Chapter 8- recovery
His parents, who were sitting next to each other cuddling, broke their snare and stood up. His dad snarled in anger at us. At this point I had not one ounce of bravery left in my system so I just ran into the most secure place I could find. Within the next several moments I listened to them argue back and forth, the sound was very faint in-between the paint-peeled walls but I could tell they were upset. I had to prepare for the worst, so I packed up my belongings and retreated to my safety-spot. After the shouting ceased, Kevin entered his room with his parents to find a shy canine hiding with his tail between his legs. Along with him followed his parents. He gave his dad a minor punch in the arm and said you tell him.
Jim: Chase I'm sorry that snapped at you back there, I was just not in a good mood earlier.
Jim: When your only son tells you he isn't going to be cultivating the family tree, it can be a burden on your heart.
Jim approached me, knelt down and put his paw on my shoulder.
Jim: my son told me about what happened to you the last few times you came out.
Jim: I'll try my best to understand you two.
Chase: really?
Jim: yup.
I licked him on his snout to show my gratitude, then I took his hand as he pulled me out of the closet. Jim hugged me and it was a strange feeling, I've never been hugged by my dad so I guess it was just the sudden shock of the tension.
Jim: We're your new family so don't be afraid to come to us for help.
Jim: I've heard you haven't the best of luck recently
Chase: nope.
Jim: so Robert kicked you out of the house for being gay?
Chase: yes sir.
Jim: hmm I guess you don't have many places to stay.
I felt comfortable with them, that is until they gave us "the talk".
I loved the fact that we could hug and kiss in public now, it was the main thing we did most of the summer.
Chase: hey Kev, I didn't know you had videogames.
Kevin: yeah I used to play them with my brother until he passed away.
Kevin: they just didn't seem too fun with just 1 player.
Chase: well If you want to hook it up I'm more than willing to
Kevin: I'm not really ready yet but you can play if you want to
Chase: what? and miss my daily cuddle session with my favorite fox
We just lay snug in each others grasp for the rest of the night.
