#3 of A Tale of Two Lives

Well, after a few months of work, I am comfortable saying that Chapter 3 is ready, so here we go!

The next morning, when Crystalia awoke she found herself snuggled in her mother's curl, she smiles to herself. Something inside her knew that she was where she was meant to be- she felt complete, except for one thing. While she didn't know what exactly she was missing at first, some thought did help her, and she eventually decided that it wasn't a what, but rather a who that she needed to feel truly complete; someone whose presence would make this moment perfect. It was only after she spent somewhere on the order of five minutes thinking that Crystalia realizes exactly what she felt was missing. It quite surprised her that she missed that male she had met in the forest the previous day- she missed the conversations they had, though, most of all, Crystalia missed his constant companionship, and even his awkwardness when he spoke. She found him quite cute now when she thought back, and Crystalia found she was quite jittery as she searched vainly for a logical reason that would explain her sudden longing for the dragon who called himself Nol.

When Crimsa roused herself, she first noticed the sun just starting to peek over the horizon, and then she smiled softly as she looked down at her daughter, who was already awake in her curl. She gave her fledgling child a soft lick on the forehead as she thought of what to say. Deciding quickly that she did not want to ruin the almost perfect silence she shared with Crystalia, Crimsa refrained from verbalizing her good morning, and she hoped that her daughter would understand her reasoning. The only things Crimsa could hear were the slow breaths of herself and her daughter, and she found it quite soothing, just as she had on the many mornings she had found herself and her mate, Relid, in this exact situation.

When she felt her mother beginning to stir, Crystalia looked back towards her head, and she was quite happily surprised when she received a soft lick on her forehead. However, she was slightly confused when her mother's kiss wasn't immediately followed by a vocalized good morning as she had always done, but she realized that her mother's body was tense as she lay curled around her, and that told Crystalia there was a reason her mother hadn't told her good morning. Because of this, Crystalia silently laid there with her mother, listening to their breathing, until her mother's reasoning suddenly hit her. In a moment's time, Crystalia understood that her mother had said nothing to her because she had wanted to enjoy the silence with her daughter, and, now that she had figured this out, Crystalia felt a calm fall upon her, and she let the blissful silence fill her ears.

Relid slowly looks around, his eyes still blurry and adjusting to the light, but he recognizes his mate laying on the floor a few yards away from the bed on which he lay, and he smiled. He had walked past the prior night and seen her cuddled around their daughter in a cute ball, and he couldn't help but feel pride welling up in his heart as he thought of it- of Crimsa's accomplishment nearly fifteen years ago; of the satisfaction etched on her face as she tended to her child the first night. At that moment, he realized for the first time, how wrong he had been in calling this Crimsa's achievement, and he hated himself for taking the shared victory away and hiding it until now. However, Relid didn't let that self-hatred lessen his pride as he watched his beautiful mate and daughter lay there, so perfectly content to just enjoy the morning silence, and he even found himself enjoying the soundless morning at times; he was quite disappointed when the birds gradually began to chirp and sing, the rest of the world starting to wake up with them.

By the time the birds started to sing, Crimsa was fully awake, and so, when the silence was broken, she stood up and twisted her back, groaning happily as she felt and even heard it pop in a few different places. Heading over to her mate, she flares her wings and groans as the muscles around them loosen up a fair bit. As Crimsa approaches her mate, she stretches out a paw, and places it on the side of her lover's chest, feeling as it moves with each of his breaths. She knew he was awake, and so she looked down towards his head, quickly finding his silver eyes and watching them move, as he no doubt did the same with hers. They could have stayed like that for hours, but Crimsa decided she wanted to cuddle her Relid, so she jumped over him, being sure to angle her tail to let as much light hit her underbelly as possible in the process, and landed on the side of the bed opposite him, whereupon she quickly slid under the covers and pulled her mate close.

Relid felt a fuzziness grow in his chest when his lover placed a gentle paw on it, although the feeling only lasted a moment before he felt her push off, leaving a sore spot where her paw shoved against his ribs. He then watched, enraptured, as Crimsa soared over him, playfully flashing her slit as she leaped to the opposite side of the bed, where she slid under the covers and pulled herself closer to him. Just in time, Relid caught himself and refrained from passionately kissing his lover in front of their daughter, as she didn't need to have that sight forced upon her. Relid wasn't, however, opposed to lovingly wrestling with his mate while Crystalia was in the room, as he knew it would be good for her to understand what true love looked like, even if it meant risking her self-esteem if she couldn't find true love as quickly as she wanted when she started searching- he'd rather help her find courage, than have to help her pick up the pieces of her life after some manipulative male impregnated her before she was ready for the responsibility of having a child.

Crystalia was so startled by the noise of birds singing after such a long period of silence that she only felt her mother's tail sliding down her back, so she turned around and looked at her parent's bed just in time to see her mother hopping over her dad and landing on the unoccupied side of the bed, only to pull him closer, at which point they started playing- as if they were both hatchlings. She didn't understand why her parents acted so childishly sometimes, but she didn't find it quite as strange as when they kissed with open maws, as they sometimes did at night; truth be told, Crystalia actually enjoyed watching her parents wrestle, though she didn't yet understand wherefrom the enjoyment sprouted.

. . .

More than an hour passed before Crimsa let Relid pin her, and even when she did, she was giggling happily, bubbling over with joyful exuberance as she laid there panting. She could feel on her scales and hide the cool autumn breeze that blew into the cave as it whisked away excess heat, leaving her simply feeling refreshed as she laid there with her mate.

Relid smiled down at his mate as she relaxed her whole frame, letting him pin her, and he leant down and nuzzled her cheek. He sighed happily as a chilly breeze finds its way into the cave and washed away the excess heat he had built up, leaving him quite invigorated after his playful wrestling match with his love.

While her parents had been busy wrestling, Crystalia had once again gotten lost in thought, and her mind had once again drifted to Nolaltro. However, before she could think too much about him, Crystalia was snapped out of her thoughts by a cold wind that blew into the cave suddenly, chilling her to the bone and starting her shivering. Even before she realized what she was doing, Crystalia had turned to the small, recessed hole in the wall that served as the indoor firebox, and sparked a fire in it- simply with her own yearning for warmth.

Crimsa hardly noticed the sound of fire crackling in the firebox, but, when she recognized it, she almost immediately knew what had most likely caused it- Her daughter had done it, without meaning to- just as she had frozen the ground in the forest the day before. With this logic, she quickly pushed back her fear of a potential house fire, at which point she was able to think. The first thought that crossed Crimsa's mind after her head had cleared was to check on her mate, just to be certain that he wasn't panicking, and so she looked up, to see her mate laying atop her, which she knew would be the case from the weight pressed against her. What did surprise her, though, was that he was still completely oblivious to the fire that burned in the firebox that was just across the room from their bed. Content to find her mate grinning down at her, Crimsa makes the decision to keep her mouth shut, as she realized that the moment of panic when he realized the fire was burning would come even if she told him, so it wouldn't be beneficial to her to say anything.

Relid watched his mate crane her neck to the side as she looked at something behind him before turning back to look into his eyes again. She showed no signs of surprise and, in fact, seemed all the more eager to cuddle with him, so he quickly dismissed her action as a nervous tick before gently rolling them onto their sides. Then, with a soft lick on her forehead, Relid reasserted his affections towards his mate, before he turned to their daughter. "Crystalia, sweetie, can you please go play outside for a few hours? We need some time alone to..." He pauses, mulling over his options. He knew he could lie, and it would be believed, but something inside him nudged him toward telling her the truth, so he to his mate for her opinion.

If anyone ever asked Relid what happened at that moment, he would swear up and down that he had read his mate's mind through her eyes. Her expression and her small nod told him everything he needed to know. With a deep breath, Relid resumes, "I'm going to explain something to you, please listen, and don't be afraid to say something if you feel uncomfortable with it, okay?" He pauses for a moment, only continuing again after his daughter nodded slowly. "Well, you know that your mother and I love each other, and that love sometimes drives us to breed... and sometimes, when dragons breed, the female forms eggs in her belly, which hold their offspring...

Crystalia felt her entire face grow warm as more blood rushed to the area, causing her to blush a bright red. She looked away from her parents, who laid on the bed, cuddled together, and almost whispered, "Dad... Why are you telling me this?" Crystalia paws at the ground uncomfortably as she waits for an answer. She hadn't told her parents about Nol, so why would they be telling her this- it was all so confusing, and the hot blush that covered her face didn't make it any easier.

Crimsa had expected this response from her daughter, even though she knew Crystalia had been in close contact with a male before she had come home a couple of days ago. She knew that her daughter was still figuring out what real, true love felt like, and so she hadn't said anything to her, as she knew that would only serve to curb the fledgling's curiosity. She had remained quiet until now, but she decided in the moment that now was the time to reveal her knowledge, so she spoke softly- doing her best to avoid hurting her daughter's feelings. "Crystalia, sweetie, I let your father tell you this because I know you were spending time with a male, one of approximately your age, and I just wanted to be certain you had the knowledge." Stopping temporarily, Crimsa takes a moment to observe the effects her words had on her daughter, and she was quite happy to see that Crystalia was taking it very well.

Crystalia stood there, slowly letting her head drift back towards her parents, absolutely stunned that her Mother had somehow known about Nolaltro. Had she been watching them? No- that couldn't be, she didn't know him by name- and she didn't know exactly how old he was. There had to be an explanation, which she found quickly when she thought about the senses she had not mastered. Her first thought was smell- she had no idea how to discern half of the things her parents could with smell, so she quickly reasoned from there that her mother must have smelt his scent on her when she came home. At that point, the blush started to fade from her face, as she comes to realize that her parents were just as uncomfortable with this as she was, which came as a relief to her. Then, after remembering what her father had asked, Crystalia turns around and hollers a goodbye to her parents over her shoulder before running outside and taking flight towards the forest.

. . .

Just before Crystalia arrives at the edge of the forest, she dives down, and swoops into a soft landing just outside the tree line. She carefully picks her way through the dense greenery, following her memory of the journey in the day prior, and looking for landmarks so she could find her way out again. Eventually, Crystalia works her way back to area just outside the clearing with a clear path back to the edge of the forest in her head; she stops and works a few minutes on committing it to memory before she hears laughter from inside the clearing and walks in.

Nol reflexively growls upon hearing someone entering the clearing, but he quickly changes demeanor when he turns and finds Crystalia standing at the opposite side of the clearing, and he motions her over with a flick of his paw. Only after she had gotten close enough that he didn't have to yell did he greet her, "Hey Crystalia, what brings you here?" He knew his question was obviously an excuse to talk with this immaculate female, but he couldn't help himself- he simply found her too beautiful and sweet to resist, so he would find every excuse possible to talk with or about her.

Crystalia smiled and replied to the male almost as soon as he spoke, "I'm good. My parents wanted me to go play, so I came here to see if you guys were here." Crystalia giggled at Nolaltro's face when she told them that she came out here to see them because she saw that he recognized what she actually meant was that she came to see him, which made her happy. After finding a comfortable spot to lay down, Crystalia looked at Nol, waiting for him to do the same as she thought of what she wanted to chat with the other dragon about, and decides she wanted to know more about him today, so she could think about introducing him to her parents sooner.

Lasia grinned as she watched the two lovebirds playing a careful game of tactful advance, slowly giving the other more and more information about each other. She expected they would've gone on until they knew each other near perfectly, but she interrupted their conversation, much to her brother's displeasure, to inform him that it was midday and that their parents would be expecting them home soon.

"Lasia, can't you see we're talking?" Nolaltro snapped bitterly, startling his younger sister and making her jump, which startled him out of his love-induced tunnel vision. "Oh, dear... sorry sis... I didn't mean to bark at you like that. Guess I just lost myself again," Nol lowers his head in shame as he apologizes to his sister, fully breaking away from his conversation with Crystalia afterward.

While she had expected Nolaltro to lash out in frustration when she interrupted his conversation with Crystalia, Lasia had greatly underestimated the severity of his reproach, and she jumped back instinctively as he growled at her when he spoke. Then, Lasia let out a sigh of relief when she saw the familiar look of regret on her brother's face as he looked away from both herself and his love interest, because she knew it meant she would not have to run away or harm him in a fight. She almost reached out to grab her brother's tail as he started to walk away from Crystalia, towards the area they had come in through, but Lasia thought better of it and pulled her paw back at the last moment.

Crystalia watched, her eyes scrunched with confusion as she tried to understand what she had witnessed, and her thinking was interrupted as she saw movement and focused her eyes on the place where Nolaltro had been. When she did, she was saddened to see him turning away from her; leaving. She almost started to cry, but she forced herself to hold strong for him as she rushed around to his head, reached out, and gently rested a paw on his shoulder. Then, looking straight into his eyes, noticing the fear they held, she spoke softly, lovingly. "Nolaltro... my dear, please don't leave. I want to talk with you so badly."

Nolaltro was so ashamed of himself that he didn't notice as Crystalia walked around him, but she had to have done so at some point, as he felt a paw come to rest on his shoulder, at which point he temporarily pushed his thoughts away, so he could focus on his surroundings. When his eyes came to focus, he found himself looking directly into Crystalia's loving, lime green eyes, and he felt his heart melt when he noticed the heartbroken glossiness they had. If he hadn't been completely at her mercy then, Nolaltro knew for certain he was when he noticed tears fighting to form in the corners of Crystalia's eyes, and it broke him. In one fluid motion, Nolaltro grabbed the dragoness by the leg; yanking her forward, he brought them nose-to-nose, and he gently licked at her snout as he continued to watch her beautiful, shimmering eyes.

For a moment, Crystalia didn't know what to do- she felt the tears welling up in her eyes, but she couldn't let herself cry in front of this male, it just wasn't something she could let happen. Fortunately, before she could start crying, her mind was jerked back to the present as she feels herself getting pulled forward. Just as the young dragoness refocuses her eyes, she sees Nol's snout moving forward, towards her, and she feels his rough, warm tongue as it slides across the scales at the tip of her snout. As the male pulls his head back, Crystalia smiles broadly at him and leans forward to lap her tongue gently against his snout, giggling quietly after she does. The gesture, she knew, was done in only a matter of a few seconds, but Crystalia saw that the young male's eyes remained glazed over for quite a long time afterward.

Nolaltro blushes profusely as he continues to think of how it felt, watching the love of his life lean forward towards him, and he can't help but shudder powerfully at the strange tingling that welled up inside his chest. He closed his eyes just in time to feel the slimy warmth of Crystalia's tongue as it slid softly over the sensitive scales between his nostrils, again sending shivers throughout his body. Then it was over. Just as quickly as it had lapped across the tip of his snout, the warm caress was gone. Nolaltro winced as the dull tingling in his chest suddenly swelled and overwhelmed all else, causing him to gasp, and leaving him panting for breath as it almost refused to settle down.

Crystalia heard the male gasp for breath, and she backs up, unsure of what had caused him pain enough to do that. She starts to drink in his masculine form, unable to decide what she should do to help Nolaltro, but Crystalia is interrupted by the sudden sound of a twig snapping behind her, and she whirls around, lashing out with her tail as she does. She wasn't about to be snuck up on that easily.

Lasia only notices the tail swinging towards her when it slams into the side of her neck, sending her onto her side and drawing a gasp of surprised pain from her. She scrambles to get up, but she cringes as her neck refuses to bend, twist, or otherwise move, rendering her stuck, helplessly, on her side. She tried to call out for help, but no sound came out, and she quickly started to feel herself slipping into the darkness that grew around her.

Crystalia grins at the oddly satisfying crack as her tail hits the would-be criminal, and she turns around to inspect her skillfully delivered, crippling blow. When she does see what she did, Crystalia's pride hit her stomach like lead and she slows her breathing as she goes lightheaded with regret. Crystalia tries to run forward to help Lasia, but, no matter what she does, she finds herself rooted to the spot and unable go force her body to move.

It takes a few moments for the visual of his sister lying stiffly on her side to process, but when it does, Nolaltro immediately rushes to her side. Only after a minute or so of panicking, was he able to gather himself enough to realize that he had no idea what he was doing, the realization of which started him crying there, standing over his unresponsive sister's body.

When she comes to consciousness and her eyes readjust to the light around them, Lasia immediately notices a familiarly patterned leg in front of her face, and she quickly recognizes the leg as belonging to her brother. The young girl inhales sharply as she feels a series of droplets hitting her side, and she listenes carefully, only barely catching the gasping of his breath. Immediately she realizes that her brother was crying over her, at which she couldn't help but tear up herself. She felt horrible for putting him through this.

However, Lasia smiles softly at him when he happens to glance down at her face, and she delights in watching his visage light up with a mixture of relief and joy as he crouches to help her get to her feet. While she was grateful to be back to consciousness, Lasia was also acutely aware of the kind of mental pain her brother had likely gone through upon seeing her lying unresponsive on the ground, and thanks to problem, he probably thought that he hadn't helped her when she needed it.

For a time, Nolaltro felt his life unraveling all around him, and he almost collapsed to the ground as he tried to force back the tears, but something kept him standing even as his legs went numb and his whole body felt like it would fall apart from his trembling. Even though he didn't understand how he was standing, Nolaltro didn't waste a second of it, and he managed to scramble forward until he was standing over his sister's unmoving body. As hopelessness and sorrow overcame him, Nolaltro felt his eyes once again welling up with tears, and he felt them grow until they were too heavy to rest atop his eyelid and started streaming down his face in little rivulets. Standing there, Nolaltro found himself completely unable to think, and so, when he glanced down at his sister's face and found her eyes open and focused on him, it took a few minutes before he could process what he was seeing. When the realization finally hit him, it knocked the wind out of his lungs and tore the numbness from his legs, leaving them sore and causing him to collapse from the sudden searing pain.

Crystalia only found the resolve to force her body to move when she saw tears streaming down Nolaltro's face, and she struggles her wat over to him, just in time for him to stop crying. It seemed far too coincidental to Crystalia that he would calm down when she showed up, as she was the one who caused all this in their first place, so she looked for an alternative explanation. What the young dragoness found was nothing short of a miracle; Lasia was staring up at her bleary-eyed brother with tears forming in her own eyes. She barely noticed the smaller girl briefly flash a loving smile to her brother, who stood there still unmoved from where he had stood as he cried over her.

After a few minutes of looking at her brother, Lasia notices a sudden movement in her peripheral vision, and she strains to move her head, slowly twisting her sore neck until she saw the source of the movement.

What she found was Crystalia laying a few meters away with her head buried under her paws, and her tail slamming heavily into the ground as she beat herself for causing such harm.

Lasia tried to stand, and she made it quite farther than she had expected, but her legs painfully gave out as she reached the halfway point, and she collapsed back to the ground. Her reunion with the less than cushioned soil drew a sharp yelp from the girl, and she groaned as she felt herself slipping off into darkness again, this time falling into a deep, dreamless sleep.

Crystalia heard the thud of Lasia's body hitting the ground, and she heard the young fledgling yip as the pain no doubt surged through her entire body, but nothing could rouse her now, for she was too deeply entranced by her own misery. Eventually, Crystalia felt the numbness of sleep fill her mind, and she let her consciousness succumb to it, sending her spiraling into an inky blackness, devoid of dreams of any kind.

He didn't know when sleep came upon him, but Nolaltro found himself laying next to Crystalia as the sun started to light up the sky the next morning. His first instinct was to jump up and go check on his sister, but he didn't want to risk taking the chance of ruining the perfect tranquility of the lovely female who laid only a few feet away, so he instead picked up his head and scanned the area he could. After a bit of searching, his eyes found purchase on a glimpse of white-speckled chestnut nestled amongst the brilliant oranges, yellows, and reds of the leaves that blew off the trees in the chilly, autmn wind.

Crystalia awoke with a shiver as a particularly strong gust of wind blew across her body. Crystalia started to stretch, but she caught wind of an interesting smell- one of another dragon, and she turned around to see where it had been coming from. To her surprise, she finds Nolaltro standing there, completely oblivious to her movements intil she stood directly in front of him and reached out to boop his nose with a toe, at which point he jerked to reality once more. She wasn't blind, Crystalia knew that he liked her, desperately, but she wasn't so sure about him. She simply stood there and waited for an explanation.

Nolaltro was surprised to feel something touch the tip of his snout, and he felt a jolt of presence throughout his body as he did. After he overcame the shock of the unexpected contact, Nolaltro focused his eyes on the blurry figure that loomed before him, preparing for the worst. However, when his eyes adjusted to the closeness of the form, his tension melted away and he let slip from his maw a soft purr. It was Crystalia, and he enjoyed watching her pull her paw back, grinning at him all the while. Only now did the love he felt for her resurge, stronger than ever. It made his heart pound heavily in his chest, alongside which came a pleasant humming sensation that was almost completely foreign to him.

Crystalia hadn't been certain of her feelings towards this dragon, but when she heard him purr softly upon seeing her, she fell in love on the spot. She could almost feel her reservations melting away as she sized him up with newly discovered interest, and in the spur of the moment, she leaned forward and gently flicked her tongue against Nolaltro's snout.

Lasia awoke to the sound of distant shuffling, and her head shot up as she instinctively searched for it's source. It only took her a second or two to before she turned towards Crystalia, and then only a couple more to notice Nol's camouflaged scales practically on top of Crystalia's far side. She knew her waking wouldn't be noticed, as long as she didn't move, so Lasia did her best to remain perfectly still and spy on her brother. This was going to be one of her best embarrassing stories about her brother.

Nolaltro's mind reeled again as Crystalia gently licked his snout for the second time that morning, and he writhed like a hatchling who had just discovered its wings. He playfully touched his snout to hers as he readied to jump into a sprint at the slightest sign of movement from her, his childishness getting the better of him as he tried his best to court this beautiful female.

Crystalia watched, humoredly, as her light kiss brought Nolaltro such childish joy that he pressed his nose to hers before quickly jumping back, obviously ready to take off running. Normally, Crystalia wouldn't participate in such ridiculousness, but she found herself feeling very playful, and so she leaped at Nolaltro, who dashed away long before she was within reach. Unimpeded by her miss, Crystalia takes off after Nolaltro, chasing him around the clearing until her legs simply couldn't carry her any further and collapsed out from underneath her, causing the dragoness to hit the ground sliding, sending leaves into her mouth and eyes whilst dirtying her chest and belly scales with mud that had been kept wet by the thick carpet of leaves that covered the ground.

Lasia jumped to her feet as she saw Crystalia start sprinting towards her, a visage of pure joy etched across her face as she galloped forward, going from nearly crawling to jumping as high as possible as she indulged her inner child. Despite several close calls, Lasia couldn't help but chuckle at the sheer joyfulness of her brother and his friend as they ran around, chasing each other until Crystalia couldn't run anymore, and her legs collapsed from under her, causing her to slide unceremoniously through the mud and leaves. Lasia winced at the impact, but she didn't expect that it caused too much harm, as Crystalia didn't yelp more than to express her surprise, meaning that it must not have hurt her too badly.

Nolaltro could barely think clearly as he ran around the clearing, almost frolicking from the sheer joy he felt as Crystalia started to chase him after his first invitation. He knew now that the love he felt for her was mutual, and it made him feel strange- he had never felt like this before- he had never felt this near burning tingle in his chest and it seemed to consume each of his breaths, leaving him gasping for air each time. Then, without warning, Crystalia collapsed to the ground only a few feet in front of him before sliding a good distance with the momentum from running. Immediately, he was beside her, and he asked her continuously if she was okay, but he was too stressed to hear what she said, so he only knew that she was able to talk, not what she was saying.

Crystalia laughed slightly at Nolaltro's constantly asking if she was okay- of course she was, and she made sure to tell him that, saying, "Of course I'm fine, I didn't fall that far, and I slid through mud, not over knives." Of course, the sarcasm wasn't necessary, as Nolaltro's concern was probably genuine, but Crystalia wanted to make sure that he knew she wasn't fragile. That was the last thing she needed- to have a male following her around, treating her like she was his fragile property and needed to be protected thusly.

Nolaltro whimpered, the sarcasm in Crystalia's voice withering his confidence. He lets his body slouch and turns away, only keeping from tears by sheer force of will. While he knew consciously that he was overreacting, his subconscious mind despaired over the rejection he had just received. Laying down, Nolaltro let tears come to his eyes and roll down his face as he continues to fall apart at a subconscious level.

Immediately, upon seeing Nol's reaction, Crystalia regrets what she had said, and she wishes she could take it back. She wishes that she could make him understand it was an accident. She wishes that he knew how much she loved him. Crystalia, caught up in her wishes and entranced by despair, doesn't realize as she lays down next to Nol to let her paw roam across his rough, earthen scales. She lays there, completely unaware of her surroundings as she absentmindedly searches the male's body, caressing every scale as her instincts took over and directed her movements towards his head.

Nolaltro barely paid attention to the soft touches until they reached his shoulders, at which point he looked up. He was startled to find Crystalia's muzzle only an inch or so from his, and he felt his cheeks growing warm from embarrassment as she stared at him with glossed-over eyes that begged for attention. Even through his grief, Nolaltro still yearned for the female's love, and so he stared back into her eyes, his own burning with a fiery passion.

Seeing those two familiar, amber eyes staring passionately at her, Crystalia breaks free of her depressed trance, and she realizes what she had been doing. She feels her cheeks flush powerfully as they heat up from the increased blood flow, and, in the moment, she turns and runs towards home.

Lasia sighed her disappointment as she watched Crystalia turn away and run. She knew how desperately the girl wanted to be with Nolaltro, and how much he yearned for her love. It hurt physically as much as emotionally when Lasia realized that her brother was crying, because she knew he thought that Crystalia didn't want him. With nothing to loose, as her brother was already as hurt as he could get, Lasia slowly walked forward and, when she got close enough, rested a paw on Nol's shoulder. "Nol, please don't cry... I saw the way she stood above you when she walked over to you, and she held her body low. She respects you, she wants your respect... She wants love." As she finishes, Lasia simply braces herself for the inevitable fallout that would come if she had said the wrong things.

Nolaltro heard what his sister said, but he didn't care, he knew that he had been rejected, and he hated himself for it. He didn't say anything, however, because he knew she wouldn't accept it- Lasia had a habit of making up her mind when she observed something, and it was almost impossible to change it.
