Christine permitted this behavior when she had guests over; she perceived in it no demonstrable harm. By stark comparison, Harris's same show of demand after his sudden unhampered growth numbed her hearing and cracked the windows. Antiques fell off the tables and shelves to the floor and shattered. The brash, tempestuous barks came out of an animal the size of an animal the size of a grown elephant. Now, Harris had the capacity to crush Christine should his desires go disappointed. Insulted by the lack of attention, he smashed a hole through the wall and charged down the street.
