As the sun filled my bedroom, warming my charcoal grey fur, my eyes flitted open taking in the sunlight, now illumination my room. I felt something pull across my chest, I looked down to see my little brother had crawled into bed last night, probably from a bad dream. I smiled and put a pillow in my place and got up to get dressed.

Putting on a pair of jeans, and a black T-shirt that read, "You know you love the tail" in white block lettering. I walked out of my room and got ready to go to school. When I walked into the kitchen it was like most other days, my dad, a grey fox, whom I took after for my fur color, reading the daily paper, and my mom, a amber colored wolf, whom I looked closest to because of my wolfish form, was busy getting my little sister, who was about five, ready to get going to school.

"Oh honestly Jennifer," My mom said as she struggled to put a sweater on my sister, "if you wouldn't fight it so much we could be done in a minute.." she uttered an exasperated sigh and gave up "when you freeze at school today, don't blame me" shaking her head she walked over to the counter to hand me my lunch. "Here you go sweetie," lowering her voice slightly "I swear you weren't that bad when you were her age"

Looking over at Jennifer, she saw me and put the sweater on. Chuckling at the remark, "Well I'm sure I was still a pain, oh and Bryan is in my bed again, he had a bad dream"

My mother gave me a smirk, "Some days I think you could run this house better than me," tilting her head back laughing.

"Well I learned it all from you," giving a barking laugh "I'm going to be late tonight by the way, I've got to go to track practice."

Picking up my messenger bag from my chair and slinging it over my shoulder, I began to walk out the door, Jennifer caught up to me and grabbed my hand, "You've got to walk me to school today" she stated in an almost commanding tone. I looked to my mother and she nodded

"Alright Jenney. but you're not getting carried this time" everyone in the room laughed, remembering when she had refused to walk, and I had to carry her all the way to school. Jennifer blushed slightly, showing through her amber colored fur.

Jennifer and I walked up the street towards the main road, turning left on to the sidewalk, Jennifer spotted some of her friends, and ran ahead, one of her friend's mom said hi to me and told me that I could go on she would walk Jennifer to school, I thanked her and sprinted off towards the Coffee shop where my friends, Jake, Tom, and Jon, and I would meet every day before school. As I slowed to a halt, I inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of the fresh brewed coffee. I opened the door and walked in, seeing my friends around their usual table, I walked to the counter to order a cup of coffee, then I spotted someone I had never seen before. A fox with smooth caramel colored fur, wearing a white button-down shirt and a pleated skirt that was just above her knees. She appeared to be having trouble finding change to pay for her coffee, so I reached in my bag, pulling out a bill, and walking up to the counter.

"Hey let me get that for you," I looked at the vixen with upmost sincerity.

"O-oh no I couldn't let you pay for me," she looked back smiling at me, continuing to rummage through her bag.

"Oh I insist," turning to the cashier, a tall brown colored Bison, "Here for her coffee, and my usual." The bartender nodded taking the bill, handing me a cup of coffee

The girl looked up at me, "T-thank you..uhm.."

"My name's Luke," finishing her sentence, "anyway, it wasn't a problem"

"Well Luke," Taking her cup of coffee, "Thanks for the Coffee," she looked up at me, the top of her head reaching the bottom of my chin, she licked my cheek, blushing "I guess I'll see you around" she walked out of the coffee shop and down the street.

My friends began to whistle and cheer as the door closed, Jon a taller red colored otter smiled "Man how do you always get the good ones?"

"Just luck I guess," looking down at my watch "oh crap Doc will kill us if we're late again, let's get going."

We gulped down our coffee and sprinted out the door, racing to Home Room.
