Inner Struggle-Chapter 11- a hunting we will go
Since Kevin already had his license he was responsible for driving the remainder of the trip. His dad has been going at it with very little sleep so I thought he deserved to rest. I moved up front with my future hubby and just held his paw (I didn't want to distract him on the trip). Within minutes my eyelids started drooping and were impossible to keep open.
Sooner or later Kevin was starting to feel drowsy so I guess it was my turn. We toted Jim onto the passenger seat (maan he was knocked out). Kevin was always a gentleman so he kept my permit in his wallet. My eyes were bloodshot but I was better off driving than either of the other guys.
When we got back there was a note on the door. Martha had apparently left for a few days and visited a few of her high school buddies. Jim seemed to exhausted to even notice, and Kev and I were way too tired for any kind of "activity". I grabbed Jim and dragged him onto the couch, then I picked up my love and set him on my shoulder. I laid him down on our bed and we proceeded to get a good days rest. Never in my life have I been so eager to cuddle with him, the best part about my desire is that I can actually fulfill it now. I saddled up to the naked fox and just wrapped him in my warm embrace as we floated quietly off to sleep.
Jim woke us up like usually with his somewhat cheery attitude. I guess he was just happy to wake up alongside his wife, as always. He brought us both in for one of his usual life rallies. It was the "its about time you two got a job speech" that he re-introduced to us.
Kevin: I know, I know dad
Kevin: any ideas where to start our search
Jim rustled through his chin fur pondering where to send his offspring off to. As if an invisible lightbulb floating over his head just flickered on, he started grinning. He then took off to go find us applications. He pulled into a plaza and told us to wait in the car. He came back with two different applications, one of his applications was for a hardware store and the other was for a hair salon. Again, Jim managed to insult me by handing me the paperwork to become a hair stylist. I wasn't really that upset at Jim but that was actually one of Kevin's dream jobs, so we ended up trading paperwork behind his back.
We spent the remainder of the day just swapping information. My forms were much harder to fill up due to the fact that I had to fill out information on my guardians as well as housing information. When we had this all nicely situated we all dozed off because we had to get up early tomorrow. Since Kevin and I fell asleep on the sofa, we hadn't much room to stretch but had plenty of contact.
I awoke the next morning with Kevin's tail in my face. I'm pretty unaware how he could manage to switch his head's position with his feet in his sleep without me noticing, but he sure found a way. Jim, like usual, was already fully awake making breakfast. It disturbs me to know that he can just wake up like that without an alarm clock. Kevin, on the other hand, was out cold. Kev seemed to be oblivious to the realm of the living. When I got my lazy ass up off the sofa the poor little sleeping fox automatically noticed my absence and instantly woke up.
At first glance I didn't notice but Kevin's muzzle was dripping with sweat. When he had awakened he had a startling gleam in his eyes he ran over to me and hugged me then started crying on my shoulder. I asked him what was the deal and he just replied nothing babe. It really seemed as if he had a traumatic dream last night. I vowed to myself that I would soon find out what it was about.
When we handed in our applications it became time to play the waiting game. Four phone calls later an employer had delivered the good news to Kevin. He's supposed to start his job in a few days. Again, Jim filled the room with his "proud of son" aura.
It was already time for Kevin to start up his job but I still haven't received any calls yet. I was getting worried that I may remain jobless forever. On the way to his job Kevin pulled me in close to him and whispered into my ear "Chase, if you're not ready to get a job its ok. I can support the both of us". I asked him what about his hobbies that he should need to fund and he just replied "you're my only hobby hun". Kevin planted a kiss on my cheek (making me blush) and straddled of to the salon.
It occurred to me that day, without Kevin around there was almost nothing to do. Apparently Jim noticed that I was bored so he did the unexpected, and he pulled the xbox out of Kevin's closet and set it up in the living room. He must've been lacking stuff to do because Martha was still in bed. Go figure that Jim was also a die-hard shooter fan too. We ended up gaming the day away and had a blast. To the point where we didn't notice Martha leaving to pick up Kevin. When we got home we were greeted with Kevin yelling "so, I bust my ass off at work while you people sit here and become slaves to the game". he lunged into my arms and gripped me tight.
Jim: HaHA! killing streak
Chase: no fucking fair I had a parasite clinging on my chest
Jim: you also had a combat knife tucked in there as well
Chase: best 45 out of 89
Jim: You're on!
Before we started up the next round a booming voice echoed from across the room "Wait!". Kevin entered the room with a camouflaged jacket on a pair of aviators and a soda drink hat and said "plug me in". We handed him a controller and needless to say, he dominated both of us. Eventually I was forced to make an alliance with Jim just to stay alive for longer than 10 seconds. After 30 minutes or so we were about to pack up the system when Martha entered the room.
Martha: aren't you boys all too old for video games?
The three of us glared at her.
Chase: wanna join us
Martha: I guess
I overheard both Kevin and Jim sigh at the fact that their mom was joining in. After about 5 minutes I realized the sigh wasn't because she couldn't play but merely because she was able to single handedly annihilate us. It was very embarrassing and was something that we ended up leaving out of all discussions from now on. It was nice to see Kevin ignoring prior circumstances when we were playing games, I thought the family was going to be upset due to their losses but games still brought them together.
Me n' Kev showered together after I we finished getting pwned by his mom then headed off to bed. Just when I hit the light switch, the phone rang.
Excitedly I rushed to the phone thinking that the call was for me. Of course I was correct, my instinct wouldn't lie to me. Though the call was directed to me, the voice that answered was none other than Robert M. Taylor, my dad.
