Snow's Blanket (Otherwise Untitled)
#205 of Short Stories
A basilisk settles in for a wait.
~ The basilisk groaned softly as the light of the rising sun filtered its way through the snow accumulated atop his body. Another night had passed under the weight of ice and snow, but the sounds of this morning did not seem to extend beyond the soft crunching sounds of his failed attempts to move arms or legs.
~ He held his breath and relaxed his limbs, listening closely for the sound of his ship's distress beacon. A muffled sigh followed in the wake of silence, and the basilisk closing his eyes to wait for Spring.
