Star Gazing: Chapter 2
"High school..." Sarah sighed, content with the path her life had taken. She and her fox friend lay under their willow tree, staring at the stars above them, a tent only inches away from them. "Do you think it'll be just like in the movies?"
Ellie pondered. She stared at Sarah for a bit. She'd been doing this for a while now, stopping whatever she was doing and just...looking at her. She didn't know why, but she started to feel a strong bond with her bunny friend, stronger than their friendship could define.
"Probably not; nothing ever is." Ellie replied. Sarah's always made Ellie happy, there's no doubt about that. Lately, there's been something more in their relationship, though Ellie couldn't exactly pinpoint it. It drove her crazy, this new feeling. Over the summer, she wanted nothing more than to just touch her friend. She knew that holding her hand would be enough to quell the gurgling in her stomach, but she didn't know what Sarah would say. She didn't want to lose the only true friend she ever had.
"There are so many things we're not prepared for." The bunny started to worry. "Like, what's going to happen at our first high school party? Will there be beer? What about sex? I haven't even kissed a guy yet, and I'm worrying about sex!" Sarah let out a big sigh. Ellie swallowed hard.
The fox tentatively reached over and grabbed for Sarah's hand. It's just to comfort her, Ellie thought. When the bunny felt a hand resting upon hers, she tilted her palm up and reciprocated the grab. Ellie blushed; she didn't know why.
"If it makes you feel any better, we're both walking into this blindly."
"You've never kissed a guy either?" Sarah seemed shocked by this.
"I've never even thought about it, actually." Ellie confessed. She didn't think that was a big deal. Hell, she thought she was normal, and that something was off with all the boy-crazy girls.
Sarah sat up, and her friend followed. Still holding hands, the bunny turned to look at the fox. There was a questioning look in Sarah's eyes. Ellie's breath halted in her throat; she didn't know why.
"Do you want to try?" Sarah blurted out. Ellie looked both shocked and confused. The bunny took a deep breath and tried to clarify. "Do you want to make out... to practice?" Ellie's heart started to race; she didn't know why.
Blushing, the fox slowly nodded. They both slowly leaned in, noses bumping into each other as muzzles met. It was chaste and sweet. They pulled apart as Sarah giggled and Ellie grinned.
They decided to try again; only this time, Ellie turned her head. This way, they felt more comfortable. Ellie nearly melted at the glorious contact she became familiar with. They continued this procedure until Sarah yawned, breaking one of their kisses. With that, they crawled into their small tent.
The hardest thing they did that night was trying to get situated in such a small tent. Somehow, they managed. After that excitement was over, they lied down, preparing to be whisked away into the dream world. When Ellie turned on her side, Sarah snuggled into her, hugging her. Ellie blushed; she was starting to understand why.
