached to his red collar. BH and several other words assisted in carrying luggage the doctor thought they might need on their quest. Hueman tugged at the clothes he wore because the jungle heat was making him sweat uncomfortably.

He had gotten used to washing daily and how great it felt to be clean but here covered with sweat he felt disgusting and it suddenly seemed strange that his people were disgusting like this. He was going to have to teach them to wash more.

Dr. Avram slapped a bug that landed on the back of his neck and although he was covered in sweat like the rest of the party he didn't seem to mind it. A young chimp walked next to him and was busy making a map of their progress. The doctor had insisted on having a skilled cartographer come along to map out the area.

"Nothing makes you feel more alive than when you're in the forest." Dr. Avram remarked and the group grumbled silently. They completely disagreed but were afraid of him finding out because he was paying their salary. The last thing they wanted was to be fired and told to go home and then have to wander out into the forest alone.

Hueman kept tugging at the collar and he had been planning that once they reached his people they would force Dr. Avram to remove it. He would be back in charge of his people and he would make these animals suffer for how he was treated.

"Tell me Hueman, who is the leader of your shrewdness?"

"Me," he replied sourly.

"I mean besides you, don't your group have any elders to lead them?"

"Sean, he leads the village council and is most respected besides myself." Hueman said.

"And they see you as some kind of prophet? Will they still remember you when they see you again?"

"I… dunno." Hueman replied and he turned and looked longingly at BH but he appeared distracted as he was giving orders to the others with them.

"When they first captured me they jumped out of the bushes and threw long range weapons at me. I don't care how tired you are, if you keep dragging your feet then you can expect that they'll pick you off first, being the weakest species among us." BH lectured the group and judging by how a couple rolled their eyes they weren't listening to his advice. Not that he really cared because he basically saw them as cannon fodder anyway.

He tried to ignore the kid tugging on his slave collar but the look of helplessness on the boy's face was breaking his heart. He finally decided to talk to Dr. Avram about the leash because it seemed like overkill.

"Doctor?"

"Yes?"

"I think you should remove the leash. If we stroll into their home with him looking like a prisoner there is no way they won't attack to get him set free." BH said. Dr. Avram saw Hueman looking at the wolf and he snapped the leash.

"Keep walking," he ordered the boy and Hueman obeyed. "I understand your concerns Bloodhound, however we need to make a presence when we enter their village. Showing that we control the boy will do just that. It will open the lines of communication and we can negotiate."

"They're savages! They'll just as soon kill you as to look at you. You dangle their prophet in front of them like a trophy just daring them to attack. No, you're being a fool!

Your best bet is to take the leash portion off but keep the collar on and have the boy lead the way with me by his side. We appear less threatening that way and when everyone rushes out to see that their prophet or whatever he is has returned you can address the crowd and state our intentions." BH said.

"These… creatures are omnivores. They'll eat us just as soon as they look at us. Hell it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't eat each other. They're savages and they need to be met by force. If we appear weak then they'll know we're easy pickings and make us their pets while we wait to be slaughtered to feed them."

"You got them all wrong! Take the advice from someone that's lived with them. You're proposing suicide!" BH warned.

"While I value your input I disagree wholeheartedly."

"Then you're a fool!"

"I think your services will no longer be needed, thank you very much." Dr. Avram replied and BH lowered the stuff he was carrying. He placed it at the doctor's feet and bowed respectfully.

"You just killed everyone here with your ego, hope you'll still find it worth it." BH replied then he went over to the kid and patted him on the head. "See you around…" He leaned in close and hugged the boy. "Brother." He whispered to the lad then walked off in the direction of the hill where he had first captured Hueman and made his escape.

"Oh!" Hueman replied as he noticed where BH was going. He tried to follow but Dr. Avram pulled the leash and pulled the boy next to him.

"Stay." Dr. Avram ordered as the boy watched BH depart and he watched him again longingly. It was clear the boy wanted to go with BH but the doctor had no morfe use for the useless wolf. He knew how his own primate species respected power and if these creatures were related to primates then they too would only respect power and authority.

Hueman led the group into his village and the doctor walked proudly holding the leash. The other hairless apes slowly trickled into the center of the village as they saw the strangers enter and one was holding the holy child as a prisoner.

"Welcome friends, I am Doctor…" he started talking to them in their own language but was cut off as one of the older male hairless apes shouted and they charged in to attack the intruders. Dr. Avram pulled Hueman close as if to use him as a shield but Jonathin, one of the hunters of the group, ran up from behind and stuck a spear right through the doctor's chrest. He had a look of horror as he died and the collar around Hueman's neck instantly unclicked and fell to the ground.

"Capture them! Capture them all, we need food!" Hueman shouted and the hunters quickly captured the rest of the party and began to strip and tie them. Several women started to make cages from pre-tied wood and vines they kept for when the hunters brought back live food.

Naked, humiliated, and scared, the prisoners were locked in the cages with several hunters standing guard for when they would be slaughtered for food later. They now had enough food for a celebration to welcome the prophet's return! Their prisoners just watched them in terror as they waited.

Hueman started walking towards the hill where he knew BH was waiting. Sean, the elder, approached him quickly to stop him from leaving.

"Where are you going?" Sean asked him.

"Woof Woof is waiting for me at the prayer circle. I'm going to meet him."

"Do you want hunters to go with you?" Sean asked.

"No… I don't think I'll need them." Hueman replied then stepped around Sean and continued on his way.

BH sat in the center of the stone ring Hueman had made for his spiritual quest. He peacefully meditated and waited patiently. He hear light footsteps approach and he smelled Hueman's scent so he already knew the outcome of what he had suspected.

"Woof woof, Come!" Hueman ordered in the common language and BH opened one of his eyes to look at the boy as he stood there with his arms folded across his chest.

"Who do you think you're talking to? Boy!" BH responded.

"I came to bring you home peacefully Woof Woof, don't make me use force." The boy said.

"Come here," BH demanded and he gestured for the boy to approach him. "Come here and sit on my lap. If you're gonna act like a cub you'll be treated like one." Hueman reluctantly obeyed and walked over and BH lifted him by placing his paws under the boy's arms and hoisted him onto his lap. Hue watched him curiously trying to figure out what he was doing.

"I see you're still wearing the clothes we gave you. You know what it's like to live in the world I come from. Technically you and your people are the inferior species. I know things that will help your species in ways you can't even imagine. Remember your best friend that died? What was his name again?"

"Joshua," Hueman replied as his face showed the grief he felt.

"Joshua, what if I knew how to fix him so that he wouldn't have died?" BH asked.

"But you killed him!" Hueman interrupted.

"Yes but even you know he was suffering and was so sick. I know how he could have gotten better. I can help all your species and in return you can help me. You believe in the Great Alpha right?"

"Of course!"

"You know he sent me to find you, right?"

"I… thought so. But you're not a nice doggie." Hueman said and BH chuckled as he realized he had the boy in the palm of his paw.

"I'm not a doggie! I've met the Great Alpha in person and we've talked face to face." Hueman's mouth dropped open in surprise. "He is the father of all species and he looks like a giant white bear. He has many forms but he mostly uses his bear form because he is the great protector of us all. No one can see his true form and live!" Hueman looked at BH in fear. BH was surprised at how gullible these species were and they just believed anything if you told them it well enough.

"Anyway he told me to find you and bring you to the city so we could both learn to speak to each other. Then he told me that when we brought you home I was to become your bodyguard… your protector and I was to give you his orders. He wants me to help your species advance so we can go to war and capture all the other species. Once that happens The Great Alpha will then be elevated as king over the whole world and those that are faithful to him will be rewarded. So you need to realize I am not a pet, I am an equal and I was sent to give you the instructions from The Great Alpha. Oh and remember we never say The Great Alpha's name because his name is holy and the tongues of species are too small to say its greatness."

"Oh," Hueman replied. BH found it comical how simple they were and they just believed anything. He had found his army and with them he could restore Bear as the proper ruler of the WC. He would get revenge on the deer, wolf, and their rare white species kids that disposed of him. Also anyone else that betrayed Bear and the WC!

"Will you obey The Great Alpha?" BH asked and Hueman shook his head vigorously.

"Yes, anything for him! My life for him!" Hueman replied.

"Excellent. The Great Alpha will be proud. First we need to teach them how to speak The holy language," BH lied because he was naming the common language something else in order to trick these simpletons to learn it."Because The Great Alpha wants all his species to be able to talk so that they may serve him."

"What about the… slaves but not slaves that came with us?"

"Oh, are they still alive?" BH asked.

"The doctor is being prepared for tonight's feast to welcome me… us back. We may cook up a couple of the others… what's the word for food but not made food yet?" Hueman asked.

"I think you mean 'livestock' and that's fine. A feast sounds wonderful."

"Yes I have much to tell the people about what The Great Alpha wants." Hueman said. BH gave the boy a hug and kissed his forehead. The act made him disgusted with himself but he needed to keep the boy liking him in order for this to work.

"One last thing. I like you and we are brothers because we are both white furs. You may call me Woof Woof but only when we are alone. When we are with others you must call my name BH to show respect. I need your species to respect me if I and to help give the words of the Great Alpha to you."

"But why doesn't he talk to me himself?" Hueman asked.

"Because," BH tried to think of a clever lie to fool the boy. "Your ears are ready but your heart isn't. When you make your heart ready by becoming humble and a slave of The Great Alpha, he will speak to you.

That was why he let your species capture me and make me your slave. He needed to teach me humility and ince I learned it then when we sat here I heard the voice of The Great Alpha telling me to bring you to the city in order to begin your training. Your time will come but first we must make you and your species ready." BH wanted to laugh at himself because lying was becoming so easy he was almost starting to believe it himself.

Hueman and BH entered the village walking side by side as the villagers gawked as BH was dressed as Hueman was. The boy hadn't removed the modern attire they had dressed him with. They now stood as equals and the shrewdness was confused at how an inferior animal could be an equal with their prophet.

"My people," Hueman spoke in the hairless ape language as he was addressing them to tell them everything The Great Alpha had commanded. BH walked over to the roasting corpse of Dr. Avram as he hung on a spit with the fire roasting his flesh.

"So did your big brain help you out of this situation, doctor?" BH mocked in the common language. "Maybe if you had listened to me then you could be the one standing here insteads of becoming tonight's main course. " BH jeered.

"Please help us," one of the prisoners in the cage whispered to him. He turned his yellow eyes to stare at the captive.

"Perhaps I should roll my eyes the way you lot, rolled them at me when I tried warning you. Do you honestly think I'd lift a paw to help you now? Consider yourselves livestock and when the time comes you'll hang all pretty like from a spit like the good doctor. It's a shame you'll never learn from this experience but then survival of the fittest. Had you been smart enough to follow good advice you wouldn't be in this situation now, would you?" Bh said and he turned, walking away, and ignoring their pleas.

How much of the livestock remains?" BH asked Hueman as they had finished eating the feast prepared for them. He was speaking in the hairless ape language so others that were busy cleaning up looked at him in surprise he could actually talk. Originally they thought he could just mimic what they were saying with no real comprehension.

The hairless apes often looked in wonder when Hueman and BH started to speak the common language to each other. Hueman had told them it was the holy language of Gawd that he used to talk to all animals. They never considered that such a thing was real and they also wondered why they hadn't spoken it originally because Gawd was their alpha and not the animals… at least not yet.

"So I have a question for you," BH said as he switched back to the common language to keep the others out of their business for the time being. "How did your species come to live here?"

"Sean knows that one. He tells us the tales of long ago. I can get him to recite it for you, if you want." Hueman replied.

"Please do." Hueman scurried off and BH watched him talking to an older hairless ape. BH recognized him because he had spoken to the boy a few times when BH was still a prisoner of them. He couldn't remember what they had said to each other back then no matter how hard he tried. Because he couldn't speak their language he never retained anything spoken which was something he now regretted. They returned to where he was sitting and sat back down with him.

"So you want to hear the story of our people, yes?" Sean asked him.

"Please,"

"Very well. It was a long time ago, many seasons before our parent's parent's parent's lived. We lived peacefully with the world and we learned by watching the animals that they had an advantage over us. One of our elders realized that we could make tools and weapons and found we could clothe ourselves with the fur of the animals we hunt and eat to keep warm.

Every clan..." Sean told as he went into his story telling mode that he used when telling the stories of long ago to the children in order to teach them.

"What is a clan?" BH interrupted not knowing the word he spoke.

"It means village." Hueman explained then apologized to Sean for interrupting him. The elder cleared his throat and began again.

"Every clan has an alpha but one clan had an alpha so great he stirred the hearts of his people. Word spread far and wide of his greatness. He invented new tools and showed us how to build houses and better protect ou=rselves from animal attacks.

He united all 12 clans and set 12 leaders, who each had white colored skin and were the only white skin colored ones of the clans, as leaders. They had become his prophets and they sought him out to help settle matters if problems arose.

As time progressed it happened one day that he left his body to go where those that died went. The people mourned loudly and they say our cries shook the world as he wondered what would happen now that our Great Alpha had died.

The 12 elders gathered themselves and took refuge in a hut to determine what would become of us. The brought the sacred leaves that The Great Alpha loved so much to burn them as a sweet smell to honor him."

"Excuse me, he had special leaves he liked? Do you remember what they looked like? He once told me he missed the smell of them but he had not gotten any since he left his people." BH lied.

"Everyone knows that," Hueman jeered as BH stared at him.

"Um… the leaves grow on bushes not trees and they look like tiny spears with the center leaf being the biggest and the others around it start getting smaller and smaller until you reach the stem." Sean explained and he drew a picture on the ground.

Marijuana! BH thought to himself as he recognized the picture. These fools have no idea what that is and what it does to you.

"The leaves were part of the reason our people were saved! Gawd, The Great Alpha, once burned the leaves to start a fire and the smell filled him with joy and his mind seemed to open in ways he never had before."

"He was high," BH thought to himself.

"The shape of the leaves is what made him create the spear heads we use on our weapons. With them it became easier to hunt! Once he realized that our spears could be made better he realized every tool we had could and he went about trying to make everything better.

The leaves made him feel better and with them he was happy and this made him end the fighting b etween the clans by showing us it was better to be friendly than enemies with each other.

So as they sat in the hut an amazing thing happened! Gawd appeared to them and he explained that he had gone to the great beyond to rule and that he was watching over us and we were his people. He promised he would return one day and all the animals would serve us and be friendly, no longer trying to attack us like they did in the past.

The 12 ran out of the tent and proclaimed the news to everyone that heard telling of what Gawd the Great Alpha had said! So even now we wait for his return and every so often he sends another white skinned prophet to lead us.

There was a creature from the animals, a ferret named… Timmy that was a pet of Gawd. The two were inseparable as Hueman and you, Woof Woof, are,"

A ferret named Timmy… The name sounded a little familiar to him for some reason. Then it hit him. Timmy Mustelidae-F was the name of the author of The White Dilemma! He was responsible for writing the cub's book that was later mistranslated in order to make species hate rare white fur species. BH now wondered if he was the first fur to tell the other species of the plot to capture every species out there by the hairless apes. Timmy may have been the one to start The Great War!

"With Gawd ruling in the afterlife the animals became brave and decided to rush in and attack us. Their attacks were ruthless and the 12 clans were eventually destroyed. All that remained of our once proud race was those of us that now remain. One small clan and we would have become extinct but there was an animal named Pinta, he was a white ram and he led a group of soldiers. He took pity on our women and children and sent them off into the forest to live out our lives in seclusion. He thought with all the males dead it was only a matter of time until we died out. He forgot that sme of our children were male and some of the women were pregnant.

It took a long time but we were finally able to rebuild our lives into what it is today." Sean said as he concluded his tale. BH leaned back as he thought about how he could spin all of this and turn it into his advantage. These seemed gullible enough but since Timmy had caused them so much trouble they might not be as trusting as Hueman is.

He was going to have to make it look like the whole thing is Hueman's idea! If he alone gave them the orders then they would either celebrate him or hate him for what happened. Although BH would like to get all the credit he didn't want to be framed as being another Timmy by history.

"Hueman, I have a question for you. Do your species eat ram meat?" BH asked.

"No, we avoid it to honor Pinta and all he did to save us." Hueman replied.

"Any other species you refuse to eat?"

"Depends, some animal meat is not good so we don't unless we have to. Like we have some animals that we make pets, like Woof Woof was, so we don't eat him."

"Any species that you refuse to hunt?" BH asked.

"Only if it is stronger than us." Hueman said. BH used the fingers on his paw to stroke the fur around his mouth as he was preparing to concoct a plan.
