Introduction: Keep it Coming
I envisioned everything would change once we moved. My parents and family were very supportive after I came out, but, my friends and neighbors were different. I grew up in what has now become my greatest fear. It was once a small factory town in the north, well known for its prime fishing spots. But now all I want to do is escape and start anew. I don't know why I did it. I couldn't lie anymore to the people I loved.
We had moved there about six months ago and it was at the time, the closest we've ever been as a family. My Dad had a rough job working for some firm in London, but after some pressure from my Mum, he finally caved in. He talked to his boss and after much deliberation got a smaller job in the city close to the town we were now fleeing. At the time I didn't know why they hated me. To me it was just expressing the way I truly felt. I didn't see how it was wrong....my mistake.
I would miss the memories I have of this town. But I knew they would never welcome me back. My best friend Luke was the only one who truly understood me. The night after I came out he sent me a text saying he was sorry and I would always be his best friend. But he was forbidden from talking to me again. He hated his parents for it but he knew it was useless fighting them. After all, it's hard to lose the people you love. And by the end of the week we were taking out last glimpse of what we had become to call home.
