Dealing With Death
#5 of Welcome To Asgard
After last nights attack the mead hall was ordered closed by Thor since the asgardians had enough trouble dealing with the ongoing invasion at the main gate. Angel was with the other mages patching up the soldiers who had been wounded by Grendel while Zeng stared at his blood stained axe while Zach helped Tanya clean up the place.
"It doesn't make sense..."
The axe showed that it dug all the way into Grendels rib cage meaning it should've killed him on the spot since Zeng was the strongest weapons thrower in his village, he then wiped off some of the blood with his fingers and felt its warmth, if the troll was undead it would be cold as ice leaving him clueless as he washed the blade off and resharpened it.
Angel was busy looking through her spell books to find the answer to their problem but so far all she found was the basic necromancer and voodoo ressurrection spells until there was one last book in her shelf regarding the gods and demons of asgard. Page by page she read through until she found the chapter regarding the goddess of death; Hela.
Hela was the daughter of the trickster god Loki and the guardian of the undead who kept special souls so wicked that they were imprisoned in crystals and then it came to her as she darted to the throne room to speak with Thor who was in council with some of the generals.
Meanwhile Zeng was with Tanya overlooking the city walls, observing the enemy camps just outside the gate. Forst giants, fire demons and all sorts of nightmarish creatures were encamped on the narrow passage towards the gate and thankfully that was the only advantage the asgardians needed.
"Don't these guys ever give up?"
"I wish."
"Zeng! Tanya!"
"What is it?"
"Pack your things *pant* we're going to visit hel."
After dealing with things much worse than trolls and demons Zeng wasn't surprised that his adventures would lead him to a place like that and once they were prepared Angel teleported them straight into the firey realm of Hela. The moment they entered the realm it was as hot as a volcano and all around they could see the specteres of soldiers lost in the battle to defend asgard.
"They can't harm us can they?"
"Their minds are as blank as the air around us. come."
Through a series of spiraling staircases and smoldering pits filled with fire demons they at last reached the throne of Hela. The dark queen sat in her throne feasting on a small bowl of fruits while her guard dogs snarled at her guests as they entered the throne chamber.
"Hail Hela! goddess of the dead. we seek an audience with thee."
Angel knelt before her and the others soon followed as the goddess stood from her throne and began to walk down the stairs leading to her throne.
"The soldiers of asgard risk much coming into my realm..."
The moment she spotted Zeng she began to observe his healthy, youthful body and began to walk towards him slightly swaying her hips as he brought out Armads.
"Not another step!"
"Zeng!"
"Be calm young hunter. I know of you, your reputation in Gaia as the greatest hunter has reached even to asgard and I must say i'm quite....impressed."
Slowly laying down his weapon Zeng allowed the goddess to feel his muscles and fur before she wrapped her arms around him and inhaled his scent annoying him a bit as he let out a small annoyed growl.
"Well then enough fooling around to business."
The goddess then used her magic to create a small feast on a stone table as they were suddenly seated and glasses of wine popped up in front of them.
"You seek the troll Grendel yes?"
"That and we'd like to know how he managed to escape a "powerful" goddess like you."
"Careful young tiger...you may be cute but my patience has its limits. The beast escaped thanks to that bastard i'm forced to call father; Loki."
Angel wasn't surprised since Loki was the most hated being in all of asgard and the only one who had come close to killing Thor.
"Loki bound Grendels life force in the arm that was ripped from him. Bring me back the trolls arm and I will reward you with whatever your heart desires."
Hearing this Zeng saw this as his chance to get home and with only a few days left in the odin sleep time was against them, while in the dark streets of the city Grendel hid himself among the people waiting for his chance to strike at the one leading the armies of asgard; Thor
The End
