The First Meeting - Part 2

I felt uncomfortable. Gemma and I walked through the shopping centre. She looked into store windows, almost dragging me along. I had told her that she needed her own clothes, as most of mine were much too big for her. Although it hadn't stopped her from wearing my favourite jumper.

"I wont need to wear anything else with this on," she had told me with a giggle. I still had to insist that she wear some pants at least as well.

"Fine, but I'll need to make a little adjustment to them," she said as she took them from me. Then grabbing a pair of scissors from the kitchen she returned and immediately cut a hole in the back of them. She noticed my questioning look.

"For my tail silly."

She slipped them on, her tail poking out through the new hole.

But now as we walked past shop windows, peoples stares we're beginning to become too much for me. People were stopping, staring at us. I don't know how she couldn't notice. Suddenly she pulled me aside into a small service corridor.

"What's wrong?" she asked me, a look of concern on her face. "Is it me? Is it what we're doing?"

I shook my head.

"No, it's not you. It's everyone else."

"Then just do what I do. Ignore them, don't think about what others think. Just enjoy doing something fun with me! Like I'm enjoying something fun with you."

She kissed me. The tenderness for her lips against mine was enough to relax me. We walked around looking at clothes for her. Buying some things for her to wear. The stares continued to bore into me, but I managed to ignore them.

We were just about to leave, when a news crew came up to us. But before they could even ask a single question Gemma spoke.

"I know what you are about to ask. Yes, I'm real. No, this is not a prank, and yes this is my beloved."

She pulled me along with her.

"What was that all about?" I asked her.

"It's too hard to explain. Put simply, I'm the prologue of things to come Theo."

"What does that mean exactly?"

She gave me an all knowing smile.

"You'll be seeing more people like me in the very near future."

That night, when Lucas and his girl friend Rachel meet Gemma. Well lets just say, nothing was said for an hour or two. Gemma excused herself, to use the bathroom.

"Well at least she looks nice," Rachel commented. Lucas still sat silent. Not moving an inch. "It's clear too, that you love her Theo, and she you."

I smiled back at her, and pointed to Lucas.

"It's clear that I'm not the only one."

"Gemma and you... just meet last night?" Lucas finally managed.

"Sure did," I replied as Gemma came back into the room.

"Jealous are we Lucas?" Gemma asked, leaning forward and resting her womanhood on top of his head. Rachel struggled to stifle a giggle as his cheeks turned bright red. She stood back up and came over to my side. I put an arm around her waist and pulled her close.

"At least you're looking much happier now!" Rachel told me. I smiled at her, for the first time in an age, the smile I gave her felt genuine.

"I feel much happier."

After I had a shower I went to my room to get some sleeping clothes on. I went in and found Gemma lying in my bed sleeping lightly. I smiled and got some shorts and a spare blanket. I went over to where she slept and pulled the covers over her, giving her a gentle kiss on the cheek. A smile spread across her face.

I turned to leave, deciding to sleep on the couch, when a hand grabbed hold of my arm.

"Oh no you don't, I'm not going to let you sleep on the couch!" Gemma said when I looked down at her. She had a mischievous grin on her face. She pulled me onto the bed with her. "I get to sleep with you from now on."

To prevent me from getting up she rolled on top of me. She kissed my cheek.

"Why?" I asked her. She knew clearly I wasn't going to do anything overly intimate with her.

"Because I want to. I don't expect anything from you, not for a while. Not until you're ready for it at least."

She kissed me again, tenderly on the lips. We just lay there, holding each other. She feel asleep, but I found myself awake, just stroking her. Running my hands through her hair, gliding my fingers down her back. I couldn't stop them, a few tears ran down the side of my face.

Gemmas nose twitched, and her eyes opened. In the dim light I could see her worried look.

"Theo, what's wrong? Why are you crying," she asked.

"I... I'm not crying."

She ran a hand over my cheek.

"Yes you are," she sat up and switched the light on. "You can tell me, what's on your mind?"

I pushed myself up and put my arms around her, bringing her close.

"It's just... for years now, I have always want someone whom I could be close to. Now I have you... I feel... like everything is coming together in my life... for once."

She kissed my cheek, and we settled down again. The light was switched off and she snuggled close to my chest. I closed my eyes as I resumed my caring strokes.

"You know, during the period I was watching you, I couldn't bare to see you sad or upset. Now that I'm with you, the thought of leaving you... it scares me," she whispered. I opened my eyes.

"What are you saying? Are you actually going to leave me? When?"

She pushed herself up and looked into my eyes, her own tears gleaming in the dim light.

"Never! I'm never going to leave you. Not even death will separate me from you."

She rested herself back onto my chest. I closed my eyes, sleep finally overcoming me.

It was the door to my room the woke me initially. Or maybe it was Lucas' loud voice. No matter, the next morning brought with it even more surprises.

"Theo, Gemma... you have to come and see the... news..." he trailed off when he saw us, then looked away.

"Lucas... it's not what you think!" I told him.

"Nah it's not that. I mean I know you two would never... well you know," he trailed off again. As much as he did it with Rachel, he always felt uncomfortable talking about sex, even with her. He shook his head, as if to loose thoughts of me and Gemma expressing ourselves a little more intimately.

"What ever, you really should come and see the news. Perhaps looking in the mirror wouldn't be half bad either."

Myself and Gemma got out of bed. Gemma slipping on my jumper as we walked into the main room, where the T.V was blaring. Rachel looked up from where she sat on the couch, and quickly cover her mouth in surprise.

"Theo what's happened to you?" she asked, her voice quavering ever so slightly.

"What do you mean what's happened to me?" I asked getting just slightly annoyed. I heard Gemma giggle.

"Come on I'll show you," she said taking me by the hand and leading me to the mirror near our front door. I was silent until the news came back on. I put a hand to my reflection, and felt along my face. I had become, just like Gemma, only male. My fur was a silvery grey, like the husky I had when I was a little kid. From my wrists the fur was black, and from knees, to my now paw like feet, was black as well. My chest was white, and my large bushy tail had a black tip. I'd lost my previously thick dark brown hair, fur the only covering, besides my large wolf like ears.

"Do you like it?" Gemma whispered. I looked over at her.

"Did you do this too me?"

"Yes, I had the choice to turn one person into someone like me. I told you yesterday that you'd be seeing more of us, didn't I?"

I didn't answer her. Some how she knew this was the one other thing I wanted in life. To become like the picture I loved to draw so very much.

"It's back on, Theo, Gemma come quickly."

The T.V's volume was turned up and the voice of a female news anchor, burbled from it's speakers.

"Damn it Rachel, not so bloody loud!" Lucas said clamping his hands over his ears. The volume was quickly reduced to a more tolerable level.

"Sorry," Rachel said, then we all turned our attention to the screen.

"And more of these strange wolf people have been appearing Anna. Many countries around the globe are having reports of them walking the streets, and although they do not appear dangerous, many people are trying there best to avoid them at all costs. Their arrival has also sparked riots in dozens of countries, were there has been reports of looting. But among all this there have been thousands who have rushed the streets with open arms greeting the new comers. The question that is on every ones minds though is where did they come from and will they be staying?"

"Ok, thanks for that update Paul, I know for sure that this is something that is going to affect everyone..."

Rachel turned the T.V's volume down. Everyone in the room looked at Gemma, wanting, or expecting an explanation.

"What? You want to know why we've show up so suddenly?"

"Yes, we do," Lucas replied. "Where did you come from exactly?"

"The boarder realm. It is sort of like a parallel universe. Those that occupy it can see us, yet those here, in this realm, can't see them. Two nights ago was the winter solstice, the shortest night of the year. Our realms began to combine that night. This morning both finished coming together, and those that were yet to appear have."

Lucas dropped onto the couch next to Rachel.

"Will the realms ever separate?" he asked. Gemma shook her head.

"No, Never. Like it or not we're here to stay!"
